I came to Smokey Bones mostly because of how much Ryback talks about it on his podcast "Conversations with the big guy" and I honestly never thought I would be giving this place a 5 star rating. Tuesday was my birthday and for some reason this is where I decided to go for dinner. The place is massive inside and full of some pretty cool decorations and a bunch of big screen televisions. The menu here is pretty impressive and boosts a large variety of BBQ meats, appetizers, chicken dishes, huge looking burgers, and even some desserts for the side. I ended up ordering a platter which consisted of chicken strips, bourbon glazed chicken breasts, and chipotle wings with mashed potatoes and gravy, toast, and corn on the side. I was blown away by how good the food here actually was. The chicken wings were huge, the chicken was juicy, and the chicken strips were fried just right. Overall, this is a place I can definitely see myself coming to in the future and I even look forward to it! read more

Wow this place is awful. Came to eat after Jurassic Park show and were told the wait would be 30 mins after an hour and 20 mins we were finally seated after asking a few times what the hold up was, we were sat in an area that was empty from the time we got there. We got sat down and they gave us no menus and finally a manager just came over and stood staring at us never apologized or nothing finally after another 10 mins the waiter came and we got menus. If I could give it no stars I totally would but I guess the food is alright so I'll give it one for that. It was Saturday night and we decided to head here for a bite because they could seat us right away, that should have said something. We ordered some drinks and fried pickles to start off, the drinks were alright and the pickles were solid that's why I have given it 2 star instead of 1. That's where everything ends, we received out main meals my ribs were all fat which wasn't the best, the pulled pork was soaking wet which is not because it's tender but because it was sitting and had a weird musk about it. The smoke wings were good until I got a piece of a "mat" or something that they had been cooking on. The sides fell short as well, the coleslaw was old tasting and the Mac and cheese was microwaved. I know that it is a chain and some things are just done that way but the combination of things really put a hurting to my overall enjoyment. Service was excellent. It was a little less busy than other restaurants in the area. If you are a meat eater here is the place to go. Lots of great meat options. Very close to the Galleria Mall. Terrible Service.... We decided to try this chain due to the fact that the original planned destination was closed due to the 4th of July.... We walk in and no hostess was present to seat us....5 other servers made eye contact with us and made no effort to seat us or even greet us... Finally the hostess comes out of the back room....no smile, no greeting, not friendly at all...annoyed we were there....takes her 5 minutes to seat us.... We get to our booth and no server came to take our drink order for another 5 minutes.... It was not crowded... no excuses for this lack of service. Management of this location is pathetic. I ordered through GrubHub, when I received my burgers I had received somebody else's order. I contacted Smokey Bones directly since GrubHub's wait time was so terribly long, and they were fantastic. They had me come down, they fixed and remade my burgers, and this super friendly woman who did the curbside included a piece of cake for my husband and I. Not only did we then get our delicious amazing juicy tasty burgers, but we had amazing customer service. When things reopen I know where I'm taking my family for dinners. So let me start by saying I will never order food through GrubHub nor will I ever order fish and fries from Smokey Bones again. GrubHub cancelled my order almost 3 hours after I ordered it..I had to reorder through a phone order with smoky Bones they say the order will take 20 min but when I get there within the 20min the food had been sitting there waiting for at least 5 minutrs so the food isn't hot. Once I get the dinner home and open it up to further inspect it I have a better picture of what my money paid for. The amount of fries in my dinner was scant to say the least the coleslaw didn't fill the small container it came in and as I hope you can see from the photos the fish is supper greasy and you can taste the wet, squishy batter that the fish seems to disappear in. I ate one (because at this point I was starving) I tried to force myself to finish the rest but...my stomach hurt from all the grease. I have never done a review of any kind let alone one pertaining to food. I guess I had high, high hopes for this fish dinner. So disappointed. Waited 25 minutes for order, out of requested cheese for burger and out of to go silverware. Will say that the food was tasty and prepared correctly once I got it. Just right! The food was flavorful, but not over spicy. We had the "Bone Fire Grill" and it was delicious. This selection comes with an assortment of meats including tender steak, juicy ribs, BBQ wings, a sweet and spicy chicken breast, sausage, potato wedges, and a few grilled vegetables. It came out all hot and Smokey. We arrived at 6:00pm on a Monday and were seated immediately. Service was friendly and prompt. Three of us had lunch here. The waitress, Heather, was very friendly and provided excellent service. My Cuban sandwich was very good - the roll was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with nice pulled pork, Swiss cheese, pickle. The sweet potato waffle fries with the brown sugar dipping sauce are to die for! My wife and daughter both took half their meals home. My daughter asked the waitress to give her as much of the brown sugar sauce as she was allowed to and the young lady gave her a good cupful of it - wow! That restaurant is a joke the staff don't care and they will have you waiting for over a hour to tell you it's going to be another hour and then proceed to say that can't serve us due to needing to get dishes washed that's so pathetic they shouldn't even be in business if they can't run the restaurant like every other restaurant runs and has respectful employees. read more

