Solid meats but sides need work. Smokey Divas is a small takeout BBQ joint reminiscent of roadside stops across the South. The meats are pretty good and have a hint of smoke. The medium BBQ sauce is sweet with a touch of spice lingering in the back. The ribs are tender enough to fall off the bone. The sides could be much better. The sweet potatoes are more like candied mash and the Mac & Cheese was tasteless and dry. Really could have used some more cream and cheese to liven it up. We stumbled on this place by accident after a few other dining options didn't work and we were running out of time to get diner before a show. Turned out to be an amazing lucky find. I'd like to think I know good barbecue... I've lived in Texas and Alabama where good barbecue isn't as rare as in New England... and I've won a couple of barbecue cook off trophies as a weekend amateur. This place has great brisket: tender & flavorful. Portions are generous. The sides we ordered (collard greens, beans, Mac & cheese, slaw) were all very good. Came here in late March after reading good reviews (Thanks Yelp!) after a long day of late-season skiing at Jiminy. The place is very small, only two tables for 4, so it's is more of a take-away joint. Although it's mini, it is mighty; there is a great deal of history packed into this establishment, as the owner comes from a long line of BBQ chefs and entrepreneurs. My family (2 adults, 2 young kids) settled on the large pork ribs platter, large brisket platter, and large Chicken (why not). Meat on the chicken & ribs were tender, fall off the bone, and the brisket had a mild smokiness with the right amount of "pull". We asked for sauces on the side, and I was a fan of their sweet classic sauce as it had the slightest tangy kick, but not heat. I'm a big fan of collared greens, and their version was perfectly cooked tender, and unfussy. The maple sweet potatoes were a bit too sweet on it's own (for my taste) but the perfect compliment to the smokey brisket & roasted chicken. My kids gobbled up the mac'n' cheese... the little nibble I managed to steal away was tasty and savory. Each platter came with cornbread, so there was plenty to try at dinner, and have to take home. Hope to return here again, as it was a nice hidden gem and the owner/head chef was very sweet. Only downside is the limited seating and the parking (have to turn into the side street, as it's along a busy road). read more

As many have noted, this is a small, no frills, takeout BBQ spot. Great food all around, from the meats to the sides. We absolutely loved the sauce--but beware of the hot sauce, it's got a sneaky kick to it at the end. The ribs were well cooked and not too fall off the bone. Chicken was well cooked and very tender. We got sides that included greens, cole slaw and maple sweet potatoes. All were high quality. Lastly, the cornbread was one of the best I've tasted--soft, buttery and just the perfect amount of sweet. My only complaint is that I didn't order more food! read more

I placed an order through door dash. the delivery person came it was not all there I was really upset the delivery person told me to call them. I did he went back and never showed up. I called them again they said door dash canceled the order. I called door dash and they said that Smokey divas canceled it. so they lied to me. I called door dash again. on a $49 order with nothing to eat they gave me back $5.79. I'm done with door dash and will never order from Smokey divas. I would never recommend them. I would encourage people to stay away from them. read more

Hidden gem! Small locally owned BBQ joint that has great food and super nice owners. First off the food is solid. Pork ribs are smokey and juicy, chicken breast was good with the legs being excellent, collard greens were solid, dirty rice had a spice in it that was a huge surprise and wicked tasty, maple sweet potato A++, coleslaw had a hint of horseradish and was way better than usual BBQ joint slaw. Somehow I managed to find room for a soda (can't remember the name) but it tasted like Dr Pepper, but better. I will return once I burn off the 6500 calories I consumed! Great spot. read more

It is out of the way in a residential neighborhood, but this take out Oakland BBQ style restaurant is worth finding. Great food with the right prices. I give it two sticky thumbs up. (Note, there are two tables, but take out is there big thing.) The shining stars are the tender succulent brisket and the sneezing pulled pork. You can tell that the brisket had been smoking for the entire day. And, it was carved to order. It has a great flavor and not too much fat. The pulled pork is covered in the fantastic 92nd Street sauce, named after the owners grandmother. I was told this was the original recipe (with some healthy updates) that her grandmother made for her restaurant. I think that almost anything in this sauce would be delicious. You will meet the owners when you walk in. Be sure to ask what is best that day. I will tell you that the recommended sweet potato, with lots of cinnamon, was great. I was also told to try the collard greens. Normally, I do not like collard greens, but based on the recommendation, I tried it. I am glad that I did. It was tender and mixed with small pieces of beef. While I am gushing, I do want to add that the prices are suprisingly modest. $12 for brisket dinner with a side. $9 for chicken. I expect to eat here regularly. So, leave some brisket for me. read more

If you've spent any time in the South and have a hankering for bbq, you should know that this just isn't it. Gotten food here three times based on the positive reviews; I have no idea what those people are talking about. The beef and chicken are just horribly dry; while the pork is moist, none of them have any smoke at all, absolutely none. I did not see or smell a smoker so these seem to be oven cooked,which isn't bbq- it's meat with sauce on it. Sides are good and the cornbread is spectacular. Unfortunately, the meats should be the star of the show and they are not. Service is plodding. Three times was not the charm and there won't be a fourth. It's a shame because Pittsfield could really use a great bbq joint. read more

