    Cobb Salad
    Michelle E.

I went to Yard House in Vernon Hills with two friends on a Saturday right when they opened at 11AM. We were greeted right away and seated at a roomy booth. My first impression of this place is that it's huge with a large bar and a lot of tap beer! Our waitress, Debbie, was extremely friendly and personable, we all really liked her. She showed us the electronic menu on the table, which had photos of all the food items on the menu- super helpful! We order the Spicy Tuna Stack and garlic noodles to start, both were delicious. We also ordered the brussels sprouts, which we didn't like at all. We sent them back because they were oily, over sauced, and didn't taste good. For entrees we order the steak bowl, sliders, and Cobb salad with chicken. All were good! Only complaints are that I requested no bacon in my salad but it had bacon anyway, and we requested sweet potato fries with the sliders but received regular. The waitress took care of the fries right away and they did offer to adjust the salad but I kept it and just scooped the bacon out. Overall, friendly staff, some hit or miss items on the menu, nice atmosphere.

Updated review, came in for the happy hour, which is from 3 pm - 6 pm Monday to Friday and you can make a reservation! It was crazy busy until about 6:30 pm then no lines at the front! We had sliders (there were 4 of them and with fries, very juicy this time), chicken nachos (huge and had lots of flavor and crunch, needed more sour cream and guacamole), calamari (this was not good, lots of small pieces and dry) and of course my favorite, the truffled mushroom pizza (this was really tasty and you can smell and taste the truffle)! The noise level is a different story, it was loud that you can't really have a conversation without screaming at each other!

I have heard good things about this restaurant and they just opened up a location in Vernon Hills. Parking is ample and the restaurant is plain, modern and clean. Rocky the bartender was very friendly and she made the best lavender lemon drop martini I have ever had! The 20 oz ribeye with added grilled shrimp on a skewer was tasty with delicious mashed potatoes and grilled baby broccoli is plenty for 2 people. The complementary Oreo Brookie dessert for my special occasion was very good too. I will definitely come back for happy hour and try something different.

We had a group of 11 people today, the staff was awesome, always asking if water refills were needed. Service was excellent. And my Spicy seafood jambalaya was awesome. Definitely recommend that dish. The wife had Mac n cheese, her favorite.

When I found out that Yard House was coming to Vernon Hills, I was ecstatic. I used to frequent the Yard House in The Glen back when I worked in the area but had not been there in a few years. The regular prices for entrees are imo a bit steep, but it's more or less commiserate with other similar restaurants in the area. If you happen to make it for Happy Hour though, the prices are relatively a great value. In my most recent visit to the Vernon Hills location, we ended up going in the evening on a Saturday and thus no happy hour. My friend and I tried the seared tuna burger, crispy brussel sprouts, poke nachos, and I had some slider dogs for Oktoberfest. Everything was enjoyable but the stand out for me was the seared tuna burger. It was not something I have had before. Typically anything in fish form and in a burger has always been fried for me. This was my first time trying a fish burger where that wasn't the case...and it was delicious! As you might expect, beers here are solid too.

first time coming to yard house I know they have a location in glenview as well however I have never been. I went over this valentines day weekend I really enjoyed my experience here. they have a lot of options on the menu. service was a bit on slower side but that was to be expected as it was a special weekend for many. I liked the big booths very comfort seating and I liked the music that was playing as well. Definitely ill be back again to try some new dishes.

My friend from out of state wanted to go to Yard House for her birthday, and it ended up being such a blast. We got there toward the end of happy hour, and the place was packed. We filled up on apps and had a few drinks, and even though it was a little loud, that's pretty expected for a booming open-bar restaurant. One thing I really appreciated was how helpful our server was with my gluten-free needs. They walked me through the menu, and I was pleasantly surprised by how many GF meal options they had that weren't just salads. Really the only downside is the parking, which can be a bit of a hunt, but the nearby garage definitely helps. Overall, great vibes, great service, and a solid spot to hang out.

Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich with Gardein patty

I came in here for a Mommy/daughter lunch date with my 3 year old daughter and was very excited to see so many Gardein options available to sub - I just wish there were Gardein nugget options on the kids menu. I had the Nashville hot sandwich, with a Gardein patty. It was a bit oily for me, but the flavor was nice. The fries were perfection, and the children's Mac and cheese portion was HUGE. Solid leftovers for two more meals. Our server was attentive and friendly, and I loved the ease of paying directly from our table without needing to wave down the server. I am looking forward to returning to try the extensive beer list when I get to have an adult outing again.

