Slab of ribs
Yaz B.

Been wanting to try this bbq spot for a while. So glad I did! The bbq ribs were super flavorful and loved that I could I could actually chew the meat on the bone. We also had pulled pork, brisket and chicken and all were just as good. The sides were delicious and next time we will get a family size as we definitely needed seconds. The best part is that they have their own parking and you don't have to pay/find parking downtown. Most people take it to go but they have a cute little patio to enjoy your food if you would rather have it nice and fresh.

Beef Brisket (with mac & cheese and collard greens with turkey)

This food trailer, located in downtown Fresno next to the Tioga-Sequoia Beer Garden on Fulton Street, boasts all the ingredients that define a great barbecue joint, including high-quality cuts of meat, a slow-smoking process, excellent sauces and sides, and a welcoming atmosphere. I have ordered the beef tri-tip, beef brisket, and pork ribs so far. All the meats were tender, juicy, and infused with a smoky flavor. These are hallmarks of good BBQ. The BBQ sauce was not overly sweet or too heavy, just enough to enhance the flavors of the meat. All the meats had a rich color and caramelized crust. The pork ribs were harmoniously sweet and savory, reddish-brown and perfectly cooked: tender, juicy, slightly bouncy, and easily pulled back from the bone. Their other featured meats include boneless chicken thighs, homemade beef links, pulled pork, beef short rib, and smoked salmon. They offer classic, well-executed BBQ sides including mac & cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, green beans, brussel sprouts, collard greens with turkey, and BBQ baked beans (pork-based). All of them will elevate the entire meal. An 8oz will cost you $5.00. All plates come with two sides. You can order four servings or 24 ozs for $15.00. The honey-buttered bread rolls are $0.50 each, even though one bread roll should be complimentary per meal. Plan to order take-out to avoid the scorching heat. I wish there were misting fans and better shading to provide proper cooling in their outdoor seating area. The indoor dining area is currently under reconstruction and will remain closed for the remainder of the summer. I have been warmly greeted with bright smiles on each visit. They help make suggestions on what to order and know the care that goes into preparing the meats and sides. You can see they have a genuine passion for the craft of BBQ. The smoky, flavorful meats are cooked to perfection, and the sides are a nice complement. Be sure to wash it all down with a blackberry lemonade.

Great bbq spot! I love their potato salad. We order 1 plate of chicken thighs and brisket with a side of macaroni and potato salad. I got the tritip sandwich with a side of potato salad. The brisket was so tender, melted in your mouth. We were at tioga brewery and ordered the food and headed back to eat it at tioga. The place does have seating inside and outside, as well as bathroom outside. They play good music too. The staff is nice and we asked for recommendations and they said the chicken thighs, which we went with it and they were right. I want to try their desserts next!

Came here for lunch with some friends. We shared a platter among 6 people and still barely finished. The meats were all very well marinated and cooked just to the point of being tender yet not medium rare. I actually was a really big fan of the sides as well! The only thing I would say was that it was kind of hot inside so I'd suggest coming on a cooler day

Been here a few times and they are consistently good! I got 3 different types of meats the brisket, ribs and chicken with 2 sides baked beans and macaroni and cheese. Not bad for about $30 and definitely can feed 2! Food comes out quick and hot, I am in love with the spicy barbecue sauce here! Come early because they sell out fast

Food: tri tip dry, ribs both undercooked and overcooked in same order, brisket dry and sliced wrong. Sides okay, not great. Service: poor Ambiance: poor-music horrible and way too loud. Fun factor: non existent. Recommendation for barbecue lovers: Bypass. Overall: below average. My food dollars spent are getting higher and higher. I expect more

Whenever I go to a BBQ joint, i always order the slow cooked brisket. This food truck is right next to Tioga Sequoia Brewery. This brisket plate came with 2 sides. I chose cheesy mac and potato salad. The wait wasn't too long and catching a nice evening breeze while playing giant Jenga. The brisket was melt in your mouth and so did the cheesy Mac. The potato salad was okay. I would def come back for a quick brisket fix.

Well seasoned meats and tasty sides as usual, while I think the meats were more tender than my last visit. I ordered the Three's A Crowd with ribs, pulled pork, and brisket as the meat choices and macaroni and cheese and potato salad as my sides. I think coming for lunch rather than diner made a difference, as the meats were definitely more tender. We also tried the honey butter rolls this time, which were delicious and highly recommended. Would definitely advise coming earlier in the day (it's also less busy) and taking advantage of the fresher meats. Hope this trick sticks around for many years to come!

We were craving barbecue and found this place on the way back from Shaver Lake. It was very good and smokey, living up to its name. They have an outdoor patio, with a few inside and a lot of TVs for sports viewing. We got the 3-rib plate and tri tip which both come with 2 sides, and the double or nothing plate with chicken thighs and brisket. We really enjoyed their sauce since it had a little spice to it. Standout were definitely the ribs and my second favorite was the brisket. We liked all the sides but the potato salad and Mac and cheese were my faves.

