Hilarious entitled guy gave this place a 2/5 because they were 30 minutes late. When a place has less than 20 seats in the house, and service is 3 hours, 30 minutes late is a lot, especially since they have later time slots. I felt the need to write a review after I saw that.
This restaurant is incredibly beautiful, from the selected décor to the glassware, tableware setups. The décor makes you feel like you are inside a gold mine; the black contrasts so nicely with the gold-lit lights, and as you enter the experience, the aroma of smoke is exciting but not overly intoxicating. AC is at a great level for a place where they are doing a lot of smoking of food. Further, the mirror allows the viewers at the bar to witness the preparation process, which makes the experience very informative and intimate. There are other tables for larger parties that do not experience this luxury, so I would recommend the counter.
The courses were very innovative, and service was attentive. The staff were delighted to tell us about each course, and were well-informed and well-spoken on the cooking processes, ingredients, and how a dish may deviate from the traditional Japanese inspirations provided. Although some courses had pretty experimental ideas, most of the food we ate was amazing. We had a cocktail each, and we were absolutely stuffed at the end. No additional wine pairing was ordered, and that was a good decision. read more
