Fast and tasty! We even hit right at Sunday brunch/ after church and the staff handled the line and orders quickly! Neat that they have a butcher and grocery attached. Really enjoyed my sandwich and side- scalloped potatoes.

    Sloppy italian.

Smokehouse at Steve's is doing everything right. I swung by for a quick lunch and was pleased with the abundance of options. You can get a plate from the smokehouse side or go to the deli in the market side and get a sandwich. I went with the sloppy italian. It was AMAZING! The bread was coated in cheese and garlic butter and toasted to perfection. The boars head meats were top notch and the staff taking orders were all so pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed walking through store while i waited. It had a country store vibe that took me back to my childhood. I cant wait to go back and see what else they have to offer.

Met a work colleague here for a quick lunch meeting. This place is located very close to downtown Graham, which is probably why it was so busy on a Monday at lunch. That being said we ordered and our food came out quickly. They had some appealing specials but I went with a classic brisket sandwich, which I've actually never had before. I was impressed! Their meat is very tender. The sandwich comes with your choice of a side. I went with the cucumber salad, which was actually different from the fresh pickles on the sandwich. Both delightfully tangy. Add in the choice of bbq sauce on the table - I went with mustard based - and it was a delightful meal. Steve also has a market attached to it so there are tons of sweets and goodies you can peruse while there. Definitely worth a stop in for some good bbq!

Smokehouse at Steve's is a unique find in a small town. They smoke all of their meat in house and use highly quality ingredients. Everything I've tried here has been sooo good! The owner and staff are friendly and the establishment has a welcoming, open feel. The ambiance is laid back with an open kitchen. They now serve some alcohol options if you're feeling a beverage with your meal. The ordering is easy with several combination options. The banana pudding is an absolute must!!! They have a few tables inside for seating as well as a covered patio. There is a section for freshly sliced deli meat and prepared food options for take away. There is so much they offer in addition to the incredible food. It is attached to Steve's Garden Market that has freshly butchered meat and locally sourced produce at a very fair price. So stop in at the market as well!

Lunch AND dinner! 2 meats & 2 sides tray. GET RHE BRISKET! Soooo good!

I have nothing bad to say about this smokehouse/market! One side is a full on Smokehouse restaurant, the other side is a market where you can buy fresh produce, meat, seafood, frozen food, baked goods, beer, etc! They have a lot of items to choose from. This review will be about the smokehouse. Came here on a Saturday afternoon around brunch time (1ish) and no long lines but noticed they had a brunch menu as well as their regular lunch/dinner menu! They had indoor seating as well as outdoor seating! The woman who rung us up was very helpful & friendly! We ordered 2 meats & 2 sides tray. One was with brisket ($4 extra) & chopped pork (BBQ as folks in the south call it) with coleslaw & greens. The other was 1/2 chicken (juicy & crispy skin) & fried oysters ($2 extra) with fries & greens. The tops in both trays, DELICIOUS. The brisket is a MUST. Highly recommend. The hush puppies were soooo good! I can eat a tray full of them. The place was clean they had bbq sauce, hot sauce, ketchup, & honey mustard for condiments. We ordered their coconut guava margaritas . Very good and not too sweet. Just wish they were a little stronger. Overall we will be coming back to try other items on the menu! We bought pineapple upside down cake for dessert and let me tell you, I want a whole cake it was that good. I can't wait to come back!

Nice and hot food Collards are a little too salty. Right flavor. Beautifully cut and prepared. Good portion. Mac and cheese amazing flavor. The combination of flavors is just right. Right texture and good portion. Ribs are beautifully cooked to perfection. Season very well. Good smoke ring on meat. I paired it with the bbq sauce which was sweet and tangy. Very good ribs. The portion was perfect. Next time I will go with one meat Va two meats since the portions are generous. Hush puppies were pretty good. I like the fact they made a center indentation to make sure they are throughly cooked. The flavor was just right not overly cooked or salty. More of a sweet batter taste. The customer service was pretty good. Really fast service and they move that line pretty quickly. Over all it's a good choice for Carolina BBQ. I will definitely come again and try something new next time around.

I'm so excited I finally got out to try SAS! I had no idea it was a restaurant AND a market - I know, I must have been living under a rock, but how cool! I'll preface my review by saying I really tried to not compare this to other extremely prominent smokehouses in other states like Texas, for example (Terry Black's), but admittedly I did a little of that. So with that being said, on its own without comparison I give it a 5/5, when compared with TB's, 4/5. Let's dive in! The spot itself is super cool, I love the stacked wood at the counter. I also love how open it is, plenty of seating (including bar, especially nice if you're solo like I was), plus the self-serve nature of everything. There's a sauce (their homemade sauce is tasty!) and hand wash station, and boxes are readily available to grab. The market itself is worth the visit! Wonderful inventory and great prices, too! Ordering was easy (I'd pre-stalked the menu) and there are tons of options. I went with the 2 meats/2 sides option and got brisket, sausage, mac & cheese with bacon, and yams ($26 after tip). The meat was really the star of the show, that brisket is so tender and melts in your mouth...yum. The sausage had great flavor, though I do want to try their occasional jalapeno & cheddar version. The sides were a bit lackluster for me. The M&C definitely needed some creaminess, and the yams while good didn't blow me away. The hush puppies were really dry, for me at least. The staff were nice and efficient, and multiple asked me if I needed anything as they walked around. All in all, a wonderful experience and I'll definitely be back! Can't wait to try brunch!

