Went to the Clay location yesterday for lunch.Placed my order waited for my drink. Finally when order came she said she would bring back another drink. Another couple was seated was also waiting to even see a waitress who was sitting next to me. I could hear them say were are all the waitresses? I pushed my call button and still nobody after eating most of my meal with no drink she finally came.I asked for check as she was taking their order. She came back and asked me cash or credit. Told her cash she said she would bring back change if I needed. Waited another 5 minutes and saw a different waiter bring the other couple their food . Pushed call button again but she never came! Ended up having to pay with credit just to get out of there. When leaving told person at desk about poor service. She said she was sorry but never offered to call a manager. Hard to believe how they stay in business with such poor customer service and lack of training to contact manager when customer complains. read more

Drove 5 hours to state fair in Syracuse. Kinda not real happy with it but hungry so headed to hotel in nearby Liverpool. This is where my night got saved. Seriously....saw a Smokey Bones and was starving. Let me tell you...I dont tweet I dont Facebook I dont do whatever. But I just need to mention how these people unknowingly saved my night. I was in town visiting and had heard of this place, as well as their food. I had placed a To-Go order at about 6:45 PM with a scheduled pick-up time at 7:30 PM. I arrived a few minutes early and was greeted, and told it would be a few more minutes, as it was very busy in the restaurant. I sat in the lobby for a few minutes, before realizing it was about 7:45. I approached the young woman at the to-go counter who left for a moment and returned, apologizing that there was a problem with my order, the manager was aware, and said it should only be "a few more minutes." AT 8:00 PM I approached again, inquiring how much longer I would have to wait for food ordered over an hour earlier. The young woman informed me that there was a problem with the waffle maker (I had ordered a brunch burger that had a waffle bun) but it was fixed, and should be out "soon." She again stated that manager was aware and apologized. The food came out at about 8:10 PM. The same young woman handed me the bag, apologized quickly, and disappeared into the back. The problem I have with this, aside from the wait, was the actual service at the restaurant. It was clear that my order (despite being placed 45 minutes before my arrival) was never prepared for one reason or another. I get it, these things happen sometimes when it gets really busy. However, I was never approached by anyone at the restaurant and had to check in myself in order to find out any information. The "manager" who was apparently aware of the situation never came out or spoke to me, as my only interactions were with the lady at the to-go counter. Waiting in the lobby for 40 minutes, I was expecting some form of mildly sincere apology. I wasn't looking for anything comped, or to get any discount for my trouble, but just a sincere "hey, there was a mistake on our end, I'm really sorry." That stuff goes a long way with me. The woman at the to-go counter was pleasant, but did not convey any sincere apology. Once I had my food I checked to make sure it was all hot, and then went back to where I was staying. It was only then that I discovered the burger ( Belgian waffle + 1/2 lb burger + American cheese + bacon + fried egg + waffle sweet fries + drizzled maple syrup + sprinkled powdered sugar) did not have ANY maple syrup or powdered sugar, and had all of one waffle sweet fry on top. Kind of ruined the experience for me. The extra side of loaded mashed potatoes were excellent, though. TLDR: Food was good, but check to make sure you get everything you were supposed to. And avoid busy nights, as the service needs some work. read more

I was travelling for business and was looking for something new to try for supper on my first night in the Syracuse/Liverpool area. At the time, I did not know Smokey Bones was a chain restaurant; had I known, I may not have stopped. That would have been a mistake. As I was eating alone, I sat at the bar. Even though the place was steady, I was immediately asked for my drink order. I ordered the Spinach Salad w/steak entree for dinner. When the bartender brought out my dinner, she recognized that the kitchen had missed an ingredient and had them re-fire my dish. I don't think I would have noticed anything missing, but she made it right. The meal was fantastic and the atmosphere was pleasant. Upon returning from my trip, I realized I had misplaced my itemized receipt. Between one of the corporate customer service reps and the site GM, they did everything in their power to get me a replacement receipt and faxed it to my office. I was very impressed by the extra mile they went to make my life easier. Next time I am in the Syracuse area, I will definitely be stopping into this restaurant and hope to thank them with my patronage at some point in the future. read more

First time we have been to Smokey Bones. The food was excellent and the service was pretty good. We would definitely go again if/when we are in that area. Bring your wallet, like most good things....you get what you pay for! So, give it a try, you won't be disappointed! Food was very good. I ordered the create our own mac and cheese which is very delicious, my husband had the pull pork sandwich which was good after we had to send it back the first because it was cold (fried and beans also). It wasn't the waitress fault just poor timing from the kitchen staff. The waitress was very understanding and very helpful. Sure will be back. read more

