I don't know what changed, but Smokey's has been more consistent for the past several months than any of the previous seven years that I can remember. It seems like they just have better support for the grill master and that may be all the difference. They're more consistent and other than that nothing's changed. Albeit be randomly generated or a secret equation to a profit equation, theres no doubt the cost are affordable with a reasonable price to taste ratio. One fundanmental change that will drastically improve sales is a change in potatoes. Such choice can easily misfire when considering a combo meal. With limited seating operations, it becomes a case of speed munching or a mobile drop in to secure a better place to eat. We flew into Seattle and decided we needed to eat before heading to the AirBNB. We drove past Smokey's Char-broiled ... burgers, fries & milkshakes on the marquee...sounded perfect! It isn't much to look at & my family was super skeptical. But the place gave good energy so I hit up Yelp in hopes of shaming them for their judgement on curb appeal & felt vindicated as I read them the positive reviews. But the real victory was having Smokey's cheeseburgers, fries and milkshakes for lunch. Fantastic! Clearly a locals kind of place. I looked at the online menu, and saw a double bacon cheeseburger for $6.85 and fried mushrooms for $3.50. I figured the menu had likely not been updated in quite sometime, but I decided to stop in anyway. It's a little hole in the wall burger joint, surprisingly, with an Excellent food rating, and guess what? The online menu prices are spot on!! This place rocks, their burgers are great! You'll pay $12 to $15 for a burger at Zippy's or Li'l Woody's for the exact same burger. Definitely a gem of a burger joint! read more

i usually get my nails done across the street at Orchid Nails, and always looked over and wanted to try it after the 10 millionth time looking over. It's a really small place, there's a couple counter seats and 2 tables outside. I had the BLT with mushrooms. the BLT was 3.99 and the mushrooms cost me another 1$. I also ordered a bacon cheedar special which was around 7 bucks, and my total was around 14$ for 2 burgers, small fries, and a drink. The burger overall was pretty OKAY, i was craving a burger, and i would say it met up to my standards. the mushrooms were a great touch by the way! and i would come here again just because the burgers were pretty cheap. It was a favorite when I worked across the street at Consumer Opinion Services back in the 90's, and the quality has remained consistent. Still a good place to visit for a good milkshake, some delicious fries or fish and chips. Sad that covid has interrupted their business, hope they are able to return soon. read more

This place has HORRIBLE customer service. And on top of that there was maggots in my burger so I asked for a refund and they wouldn't give me my money back and tried to ask me if they could remake my food. This business has been on the corner of 1st Ave and 128th for a long while. Very small, not much seating but the food is very good. Hamburgers the way they should be. A few years ago, I wouldn't have dreamed of writing this review about this establishment. I recommended Smokey's to my girlfriend who was craving a burger. Thinking back to the last time I had a burger, Smokey's was my first choice. She ordered a Mushroom and Swiss burger, Onion rings, and a small vanilla milkshake. Boy, the lack of care that her food got was astounding. The onion rings were so over cooked that it was a chore to bite through, the burger maybe had a half a button mushroom on it, with what looked like half a slice of swiss on it but was the blandest thing I've put into my mouth since unsweetened soy milk. The only thing that was even consumable was the milkshake. The cook had airpods in and I doubt he is even paying attention to what he was cooking. Also no hairnets. WTF read more