Ribs x2 with chopped bbq, collard greens, and cucumber salad $21. In California this would be $50 and not half as good. I have to say these were probably the best ribs I've ever had. And everything else was great as well.

Such a cool spot. I love everything about this place--the food is delicious, the service is friendly, and there's plenty of seating. The market is great, the deli looks fantastic, and the overall vibe is just awesome. Can't believe it took me this long to check it out.

A nice dark wooden old barn interior section for the restaurant attached to the grocery store. Very friendly and helpful staff. If you're going on the weekend be aware you can only order off the brunch before 11AM, then you can also get stuff off the regular menu. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Plus, there's a nice little bar that's a continuation of the counter, where you order on the side, and they also have some beers on tap along with cocktails. After I perused the market, looking at the various foods and dry rubs and sauces available. I ordered the two meat plate with the smoked turkey breast and the prime brisket. For sides, I ordered collard greens, which I always check at BBQ spots, and fries. They also gave me some some hush puppies too. The turkey wasn't that smoked, but was very moist. The brisket was tasty. Fries were average. The hush puppies were dry and bland. Thank goodness they have a couple of sauces, available, honey mustard, and sweet barbecue, which I dipped the fries and puppies in. For place connected to a grocery store where they're trying to sell a lot of their sauces you want. I thought they have more than two available for patrons. The big disappointment was the collards, I don't know what it was, but they were off and are a hard no for me. This place is worth a shot if you're nearby.

Ask the Community - Smokehouse at Steve’s

Is the BBQ sauce at Steve's smokehouse vinegar based?

They have a sauce station where you can add your own- one is a sweet sauce- one is mustard sauce, one is vinegar. They have little cups where you can mix your own if you want to experiment.

I've been to Knucklehead Barbecue several times now. After some initial getting up to speed, they…read morehave gotten things in a very good (Q) groove. I have gone there at least a half dozen times in the last few months. Brisket and pulled pork are really great. The cornbread muffins are fantastic. And, that succotash, which I had never had before, is absolutely, "reach across the table and slap grandma", fabulous. Really, I had never had succotash before. It looks like a mess, but wow, the tomatoes, corn, lima beans, and whatever else is in there, set my tastebuds on end! The hoppin john is great too, but the succotash! I don't usually like french fries with anything on them but salt or a bit of spicy rub, but whatever that crispy stuff is on the outside is very good. My only lament now is that they don't have Cheerwine on the fountain or in 20 oz bottles. But insofar as the Q goes, this is the real thing and it's done very well. Oh, and the sauces, they are great. I wish though that the hot was a bit hotter and maybe a bit more viscous. But I mix it with the house and its great. I do also love the mustard sauce. I mix that with the other two as well. Now that white sauce, it doesn't appeal to me. I've had it, but I'm from the midwest barbecue triangle, St Louis, Kansas City and Nashville where red sauce is king! Other than that, I can't say Knucklehead is better than a few other Q joints I frequent, but they have definately kicked up their game and are putting out food that is on par for great food that is what I see as competition for the other places in town. The two on the south side of 85/40 are okay for a quick hop of the highway and get back on. Neither is of the high quality Q that should be expected. Knucklehead and that other place (on the other side of the tracks) are real competition for each other. Neither though (bowls over) the other. The one think I do want to praise is that on my most recent visit a couple of days ago, I noticed their rating from the food inspector service was %100. A rating of 100 for any restaurant is very difficult to achieve. I rarely see a 100 rating. To me, a 100 rating tells me that they have taken to task getting things done in a manner of high quality. It means they are taking steps that put them into a mode that they keep their kitchen and food preperation on par as if it was my own kitchen.

Ordered a combo plate, offering the opportunity to try a little of everything. The combo gives you chopped pork BBQ, brunswick stew, ribs, fried chicken, 2 sides and hush puppies. Every one of the meats is delicious. Ribs are thick, smoked to perfection - falling off the bone. A great char on the outside, tender and moist on the inside. Chicken breaded and fried golden brown. The breast is juicy and tender, not at all greasy. Also smoked expertly, the chopped pork is moist and flavorful; served unsauced. Brunswick stew is a scrumptious concoction of chopped pork, corn, diced potatoes, lima beans in a tomato-based broth. This might have been the best taste of the meal. Sides are OK, but nothing special. Finely chopped slaw is creamy and sweet; good but not great. Green beans tasted like out of a can. Hush puppies were great, nice and crunchy and sweet. Shout out to the BBQ sauce. This is Hurley's own, and outstanding. It's a unique combo of vinegar and tomato based, slightly hot, slightly sweet, slightly tangy. You KNOW a bottle of that stuff was purchased to go. If you're a local or just passing through on I-40, take the 1 mile detour off the interstate for some solid BBQ.
