Beef Brisket and the Ribs my husband hadn't already inhaled
    Sammi D.

Great small town BBQ joint. Meat is fantastic and big portions! My husband has gotten the pulled pork and the full rack of ribs--loved them both, especially the ribs which were so tender the meat was coming off the bone. I get the beef brisket which is also pulled--different than your typical brisket but so good. Use Eddie's Hot Sauce. Homemade desserts too. Support small and local businesses!!

The restaurant has a very laid back and relaxed feel. If you are in a hurry, they aren't fast, so pack your patience. The food was great and the portions were generous. We got the family meal which was a Lb of pulled chicken and two large sides for $22. They have a mild and hot bbq sauce, I wish they had something sweet. Everyone working was very nice and while we waited they checked on us several times.

Great Sandwich, the Brisket sandwich with slaw was a large sandwich, good bun and slaw was top quality and flavor well matched to the beef flavor. Not much smoked flavor but the brisket was yummy and tender. First time stopping here while passing through Louisa.

Been working in the center of Louisa and was looking for a quick lunch. The restaurant has a large open floor plan but feels dated, 1960's.. maybe. There is street parking in front and larger parking lot next door. My co-worker Charlie and I both went with the BBQ sandwich with slaw & fries $7.50. After about 30 minutes our food came out. We were getting a bit restless but remembered how busy they were when we arrived. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I went the BBQ sandwich based on how good it looked in the Yelp review photos. The BBQ sandwich and fries were good but not great. They were chincy on the slaw and after I let our server know, she brought out a small sauce cup with more. The bun was a bit soft for my liking and I would have preferred a vinegar sauce brought to the table. I wasn't impressed by the "mild" or "hot" sauce they offered. In end, we enjoyed our meal and the service but based on only having an hour for lunch I'm not sure if we would be back anytime soon. Service: 4.0 Food: 3.5 Value: 3.5

Even though there were a few setbacks with the cook messing things up, the food was great. I loved it! It really tasted home cooked. The restaurant was SPOTLESS. It was the most impeccable restaurant that I think I've ever seen. So clean and no weird odors in the air like a lot of other restaurants. You can tell that the owners keep up with the restaurant as much as possible. I will definitely come back again. This is now my favorite restaurant in Louisa.

Food is good but service is not as good. Prices on menu are not what they charge you. They say we've updated our prices but haven't told anyone or updated them on the menu. So pretty much lie about what your meal is going to cost you and don't even tell you after they ring you up. Figure if you don't say anything, they won't either and they will make more $$$. Not good for business. False advertisement is not right.

I selected the Pork Tacos PLATTER ($16), which featured three soft flour tortillas filled with smoked pulled pork, house-made pico (red onion, tomato, cilantro), and radish with a Baja drizzle. (Corn tortillas are available upon request). All platters come with two 8-ounce sides; from the 9 choices, we opted for the broccoli salad and onion rings. My husband selected a Smoked Pulled Pork SANDWICH ($10), which was served on a "signature-branded" bun with regular or spicy slaw (on the side) and with a bag of Lay's chips. All of our food was very good, and tasted fresh and homemade. The "branding" of the restaurant's logo on the bun was a fun touch, and we got a pleasant surprise in finding that the very tasty BBQ sauce on the tables was manufactured by GWB Hot Sauce in Clarksburg, WV (which we visit regularly to see a relative). Quantities were good for a filling lunch; we did not have leftovers for a brown bag. Two small comments: (1) my husband would've preferred a more generous helping of the slaw to put on his sandwich; and (2) it would be great to have a menu option that is vegetarian, perhaps a platter with three or four of the side dishes -- or at least showing a separate price for the sides on the menu. Ambiance. (4.5/5). The restaurant is country cute, with clean, well-spaced tables. Many of the tables were occupied while we were there for lunch but it didn't feel crowded. A few patrons seemed "local", and acknowledged the owner who was sitting with some buddies at one of the tables. The restroom was well-maintained. Service (4.5/5). There was only one (efficient!) waitress, handling in-restaurant and take-out orders, delivering food and drinks, wiping down tables, etc. Despite how busy she was, we felt taken care of. Parking, in a town of Louisa lot behind the restaurant, was free and easy. We will return.

