I ordered a meal online, for curbside pickup. They called me back to say they were out of ribs and I told them i would call Liberty Hill and order from there instead. I noticed a week later that they still charged me for the ribs that they didn't have. When i called in about this, the person I talked to, Cassie, was very rude about the whole thing. Trying to make it my problem. She said they transferred the order to LH, but i had no idea and so i placed my own order with LH and picked it up. Great food! AMAZING customer service!! We recently picked up fajitas for a lunch meeting from another restaurant that is about a 20 minute drive away. While setting out the food we discovered that the other restaurant had forgotten our tortillas. As you know, you cannot have fajitas without tortillas! Smokey Mo's is just around the corner from us so we ran over and the employees saved the day. I was greeted as soon as I walked in however of the 4 staff members only one was wearing a mask. I just moved here to Leander from Pflugerville and we try local places first. They gave us a loaf of bread and a bottle of their sauce along with our order. I was advised from another person in line to grab the regular, not the spicy sauce and so I did. The staff was very friendly to us. Here was our order: 1 Pound of: Brisket - I have had much better. It frankly was just meat you cooked with no seasoning. eh Sausage - They were ok I have cooked better Pork Ribs - Amazing. This is the only thing that was polished off. Side: Potatoes - No seasoning like salt or pepper, did not even have the flavor of butter Corn on the Cob - This was so water logged it was mushy. I have never had corn like that so it was weird. Pinto Beans: No flavor either which made it gross to eat. Sauce: Spicy as all hell and this was the regular! Now I know why the other customer warned me. We have two teenage sons and you know food doesn't taste good when they won't eat it. One made a sandwich instead of finishing the food and the other didn't touch the left over brisket/sausage. We threw out the sides completely along with the sauce. I feel bad because it was such a waste of food as well as money. Recently cured of my vegetarian tendencies, I have set out on a mission to try all of the BBQ restaurants in the area. Specifically the brisket, which I think is my new favorite food of all time. I have had dreams about Smokey Mo's brisket ever since I first ate it. YUMMMM! The flavor was just absolutely delicious. Smokey with a hint of peppery heat, just enough. I had the lean cut, as is my preference. Husband had half a chicken (it was the daily special) but lamented his decision after trying my brisket (-hand-slap- STAY BACK!) He said the chicken was great but the brisket was awesome. For sides I had the coleslaw and green beans, which were both tasty. The BBQ sauce was also delish- they sell it in bottles by the counter and I'm definitely going to pick some up next time I'm there. The service was friendly and extremely prompt even though there was a line. Prices are great too. Sure to become a regular. read more

Sauce is good, but I'm 50/50 for good meals at this location. Today my 1/2 pound of brisket had more fat than meat. It was extremely disappointing to get home, open up the brisket and there's barely enough for one serving. I have ordered their chopped beef many times. I ordered it today, got home and there were a lot of "little square pieces of what looks like ham" in the chopped beef. I called the restaurant and they told me that now they just call it "chopped" and mix in ham pork or turkey into their "chopped". I guess whatever is left over from yesterday. I ordered "chopped beef". I did not order chopped beef with other stuff in it. They should have told me it was not chopped beef when I ordered. Beware of their mis-representation of their "chopped". It may violate your dietary rules by feeding you something other than beef. At least it wasn't raccoon. read more

The BBQ is pretty good. Breakfast tacos are pretty good. Not exceptional but par for the course I suppose. I'm glad they are here because its the closest breakfast taco joint to my house. I do think the BBQ is a bit over-priced for what it is but not terribly bad. One thing that regularly irritates me though... On to-go orders, they do not give me BBQ sauce unless I beg for it. Then they give me a tiny little cup of it to go with 2 lbs of meat?! They have condiments that you can help yourself to but they do not put out ANY containers that you could use to put sauce in. I guess I could open the paper wrap on the brisket and pour some sauce on it and try to wrap it back up?? I can only assume that its because they are trying to sell their bottled BBQ sauce. If so, this tactic is probably good marketing but bad customer service in my opinion which does the opposite of make me want to buy their stuff. read more

While visiting Leander TX, my daughter recommended that we go to one of her favorite BBQ spots. We went in on a TUS the place was not really busy we were greeted promptly and the person behind the counter seen we were undecided as to what we wanted. So he recommended a few things. We had the brisket,sausage,and green beans, and mac and cheese. The brisket was perfectly smoked it fell apart like a perfectly cooked corned beef. It was so moist and seasoned to perfection. The sausage was also smoked to perfection the skin had a wonderful snap and was sooo flavorful. The Mac and cheese was creamy and the noodles were not over cooked it was so good it didn't even need salt. The BBQ sauce was amazing it had just a very slight spice. It wasn't over spicy the flavor was sooo on point. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great BBQ in this area. If I could give 10 stars I would. Never really had a bad experience here. Food is usually as good as I hope it will be. The moist brisket is usually very good. Only things that have ever gone wrong are that there was a few too many black areas on the brisket once, plus, they have no mac and cheese on the menu, bummer. Otherwise, pretty darn good stuff. It does seem like I liked Rudy's better...can't recall why. Guess it's time to give them a try also. Note: I wonder why I see so many different people working there all the time? In this day and age haven't we learned about some basic hygiene requirements around food. Now I would question how clean the entire process is at this location. To me this is the best flavor from all the north locations. We got the Brisket moist and it tasted well seasoned and the tater salad was mixed well. If in a pinch and feel like BBQ it is a solid stop. We also discovered from the Cypress Creek location that their cheeseburgers are cooked to order and really good! Try one if you feel like a burger that isn't a chain but you have at least 9 minutes cuz it's going to be fresh. read more

I don't understand how a business can be ran with lazy employees that 30 min to an hour before they are closing they tell you they don't have certain food when you can clearly see it in the trays in front of you and they clearly just made 3 chopped bakers for the people in front of you. Maybe this location needs new employees or the owner need to step in and make sure the customers are taken care of. I understand you run out of food once in a while but the 3 times my family has came in this location they magically run out of chopped bakers before closing time. Tasteless. I had the "Moist" Brisket and it was dry as a bone, didn't taste as if it had been marinated or slow smoked at all. Which makes the price per pound ridiculous as they are now higher than Rudy's and Rudy's is 100 times better. I had their BBQ when they were in their former building and liked it. So good! Some people think just because a bbq joint is a chain that every restaurant must have the same quality food. Not true with Smokey Mos. Flies were flying around. Breakfast tacos had hardly any egg. Tacos were wrapped in tin foil and so the tacos got soggy. There needs to be some paper type wrap between the taco and the foil to prevent that. read more

We stopped here on a whim, about 10 minutes before they were to close at 9pm. John, the assistant manager was about as friendly a guy I had ever met. The staff at this place treat you like family, go out of their way to meet and exceed your expectations and make you happy. The food was tasty, and with me being allergic to a lot of spicy foods, John was happy to tell me they make the sauce spicy so to meet everyone's needs with the meats and sides. We were VERY happy, no rush for us to leave, just plain and simple a friendly and comfortable place for a nice and quiet sit down dinner. read more

Service is super-slow and that's a bit irritating when you have a one year old on your hip and a four year old screaming for cookies and brownies only to have to wait 15 minutes in line for a salad and two kids plates TO GO. pick up the pace guys and find a new distributor for that dressing! it really is horrible! read more

Sorry to say but I believe the quality has gone down lately. Hubby stopped and brought dinner home tonight. The bread on my sandwich was dry and half was toast crusty. The banana pudding was half whip cream and the other half was very thick pudding with 3 cookies and 2 banana slices. I hope the management reads this and improves the food.
