In 2018, Nhan Dang opened a sit down restaurant on the North side that his sons, Duc and Anh, and their friend, Phi Tran, ran named Dang's Cafe. The menu offered only three main dishes: banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich), pho (rice noodle soup), and com tam (broken rice). In 2024, Dang's decided to switch from a sit down restaurant to a more fast casual restaurant, and with that, added a number of dishes to their menu. My wife and I had been to Dang's when it was a sit down restaurant, and decided to give the fast casual spot in Camillus a try. We ordered a street bahn mi and Dang's jumbo box, which came with fried dumplings, crab rangoon, fried rice and french fries. There was only 1 employee in the restaurant at the time, but our food was made fresh and quickly, and everything was great. Bahn mi was delicious, and had a SLIGHTLY softer bread that most bahn mis, but we enjoyed that. The fried rice was great and had HUGE pieces of pork throughout unlike most American Chinese fried rice where it's tiny cubed pieces. Fried dumplings were great, the sauce they made were delicious and we enjoyed dunking our fries in them. Pricing was similar to other establishments and we had plenty of food for a 2nd meal for both of us. Inside of restaurant was spotless. We'd definitely go again.

I always make sure to visit spots that offer vegetarian options. Dang's tofu banh mi came jam packed with fillings (fried tofu, cilantro, pickled carrots, jalapeños, soy sauce). I would like some plain mayo which you can usually get with banh mis but they did have Sriracha mayo. They have a huge selection of tea/fruit/boba based drinks, I had a banana one, it was pretty good. I also got some food to go for my lunch the next day. A small egg fried rice and side salad, both portions are very large! Prices are good, I paid less than $28 for all the food/drink. I'll try to get back since they also have a veggie tender special meal with fries and drink. Service was fast and attentive, ambiance is fast food/casual.

You walk in and order at the counter. There is a large menu overhead of single items and dishes, combos and drinks. Wings, dumplings, egg rolls, rice and fries, etc. It is like a wonderful appetizer menu and drinks like Vietnamese coffees and teas and refreshers. When I arrived, it was just Anthony at the counter. He was friendly and helpful with my questions. I honestly don't know if they make these items like egg rolls or dumplings in house.....but it was hot and delicious and good sized portions. My red guava drink was a little sweet, so next time I'll try a different one. There were so many options. This place seems like it was completely renovated and you can see into the entire kitchen area.

We arrived to a busy atmosphere that quieted down throughout the night. We started with cocktails which were strong and delicious. The brussel sprout appetizer was to die for, who knew that brussel sprouts go well with blue cheese! I ordered the salmon dish which was incredible. My friend enjoyed the Greek chicken dish. We were disappointed we didn't have enough room for dessert so we'll just have to come back! Other notes: the service was friendly and there was extra parking across the street if necessary. I can't wait to be back to try their specials and seasonal menus

I read up on the menu and discovered they offered lamb chops which is one of my absolute favourites. A taste of home for me! Friendly and efficient staff welcomed us and showed us to our table. So far so good. Very nice young woman looked after us. My wife ordered the rigatoni and I had the chops. She loved her rigatoni so much she's finishing it off 2 days later and still loving it. Sadly my dish was a bit of a disappointment. My two large chops were extremely fatty. It's the kind you simply can't cut through on a slippery plate. Trying to separate what little meat there was from the fat was impossible so I had to give up and bring it home to a cutting board and an extremely sharp knife. I haven't tried to eat it yet but it looks as fatty as the first. Both had been totally covered by a condiment that I think should have been served in a separate container to allow the diner to regulate the amount desired. The base was a pilf which made trying to cut the chops even more difficult because every time the meat or the knife slipped, the table was showered with grains....all a bit slapstick....! As I previously said, my wife loved her meal and the previous visit was epic so I hate to criticise but I'm just trying to be honest and fair. I think $45 for a couple of very fatty chops with not much meat and smothered in a vinaigrette you might not like is a bit cheeky... In different circumstances I would have sent it back. Oh well, you live and learn...

I had the Cobb salad which two days later I am still working my way through. The service was beyond perfect, and we were a group of old ladies with lots of demands! We've eaten here a bunch - mostly due to proximity and lack of other options. The food is wildly…read moreinconsistent; sometimes, we're surprised at how good a dish is (usually a special or seasonal dish), but if we order it again, it's never the same. The biggest issues: - Many things seem to have a lot of oil involved. From the side vegetables to the burgers to the "garlic bread" served on the side of the pasta dishes - there's a strong, oily taste. It's not a pleasant oil - my guess is it's ostensibly neutral, like a vegetable or canola, though it leaves a flavor that suggests it's not entirely neutral. Perhaps a fake butter? Why it's so ubiquitous is anyone's guess, but it leaves an unpleasant film in your mouth. While I understand restaurants use a lot more oil/butter than home cooking (it's often why we like restaurant food better), this oil is not good. - The fries. I guess some people like them; I loved shoestring fries as a kid, but these aren't the same. They have no flavor (aside from the aforementioned oil), and they're the consistency of McDonald's fries, but drier and harder. Recently, we got an order that came with a new, more traditional style fry, and they were so good. We were excited that they finally ditched the cardboard variety but that apparently was a one-off - today showed that they seemed to revert to the old style, unfortunately. - They had an amazing chicken bacon ranch pizza for a while, until one day when it was gone. I think the secret was smoked Gouda, but whatever they used, it was a great pizza. When it disappeared from the menu, I inquired and was told, "oh yeah, lots of people are asking for that." So I said, "is it coming back, then?" I was told it's "doubtful," which kinda sums up my experiences there. Everyone loved it and wants it back? Better get rid of it, then. - The kids menu options are somewhat insulting to children. The "grilled cheese" uses what appear to be hamburger buns, so carelessly made that they seldom match up (that is, the top will be skewed off so the sandwich isn't put together). The kids pasta dishes are just plain noodles, usually undercooked, with no seasoning (i.e. salt) or other attention to preparation. The inconsistency is really the biggest issue for me. Things range from "fine" to "bad," but even if you stick with one menu item, you don't know what you're going to get. Non-chain, family-friendly restaurants are seemingly hard to find in this area, so I really wish they were better. We've kept at this place far longer than we probably should, again due to convenience, and because every now and then, a dish will be surprisingly good. However, those instances are becoming so rare, I think we're done for a good while. I do hope they improve.

Then we headed to the speakeasy and had the seasonal cocktails and just ordered salads and sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. The salads and fries were simple and I like my "girl dinner" lol. I was told to come back for their brunch so that's on the list. The atmosphere and vibes were cozy, a great place to unwind and catch up or like us celebrate a special occasion. Both service in the coffee lounge and speakeasy were welcoming. I see that they host tons of events so I'll definitely have to check those out. Also can't wait to check out the rooftop lounge once they warmer weather returns.