The service here is terrible and the food isn't much better. Our waitress spent all her time with one table and completely ignored the rest of us. Everything seems overpriced too. Their beers come with about 5" of head and when I asked the tender to take her time and pour me a full beer she said it's company policy to pour like that. Wow I can't believe this place is in business still. Our 30 min wait turned into 60 minutes. After 40 minutes we asked the ditzy hostess how much longer. She said 10 minutes. After 20 minutes, we asked again and we were informed our name was not on the list... Well we saw her write it down when she gave us our pager. So some guys came up to us and said we would be seated now. It must have been a manager but you'd never know as he was dressed so casually and unprofessional, who would know... So they seated us next to the window. And we could totally feel the 20° air coming through the wall and window. So after waiting 8 minutes for the server to take our drink order and another 15 minutes to get our drinks, we asked to be moved to another booth away from the window. There were open spots so no problem. Our new server came right over to take our order. We ordered brisket, ribs, pulled pork and a dinner salad.. All stuff that is pre cooked. After waiting 35 minutes and watching people that were seated after us get served, we just got up and walked out. What a waste of our time. I wouldn't step foot in that place if they paid me and gave me free food. They need some serious help in that place... Don't waste your time, there are many better bbq places around with better food. read more

Not impressed with the speed...they were luke warm...drink order was messed up...how dumb do you have to be to mess up a freakin' drink order???? The service was really unforgettable. Our waitress went beyond the call of duty. My daughter was fussing and she took time out, a couple of seconds to make my daughter laugh and after that my daughter was back to norm. That was so sweet of her to help us out. Our food was served hot and delicious and Joelyn, I will never forget her name, made sure we had everything that went with our food. As busy as she was that day she made time to keep checking on us. My wife and I eat at Smokey Bones for lunch about twice a month. Their prices are pretty good to begin with, plus we always have a coupon which makes it very inexpensive. The service is always terrific - they're attentive without being overbearing and do a fine job of keeping drinks refilled and bringing the food at a good pace. The food itself is very tasty and consistent - we've rarely if ever had a bad meal in dozens and dozens of visits. The only down-sides are that the music is often overly loud (and of questionable taste) and the temperature tends to be cold, particularly in the summer (when I tend to walk around wearing a t-shirt and without a jacket). We've ordered the chicken sandwiches, burgers, fish & chips, pulled pork sandwich, broccoli & cheese soup, skillet cornbread and the sweet shots desserts and they've all been delicious. I recommend Smokey Bones all the time. read more

From the time we walked into the door to be greeted by a smiling and welcoming supervisor .. who seated us along with hostess to our fun fabulous server named Jess.. we had so much fun and a great experience. Food was amazing taking recommendations from Jess and some add ons described by supervisor and jack of all trades (Marie?)aka Aphrodite Goddess of Love . Smokey Bones is a great place to go and socialize or watch a sporting event. There is a large full bar and Several tv screens with different channels for your viewing pleasure. The management is friendly and accomodating and for large groups seating is No problem! I have been to Smokey Bones about 25 times and I always have a good experience. The BBQ is very good with lots of differet sauce choices that you can do yourself to make sure its just right. The loaded nachos are a great appetizer that is definitely large enough to share even for 3 people LOL. The chicken wings are always a favorite but so are the 'pick your own platters' which are an excellent meal for your moneys worth. I recommend this restaurant especially for groups, great food and great times are always assured at Smokey Bones! read more

Smokey Bones USED to be a favorite of my husband's and mine. The food is good, and the staff is normally alright. Tonight however, I feel betrayed, and angered by the service I received for a TAKE OUT order. I can't even imagine how it would have been dining in!! At 5pm, I placed an order online for 2 10 oz steaks, w. a double order of loaded mashed potatoes for each and fire roasted corn, with an order of Smoked wings. I knew it was Father's day and crazy chaotic, so instead of accepting the suggested pick up time at 5:45, I requested it be ready at 6:15. 6:15 came and I waited to pick up my order. After being ignored for 15 minutes, I was told my order wasn't ready yet. And, when I asked when it would be, the server curtly replied with "I don't know. I understand it's father's day, and they're busy but I don't know isn't acceptable. When I explained how I placed my order at 5, the server called the manager who looked up my order in the system. He then said "Well, you didn't place it until 5:53 so it's not ready yet." When I showed him the email confirmations saying it would be ready at 6:15 (one received at 5:30, and one at 5:53) his reply was "well we didn't receive it until 5:53 so it'll be ready in half an hour - it takes 45 minutes." I explained I had a baby in the car and was unhappy he then stated there was NO WAY I could have placed the order at 5. EXCUSE ME?? I showed him the emails, and still have them -but fine. SO I waited, frustrated figuring it's just a fluke incident. Our food was ready at 6:45 (almost 2 hours after I ordered), and we went home (which is 5 minutes away). The food we were given was COLD - how can food which I had to WAIT extra time on be COLD in the 5 minutes it took us to get home? And, the smoked wings were burnt beyond edible. I'm so beyond disgusted, and the family was so hungry it wasn't worth the gas money to go back to complain that we MICROWAVED the food we JUST ordered and tossed the wings.
