Smogies is amazing! They are quick, professional, and provide excellent customer service. I especially appreciate how attentive and knowledgeable the young man working there is. My truck had recently undergone some repairs and unfortunately did not pass the smog test. Instead of simply sending me on my way, he took the time to explain what I needed to do. He advised me to drive the truck around town with plenty of stop-and-go driving and to take it on a longer drive outside of Ventura to help put more miles on it so it would be more likely to pass the next smog check. He also recommended that I keep my vehicle registration and my Smogies invoice with me in case I were to get pulled over while driving before the retest. That level of attention to detail and genuine care is hard to find these days. My husband and I prefer Smogies over any other smog shop. The helpful information, honesty, and excellent customer service are exactly why we continue bringing our vehicles here. Highly recommended! read more

The guy obviously knows his stuff, and according to other reviews he does an ok job whenever he does it, he has to if he's been in business for 30 years, but he is incredibly patronizing and rude. From the get-go he was short over the phone, like my call was inconveniencing him, answering my simple questions with 1 or 2 words. When i actually got there he effectively told me to "F*** off", before i even stepped in the door, telling me "I'm not working on that car until you get this other thing checked out." I get that my car had a problem but this guy just said "leave" and when one guy in the waiting room stood up to check out my car, the owner of the business stopped him and said "don't help him" Absolutely unprofessional. I noticed the sign, and checked the Yelp reviews, and it seemed fine. I drove up no appointment and it was so quick and painless and I went home and brought my other car in. I got all my smogs done in less than an hour. The owner is a friendly good natured guy. His son is also nice. They seem like they enjoy doing their thing and I like to work with people who enjoy what they do. I like to be in a place where people are in a good mood. You enter from the back, the first time I went around the block because I missed it, the second time I went around the block so I could access the alley that leads to their parking lot, but once you figure it out - it's all very easy. read more

had an uncomfortable experience with this place as a young woman, which is ironic because he was claiming to be looking out for me at the end of it. he spoke to me in a condescending manner immediately off the bat, handled my keys and papers somewhat roughly and held them hostage until he was sure i listened to whatever advice he was giving me. he made a joke about me to other customers saying i "dont bite" when a child came near me to throw away trash. he also profiled me and told me to "stay off the drvgs" unprovoked? and kept making references to my father and how he as a father would take care of me honestly because he also has a daughter. My father and i havent spoken in years and for this random man to continuously make references to a man that has never been in my life was entirely unprovoked, unasked for, and unwelcome. do not go here if you value your sanity. go to either of the other places immediately next to it, or any of the multiple across town. read more

ZERO Stars Review. I took my wife's car in ​for a ​SMOG Test. They ran the test, then the technician told me that there was a problem with the live computer link to the SMOG Certification System. I asked him if he could run it again and he said that I would have to pay the inspection fee again. I asked to speak with​ the owner of the shop. I told the owner that I should not have to pay double for a system error and he needs to complete the service which I already paid for. He very disrespectfully ​said no, pay again or leave​. When I insisted that he provide the service that I already paid for he simply said "Sue Me". That was my first and last experience in​ that idiot's​ shop. read more

Went in from a friends recommendation. No cars in the bay. I was told to park in the parking lot. Walked up to see what to do next. After they took my paperwork from DMV they drove my car into the bay. PS No one is wearing masks or gloves except the clients. After some time, I was told my car didn't pass. They seemed confused about which car was mine. I repeated who I was and which car I brought in. He asked if I have had some recent work done on my car and I said no. Then he asked me to walk over and talk to him in a different bay. He explained again why my car didn't pass and recommended I go drive my car for 15-16 min under 50 mph and come back. Then he asked me to get in the vehicle but that wasn't my vehicle. I explained again which car was mine and the vehicle we were standing next to is not my car. Then he said. Oh your car passed today! Omg Glad my car passed after all. But there was a lot of tension and confusion. read more

No stars! I don't know if he got up on the wrong side of bed or what but I spoke to the owner and he was a complete jerk (insert expletive). My rv didn't pass the first time so I corrected the issues and brought it back. I walked in the door and asked him to check it and he yelled "no I'm not doing it; You've already wasted my time and I haven't made a penny off you!" Bad attitude bad customer service and in general just a rude person. Don't get your car serviced or Smogged here. Added: just to clarify-five times over three years still doesn't call for the rudeness I received at this business. Had you asked for payment I would have gladly compensated you for your time. The front office seems to always be in a hurry and rushing. Just realized they made a mistake on my smog report regarding odometer reading and had its reading 50k more than it is! I then called to understand what happened and elaborated on what my current odometer is and what the error looks like. He said, "I don't really care what the odometer current reading is. Bring it in to get it fixed, and I won't charge you!!!!!!!!!" Update: I decided to show up at the shop to see what the context is for "I don't care about your current odometer reading" and asked to speak to a manager. The manager did show up at the window and the moment I started talking about the call above and the issue with the current odometer reading vs. what is documented on the paperwork, and abrupt behavior on the phone, and that I thought I show up to get it fixed - with a bit of a louder voice pitch - he did seem to remember the conversation. He did say we'll get it fixed - again - and re-smog "for free". I then asked to get my money back and he said he won't do that since he had his team working on the car. He then asked for the car keys and I figured "let's see what he is up to" and gave him the car keys. He had the car up next on his schedule and got it re-smogged. I then got the car keys back and walked away without even looking or following up on what he did. This uncivilized situation is definitely a good reason not to come back or recommend this shop. I didn't mind making an error; we all do, but what I didn't appreciate is the bad temper and not even apologizing for what they did or say. Bye bye Smogie's! read more

Avoid this place at all costs. Especially if you are a woman. My girlfriend just had an awful experience with the men running this shop and called me afterwards in tears. She was humiliated about her car as they made comments about her appearances. At one point one of the guys called over to one of his buddies and said "check out this pretty girl we have in here". As she tried to ask a question relating to her car one of them laughed at her and said "wow you're not even blonde" I called the shop after my girlfriend called me crying to ask whether it was their policy to humiliate their customers. You know what the guy on the phone tells me? He was just complimenting my girlfriend and that women these days are too damn sensitive. When I told him it's not his place as a business owner to make comments on people's appearances he said and I quote "screw those women". So ya ladies that means you and my girlfriend. Anyways like I said forget this place and find another. *EDIT* I've been reading through the other reviews on this place and it looks like this isn't the first time these creeps have done this to young women. I have Always have taken all 4 of my vehicles here but NO MORE!!!!. As everyone else has said, The Owner is Rude, no sense of humor and Degrades people and there property. I brought my classic BMW car into their shop and mind you it is in show quality shape including the engine bay, first they complained that it was a Manuel Stick shift, then the old guy (owner) opens my hood all the way up does a visual check and drops it from max height(slam) I was horrified, then he proceeds to insult me by saying to my face, "I never liked these cars, in fact I hate all BMW's" Really?