Service and selection are what Yardhouse is known for but their food is excellent too. You can find something you like here for sure. I have been there a few times, since it is close to work, mostly for lunch. This time I had the Cheesesteak, called the House Cheesesteak. It was juicy and cheesy. It tasted like the bread was baked there too. I was in a group of 6 and we all agreed to return soon. The decor is nice too, clean and comfortable and beer related. Even the door handles are yards.

We drove by Yard House about two times after it opened and each time it looked like the parking lot was full. On this afternoon, the parking lot was about half full so we decided to take our chances. It was a lovely afternoon and we decided to eat inside instead of outside. We were seated promptly and ordered quickly. We split an order of Brussels sprouts and I picked the beer battered fish tacos. The fish were so crispy and light, not at all heavy or greasy and I decided that next time I would get the fish and chips. BTW the fish tacos were great -- and quite a generous portion -- along with beans and a side of rice. There's quite an extensive menu - so there's something for everyone. The staff was also friendly, and for a time, we had not one, but two wait staff ready to serve us.

The perfect place for happy hour! I went out with a group to check out the specials, which include 1/2 price appetizers and $2 discounts on drinks from 3-6 p.m. We ordered spinach dip, cheese pizza and mushroom pizza from the appetizer menu and assorted drinks. Everything was delicious. I especially loved the mushroom pizza and passion fruit spritz cocktail. Our server was friendly and attentive and made sure we didn't need to order anything else before happy hour deals ended. Overall, it was a great experience!

The standard vibe you'd expect from this kind of location. The service was mediocre I'd say - she didn't seem to understand our asks (or not care?), when ordering we had to repeat lost things and when serving the left it one the table (no "enjoy" or other friendly comments). Not to their drinks: we were up for cocktails today but their listed options on the menu are not overwhelming. I asked for a Negroni (repeated it twice, ended up spelling it for the waitress) but they couldn't do it. House margaritas cannot done "frozen" as they don't seem to have something to crush the ice The food was decent but we only tried the lettuce wraps as we were quite disappointed overall so left. I'd say there is ways to improve!!

I've visited this new-ish Yard House location twice already. It's easily become a great spot for happy hour! The service has been stellar both times. SHOUT OUT TO KEIRRA FOR MY BIRTHDAY DESSERT! The food and drinks have been really good and you can't beat their happy hour specials. It's a great place for sharing - the chicken nachos are gigantic! Had to knock off a star for two reasons: 1) the parking lot fills up FAST. 2) the acoustics aren't great and it's pretty loud in the restaurant. I wouldn't recommend coming here for a quiet meal. All that said, I'm sure I'll be back and I'm excited to try out more of the menu!

Our server Chad explained the menu in detail, offered recommendations, and took great pride in the restaurant. Everything is made from scratch, and they have a beautiful open kitchen. We started with the octopus, which our friends and Chad both recommended, and it lived up to the hype. They sous vide it so it's super tender, then crisp it for that little crunch you want in an octopus appetizer. The romesco and chorizo combo had us scraping the plate clean. For dinner, my husband had the hanger steak served with a large bone filled with bone marrow, along with brioche, truffle butter, and the Aligot and Brussels sprouts for sides. The Brussels and butternut squash were sweet, spicy, crispy, and salty - just amazing. I had the monkfish, which is very similar to lobster, and it was delicious! For dessert, we shared the crème brûlée, and like everything else we ate tonight, we left no crumbs. We can't wait to go back!

Overall, the food was very well seasoned and packed with flavor. The chicken was moist and tender. Probably one of the best pieces of chicken I've ever had. The burger was also absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this spot.