My southern roots have to say no to the collards. Sorry! It's nice that they have 2 slaws and a variety of pickles to choose from and the hush puppies were perfect. They offer a variety of sauces and I preferred the Carolina sauce with a bit of Virginia sweet. That said, the overall experience didn't quite match the price point. At around $90 for three people, it felt expensive for a very casual, counter-service setting. They have a quick order cafeteria style service with most sides and meats right there to serve from the ordering counter. They offer a variety of pre-portioned desserts, cold alcoholic beverages, and meats and sides in larger portions to go We chose to sit outside, but the noise level was a major drawback--constant truck traffic and a very loud motorcycle shop next door made it hard to relax or enjoy the meal. These are things that the exchange cannot control, so if noise is an issue for you, sit inside and you will have a different experience. Overall, decent food, but between the cost and the noise, it wasn't the experience we were hoping for.

I decided to go with the smoked brisket and smoked hot dog...presentation was great but not a big fan of weighing bbq at the register but if that's your process, I get it....brisket was mid...looked re heated but lacked authentic smoke flavor...not sure if they use a true smoker or a variation of a pellet smoker/indoor smoker...it's on the same line as mission bbq...not bad but not winning a contest. Brisket prep is a hard skill to master...it depends on the person...some may prefer point of flat...try is particular brisket lacked flavor, there was a hint of smoke but not much else...brisket is a solid 7 out of 10.... Smoked Hot dog is winner...down to the bread, presentation and most important...Cole slaw. Does the hot dog give off a rich Smokey flavor....not really...is it worth the price...you bet. We got the bang bang shrimp and they were on point. They were definitely our favorite thing on this platter with the size, texture, and flavor all hitting the mark. The two sides hush puppies and cole slaws were also good. The two fried fish was a little underwhelming, with the cod being a little under-seasoned and dry. The catfish was seasoned well and soft but had that sort of slightly fishy flavor to it. I liked having multiple sauces both on the platter and the table (there were a bunch of different bbq sauces, which I'm sure go better with their meat offerings) - the butter and the zing of the North Carolina hot sauce were our top two sauces of the meal. Definitely enough food for two people but I wish there was a bit more on there than just the cole slaw to suppress the greasiness of the fried fish. Service was great and they have a good sized parking lot as well. Can't say anything about their bbq since we had the fish platter but as soon as you get to the parking lot, you can smell the fire going!

Server (Brianna) started out good, fairly attentive until I got my food. After I got my food I got one cursory "all good?" and that was it until I got the bill. Anyway, on to the food: ordered two meat plate (brisket and pulled pork) with fries and coles slaw. Fries were the highlight of the meal. Hot, crispy, seasoned...awesome. Cole slaw was good....but it was super tangy (vinegary) for my taste. Don't get it wrong, it was good, just hard to eat all of it thanks to the tang. On to the meat. Got a pretty good sized pile of pulled pork and a couple slices of brisket. Both meats were lukewarm at best. Pork was dry (thank goodness for the NC vinegar sauce). The brisket made up for the porks dryness, it was extra greasy and extra fatty. Like, for real, do you think people are going to eat the fat layer between the lean point meat and the fatty upper meat? Yeah, not me. But since the brisket was also lukewarm (more like lukecold) it really didn't make a difference. I did think the Vision BBQ sauce tasted pretty good. If Brianna would have come back by after I got my meal I would have sent it back....and probably would have just left without worrying over a replacement, or a comp, or anything. Secondary issue: went to the mens room. It was just nasty. You get once shot to make an impression, and this one was not good. Would not/will not repeat.
