It might seem like a small thing to some, but coming from Georgia, I've been chasing that true "wow, this is SWEET sweet tea" moment... and this was it. So good! I ordered the 2 meat combo plate. The coleslaw was bomb, Mac and cheese yumm-ooo, and the pork belly is absolutely worth the upgrade. So flavorful and tender. The only downside for me was the brisket. It was a little on the blander/drier side. The BBQ sauce definitely helped, though. I'm willing to give it another try because it could've just been an off day. The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant was clean (based on my previous dine-in visit). This time I went through the drive-thru, and the service was still great. I was grabbing a late lunch so this location was dead - no music, no tv - dead silence. I went with a two meat plate- turkey and sausage - mixed review. The turkey was fantastic - wonderful flavor- was not dry at all - my golden rule is bbq should stand on its own - no sauce should be needed - And that goes for all meets brisket, turkey, whatever the pitmaster is cooking... It should stand on its own. . The turkey passed the test. The two sauces that Smoky Boes provided on the table was original and spicy. I was disappointed with both... Neither one really was anything special. Tasted like one of the run of the mill barbecue sauces You could buy off the shelf at your local grocery store The sausage was a disappointment. Very much standard fair. It tasted like a sausage link you bought from the grocery store took it out of the wrapper and cut it up. No flavor no temperature. It was overhaul just a piece of meat. Very disappointing. I had two sides, the cream corn, and a potato dish with cheese and bacon The cream corn was very tasty and I enjoyed it. The potato dish was interesting. It was diced red potatoes, with cheese and bacon. It would've been better if they had master or whipped the potatoes. When I finished eating the potatoes and the cheese and bacon, there was a good amount of water sitting in the Styrofoam cup it was served in. The overall taste was OK, but the dish itself was a disappointment. I picked up a package of sliced bread that was in a plastic wrap on the counter. The bread itself was a little stale and not that great. Fresh bread, warm fresh bread would've been a nice compliment to the meal. Overall, Smoky Mo is OK. Average fare, average price. read more

Thanks to shiny new ownership, this is a clean, modern, very nice store by BBQ standards. My crew has taken to ordering their breakfast tacos, which are very tasty and reasonably priced. Service both inside at the counter and in the drivethrough have been blazing fast, as this location is well-staffed with cool employees. The barbeque definitely delicious, and there are a lot of meat and side options to choose from. Austin has a lot of great BBQ places, and this isn't exactly in the elite tier of all the choices. But, for a neighborhood place, it's not bad at all. You can get some good stuff here without the lines and anxiety that trendier spots entail. Overall, this is a great addition to the Brushy Creek area, primarily for the good breakfast tacos and service. read more

Barely any potatoes and they use to have chopped bacon, the bacon was meh. My 3 stars are for the service and breakfast tacos! I would much rather go here for breakfast than the Whataburger nearby. Just walked up to the counter and the guy at the register (black shirt) was too busy texting to take my order. Stood there for a minute while he was texting away paying no attention to my 6'2 self standing right up against the counter. I left the building to find a place that would serve me. Was gonna try Pok-e-jo's instead. Cooled down and went back inside. Some other guy was at the counter and took my order immediately. Guy hadn't been treained well on the register but he got it done. The guy in the black shirt never even looked my direction the whole time til he handed me my food and gave me a fake smile. Brisket was good enough. A little rubbery in some pieces and they cut it up too small for my preference. Looked like it was for a kid's plate next to his cut up hot dogs and mac-n-cheese. The chicken was awesome. I've been to several Smokey Mo's and have eaten at the Round Rock 620 location many times. It never disappoints and always fast and friendly. Picked up my Thanksgiving Feast from this store this year which will make 5 years straight that my family has ordered a Smokey Turkey from Smokey Mo's and it was simply amazing. Super easy pickup as always and the bird was the hit of the evening again. The feast came with green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, bread rolls, and stuffing and gravy provided. I was in Austin this week from Ohio. I like Rudy's, and other local barbecue places, and I saw this place, so we had lunch here. To be fair, the place is comfortable, clean and people are friendly. I order a bbq sandwich combo (coleslaw & drink). The sandwich was awful. I've never tasted anything so objectionable. It was like they had scraped the contents off the bottom of a burned pan. The coleslaw was not noteworthy, at least for the two spoonfuls offered. Drink bar is fine. Maybe this will help because, as I mentioned, seems like a great location and too nice a place to offer such an inferior product. read more

Stopped in for takeout this past weekend. Was in the area and wanted some bbq. I was greeted when I walked in the door. Then the service was super friendly. Got home unpacked food and bam they treated me right on my two meat plate. Brisket and hot links is my go to. Loaded both meats and cream corn was awesome. This place is awesome. Maybe it was just a bad day, but they were charging good-day prices and everything seemed like it was under an heat lamp since the night before. Even if I was desperate for BBQ, I wouldn't go back there. Wanted to see if they could match Rudy's since Mo's is closer, but it's not even close. The smoke on the meat was good. Smokey Mo's - another great BBQ spot in Austin! My company orders Smokey Mo's for catering whenever we have special events, and it's been consistently great. I stopped by Smokey Mo's one time to see what other options they have other than the ones I already tried at my company. I ordered their sliced brisket sandwich with fries on the side. They really impressed me! The sandwich was highly stacked up with brisket slices. I had their fries and I thought I was missing out my whole life. I personally love thin-cut fries - crispy on the outside without being hard, and Smoky Mo's pulls it off beautifully. Brisket: Moist and tender, slowly cooked to perfection. Turkey: I heard great things about it from turkey lovers, I'm not a fan of BBQ turkey anywhere. Sausage links: Great! BBQ sauce: It's good but I think Rudy's BBQ sauce is better. Smoky Mo's BBQ sauce is a bit sweet and ketchup-y to me. Sweet tea: Always a great additional to a BBQ meal. Smoky Mo's is definitely on my BBQ list to come back sometimes. read more

I just stopped at this location because it's on my way home but I regret it now. I asked for the brisket plate that comes with two sides, pinto beans and potato salad for me. I don't have any complains about the sides, but the amount of brisket served it's ridiculously small. This is $13 bucks plate! And all I got are bits and pieces of brisket, plus it was cold - most probably left overs. I'm really disappointed and upset, I even left some tip in cash for this crap. The service is friendly as in any Smokey Mo's but the to-go servings at this location leave too much to be desired. I should've have checked my plate and was going to when the girl that was handing the food made small talk and forgot about it -lesson learned. Great sides. We order often and like the chicken and chopped beef. On occasion we'll get the sliced brisket. All seclusion's. Chicken is probably my favorite. It was picked up in a box, inside it was sealed into an oven bag resting inside an aluminum roasting pan. This made is incredibly easy to reheat & the oven bag ensured it kept from drying out - we were very happy & highly recommend! Came here after the disaster we encountered at Salt lick BBQ. This place is soooo good. The customer service is top tier, I didn't quite catch the gentleman name who took our order but he was so funny and nice! We were not disappointed! The beans were good, the potatoes were so soft and buttery, the potato salad was marvelous. 9/10 I just wish it was hotter, but we did come towards closing time. Still amazing nonetheless! It was quiet in there, country music playing. Worth the money and we even got a sample of their burnt end pork belly, not sure if I got that correct but that's how you do business and customer service!
