I love that he said we have to have patience with this process, instead of being too aggressive with the chemicals. He was also gentle with my trim, since I'm working on retaining length. I am giving Smoothed 5 stars based on their friendly and highly competent staff beautiful OPEN AIR salon, great customer service, and clear communications. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who would like to explore keratin treatments. I had been getting Brazilian Blowout brand treatments for 10++ years and had to stop due to health concerns. I decided to try alternative keratin treatments and so my review is focused on my experience with keratin compared to my many years of getting BB brand treatments. When I went in for my first treatment the staff at Smoothed recommended Keratherapy brand treatment for my hair type. Here are my pros/cons: Pros - -100% safe, I had no negative health reactions to the treatment (YAY!) -My hair is more manageable, easier to "tame" -My hair dries and straightens faster with heat tools -If I air dry I have less frizz -The service was fast! Even with the additional "soak in" period I was out of there in less than 2 hours. Now the cons - -My hair is not nearly as easy to manage as with BB brand treatments (Boo!) -After three washes (over 2 weeks) with recommended hair products my hair is reacting like it would 4 to 6 weeks into a BB brand treatment -My color treated hair changed colors from the treatment - I am two shades lighter and a lot more red than I was before my keratin treatment. (Weird!) -I would trade all these less desirable effects for a SAFER treatment but the hard part is the cost. The less effective, albeit safer, treatment costs almost 30% more. I know there are other brand products that Smoothed offers and I will be back to try out some others. :) read more
