It is a great location and it pulls big crowds in the summer especially with its outdoor area. I gave it 4 stars because the people who go there regularly seem to love it. We have tried it twice, the last time was about a year ago and don't recall what we ate so it must have been okay (if we had loved it we'd have gone back again, and if we had not liked it, we would have rememebered that too) so that fact that we would go again says a lot. I like staying local so we will try it again. We might be a bit too sober for the evening crowd so maybe we will stop in for lunch. I will say that the people in the outdoor area seem to be having the time of their lives. Give it a try! read more

I've now been here a couple times with friends. I know it's been around for awhile but only discovered it half way through the summer. This is a place for everything and I have not been inside yet. They have a nice ample parking lot that fills up on warm summer days as they have so much going on. Outdoor seating under a large tent with a full bar, sand volleyball courts, jumbo television for sports, and more! The first time I came with a few friends and the food and appetizers were great! We had ordered a bunch of apps and my sandwich was very tasty. The last time I visited was with my Burger Club and the burger was just okay. The apps were very good, but the burger was okay, nothing special. However, I think the main reason people come is for all the outdoor options and of course, the pizza from Emil's. Service from Amanda was excellent...attentive and friendly, without hovering! She didn't let any glass go empty or joke go untold in this cool, spacious bar. The food...battered mushrooms for starters, were delicious---copious, hot, crunchy and perfect. Moving on, after a couple of Anti-Hero IPAs, we had broasted chicken, Reuben Sandwiches, and Grilled Chicken Sandwiches...and mountains of crispy, hot, highly-dippable tater tots. The Reuben was heaping, the Chicken Sandwiches were large, juicy double breasts with wonderfully crisp bacon and bbq sauce, and the flavorful broasted chicken pieces were great--4 pieces was enough to take some home. Excellent job by the busy kitchen staff! We will be back in the Spring, for music, volleyball, bags and other outdoor bar sports. What a fun place to visit. The outdoor patio is so interesting and buzzing with patrons. The bar scene looks like a bunch of fun. There are volleyball nets, a small pool, and games to play as there were several people interacting and having fun. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. We went there for dinner, so we sat outside under the tent. I had a cheeseburger with fries, my Dad had the PorkChop special and my son had steak nachos. The food is tasty, environment is fun, and no complaints at all. I've been here a handful of times and have always had fun!! Give it a try, it's a fun, social joint. Good Food, Bad Vibes The food? Solid. My daughter's burger and fries for just $5.50--a steal. Generous portion, actually tasty. The waitress was friendly and helpful, no complaints there. But here's where things went south: I took my 11-year-old daughter here on a Saturday night around 8:20, and we got an unexpected side of drunken chaos. Some loudmouth, clearly over-served, was screaming and cursing nonstop for an hour while glued to the gambling machines. Real classy. Look, I get it--it's a bar and grill, but management needs to step up. If you allow families, maybe keep an eye on the inebriated entertainment? Kids shouldn't have to eat their fries while getting a crash course in sailor talk. Would I come back? If you are looking for a place to be over served this is it. I took my family here for dinner at just before 7pm. The entire bar area was extremely loud and full of drunk people. We sat down to eat and people were yelling at each other starting fights by the gambling machines. No one from the place attempted to stop them. I asked our server who was excellent by the way what the deal was. She told me the bartenders father had a birthday and they had been drinking all day long. She apologized but agreed it was out of hand. This is not a place I would recommend to anyone. We regularly visit their other restaurants in grayslake such as Emil's and center cut but will be rethinking supporting the owners. Definitely not a family friendly place even during dinner hours. read more

I have been coming to Crossroads for years. Jack the owner is a terrific guy. The food is reasonably priced and good and the staff is awesome HOWEVER the Men's bathroom is getting pretty disgusting, and I have reasonably low standards for a bar but I went in there last week and when I came back to my table I couldn't even finish my food I was so grossed out. For as much business as this place does please spend a couple thousand dollars to redo. I have to imagine the ladies feel the same about their restroom? read more

I've been to Crossroads 3 times now. There was a small band I wanted to see it called "Kev and Matt" who was fantastic. The problem is people were smoking in the enclosed outdoor area (including the manager or owner) which caused me to to leave early. Not OK. The chicken nachos were OK and the cocktail prices were reasonable. The mai tai I had was really good. The bartender was also very attentive. The smoking is not good. We love this place for breakfast - just moved here from Austin, TX and were looking for a regular place for brunch. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the breakfast menu is diverse! We've taken several out of town guests here, and they've all loved it! The lunch / dinner menu isn't as impressive - mostly heavy bar food, but now that we know that, we get here while they're still serving breakfast. Highly recommend! read more

I would like to give zero stars but it won't let me. We are in the middle of a terrential rain storm and we stopped to eat at the restaurant. Walking to the restaurant ( walking with a cane) in the pouring rain because you have cars illegally parked in the handicap spots. In addition the parking lot was completely flooding so getting out of the car the water ran over my feet hitting my ankles. When we get to the restaurant we are instructed to go to the outdoor dining section. So we walk there, walk inside and now we are told they are not serving food because it's a liability to walk to the outdoor dining. It was a liability to have us walking all over. So when we question the liability nonsense we are then told that they don't have enough staff so the kitchen closed. This was our first time and our last. Why it wasn't put on their website is beyond me and people were sitting in there with to go containers. Either way the whole thing gave us a bad vibe and we didn't appreciate dragging 4 people through your parking lot with signs hanging on your doors that were incorrect. It's a shame too, we were looking forward to trying your restaurant. read more

