I have been itching to try this place for a long time. I was disappointed. Service - This is a tough one to rate. I saw many tables being taken care of by waiters, and even the store manager coming out and doing his part for those sitting at tables near ours. Our table, for some reason, was being covered by the bartender. He did stop by... but had a weird vibe of trying to be our buddy. He did not act or look like staff. But he did take the order and deliver the food. I think we are going to go with 3 stars. Ambiance - Well, the design is nice enough. There is no personality, and the building could be utilized for any kind of eatery with little to no changes. Normally, that would get a standard 3-star... dropping it to a 2-star in this case because this is to be a BBQ place... and the smell of smoked, roasted meat... is seriously missing. Food - Again, nothing wrong with it. In fact, the flavour of our sides was actually rather good. So 4 stars... except... Everything, as a side, either came from a tub or a frier. I began to be seriously suspicious of the BBQ, the sides, and the kitchen on mass. It is almost as if everything is preportioned somewhere else and just used a suvied, frier, or grill, to make it plate-ready. So we are gonna drop to 3-stars. I also noticed that they have whiskey, bottles, and cans. No taps. Though they do serve all drinks in a glass. The whole place gave me a vibe of a quick setup that they could pick up and leave at any time. To wrap this up... If this BBQ place were somewhere else, it would get rated rather high. But this is Kansas City. There is MUCH better BBQ, cheaper, just down the road... no, it doesn't matter which road. My honest opinion... this is a half-hearted attempt at a BBQ restaurant and more of a quickly tossed together venture to capitalize on area BBQ. Spend your money at a real BBQ place and let this chain go back to the areas that don't really know any better. (See Dickey's).

Burnt in Burnt End Dinner with cheesy corn and bourbon baked beans

We are so glad we did the buffet for Mother's Day. One of the best buffets we have done thanks to their delicious ribs and other assorted goodies. On my plate, I had some lovely smoked salmon, some shrimp cocktail, bacon, sausage, some macaroni and cheese with burnt ends and a lovely piece of prime rib. They had a chocolate fountain with strawberries and rice krispy treats to dip, assorted fresh fruits, cake pops macarons, petit fours and other small desserts. Too much to try it all, but I know they also had biscuits and gravy, a Cajun chicken dish, chicken wings, waffles, cinnamon rolls.. and omelets made to order We were greeted very warmly when we got there and the service was attentive throughout the experience. You could really tell they cared and were shooting for high-quality.

My sister in law recommended this place. We were in the area and decided to give it a shot. Ordered an appetizer. Brisket bombs I think they were called lol. They were unique and pretty good. For my meal, I ordered the lightweight plate with brisket and pulled pork and some onion strings and Mac and cheese. It was very good. Our server was cool and took care of us well. The place was clean but a little dark. If you're in the area and feeling BBQ, definitely check this place out

I wanted to try local bbq but was not super hungry so I ordered the burnt blue salad. It's a large salad with burnt ends. The burnt ends were plentiful and outstanding. They have a nice assortment of sauces. I also ordered the bbq bean and I'm critical of beans, these were tied for the best I've had. They also have one of the best blue cheese salad dressings I've had Do yourself a favor and try it here

We ordered our food to go. We were able to place the order at the bar and got it with 10 minutes if that. Staff was super friendly, including the hostess and the bartender. The sandwiches come in 1/3 and 1/2lb options, we went 1/3 which was a plenty. The brisket was thick cut, with smooth smoke finish. The smoke sausage was three thick cut medallions, nicely seasoned and ham was smoked with a touch of sweetness on the back end. Beans were thick and sweet, good taste. Mac was creamy shells and you actually see and taste cheese. Will say I preferred the sweet sauce over the original, so I would ask for that on your sandwich or on the side. The wontons were chopped brisket, pulled pork and cheddar cheese. While they taste okay alone, you have to sauce, it's like honey chipotle. First trying, will go back again, can't stress enough on how impressed I was by the service they gave us.

I'm not a huge fan of barbecue but wanted to try this place out with my parents for Restaurant Week. Our waitress was very good, and our food came out surprisingly fast considering how busy they were. My favorite thing was the burnt end chili; it was delicious. Didn't love the desserts, but the other food was good. The industrial interior creates a nice vibe, and I like the warm lighting.

Wow. I have the meat sweats from the Sunday Buffett. Chicken wings/tenders, sausage, bacon, meatloaf were incredible. Definitely try this place. Great service and host very nice and helpful.

Wow! Blind Box BBQ has a warm, fun, and genuinely friendly atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the warmest hello, seated quickly, and given a tour of their favorite menu items. It was our first visit, and they made it memorable from the start. We followed their recommendations and were blown away--delicious burnt ends, brisket, creamy corn, beans, and mac & cheese. Every bite hit. The bartender was charming and incredibly talented--hands down the best infused cocktail we've had in a long time. We'll absolutely be back and will be bringing friends. We'd rank Blind Box right up there with Q39 and Joe's, and honestly, way better than Jack Stack. Highly recommend Blind Box BBQ! Keep doing what you're doing! Thank you for a fantastic experience.

Stopped for breakfast. They had a buffet option so of course we took advantage to try everything. Both breakfast and lunch options were great but I probably enjoyed lunch more. Meat had fantastic flavor and they brought four sauces to the table. Included in the buffet was made to order prime rib and omelettes.

What a good experience! I went for a late lunch with my brother & sister in law today and we had some fabulous food. The server was great and the restaurant was clean. Prices are comparable to other BBQ restaurants but they have a really good happy hour menu if you can make it on a weekday!

    1/2lb brisket...really incredible stuff..
    Adam T.

Their BBQ is incredible. Brisket and burnt ends may be some of the best in the KC area. I'd say their burnt ends are the best due to the pricing, flavor, and consistency. You can't find a better burnt end for the cost...PERIOD. The brisket was spot on. I don't think the brisket is the best in the area but probably close, I would place one right of the top of my head as the best, but trust me they're pretty close. If you want good quality BBQ, good prices, good service, and good quality, you can find a pretty good experience at Blind Box

Meat platter with corn and collard greens
    Rachel S.

I had a nice time here! I was a little skeptical because there are soo many good BBQ places in KC, but it turned out this place is good too! I got the brisket and burnt end platter with barbecue corn and collard greens. I also shared loaded BBQ Mac with my husband. My only criticism is they need more vegetarian options. Yes, I realize that is weird to say at a BBQ place, but it is nice for my sister-in-law. :l