I try to avoid chain restaurants, but I can't resist a good coupon! And $10 off a $20 purchase is pretty damn good. We've been here a few times in the past with good experiences. However, this time just plain sucked. The Brunswick Stew was good, as always, but other than that? Ick. 2 stars only because the stew & burger were pretty good. It was bad enough that I honestly don't think we'll go back again - coupon or not. I had the mixed platter, with turkey & pulled pork. The turkey was dry, the pork was oily & they only gave me 12 french fries (yes, I counted them.) My husband had a burger & paid $1 extra for fries - he liked the burger but got a grand total of....9 fries. WTH? We love fries - LOVE - so to get so few was sad. I was actually going to request more, but the poor waitress got bumped into by a drunk at the bar & spilled a whole tray of pop on the table behind us; I didn't have the heart to complain to her. Side note: the place was damn near empty, so why did the hostess seat our family (including a 2 year old) directly NEXT TO the bar when there were 3 clearly inebriated patrons there? Had weird experience here within two minutes of walking in this place. Saw at least ten people waiting to be seated. It didnt look like this place was going to be so packed. Being really hungry and not wanting to wait least 30 minutes, wife and I thought we would sit at the bar. When we walked in we see that there were so many empty tables. So why were all those people waiting? We wanted to ask the bartendar. Before, I could even get a sentence out the second I mentioned sitting at the table. She rudely snapped back that we cant sit at those tables, can only sit at the bar. Doesn't make sense wen all those empty tables could be used. While,I was away she apologized and explain to my wife that apparently each waitress only ways on 4 to 5 tables. There weren't short staffed but that's just their policy. Weird! She did apologized to me directly once I came back to the bar. Anyway, we shared a double stacked angus burger and it was great! Lot of meat and very flavorful. When we walked in we were told it was about a 15-20 minute wait, which we were totally ok with. It seemed like they were relatively busy and perhaps it seemed like slightly understaffed, which unfortunately you see at many places now and I understand but why keep taking costumers to tables if you can't give them service???? So we ended up waiting more like 30 minutes to be seated which was ok we understand but the kicker was after we were sat at a table we waited for another 35-40 minutes and still not a single waitress to even acknowledge us, say I will be right with you, or to even take our drink order while 3 tables that came in after us had gotten service! At this point we were already there for over a hour and didn't even get a ounce of service! I have never experienced this ever and it was so infuriating we just got up and walked away and still got ZERO acknowledgment! I've been here several times over the years. For a chain BBQ restaurant, it's almost as good as it gets. The pulled pork sandwich I had could have been a tad bigger, and the Carolina sauce tastier, but otherwise I thought everything tasted delicious. Only reason for two stars is that the place was clean and our server was great..the food on the other hand hit and miss. The pulled pork was mush and bland the 1/4 chicken was the size of a pigeon, and the brisket is a joke, it was more like pot roast I'd be embarrassed to call any of this bbq... the coleslaw was decent, it's sad that a side was the best part of the meal. Not bad, We were in Buffalo with some friends, and they are regulars at Famous Dave's, but agreed to try something different. I ordered a combo plate, to try the wing that won some competition (not worth wasting your time) and turkey (which I really liked). The food was pretty good, plus there was an assortment of hot sauces on each table. The problem came after we ordered, it took a ridiculous amount of time for our food to come out of the kitchen (over 40 minutes) and the server never said a word about the wait. I ordered curb side to go. I ordered early in the afternoon and scheduled a dinner time pick up. When I got there I waited about 15 minutes and no one came out so I went in. I was told my food was not ready and they would bring it out. 25 minutes later they brought out my food. No apology or reason it was now 45 minutes late. Hailey busted her tail tonight making everyone happy. Great waitress. Other staff and mgt equally attentive. It really is great to see folks enjoy waiting tables. Ambience is quiet enough to enjoy your meal without earplugs needed at most chains. Menu is robust. I started with a Pinot noir which was decent and only $7. Prices overall very reasonable. I then had 1/3 rack dry rub ribs. Tasted ok but they were slathered in a sweet sauce so why call it dry rub? They were out if baked potatoes so I settled for fries and some butter drowned broccoli. Right size portions at 4 ribs and generous veggies.finished with the bag of donuts. 4 hot with cinnamon but coating was too much and chocolate sauce was cold and bleh. Raspberry sauce ok. We stopped in here on a cold night hoping for a hearty bbq meal. First off the host stand was a ghost town. No one to be seen. People were lining up and looking for someone to at least take their name. One lady just wanted to get her takeout but alas no one was even within earshot. There was no reason for the wait. The restaurant was nearly empty. Finally someone showed up and after a few minutes started seating guests. We then had to wait far to long for a waitress to take our order. After another long arduous wait some of our food arrived. It was obviously reheated and dry. One of our meals was missing a side. It took forever to get someone's attention. The food was blah and the sauces were meh. Very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone human or otherwise. The left overs made my dog throw up. A place called smoky bones should be serving some hot fresh bbq not steam table sadness. The final insult was the overpriced bill for this subpar so called barbecue.
