Really fun dinner night. Wednesday dinner time. Not too busy, noise level was reasonable...until the cackleing table arrived and had a contest to see who could talk the loudest. But I digress. That's not on the business. Tatum was our server and was so nice and attentive! She took great care of us! Kept refills coming, frequent check-ins. Really sweet! The Vegas roll and dragon rolls were wonderful and beautifully prepared. Calamari was cooked probably the best I've had, it was consistently tender, crisp and was not rubbery or overcooked. My husband and I came here largely because he was hangry and they would let us sit outside with our dog. We started with the yellowtail crudo and some drinks. We ordered a sushi roll, the wagyu smash, and the poke bowl. Service was great despite us being the only ones outside. The inside was nice too. The food was really good. The smash is ludicrous lol, and naturally, my husband finished the whole thing. The only complaint is the sushi rice tasted like it didn't have mirin in it. It just tasted like rice. I enjoyed the fish tacos - substantial amount of stuff inside of them and happy that had options for either corn or flour because I can't do corn and Crystal can't do flour ! We also sat outside and it was nice that we were able to bring our friends dogs with us and enjoy the sunshine. The service was also very friendly and fast and they took excellent care of us. Crystal got the special that day which was prime rib and she said it was cooked perfectly and juicy and so were the potatoes with it. I finally made it for Dinner at Smokin Fins! My friend Sam , Ryan , and I came here last week while hanging out in Olde Town Arvada . We had the doggos with us so we wanted something delicious to eat but also where they would be ok with the doggos with us. We sat outside on this beautiful day with incredible and friendly staff. They were super accommodating and attentive to us. They brought out a water bowl for the dog and also dealt with our allergies and gave us some suggestions. I got the special which was the prime rib , cheesy potatoes, and asparagus with glaze on it. Ryan got fish tacos with rice and salsa and said it was delicious. And our friend got the shrimp tacos and said she loved how much shrimp they put inside! We also tried muscles and chorizo , and the shrimp tots. Everyone seemed pleased with their food and drinks! Our friend even tried one of the NA cocktails but they have a lot of choices here both alcoholic and non. Smokin Fin is a lovely large winding restaurant, with equally beautiful outdoor patio, which also wraps around with Elegant RED umbrellas. The bar is L shaped, service is fast, and I was fortunate to experience Smokin Fin when not too bustling busy. Service is more than GREAT, thank you personally to Chantal, affectionately named Shay; very attentive to questions with full explanations. Equally ample are the food menus, bar options and seating. They have space for private parties, possibly up to 80 some, which would include the back patio. Beautiful touch! Nestled in Old Town Arvada, today was a great day finding a parking spot, FREE which was Awesome. I ordered the Crab/Lobster fried Avocado with all the "hot" sauces on the side with deliberate intention. Crab and Lobster are delicate seafood meats and did not wish to taint their sweet qualities, thereby, requesting all three sauces to be placed on the side (delicious in their own spicy rights given they are rather spicy); which for myself would have altered the delicate taste of the crab and lobster. Honestly, the flavors stand alone in delicious unique fare, (this is a personal choice not smothering the intricate fair). The avocado was ripped to perfection! Along with a elegantly thin CRISPED to PERFECTION coating, frying avocado while still standing firm and very flavorful; this is an ART, achieved only by an adroit chef!! Being from Europe and the North East, I asked and was granted a taste of their New England Clam chowder; texture was delightfully smooth with a tasty crouton and bacon; Aspen enjoyed the bacon! Not quite New England style, yet darn good for Coloradian fare. Ice tea was made special after Shay, she offered her special "Honey Shake Ice Tea! For every dish we got that was good (sushi roll), we got another that was bad (tasteless calamari). Brought my family for dinner last night and we had a great experience. Since we live close to Olde Town, we've walked by a bunch and always figured we dine in eventually. Well last night was "eventually" and we all walked out full and content! The restaurant is incredibly spacious (something we look for now having a little one). They allowed us to have our stroller next to the table which was kind of them. From the service side, we couldn't have asked for better. Rose was informative, patient, and knowledgeable. She gave great recommendations including her personal favorites vs. customer favorites. Kudos! The menu also has quite a wide range of items. From sushi rolls, starters, tacos, sandwiches and entrées, I'd be shocked if there wasn't something for everybody here. Here's what I tried: Brussels & Cauliflower ($15) // Flash-fried with bacon, bleu cheese crumbles, balsamic glaze, and grilled lemon. Though an overplayed dish in this day in age, this was very tasty I will admit. The dipping sauce was a home run. The bacon and bleu cheese we found on the bottom of the dish after we ate the veggies. Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice ($16) // Crispy rice medallions topped with sliced avocado, spicy tuna, sliced Fresno peppers, sweet soy sauce, ponzu sauce, micro cilantro, and sesame seeds. It's difficult for me not to order this dish when I see it on a menu. It definitely lived up to the "crispy" element. The flavors were balanced and bursting with umami. My favorite bite of the night hands down! Sesame Crusted Ahi ($28) // Seared, Sesame-Crusted Ahi, sauteed spinach, red pepper, carrots, mushrooms, ginger, cabbage and edamame, on a fried rice puff with cucumber-red pepper relish. I liked my entrée the least out of my table. I love the idea of this dish, it just severely lacked seasoning. Especially on the vegetables. The tuna satisfied the craving, but overall left more to the imagination. I would order something else next time. Overall we had a nice time. We weren't rushed, the staff was attentive, and the food was flavorful. I also found the prices to be appropriate. The great food and wine hit the spot on a mid-week evening. This place is a where old world meets industrial decor. Lots of original wood and brick with some modern pipe work on the interior. The outdoor space was open yet intimate. Set on a street side with little traffic. Indy rock playing overhead made a nice setting for a great date night