It is a noisy place full of older customers that know everyone in the place. Lots of customers hugging the staff, talking with the owners, and other tables. A great atmosphere if you are a local. One of the owners even suggested carrot cake for our desert. Really good by the way. We did see a number of regulars tables that were receiving complimentary appetizers. I get it, but you should treat first time customers the same to make them repeat customers? The issue was with service and how we were treated after we had to get service. Our server disappeared once our main course was ordered. Yes the place was packed, but the server made sure she kept on touching base with the regulars tables and we received less attention. Well like no attention. Well like we had to go to the bar to one of the owners to get our check. Well and when my significant other tried to comment that we had a lack in service the owner walked away from us. She turned a really nice first time experience into a never going back and write a bad review experience. (And my significant other was mad the whole evening, which made the event worse for me.) So even though I wanted to at least give them a 2 star review I had to tie it back to the tip we gave of $1. Regretfully we will not be going back to The Green Room.

I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, the staple menu item I order each time I visit. My guest ordered the Mongolian beef. My pad Thai came out visibly different than times past. It looks almost watered down and the tofu was not coated and seared with the beautiful crust it normally has. I ate it and it tasted... sour. Normally this pad Thai leans savory over sweet, but this time it just straight up tasted sour. The tofu was nothing to write home about, which is typically not the experience I have here. The Mongolian beef tasted like it had more sear on the meat than actual beef. It tasted over-charred. The rice and veggies were good, but that's kind of a simple feat. I ordered the Pomegrantate martini which was good. The space was also very hot, I understand it's a hot day and a busy restaurant but my legs were dripping in sweat the entire hour we were there. I will give them a try again, because I know from previous experiences the pad Thai was usually great. That tofu is what I keep coming back for! Hopefully next time it'll meet my expectations. This was this past weekend on Friday night.

When you pull up to the plaza you would think anything of the restaurant but when you go inside it's a fun colorful experience. When we were seated we were brought waters and menus. We took some time to look at the menus but ultimately took our server's suggestions on drinks. I ended up having a virgin Rose Colored Glasses drink and absolutely loved it. The drinks were large and I felt they were worth the price. My husband got an old fashioned. To start we got the cheese curds, and when I tell you these cheese curds still live rent free in my mind I kid you not. They were so good, the cheese was battered in a tempura batter with a truffle cream sauce and it made for such an incredible dish! For our entrees we got the pork chop with the brown butter sauces and bavette with a red wine reduction. The pork chop was great with the brown butter you just gotta make sure you mix it up, and the red wine was a bit too salty for me but it was okay because I ended up loving the steak by itself! For our sides we got the grilled zucchini under the snacks option instead of the sides option because I wanted all the fixings. It was a great choice! The fixings really made and I could eat a plate of that and just be happy (with the cheese curds of course). The wiped potatoes were great as well. Now I was going to pass on dessert because I was SO full already, but twist my arm when you tell me the cookie dough ice cream is a must try. It had real cookie dough chunks on top and bottle and the vanilla ice cream was not boring vanilla, I ate almost half of that bowl and couldn't stop. The chocolate chip cookie dough was house made and it was the perfect blend of sweet and salty that tied the whole ice cream bowl together. Can't recommend that enough as well. All in all, we had a great experience! It was so fun to see so many regulars and so many new folks who came in to dine at the same time as us and we all peeked to see who ordered what before we ordered and got some great recs as you can see! Can't wait to come back to enjoy my favorites and more!

Started with the bread and crabcakes and the bread was amazing and definitely fresh but the crabcakes needed more crab and flavor. Basically everything needed more flavor. We also ordered a bottle of wine which our server struggled with and never came over to refill the glasses. Then the entree's; my husband's bolognese was bland and desperately needed at least salt and pepper. Then the real problem was my steak which was supposed to be medium came out well done and then classically when it was recooked came out rare or medium rare if you are being generous. Then the waitress said she would check back and she didn't so I had to get salt myself from the server station which is kinda ridiculous especially when paying $54 for a steak that already has no seasoning which is why they offer free sauces which makes a lot of sense now. When she finally did come back I said it was under but not waiting for it to be overcooked again so reheating it at home with the cold side of mushrooms I ordered WITH my steak. I did talk to the manager after and he was not really helpful or sympathetic and I was really talking to him so in my review I could say well at least management cares but that is not the case here. I gave 2 stars because their drinks are good and the ambiance is nice and the hostess was super friendly and was the star employee after our visit. Also we paid for everything even the cold mushrooms and over/under cooked steak! At minimum also remake my mushrooms or comp them. Would I eat here again hopefully not but it is locationally desirable for me and my in-laws and have lots of GF options so might have to and if I do hopefully they will have made things better.