Large menu, but the wait staff couldn't figure out how to use an Entertainment book coupon. I read and re-read the terms to her, but when I changed my order from three items because one of them came with fries, to only two items, she kept saying "No, you get the curly fries." I replied "No, I just want the other two items." She looked at me curiously and said "But you get the curly fries for free." I said "I only want the other two items, so please apply the coupon to the second, less expensive item. I know will only $5 off the least expensive, but that's ok." She again said "No, then you don't want the curly fries, they're free." There was nothing wrong with it. The fries had a nice bite to them, the double bacon burger was delicious, and their philly was good too. You can get everything your heart desires easily for under ten bucks. They are speedy and friendly and this is always a go to for a good burger. This is a popular place for everyone to go, and the prices make it possible for all sorts of people eat here. This WAS one of my favorite hamburger joints to go to. But after two incidences where I went in for my meal and asked for a shake and they said the shake machine was broken no shakes. So I went back some time later and they told me the shake machine was broke, really still !! I was suspect of this and a couple of other people came in and asked for shakes also and were told the same. then in walked a lady that asked for a shake and"Shazam" the machine was working for her!!! They balance out the rich burgers and shakes. Smokey's is a good basic burger, cooked on a grill, and served on a big bun with fresh veggies. If you're into bacon, the bacon is thick, flavorful, and cooked well. Like its location, it's nothing fancy and it doesn't try to be. The fries are crinkle cut and probably from the Albertson's across the street, but they're cooked properly and taste great. The onion rings are nice and crispy, so when you bite into them the onion breaks easily...there's nothing worse in the onion ring world than taking a bit and having the onion part get pulled out of the crispy part like a floppy earth worm getting pulled out of the mud. Smokey's is so straight forward that it's hard to review - the burgers taste great, the fries are good, the people are nice enough, and it's higher quality than the fast food chains. The ONION RINGS are great! Crispy texture, not greasy, don't need a dipping sauce they are good enough on their own. I've had the fish sandwich, the fish 'n' chips, and a burger, and liked them all enough. Nothing fancy going on here, and I kind of like things fancy to be honest. I saw a soft-serve machine, so I skipped the shake, I prefer my milkshakes with hard ice cream. Service is not fast, so allow some time to get your food. I ordered pick up and had a hard time placing my order as well as the gentleman on the other line understanding me so there were a few awkward silence moments and me asking if he was still there. I was unable to get everything I wanted because they were out of the mushroom burger, and the shake machine was broken. I still places n order because it was close and I was starving. Upon arriving the girl was not friendly and seemed irritated since they were closing up. I paid for my meal and waited while it was finishing. She gave me my fountain drink and it was incorrect and she said it written down wrong because I asked for Dr.Pepper and she thought it meant Diet Pepsi, honest mistake, but instead of tossing it she empties it and refilled it without rinsing the cup and touching my straw. My family has been going to Smoky's for years, and we had never had a complaint until tonight. This evening I called in an order for my parents and myself (double bacon cheeseburger and fries and 2 tarter sauces for dad, mushroom burger for mom, and a cheeseburger combo with fry sauce for me), and picked it up without issue. When I got home and opened the bag I realized that there weren't any fries in the bag. I called them, and the same man I'd talked to earlier (the only employee there tonight, other than the fry cook) said to come in. My mom asked what they would do for us since it was an inconvenience for us to have to go back again (a 15 minute drive), and he snapped that we would get our fries. After we hung up I also realized that he'd given me two fry sauces and a tarter instead of two tarters and a fry sauce, but I figured we'd just switch for the right thing when we arrived, no biggie. We got there and my mom went in to get the food while I stayed in the car with the dog. She came back a few minutes later, furious. He had literally given her a look up and down, and then had accused her of eating all of the fries that he'd supposedly already given us ("I always check my orders"), and would only give us one of our orders of fries. Not only was my mom embarrassed that he accused her of lying, but also that he'd fat shamed her in front of a group of about ten other customers. He also demanded that I should have been the one to come in because I was the one who ordered. He also gave my mom another fry sauce instead of the tarter that she asked to switch for. I went in, almost ready to cry. I'm terrible at confrontation, especially with strangers, and I knew this was about to suck. I walked up to the counter and said that he'd only given my mom one order of fries, and that he'd made a mistake on the sauce. He glared at me and practically shouted that I only ordered one fry. I told him exactly what I'd said on the phone, and that this is the same order we've been making for about 20 years (longer if you count when my family went before I was born), and that I always order two fries. He showed me what he wrote down on the order slip, slapping it down on the counter, making everyone look at us. He hadn't written down one of the orders of fries, but I was certain that he'd charged me for them. He didn't offer me a receipt when I picked up the food, but I wish had one. I just left at that point. This guy had me so upset that I was about to start sobbing in front of a room full of strangers. I will never be returning to Smoky's, nor will either of my parents. This young man, whose only defining feature is his floral snap back hat, has ruined what was once my favorite burger place. didn't have a name tag, or else he'd definitely be mentioned by name.
