Sadly I wasn't super impressed with Smokes beer list for a brewery. I ended up trying their rosé seltzer because nothing on their beer list was catching my eye. The seltzer did impress but I don't normally go into a brewery looking for a seltzer. Hopefully smoke come out with some new and funky fresh beer options. I'll definitely give them another chance because our service was great and the restaurant had a modern clean look. They had all the right elements to make it a hit. I don't get to Lee's Summit often but after visiting Smoke Brewing Company this weekend I should rephrase that in saying - I don't get to Lee's Summit often enough. The downtown area of LS is full of bars, restaurants, shops... and is a vibrant base for a city of 100,000 and one of the fastest growing in the state, and fits well in this bustling downtown area. SBC took best in class for food, beer, service and atmosphere in my opinion. Perfect upbeat music playing at just the right volume, well lit, old brick walls, a bar and multiple seating options gave the place an urban vibrancy that most suburban locations of this genre often lack. Our waiter was charming and efficient and gave us great advice on navigating the menu. I started with a Bavarian Saison that was most excellent and a 6.8 ABV if I remember correctly. Smooth with a kick. My wife and I shared the 2 meat tray. We chose Beef Burnt Ends and sliced Brisket to go along with the baked beans, cheesy corn, toast and pickles. We also added a side of the best seasoned fries ever. Brisket was thick, fork slicing tender and a great smoke ring. Burnt ends were charred right and fall apart tender and succulent when placed into mouth. Beans were well above average with meat and the corn was the cheesiest I've ever had. Sauce was very unique, the small cup provided was just enough for an occasional dip, it seemed to have a predominant maple syrup base. Pricing was high, but quality justified the adequate portions. A good place to enjoy time with friends and have some beer. Not impressed with the food. I ordered the Bernie Mac with pork ends. Lot of the fat was more of what I ate then enjoying the meat lol. Great place. Good brews. Great service. We were in town for a family thing and stopped by for a late lunch. I really can't rave about the service enough. Every person who stopped by our table to either take orders or deliver food took the time to chat and tell us about the place. We tried the artichoke dip and it was some of the best we've ever had. (All four of us agreed.) The fried pita bread is even better! Because we ate so much fried bread and dip, we decided to split sandwiches. One couple had the schnitzel and we tried the Nashville chicken. I love it when restaurants know you're splitting and order and they plate it up accordingly. Check in on Yelp and you'll get 50% off a flight. I love that you can purchase 5 oz. pours here too. We might make this a destination the next time we're headed to KC. (I'm dying to try the BEAST. First few times I went I got food to go, and wasn't impressed. Brisket was dry and burnt ends were under cooked and it made them extremely chewy and inedible. When we went in person that's where the magic is. So we decided to try the beef again, and same thing. This time we told our waiter Nash, who got the Manager and they agreed it wasn't up to their standards so they happily let us order something else, we got the Nashville Chicken sandwich and shrimp & grits. I've been here several times, and the quality of the food has been all over the place. One day the brisket is extremely dry, the next day the burgers are fantastic. I really can't recommend it given how high the prices are. They make their own beer (they are a brewing company). I guess stop in for that? I didn't try any but the prices looked fine. The ambience is good, but the service isn't ever excellent. This place seems to be powered mostly by branding. I will continue to stop in, pay $20 for a burger, and leave 1 star reviews, because I dislike Change. read more

The restaurant is HUGE. Definitely big enough to cater to groups big or small. There is a huge bar in the back and they can make any drink you name - and make it delicious . I came back to try happy hour. We ordered garlic hummus to share my wife had the mushroom slider and I had the nachos. Nice server, bad seating. The door opens and our table plus the one closest has napkins flying many many times during the meal. Our table was lopsided so the drinks would spill so I placed a napkin wonder one leg to level it out. The slider my wife loved 5/5 The house Margarita was 3.5/5 per my wife The pita chips were great 5/5 but the hummus was not good at all 1/5 My nachos were not good either and the cheese was not helping 1/5 as well. We visited Smoke during the holidays as they advertised a Grinch pop-up! The decor was amazing, and all things Grinch. Although, the food was way too expensive and gave KC BBQ a bad name. Our waiter acted like it was his first day, couldn't recommend food, saying it is because he "doesn't get a chance to eat (there)", and forgot drinks a few times. They were out of pork burnt ends and pork ribs, so I switched to the Beef 3.0. It was $28.00 and the platter looked like $12.99. The beans and cheesy corn were glazed over from waiting to be served, roll ups and burgers said to be 'okay'. The best thing about the place was the decor. If you are wanting to visit specially for the Grinch Pop-up bar, I would suggest calling ahead before making a reservation. We came for the food and the themed drinks only to find out that they were hosting the 12 Bars of Christmas Pub Crawl, and it was only a limited menu for food and drinks--they were not serving ANY of the Grinch-themed drinks (they only served beer). Not to mention they increased the prices of all the menu items (for a limited menu). Very disappointed in this establishment as a first-time customer. We had our rehearsal dinner in the Barrel Room at Smoke and the overall experience was disappointing and insulting. Despite communicating with Lanni beforehand, we had to ask for every basic need: food to be brought out, drink tickets (which my husband had to tear off, count, and distribute himself), had to turn the projector on, ask for a knife and plates for our cake, ask for containers for leftover food, which we also had to pack ourselves. To make matters worse, the appetizers were late, so guests stood around for 30 minutes with no food. We waited even longer for drinks since the bartender had to help prepare the food. Lanni said she'd check in during our event, but never showed. This level of disorganization and lack of service was unacceptable - especially given the $300 room fee and mandatory 20% gratuity. After our honeymoon we attempted to share feedback privately. We were met not with professionalism or accountability, but hostility and baseless accusations. Lanni responded by inventing an entirely fictional version of our event, claiming our guests were belligerently drunk and rude. This was not only untrue but absolutely absurd. Lanni accused us of being "young and drunk," a characterization so inaccurate it would be laughable if it weren't so offensive. Our guests were all over the age of 30, our pastor was in attendance, and not a single person had more than a drink or two (hence the drink tickets). She even accused my husband of being drunk right then - while on the phone with her. We then spoke with a manager, Will, who admitted our group was fine and confirmed what we suspected: Lanni had double-booked that evening, and the disorganization was due to poor planning on their end. He also agreed that service at Smoke has declined. He had the other owner, Josh (Lanni's husband), call us, who only doubled down on Lanni's false accusations and gaslighting. Josh even told my husband it took everything he had to "remain cordial," simply for voicing disappointment. This is not an isolated event. It's a pattern. The business model Josh and Lanni have at Smoke and Vetta is simple: cut corners, smear anyone who speaks up, and bury honest reviews in an attempt to protect their reputation. It's unprofessional, unethical, and insulting. We used to be regulars, but Smoke and Vetta have lost our business, as well as every one of our guests. There's no excuse for how we were treated - only a warning: believe the bad reviews. read more

We celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday here tonight, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We used the private party room, which was a perfect intimate space where we could all talk and laugh and actually hear each other. We preordered the hangover Bloody Mary for the guest of honor, and it did not disappoint. So much fun, and she said it was delicious! Everyone enjoyed their cocktails and dinner. I highly recommend the mushroom street tacos! Mikala (sp?), our server was out of this world! She was so friendly, fast and efficient. My good friend and I used to come in 2-3 times a week simply because the service was amazing, had great food, and a brown sugar old fashion to die for. I came in tonight just to realize smoke has done a complete 180 from the place it once was. Food was sub par, service was nominal at best (hostess was bussing tables with 4 groups waiting at entrance). Nice vibe, good food, and some unique beer! I got the Pork 3.0 and the 420 Meatloaf. Both were delicious! The pork belly was definitely decadent, fatty, and on the sweeter side, which goes great with some pickles or jalapeño slices for sure. The pork ribs were nicely cooked, not quite off the bones so you gnaw on them, and the pulled pork was also good. My favorite was definitely the pork belly! I got to try my friend's meatloaf, and it was so delicious. I really like that the meatloaf held together and not mushy, and the smoky flavor really came through. I will definitely come back on a nice breezy evening to try more offerings on their menu. The patio area looks so inviting, maybe when it isn't 100F+ outside for sure. read more

This was my second time at Smoke. We went for the Christmas grinch pop-up and had brunch. Food was pretty good. This time my daughter made a dinner reservation for the St Patrick's Day pop-up. There were 4 adults and 2 kids (4 year old and 1 year old) in our party. When she made the reservation, she had put a note "will need a high chair. No high top table." We arrived and this note got lost. The only tables large enough were high-tops. Eating dinner with a 1 year old in a booster seat with no safety straps, is zero fun. Do not recommend trying it. Now the food- I ordered the Reuben, which was basically a sauerkraut and cheese sandwich. The corned beef was diced and there was so little on the sandwich that it was kind of comical. My husband had the patty melt and had a similar meatless experience. The other two adults had a meat platter and a chicken sandwich. My SIL smokes meat regularly and if he says his dinner is over-seasoned- it's way over the top over-seasoned. The kids meals were the best thing- brisket, mac & cheese and fries. We did have a rather large party, but we were guests of the party. When we received our check I noticed a 20% gratuity had already been added, which was fine. It was only myself and 2 kids. There was an area for an additional tip, which we left a zero on. I look in my bank account today and someone took my zero and decided to add an additional $10 to my bill. The food wasn't great, the service was okay but was definitely not worth a $20 tip on $50 worth of food. The fact that this was added without my permission, is terrible. I would never recommend anyone to go here and if you do double check your bank account once the bill posts. I don't feel like this was an accident or a one time event. And yes lots of BBQ in this town and everyone has a favorite but dang this place is really great. Nice location in a Lees Summit downtown that has seen quite the revitalization since I was a kid there in the 80s. Up front. This is the place to go for happy hour. We have been numerous times but anytime I am there outside happy hour, I'm wishing we had come during that time. There is a different food menu and to me that plus the cheaper beer is the homerun. Although the main meals are good, the price point, quantity, and specific food only during happy hour are what my favorites are. The pulled pork nachos for $5 are a steal and my go to. They take up a full plate worth and there is a large amount of pork. I would expect most places to have it for $9, even during happy hour. SO YUMMY! sat at the bar. Walked right up and sat down at 5pm on a Friday night! Now... I will admit... I am a bit of a Mac n cheese snob... so I was skeptical when the bartender recommended the Mac n cheese over the cheese corn for the side next to my briskwitch. Holy geez am I glad I took her advice.