Quad plate. Pork ribs, Beef Sausage, Brisket and Tri Tip

I travel for work and BBQ is one food i love. So when i saw this place that wad very close to my hotel I was stoked, so i walked over. Walking up you can smell the BBQ which was a great start, the music was 80-90's R&B which added to the experience. Ordering was easy, i ordered the Quad plate, I got beef links, Brisket, TriTip and Pork Ribs the two sides, Greens and Mac and Cheese. The meat was a hit and miss. The beef links where dry and flavorless (huge disappointment) the brisket was moist and tender, the Tri Tip was dry and tough, the pork ribs were seasoned well, and tender. The greens were excellent, tender with lots of smokey flavor, the Mac and Cheese was bland, the Mac was way over cooked and the cheese sauce really didn't have much flavor. Loved the cheese crust on top. Maybe i got them on them on the wrong night. Im willing to give them another try in my next business trip to Fresno.

The Quad

Decided to try Smokin Woods BBQ today with my wife and our two kids, and overall it was a really good experience. We ordered the Quad, which was perfect for a family of four since it lets you try multiple meats. Meats: * Boneless Chicken Thighs - (10/10). Easily our favorite. Super juicy, well-marinated, and packed with flavor. * Beef Brisket - Tender and packed with flavor, cooked just right. * Pork Ribs - Delicious, smoky, and very satisfying. * Pulled Pork - We originally wanted to try the beef tri-tip, but it wasn't ready yet. The pulled pork wasn't our favorite, but that could just be personal preference. Sides & Drinks: * Mac & Cheese - Really good and comforting. * Potato Salad - Really good and well-balanced. Creamy without being heavy, nicely seasoned, and fresh-tasting. It complemented the meats perfectly and was one of the better sides we tried. * Sweet Bread - Didn't really stand out for us. * Blackberry Lemonade - Absolutely fire. Super refreshing and flavorful. They were out of coleslaw, which was a little disappointing, but not a deal breaker. We also liked the patio setup -- plenty of space, TVs, and games, making it very family-friendly and a great place to hang out. Overall, we'll definitely be going back, especially for the chicken and lemonade. Looking forward to trying the tri-tip next time.

Dog House Grill has the BEST tri-tip sandwiches ever! Trust me, I have tried others and nothing compares. Upon arrival, parking is always full. If you have some time to wait, it will start to clear slowly. Entrance always has a long line to order food. Another way to order is inside where you find a table by the bar area and be served by a waiter/waitress. The ambiance is sports related so you'll see big screen TVs everywhere with all kind of sports playing and sports decor on the walls. Seating can be a bit of a wait since it's always busy so you kinda have to stand around and wait for tables to clear out or you might even get lucky and find one right away. Ordering is easy, big screens for menus upon entering and cashiers waiting to take your order. Once you order your food, it's a bit of a wait until they call your number. Our order today was 2 tri tip sandwiches and a side of fries. Totaling out $40. - Tri-tip sandwiches are $17 each. Worth it every single time. 1000/10 - Side of fries is actually a pretty large order. Seasoned a bit and for the size and taste 8/10 All in all, a great place to eat. I crave this often and it's located near the Savemart Center/Fresno State area which you can't miss. You can even smell it from a close distance. But in all seriousness, go try it. You won't regret it.

After waiting to get in it took 40 minutes to get our food if not longer. We got a few things 1. Fried chicken - it was good, crispy and juicy 2. Ribs - we hated these they were drenched in sauce. I would prefer sauces on the side. It ruined them and they were on the tough side. 3. Rice and gravy - enjoyed this 4. Spaghetti - it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. Had a strange aftertaste 5. Spicy cabbage - it was not spicy it was sweet and gooey and it was not good 6. Cornbread - a bit burnt for our liking 7. Lemon pudding cake - this was decent but also overly sweet. By the time we left the staff warmed up to having people there. They also charged 2 dollars for water which I thought was not okay. Water should be free at any restaurant. We paid 6 dollars for koolaid as well which is very high but it was good. Our entire bill was 46 and I feel like for what we got it wasn't a good deal. The restrooms were disgusting. I am not sure if I would be back. I was really looking forward to this place but I'll stick with chef Paul's.

A good amount of spots to eat inside and outside. We ordered two 2-meat plates + cornbread. All in all, we had their brisket, burnt ends, tri-tip, and ribs + coleslaw, potato salad, Mac & cheese, and beans as sides. We've tried almost everything at earlier visits and burnt ends are still my fav. All meats are tasty with their special rub, as well as their OG bbq sauce on the burnt ends.