evening out. Wednesday was half off wine bottles. Pairing a nice Argentinian Malbec with some mango shrimp tacos and the fins platter made for a great experience. This was my first time to this establishment and without a doubt I will come back. The hostess politely informed us the kitchen was quite backed up and meals coming out may take longer than usual. We were in no rush and planned to relax and enjoy our meal regardless. When asked if we wanted a high or low table and we said whatever is easiest for you, she turned and thanked us for being easygoing. Sara C, our server, was informative and offered many recommendations. Sara had an exuberant demeanor, smiles for days and a never ending attention to detail. Despite appearing to be running around and rather busy, Sara was very attentive, ensuring our drinks remained full and we were satisfied with our meal. We had the lobster tots, cedar salmon, honey-chipotle salmon, key lime pie and salted caramel brownie. We would absolutely recommend the main courses as they were cooked to medium as stated with excellent flavors. The lobster tots appetizer was good but not something I would go out of my way to get. I have been wanting to try this place for several years and was simply never in Old Town Arvada. The craft fair put me right at the front door just as lunchtime was rolling up. Very fortuitous. We walked in were surprised how large the building was. It simply doesn't look that large from the outside. I was expecting a Red Lobster kind of place but it's much nicer. The decor is very inviting and pleasant. The menu choices are incredible and their bar area is really nice. I'll definitely return for dinner and have some wine and fresh oysters as well. I ordered the fish and chips with extra tartar sauce and they were delicious. The fish was crispy and light while not being greasy. The fries were perfect and the tartar sauce was one of the better tartar sauces I've ever had. My friend had the blackened mahi tacos and he really enjoyed them. The only thaw on the lunch wax the service was slow and we rarely saw her. It took fifteen minutes to even place our order. There were three fish type tacos on the menu and my friend asked for one of each instead of three of one kind. Sort of like a taco sampler and our server declined that request. The food was very good. The service, was very bad. After being told the wait was 15 minutes, we agreed and I gave my phone number. We did not have a reservation so that wait was more than reasonable. We stood outside waiting since it was a very nice evening. We waited for about 45 minutes before I went back in to check. The very nice hostess said she was sorry, but there was still a wait. After another 15 minutes we went inside, three of us, and we were then seated almost immediately at a table in the bar area. This is where the service got really bad. The bartender eventually came over to our table and took a drink order. I had water, my daughter had lemonade, my husband had a beer. We ordered two appetizers since by that time we were pretty hungry. The beer came back and was forcibly placed on the table, my daughter didn't even have time to ask for a straw since the waiter/bartender left so abruptly. Our first app came out after about 20 minutes and was left without small plates so we had to just eat off the serving plate. We had finished that before our second app arrived, this time with small plates. Our waiter then came back and asked if we wanted to order anything else. We did and ordered our entrees. These came out within a reasonable timeframe and were very delicious. We noticed this same bartender treating the two tables that were sat after us in a completely different manner and was much more engaging and polite. We did not do or say anything to warrant this kind of treatment and I would have chalked it up to the bartender having a bad day, if there hadn't been such a difference in how we were treated in comparison to the others around us. I am disappointed because we had been here before and had both wonderful food and service. This was only the second time in my memory we have left a zero tip. I feel bad, but there has to be consequences to bad service. read more

An absolute must and treasure is the Chilean sea bass dish! Do not even think about not getting it- it's the star of the whole menu! So soft and buttery with a perfectly crispy edge so much umami. Bathed in such soft delicate mashed potatoes and beets and Brussels- so so good! Every bite was unreal- and the serving size was incredible I was able to share some with two other people and still barely finish. Scraped my dish clean! I did not like the dragon roll. Partially my issue was I didn't read the menu properly and typically a dragon roll has eel, but this one obviously didn't. The shrimp was too chewy and it just wasn't my favorite combo of ingredients. Rice tasted stale. I gave someone else my roll to finish. Overall, I would definitely come back for the Chilean sea bass! We had a group of 8, with a reservation for 5pm on Mother's Day. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived with a handful of tables with customers at them. We were promptly seated and greeted by what appeared to be managers on the way to the table. Our server Jacob, was awesome especially having to mitigate what management should have later. We were seated promptly to an awesome booth that could have easily sat 10 people. Our server took our drink order which took just a few minutes to deliver. Our appetizer order was taken by Jacob with directly after our drink order however the three appetizers took approximately 40 minutes to arrive. While waiting for the appetizers a Jacob took our dinner orders. Our meals took over an hour to arrive. Jacob came to our table approximately 10 minutes before the meals did apologizing for the wait and offered to "make it right" and offered to get a round of drinks to "take care of us". The drinks arrived shortly after and the meals started arriving 5 minutes later (it's 6:34 now). The meals: The Poki Bowl was fresh and enjoyable The ribeye was nicely seasoned and cooked as ordered Shrimp scampi tasted like vinegar Macaroni with cheese with Lobster was runny and the sauce tasted like warm milk The "managers" were still in close proximity but never approached our table, the poor server was forced to make all apologies during our visit. We were there for an early mothers day dinner this Saturday. Our waitress name was Natalia, she was very attentive to our table and the other tables she had. I had the Fins Plater with fried fish beer battered shrimp and coconut shrimp my only complaint was the beer battered shrimp the were over cooked and rubbery, There was 2 fish and chips a poke bowl Baja fish tacos and cedar smoked salmon.
