Horrible. Come full to this restaurant or come for the ambience but do not come to eat. After looking at the website we wanted to like this place so much being from California we decided on this place for our last dinner here in Texas The only good thing is the atmosphere 100% just the atmosphere. They were out of ribs 1st off, then we ordered one of the loaded baked potatoes which was lukewarm and served with cold shredded cheese that would not melt I ordered mine with the chicken that that had zero flavor to it And on top of that I asked for everything to be on it, when I got it it had no chives I went back in to ask for chives they told me they were out of those as well. I got the potato salad as one of my sides and I asked her if it was sweet, she said "absolutely not but it is so good" after one bite it tasted like like sweet store-bought potato salad. Some people to eat his own like sweet potato salad but I hate it so I asked if it was sweet or not. The brisket was also lukewarm at best And I asked to reheat it because I liked the texture of it being chopped and soft when they gave it back to me it was brand new brisket that was dry. To top it all off the location is very sketchy as soon as we got out we had a homeless man asking us for money. First time here. Food, drink service and scheduled band, The Spazmatics, were all on point. Only disappointment was that the DJ didn't play following the band as advertised. $75 for a reserved table for 4 was well worth the price. Horrible service overall. Why pay for cabana when servers are not assigned. There is literally no benefit in these areas at that point. Also lack of communication and urgency through the whole venue does no one want to make money?! We stopped by yesterday afternoon for the first time. We wanted to try their bbq and see what the place is like. I ordered the Baked potato with brisket, but they said they were out. So I ordered the macaroni and cheese with brisket. Uh no. I did not like it at all. The macaroni and cheese did not have any flavor, the brisket placed on top was some chopped up pieces of what looked like left-over meat. I ate some of it, but decided not to eat the majority of it. Rented out a pavilion. $150 for 3 hours. First a waitress sat us in the wrong section, then they put us in the correct pavilion, our waitress never returned and nobody EVER checked on us. Male bartenders with horrible customer service, taking shots behind the bar, ordered same shot from different bartenders and got 2 completely different shots. Under pouring & over pouring. That whole staff should be retrained on what customer service is all about. I will definitely not return and tell anyone to do the same. read more

Wouldn't recommend on a weekend or Friday night. Way too packed and you'll be waiting forever for mediocre food. I went with a friends birthday party that had a reservation at 11pm for one of the VIP areas I guess? There was another party in that area and they didn't want to leave when we arrived because they thought their reservation ended at midnight. The staff was asking that party to leave but wasn't really "pushing" the matter so the other group was hanging out up there past their timeframe intentionally. (Really petty stuff honestly) Someone from their party threw a drink at our party, ticked us off, which lead to all of us being kicked out. They say they'll refund our party member who paid for the reservation in advance, but I don't know if that'll happen. Super packed and would not recommend, won't be going back for sure. DONT COME HERE!!! Very unorganized and lack customer service. They only get a 2 star because the place is really nice and like the space. But the experience is horrible. I went at 2pm and all the Picnic tables were reserved for an event that starts at 7pm. And we advised we only plan to stay for 2 hours and they were still hesitant. Then no one advises you that you only place drink orders at the tables and have to go stand in a long line to order food. The line took about 30mins to get through.Then the were out of pulled pork, turkey and only were serving brisket. Don't know how you call yourself a bbq spot and run out of food by 2pm. If you do order the brisket, the wait is 30mins too. The only way you can buy a sausage is if you buy a drink. On top of that, they don't have straws so you have to put your lips on the cup that the waiter just had her hands on. People are complaining and nothings changing. Had heard and read great things about this place so decided to try it out today with three friends. Got there around 3pm, you must sanitize before you walk in. The girl at the door was nice and told us there was a few empty tables Towards the back so we went and sat at one at the end of the the VIP/ reserved sections. There was a few outdoor games you can play and about 12 children running around in this area. The waitress comes we place a order of 4 drinks and 4 shots. Before the drinks even came out the waitress asked if we wanted to leave a tip. We said we would wait for the recite. Then she tells us they don't give out recites. The drinks had a weird taste/ smell to it. Couldn't figure out if it was the cups or the liquor. As I finish taking the shot I look down and there is a used condom on the floor with a napkin that looks that they used to take off the condom. I could t believe It. With all these kids running around. That was so disgusting and ruined my first experience there. So please if you decide to stop by here and have kids running around make sure u curb the floor for any USED condoms from the night before. read more

I love this spot. I love the vibe, the food and the atmosphere. We always get the brisket mac n cheese and pork ribs. They recently updated their menu and I couldn't be happier. Disappointed with staff! Establishment has a great set up but if your staff isn't good customers will definitely not go back. St patricks day,first off they took all the chairs stating standing room only this was so early in the afternoon and it was hot, only to change their mind and bring them back about 2hrs later. Then later to hear the bartender telling customers this one is on me and taking shots with them,which not my business but becomes a problem if the same bartender is trying to over charge me when I went to order 6 green tea shots he said the total was $60,smh. I corrected him and said $6 a shot,7 shots that's $42 plus tax. He got upset. I guess he was trying to make up for all those free bees he was giving out,or he thought I was drunk. I have never left a bad review, but I guess there is always a first time for everything. It's a beautiful afternoon on Friday around 12:30PM...we should have known when we walked in and hardly any customers were there. No one greeted us as we walked in and we walked right up to only be behind one customer to order food. He finished ordering his lunch and the employee behind the counter taking orders walked to the back without saying a thing to us. Around 5 minutes later she came back out with sandwiches for some of the workers and my husband ordered our food. He met me over at the bar where we had to order drinks. I ordered a Michelada and asked for a straw. She was nice and told me she didn't have a straw behind the bar, I'd have to go back where I ordered food to get one. I did and asked the same employee that took our food order if I could please have a straw. She immediately replied in a curt tone 'No, you can't have one.' I asked her why not, my drink requires stirring and I need one since the rim is lined and spicy. She said I had to order a Margarita to get one and I couldn't have one anyway since the margarita machine was broken. She was extremely rude and annoyed I even asked her for a straw. A straw for my drink. I asked to speak to someone else because she was so rude and she told me she wouldn't get one and I needed to go back to the bar to find someone. I finally spoke to a manager or owner, maybe and he was very nice. But, that's not the point. I am floored at how I was spoken to over a straw. We threw our food away without eating it and came to The Pearl. This is the first bad experience we've ever had in San Antonio and I hope it is the last. read more

I hate being negative, especially now when times are tough, but I have to speak out to save others from having to go through what I did. I kept seeing the ads on Facebook for the specials they were offering and was leery about the food based on the price. I kept seeing these comments about how good the bbq was, so I drove all the way into town from loop 410 and Broadway When I finally found the place, I noticed I could not go in to order and hd to do it from the curb. I ordered the Wednesday special and asked the guy if I could have the brisket from the marbled end. He said no problem. I payed and drove home looking forward to some good bbq and being a weekly customer. Unfortunately, when I opened the the box, I saw meat that was probably three to four days old and had been in the cooler. It was from the flat of the brisket, completely dry and had the greenish color that comes from old meat that has been mico-waved. It was tough and rubbery and could not be cut rather pulled apart. Maybe they ran out of meat and pulled this out of the cooler to make the sale. So, basically, I ended up paying $22.00 with tax for four links of sausage (which I will say was good) and two sides. read more