We came from out of town and did our due research and came here for BBQ. SO glad we stopped in. The food was absolutely delicious!! We ordered the chicken and the pulled pork, with Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes and corn bread. Their own BBQ sauce is unbelievable! I got the mild and my partner got the medium, both were incredible! Highly recommend. Both meats were so juicy, and just delicious. The corn bread came with the meal, and I wish I had ordered extras, it was so good! The sweet potato side was sweet, but that's how I like it. The owners were absolutely lovely, kind, and warm, and we got the chance to chat with them for a bit, and had some good laughs. This place has fantastic bbq! I lived in Georgia for 5 years so I'm very particular when it comes to bbq up North. I ordered the brisket with 5 sides and had it delivered by DoorDash. I choose the not in a hurry new DoorDash option but the food still came extremely fast. The brisket was great and the sauce was out of this world! Easy enough to find, right off of a main road in a residential area. I had really high hopes reading the previous Yelp reviews. I ordered a brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese and some cornbread. The brisket was nice and tender but a little dry and I didn't taste any smoke. She ask if I wanted mold medium or hot sauce and I chose the hot. It was very good and had a little bit of heat with it. The Mac and cheese was on the bland side and dry but the cornbread was fantastic. Nice and moist and just a little bit sweet, perfect for me. My wife and I saw the great reviews here on Yelp and decided to give Smokey Divas a try, and it was just incredibly disappointing. We both got the brisket, which was fine, it was the best part of the meal. We didn't get any smoke from the meat at all, it just tasted like it was cooked in an oven low and slow. Kinda disappointing for a place with smoke in the name. It tasted like something that we could have made (and have made) at home. On to the sides, the mac and cheese was flat out horrible. The hardest, driest mac and cheese known to man. It's like there wasn't even cheese on it. Zero flavor. My wife said the baked beans tasted like Bush's. The sweet potato was too sweet and honestly, just tasted weird. The coleslaw was obviously from a supplier. The cornbread muffin was fine. It tasted like a slightly higher end mix. The owners (Penny and Frank) are absolutely wonderful and welcoming. I got pulled pork with mild sauce, and that pork was the juiciest and tender pulled pork I've had in my nearly half-century. Whenever I come to visit my mom in Pittsfield, I always check out Yelp to see what the latest and greatest restaurants in the area are. I love barbecue, but it's hard to find the good stuff in the Northeast. I was pleasantly surprised to see this new place with such great reviews and we decided to check it out. We got brisket and ribs with sides of sweet potatoes, cole slaw and macaroni and cheese. We got mild sauce on the ribs and medium on the brisket. The meats were perfectly done - the ribs were perfectly tender, with still enough chew so you could eat them off the bone without them falling off and being a mess. The brisket was also excellent as were the sides. The medium sauce has a decent kick to it, still good, but the mild was perfect for me - sweet and delicious. The only thing we weren't thrilled with was the corn bread muffins which were a bit dry. I had hoped to try dessert, but Saturday is the last night of the week before they close for Sunday and Monday, so they were out. The owner tempted me to come back by telling me Red Velvet Cake and Peach Cobbler were to be made on Tuesday. The owner/chef and I'm assuming her son who worked the counter, were pleasant, personable and chatty. You are not going to run across this place in your travels. It is in a working class, residential neighborhood, but is close to downtown. If you like good barbecue, it is worth seeking out. The staff was very friendly and kind. They answered any questions before I even had a chance to ask. I looked around. It's a small place, a few tables, I can see a lot of take out coming and going. But the staff was very friendly, warm, genuine, they made me feel at home. The food is as good as the staff, warm, friendly, genuine, and made me feel at home!!! I ordered the ribs and they were a good sized serving, the taste was what I expected good BBQ to be. Smokey, savory, and messy! The medium sauce was perfect, not to spicy but not to mild, and sweet as well. The sides were good servings, Mac and cheese was perfect and so was the slaw. To cut to the chase. Just disappointed... For a black owned business I was very excited to try them out, but let's say the results were less than stellar. Ribs - Not very smokey at all, meat was tender, but it was dry and definitely not falling off the bone. The sauce was the best part but it just tasted like Sweet Baby Ray's (which is good but nothing special). These were the best part of my meal. Pulled Pork Sandwich - I don't even know where to begin. For one, the bun is one of those hamburger buns that you get in a $1 value pack at walmart, not toasted or anything, just straight up mushy. The meat was D R Y Y Y Y YY YYYYY! With a CAPITAL D. The sauce was the same for the ribs, but there wasn't that much, and to top it all off this costed nearly $10. Not worth. Maple Sweet Potatoes - These are sweet mashed potatoes, they smelled wonderful but I couldn't really enjoy them because they were so unbelievably sweet. It almost tasted like they gave me sweet potato pie instead. So much cinnamon and spice and sugar paired with BBQ sauce will awaken diabetes within you. Skip them. Mac & Cheese - This is where everything just falls apart. I've never had a mac and cheese so DRY and flavorLESS. No bread crumbs, no cheese sauce, in fact there's barely any cheese at all. It tasted worse than Kraft. Wow. Cornbread - You take a bite of the cornbread and it crumbles into your mouth sucking up all of the moisture you've ever had in there. Nasty. My advice is to just get the ribs. They're better than Chilli's or Applebees or any other restaurant here, but I would avoid much of anything else. Just make it at home. read more

Really fun, the owner is a total character. Whatever her menu says... be aware you just need to ask her because she might not have made what is in the menu.. and that's OK. Everything she made was great. The ribs were very good, the pulled pork tender and flavorful... the brisket....meh, but we're not in Texas are we? We're in W Mass. and by that standard it's fine. The prices are great and the peach cobbler delightful. Sure, I've been to better BBQ stands but hers is a worthy addition to any travelers scorecard.
