The beans were advertised as a twist with no pork in them, and I think it might have been some walnuts (?) They were tasty, as was the slaw. The Wednesday night steak special is delicious! It came with two cornbread muffins and a baked potato. The steak was covered in a delicious compound butter. I ordered my steak medium rare, it came out medium. However, if was extremely juicy. So I didn't mind it being overcooked. The steak melted in my mouth and tasted like it was freshly grilled. The potato was nothing special. I do think charging fifty cents for sour cream is excessive. Every restaurant I've ever been to butter and sour cream are included when you order a baked potato. The corn bread muffins were slightly sweet and moist. They were paired with a sweet butter. To top it off our waitress was very attentive, but we were the only table at 5:00. This was our 2nd visit to Smokey's, we were here about a year ago and truly enjoyed it so since we were in the area again we stopped in for Mothers Day. We were quickly seated and our waitress was prompt to arrive after that and took our drink orders & pointed out the specials. The menu was as we remembered it and the waitress was quickly back with our drinks and took our order. I went with the 1/2 slab of ribs and my wife got the pork platter. They were out to the table in a very reasonable time. Just like our previous experience the food was excellent. My ribs were perfectly done and fall off the bone tender. My wife's pork platter was very good she said. The restaurant was less than half full when we arrived but it was a pleasant crowd! It's a safe bet that we will return when we are next in this area! I love their portobello fries and brisket wraps the most, yet all their food is delicious. I do miss their pork rinds as they were the best I've ever tasted and I hope they bring them back. I'm always up to try a new BBQ place, and although it took me a while to get over here, I'm glad I made the trek. Atmosphere: It's comfortable and clean, even the men's room. The patio/porch is a nice place to sit on a breezy day like today. I ate at the bar yesterday, and that was fine too...comfortable bar chairs. Food: I read the other reviews, and all I can say is: if you had a bad meal here, I'm sorry about your luck. My food was pretty damned good; not perfect, but pretty good. The baby back ribs were dry rubbed and were perfectly cooked (meat fell off the bone). A half rack only has 6 bones, but there is A LOT of meat per bone! The beef brisket was also perfectly cooked. It was, however, a little fattier than I like. Mind you, it wasn't as fatty as Famous Dave's or Shorty's, but not as lean as City Q or Smoke BBQ. The cole slaw was excellent, as was the corn bread. I do agree with a previously reviewer in that the "intense smokey flavor" that I look for in a BBQ joint was lacking; not absent entirely, just lacking. The three house BBQ sauces were also a little less flavorful that what I prefer. Service: Awesome. Friendly and fast. Booze: Although I didn't drink, I noticed a nicely stocked liquor shelf, and enough taps that any casual beer drinker should be happy. Cost: A little more expensive than I thought. I have ate here before and it was much better. Tonight the food was greasy and salty. The french fries looked like they soaked in a pot of oil. The corn on the cob (which apparently I got the last one) was water logged and had absolutely no flavor. The service was ok but the waitress was rather unpleasant. What disappointed me the most was the CC surcharge that i got on my bill. When i asked the staff about this I was told that when we got our new credit card machine the fees are now passed on to the customer but if I pay cash the fee goes away. News to me..... i don't think I will be going back anytime soon. The 2 star rating instead of 1 is for some propr good experiences there. read more

