Well, if you don't get something done correctly, you try, try again. Well, this particular barbecue joint keeps on going. I do appreciate the effort - however, I met the owner of this barbecue joint during the pandemic when they had a spot at the Boscov's in Colonial Park, right in the parking lot. And well, now they have a spot at the old Shakedown Barbeque, and I must say people used to go way out of their way to go to the Shakedown barbecue spot. Well, now I don't know if they go out of their way to go to this barbecue spot, and I could give you some reasons why they might not. The food is definitely good. However, the first time I went, I got charged extra than what the price was on the menu. The second time, it was the same thing! Why, you may ask? Well, it's simple: larger prices, smaller portions. I guess when you have a beautiful face like mine, you just gotta pay extra. However, the establishment when I first went there was very nasty. It smelled like urine and, of course, there was dirt everywhere--and I mean dirt, I mean like caked up on the ketchup bottles and the restaurant tables. I honestly did not even want to sit inside, so I didn't. I wanted to support because the owner is prior military, and of course, I do love our veterans that fight for us, but I can't really tell because of how filthy the establishment is. The dishonesty as well the filthiness inside! Portions are definitely a turn-off as well. I do not recommend this place at all whatsoever, even though the food might make up for it. Not based on food quality, but we showed up at 11 am on a Sunday morning. The place was freezing, I think they hadn't been turned in on yet. The gentleman then proceeded to tell us that he could only offer spare ribs and pulled pork and french fries. I don't eat ribs or pork and intended to get the chicken with slaw and corn, so clearly I was disappointed. Their menu is very limited as it is, so the fact that they weren't prepared with the minimal items on their menu was disappointing. I won't go back again. read more

From Connecticut and we were early for an event in HERSHEY, PA so we looked for a BBQ place to eat dinner. Follow google maps and thought we were lost, then we saw the smoker out front. Walk in the door and were greeted by the nicest gentleman! He told us what he had. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and cokes. When he brought the drinks the cans were warm so I asked for ice which he supplied happily. The pork was the best I ever had! So tasty and moist! And the owner came back and asked if it was OK and had a nice chat with us about his time in the Reserves! We will definitely be back! read more

The place was out in the boonies but the staff was very friendly and awesome. I got the ribs and to be honest, the food was not worth the $30 I spent. The baked beans were great, mac & cheese was good but the ribs were burnt on the outside and soft on the inside. My friend ordered a sausage and she was charged 3 times. Ace's place has been in business three weeks, and Monday was an off day devoted to cleaning and organizing after the opening rush. Enter two hungry travelers turning off Route 81 during a six hour drive, not noticing the Yelp "Closed Mondays" warning. We walked in the font door and smack into a cleaning crew, but, after thinking about our question about alternative lunch options, Ace offered to open with what he had: some chicken, ribs, beans and mac & cheese. We'll have to report on pit beef, brisket, pulled pork, collards, etc. some other day, but we can certify some serious smoked and sauced chicken and next level sides, augmented with sliced jalapenos and good, nicely concieved renditions of Memphis and Carolina sauces. So, as far as the real test, consider it "Aced." read more

GREAT barbecue! The owner greeted us as we came through the door. Hard to believe this place isn't packed 24x7. It's maybe a mile off 81 - so it'd be a shame if it's anywhere near time for lunch or dinner and you don't stop. We had a pulled chicken sandwich with mac and cheese, which- honestly- best mac and cheese I've had at a bbq place. We took our order to go and he was thoughtful enough to put my roll (toasted slightly) separate from the chicken so it wasn't a wet soggy mess when I tried to eat it. Chicken also delicious as the sauce should be bottled and sold on its own. We also got a dozen wings with the spicy bbq sauce- perfectly crisp as he does them to order. Lastly ( though we really didn't need more) we got a sausage sandwich (which has the Texas sausage taste-A+ on that!) and the hand cut fries (phenomenal!). The sausage had a Memphis style sauce. Seriously- the owner knows his way around a pit and the sauce range is spot on. When we are within 100 miles of this place- we will be returning- regardless of the time of day. The owner is so nice! Very welcoming and friendly. I stopped here with a friend back in August because I was craving bbq. I had the pulled pork platter, and my friend had the Memphis-inspired fried ribs platter. Both were really good. This place is definitely worth finding if you're in the Hershey area. The staff was very nice but the food was way too expensive and extremely disappointing. I got a brisket meal with 2 sides and a water and it cost $27! The sides are no more than a few fork fulls and the "brisket" tasted like thinly sliced, overcooked steak. It wasn't even similar to brisket! I was really looking forward to trying this BBQ and it did not disappoint. Between my husband and me, we tried the ribs, beer-battered BBQ shrimp (on special), sausage, mac 'n cheese, potato salad, and corn on the cob. The ribs and shrimp were so flavorful, I didn't use any BBQ sauce on them. The sausage and corn were good, the mac'n cheese was lightly smoked, and the potato salad had a nice taste to it even with the onions (I'm not normally a huge onion fan and I enjoyed it). All in all, I will definitely go there again and it's even on my way home from work, so I'm looking forward to grabbing some take-out on days I don't want to cook. not sure where to start, Ace came outside and greeted us and intro himself, brought us inside and showed us his food and had a good football conversation with us for 15 minutes while our food was prepared, service was great, super friendly people and easy to talk to, food was incredible some of the best pulled pork ive ever had, and the side of mac n cheese was delicious. place also had good vibe to it, had some football documentaries on tv and it was clean and everything. the place is well rounded, incredible service and ownership, good prices and food is amazing read more
