We were greeted very friendly considering the person before us yelled at her quite vehemently about the table they set up for his party of nine. Not sure what the problem was but he was quite rude. I visited the restaurant in Walden Ace partly because I like the name. My friend was paying so I didn't return my food, which was cold. I ordered the pulled pork combo with baked potato and coleslaw. The pork was lukewarm and not truly flavorful. The potato was cold. Not sure how long it took the server to remember we had ordered food quite awhile ago. She was pleasant, but not attentive. I have been to Smokey bones multiple times now and it's definitely one of my favorite BBQ places to go to. I tend to always get their baby back ribs as it's one of my favorites! They have multiple different BBQ sauces to put on your food, from spicy to sweet to chipotle. This time we tried their nachos a try, though I didn't care for those as the cheese wasn't warm and was all dried up. That was really the only disappointment. + Baby Back Ribs are amazing! Good service. - Don't sit at booths near the bar if you want some peace and quiet. I like the layout of this restaurant--lots of seating and it has a nice log cabin feel to it. We arrived at 5:00pm on a Saturday evening with plenty tables still available. They do not offer call-ahead seating like some other chains, but so far it has not been an issue as there has never been a wait each time I have gone here. I suspect because there are so many restaurant options in this area near the Galleria Mall, that this place never gets overly crowded. We were seated at a booth near the bar area, not my first choice as it is a little noisier, but still a decent table. Our server was very friendly and she took our drink order quickly. They offer many different beers on tap. Beer of choice this evening was Blue Moon, very smooth. Drinks came quickly. The menu offers many reasonably priced options ranging from around $9 for a burger/sandwich to $22 for the full rack of ribs. I've had the smoked wings and beef brisket before and they are outstanding. Building your combo with two or three BBQ items is fun, but this time we decided to focus on the Baby Back Ribs. There were three options for the baby backs--1/3 Rack, House Rack, or Full Rack. I was told House Rack was 8 bones, and Full was 10-12, so we did the Full Rack. Boy were we surprised how large they were when they came to the table within 20 minutes. (see pics) We dug in and they were super delicious--sauce was a nice smokey sweet. Lots of meat on these ribs, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. As someone else mentioned, they are not very moist, but that's fine with me. The table has about 4 different bottles of BBQ sauce if you want to try them, but we were very satisfied with what was brushed on already. Our sides were mashed potatoes and baked potato and the coleslaw and fries. I didn't like the taste of the coleslaw, they flavor it with some strange spices, just not my cup of tea. The fries were good, the mashed potatoes and gravy were nice and smooth, but the portion was too small. The baked potato with sour cream and butter was perfect. Our server was very attentive and brought us nice large boxes and a bag to take our leftovers (and there were a lot) home with us. I noticed the other servers were very friendly talking and laughing with the different tables they were serving. It seems they hire really good people here. So I've now been to this location a few times and the meal is always a good one--we have not had a bad experience yet. I have also been to the Erie, PA location and had the same good experience. For those who don't leave Buffalo often, Smokey Bones is a large chain that's mostly in the Great Lakes along the East Coast. This location is their northern most and they are scattered down towards Orlando (where there's a few). They offer average BBQ and unfortunately this is one of the poorer locations. I've been here twice and the BBQ isn't near as good at some of the Southern locations in Florida and Tennessee. But, there is value here, namely the fact that there's plenty of TVs to watch sporting events and it stays open late. However, within 30 minutes of Buffalo there's Brickyard BBQ (in Lewiston) and Dinosaur (downtown) which makes it tough to decide to come to Smokey Bones. Why come here over the others? I wouldn't. On the other hand, if you have kids or older folks, who aren't foodies, this location will serve you well. Smokey Bones does dish out good portions and average food for a fair price. It's almost at par with Famous Daves (another chain), but well below Brickyard and Dinosaur, well below. You're best bet when coming here is two order a plate. This enables you to try two or three meets, which provides a better sampling of the food. When I cruise through (which is normally only late at night when other places are closed) I order turkey, pulled pork and brisket, with a side of veggies and mash potatoes and gravy. Otherwise, their burgers might be the best thing on the menu or the skillet of cornbread, which is a cross between cornbread and cake! read more

NY Strip (Mid-rare) with Fresh Steamed Broccoli and a Loaded Baked Potato. The Baby Back Ribs were like candied goodness (not very moist, but none-the-less delicious). The Pulled Pork was very moist and flavorfull. The NY Strip was probably the best cook piece of meat I have seen like - ever. The Fresh Steamed Broccoli was slightly overcooked but still delicious (loaded with butter might I add). The Loaded Mashed Potatoes and Loaded Baked Potato were only eaten about one bite, the Loaded Mashed Potatoes and the Loaded Baked Potato tasted the same but the Loaded Baked Potato has a better presentation, still very yummy.