This is by far one of the worst bars I've ever been to in the summer time they don't have any indoor seating and they instruct everyone to their outdoor area because they apparently are too lazy to clean the inside in the inside the people here from there from the 2 times I went are drunk and way overserved and this is a terrible place the food is junk and the place is very dirty and again the crowd here is among the worst I've ever seen in a bar . Yikes. A good indication of any restaurants cleanliness is their bathrooms. Absolute nightmare. Food tasted ok however both my wife and I are now seeing the err of our ways. .. The three of us that had the French onion soup are all trading trips to the loo.. On top of it, the server had the personality of a wet wash rag, and didnt even clear our dishes as we ate. Another drink? Dont count on it unless you call to her as she passes with blinders on. Now you may say, well, perhaps she was busy.... she had two tables... Would I go there again? Nope. my wife and I really like the crossroads restaurant and whenever we're up in the area go there for their broasted chicken.. yesterday we stopped in and had two of the four piece broasted chicken meals in noticed one consistent factor, they cut out the chicken tender from the breast just serve obviously as chicken tender meals which then causes the chicken breast to become dried out when it's broasted. I came after golfing with some friends the other day as we used to frequent this place after a long day of 36 holes. I remember the dollar burgers and tacos and we dropped a ton for those prices. Well, the placed has changed... They remodeled a bit and now have a nice outdoor patio that looks great. The staff is still just as friendly. The prices have changed a tad, but that was expected. How long can you serve $1 burgers and tacos and stay in business?? The burger I ordered was perfect - juicy and BIG! The drinks were topped off on a regular basis. My first time visiting is during the winter, I know they have an outdoor patio, pool and volleyball courts, so I can not wait to come back during the summer. We were in the sunny front of the restaurant, which was nice, but if you get hot easily I would not sit there. I had the steamed garlic mussels, that were just delivered fresh that day and they were excellent. Loved their Garlic broth and fresh buttered bread roll. Walked in and saw no one seating anyone, bartender was oblivious so I got my own table around 4:30 on a Friday. Tables filled up quick with local groups drinking and carrying on. I was awaiting for my sister to join me, but no one came to ask me if I wanted a drink or if I wanted a menu. My sister turned up 10 minutes later and told her not to get comfortable because if no one showed up to greet us in five minutes, we were leaving. She headed to the bathroom. Came for the fish fry, but didn't smell any food smells, so I thought maybe we were sitting in the wrong place -- but there was ketchup on the table, so food apparently existed here. When sis came back, the friendly Hispanic bus boy gave us a menu. After flailing them around for several minutes a waitress came to see if someone had gotten us drinks, "NO" we said in unison, so she went and got another girl. I ordered a Coke and a shot of Jack, which came in a tiny cup that you would get your meds in at the hospital -- $5. We both ordered the AYCE fried cod dinner, complete with a BOWL of NE Clam Chowder, fish, fries, and coleslaw. Chowder had nice chunks of clams, potatoes, pimentos, but was a little under seasoned. Slaw was also under seasoned. The French fries were pale, but done and not greasy. The fish was great -- not dense, but flakey, nice color without being over-cooked and not greasy. Came with a big wedge of lemon and "tartar sauce" that was mostly mayo and again, no seasoning. Overall, it's still better and a better value than Mickey Finn's. As others said, it looks like a family place from the outside, but it's locals waiting on regulars. The place was loud and boisterous for not even being happy hour. The Hispanic bus boy was more attentive than any waitress in the place, and certainly more friendly. Will probably be back for apps and some beers once it warms up. read more

I have been going here for years with my friends from Saddlebrook Farms. Usually the service was pretty good. The food is hit and miss. But tonight was outrageously bad. We had a reservation at 5 PM for 7 people, but no one was working to seat us. So after waiting awhile to took a table in the corner. A man I think was one of the owners asked if we were the reservation, and we told him we were. Then we waited and waited. I had to flag down someone to get the menus. Finally our waitress came and took our drink order. Her name is Morgan. We asked for separate checks. She took the meal order and that was it. When we got our checks there was an addition of $7 as a tip. That was fine for my check as my husband and I had a bill of over $40. But one of our guys was single and had a bill of only $14. He also had a tip added of $7. When he asked about it Morgan said it is on the menu that because we asked for separate checks there was a charge of $7 per check. I never saw that on the menu, and like I said we have been going there for years. Well let me tell you we are not going back any more. That was something we all agreed on. Went here for the first time over the weekend It wasn't busy at all very warm in there and service was strange. Not the same server who started us had 3 different ones. Wasnt checked up on the food after it was served. 5 bucks for a not good very hard over toasted bread bun bad hot dog and a bag of chips lol not even homemade. Awful Tuna salad was very different tons of pepper and chunks of red onion just not at all good or how it is at a nice mom and pop diner. Mozzarella sticks were a nice concept with the egg roll but ours were on the cooler side and not the gooey melty cheese we were starving so we ate it. They for sure have well water so be prepared for that. Just overall not to happy with end expierence and food. Not sure if we are willing to try this again read more
