We ordered a wing special, getting 8 regular wings in medium sauce and 8 boneless wings in habanero mango sauce. The regular wings were tasty and had bit of tang. The boneless wings were not good. Not only was the habanero mango sauce less tangy/spicy than the medium sauce on the bone in wings, but the chicken just did not taste right. The boneless wings seemed dry; maybe they were in the freezer too long? I have not eaten at Smokey Bones in a very long time, but if I remember correctly, their ribs are pretty good. I was very happy with the two experiences I've had here. First time trying this place was January 2023, believe it or not. Top notch servers both times. I loved my Texas brisket platter. It comes with garlic bread and two sides for a very reasonable price. I love the building also, it's got a cozy charming feel with a bit of nostalgic effect to me. We called ahead, arrived at 5:30 and were seated right away. Our waitress was Nanci. I ordered a Titos strawberry lemonade and my husband ordered a Yuengling on draft. Stopped in for a quick dinner after doing some shopping. There was only a 15 minute wait for a table or we could eat at the bar. We chose to eat at the bar. The bartender, Kaylee, who was working alone was incredibly efficient. She was from one end of the bar to the other, mixing drinks and taking food orders. When she took our order it was obvious that she had the menu memorized. We were wondering if she had placed our order because she never wrote anything down and immediately started filling drink orders after taking our food order. Our concerns were immediately alleviated as our order started to come out. The food comes out quick here. We still don't know how she managed to place our order and continue to work the rest of the bar. While filling drink orders she always found time to check on us and even had a little conversation with us. For our meals we ordered a skillet of corn bread, a smoked turkey platter and a pulled pork platter. My wife who ordered the smoked turkey chose broccoli and bbq baked beans. I chose cinnamon apples and the bbq baked beans. Everything was quite good but I thought my pulled pork was a bit fatty. My wife enjoyed her smoked turkey. The bbq baked beans were quite good. The broccoli tasted very fresh and the cinnamon apples were almost like a dessert. The cornbread was good and came with honey butter. Our meals, while not as good as those had in some of the local independent bbq restaurants were still good but on a different level. Having dined at some of the local independent bbq restaurants I wouldn't want someone with that expectation to think that is what they are getting. I was quite surprised at the price. I found our meals to be very reasonably priced. The food was good, Kaylee provided an amazing level of service, our interactions with other staff were pleasant, the restaurant was clean and Covid precautions were obviously in place. Last night me and my friends made an impromptu visit to Buffalo and wanted to try someplace we haven't been to before for dinner. We ended up at Smokey Bones in Cheektowaga and were not disappointed! When we arrived, the staff were helpful and the wait time wasn't too long. For a Saturday evening, the restaurant wasn't too loud or packed, which we appreciated. I ordered the pulled pork sammy for my meal with a side of their natural cut fries and they were very delicious! At the table they provide you with four sauces that you can put on your meal and we were impressed with the flavors of all of them! I put a mixture of the chipotle bbq and kc bbq sauces on my sandwich and it went very well with the pork and buttery brioche bun! Having tried some of my friends' meals as well, I can say that their food does not disappoint! If you are a barbeque fan, you should definitely give this place a visit! read more