Do not waste your time or money here. The ribs and beef brisket were very dry. The ribs were over seasoned with little to no smoke flavor. They were not of competition quality of tugging off the bone, but rather tough to bite into and no moisture of the meat. A year later (tonight), we decided to try it again. He ordered the BBQ Brisket wrap and I ordered the half rack of Ribs. He gave his wrap a rave review, it was very flavorful and he was pleased. Sadly, my ribs were once again barely warm and instead of fall off the bone tender, it was rubbery, fatty, and chewy. Im thinking I probably will not return. I went for the first time the other night. I couldn't decide weather to give it a 4 or 3 star. I think the value was good for the money. I ordered the Brisket with 2 sides. I chose the macaroni and cheese and baked potato. The baked potato was huge. I can see why people would like the macaroni but to me it was very Velveeta like, very thick. Like eating a mouth full of peanut butter. The brisket was good, not to much fat and I liked the spicy BBQ sauce. It also came with "corn bread" I use quotes because I am not sure there was any actual corn meal in it. Truly tasted like I was eating yellow box cake mix. Not my cup of tea. I will start with saying this place deserves two separate reviews. I imagine if you came and got a burger you might leave thinking it was a great place to hang out and eat (although I didn't try the burger). Sweet tater tots were amazing. Handcut fries were top notch and the Mac and cheese was gooey and delicious. Then there was the BBQ. Awful and not worthy of the name BBQ. Firstly my wife and I wanted to split a combo and add pulled pork to it. We couldn't do that and instead had to add an entire sandwich to the bill. When the meat came it was one disappointment after another. Pulled pork, brisket, baby back ribs. Not so much as a speck of smoke ring and no smoke flavor as either. The pulled pork was terrible and tasted like a crock pot version. I knew it was a bad sign when the BBQ place didn't have a woodpile or a smoker outside. I know you can get a quality commercial indoor smoker, but after tasting the BBQ I'm skeptical if what they're coming with. On the whole the sides are worthy of 5 stars and might bring me back. But I'll avoid the BBQ and since BBQ is in their name I must score this review in that context. read more

The burnt ends appetizer was ok, good taste, but in my opinion seemed old. Like not that day burnt ends. They were shriveled up; again, just my opinion. Fries yummy, beef ribs yummy, house sauce yummy, brisket yummy, ribs...per my hubby not yummy because the fat wasn't trimmed off and the rub was on the fat. Not the ribs. Not sure if this is normal, but every BBQ place we have visited trimmed the fat off. Corn bread to die for, pork and beans had a little too much of a ketchup taste but still yummy. Had baked pigtails as a side (mac n cheese) was the best part of dinner which was sad considering the prices. Each entree included cornbread muffins. Upon first bite we were taken back the sweetness. Its as though the owners kids left their easybake oven cupcakes and they placed on our plate (cutting board). This is a brand new business that just opened on Woodville Rd. It is located in the former Ponderosa building. They have done an excellent job remodeling it. The woodwork is very nice. They have a nice big bar with twelve different beers on tap. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It comes with one side dish so I got the hand cut French fries. The pulled pork was delicious and tasted like it was slow cooked in a smoker for a long time. The roll was very delicious as well. The fries could have been a little better. They weren't very hot but they tasted okay. The only other complaint I have is I wish there could have been a little more pork on the sandwich as it didn't fill me up. It was very delicious though. The servers are all very nice and it didn't take long to get my food. I will have to try something different the next time I go. It's good to have another place to eat in Oregon. read more

Ok, first time here and it was not to bad. I am from Kansas City and I love BBQ and I get picky about it. I gave it 3 stars rather go 3 1/2 stars. Cheese curds were really good. Sweet potato tots were a family favorite. Mac and cheese aka cheesy pigtails was ok.. It was over cooked and to greasy for my taste. The pulled pork was good just wish it had more of a smokey taste. It was not fatty just had no smoke flavor. The Brisket was ok. It was more fatty than it should be. It to also needs to be smoked better. Pork was better in my opinion. The house BBQ sauce was a little to sweet for me and the spicy BBQ sauce was good. I would tell people to mix them for the best taste; again just my opinion. The corn bread with the honey butter was good. Just wish the corn bread muffins were just a bit bigger. Service was great and very friendly. Never had to ask for a refill. The inside of the restaurant was really cool and fit a nice BBQ restaurant. Next time I will have to try the dessert menu, I hear it's pretty good as well! I would and will go back anytime. He was able to eat it once he covered it completely in BBQ sauce. The meat in both of our entrees was not smoked at all whatsoever.
