The beans were advertised as a twist with no pork in them, and I think it might have been some walnuts (?) They were tasty, as was the slaw. The Wednesday night steak special is delicious! It came with two cornbread muffins and a baked potato. The steak was covered in a delicious compound butter. I ordered my steak medium rare, it came out medium. However, if was extremely juicy. So I didn't mind it being overcooked. The steak melted in my mouth and tasted like it was freshly grilled. The potato was nothing special. I do think charging fifty cents for sour cream is excessive. Every restaurant I've ever been to butter and sour cream are included when you order a baked potato. This was our 2nd visit to Smokey's, we were here about a year ago and truly enjoyed it so since we were in the area again we stopped in for Mothers Day. We were quickly seated and our waitress was prompt to arrive after that and took our drink orders & pointed out the specials. The menu was as we remembered it and the waitress was quickly back with our drinks and took our order. I went with the 1/2 slab of ribs and my wife got the pork platter. They were out to the table in a very reasonable time. Just like our previous experience the food was excellent. My ribs were perfectly done and fall off the bone tender. My wife's pork platter was very good she said. The restaurant was less than half full when we arrived but it was a pleasant crowd! It's a safe bet that we will return when we are next in this area! I'm always up to try a new BBQ place, and although it took me a while to get over here, I'm glad I made the trek. Atmosphere: It's comfortable and clean, even the men's room. The patio/porch is a nice place to sit on a breezy day like today. I ate at the bar yesterday, and that was fine too...comfortable bar chairs. Food: I read the other reviews, and all I can say is: if you had a bad meal here, I'm sorry about your luck. My food was pretty damned good; not perfect, but pretty good. The baby back ribs were dry rubbed and were perfectly cooked (meat fell off the bone). A half rack only has 6 bones, but there is A LOT of meat per bone! The beef brisket was also perfectly cooked. It was, however, a little fattier than I like. Mind you, it wasn't as fatty as Famous Dave's or Shorty's, but not as lean as City Q or Smoke BBQ. The cole slaw was excellent, as was the corn bread. I do agree with a previously reviewer in that the "intense smokey flavor" that I look for in a BBQ joint was lacking; not absent entirely, just lacking. The three house BBQ sauces were also a little less flavorful that what I prefer. Service: Awesome. Friendly and fast. Booze: Although I didn't drink, I noticed a nicely stocked liquor shelf, and enough taps that any casual beer drinker should be happy. Cost: A little more expensive than I thought. I have ate here before and it was much better. Tonight the food was greasy and salty. The french fries looked like they soaked in a pot of oil. The corn on the cob (which apparently I got the last one) was water logged and had absolutely no flavor. The service was ok but the waitress was rather unpleasant. What disappointed me the most was the CC surcharge that i got on my bill. When i asked the staff about this I was told that when we got our new credit card machine the fees are now passed on to the customer but if I pay cash the fee goes away. Do not waste your time or money here. The ribs and beef brisket were very dry. The ribs were over seasoned with little to no smoke flavor. They were not of competition quality of tugging off the bone, but rather tough to bite into and no moisture of the meat. Like eating a mouth full of peanut butter. The brisket was good, not to much fat and I liked the spicy BBQ sauce. I will start with saying this place deserves two separate reviews. Firstly my wife and I wanted to split a combo and add pulled pork to it. We couldn't do that and instead had to add an entire sandwich to the bill. When the meat came it was one disappointment after another. Pulled pork, brisket, baby back ribs. Not so much as a speck of smoke ring and no smoke flavor as either. The pulled pork was terrible and tasted like a crock pot version. I knew it was a bad sign when the BBQ place didn't have a woodpile or a smoker outside. I know you can get a quality commercial indoor smoker, but after tasting the BBQ I'm skeptical if what they're coming with. On the whole the sides are worthy of 5 stars and might bring me back. This is a brand new business that just opened on Woodville Rd. It is located in the former Ponderosa building. They have done an excellent job remodeling it. The woodwork is very nice. They have a nice big bar with twelve different beers on tap. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It comes with one side dish so I got the hand cut French fries. The pulled pork was delicious and tasted like it was slow cooked in a smoker for a long time. The roll was very delicious as well. The fries could have been a little better. They weren't very hot but they tasted okay. The only other complaint I have is I wish there could have been a little more pork on the sandwich as it didn't fill me up. It was very delicious though. The servers are all very nice and it didn't take long to get my food. I will have to try something different the next time I go. It's good to have another place to eat in Oregon. read more

Ok, first time here and it was not to bad. I am from Kansas City and I love BBQ and I get picky about it. I gave it 3 stars rather go 3 1/2 stars. Cheese curds were really good. Sweet potato tots were a family favorite. Mac and cheese aka cheesy pigtails was ok.. It was over cooked and to greasy for my taste. The pulled pork was good just wish it had more of a smokey taste. It was not fatty just had no smoke flavor. The Brisket was ok. It was more fatty than it should be. It to also needs to be smoked better. Pork was better in my opinion. The house BBQ sauce was a little to sweet for me and the spicy BBQ sauce was good. I would tell people to mix them for the best taste; again just my opinion. The corn bread with the honey butter was good. Just wish the corn bread muffins were just a bit bigger. Service was great and very friendly. Never had to ask for a refill.
