This was the first time that I went to Salon on 30th. I have to say that the receptionist staff are terrific! Every person on the phone that I spoke to was caring and very good at their job! My first impression of this salon was that I was definitely going to feel welcome and I certainly did! My hair appointment was with Brittani. When I met Brittani she was nice and warm and asked me a few questions about how I felt about the style that I had and how I styled my hair. Based on my answers, she came up with this new style that I absolutely love! Brittani is amazingly talented and with some tweaking of my old style, my new style is much more modern and feels more like me! I couldn't be happier with my new haircut! I plan on being a long term client of hers and before leaving, I made my next appointment! This is a great salon with exceptional customer service and talented stylists. First time with Kristina. She was highly recommended by my daughter. I loved the time she spent asking what I was look for and her suggestions aligned with my vision. She washed, cut and styled my hair. Kristina was very professional, personable and friendly. It was like I was talking to an old friend. I loved how my hair turned out. She gave me great ideas for hair color. I was so impressed that I already booked another appointment for myself (for hair color) and my mother who's a picky person but I'm confident Kristina will impress her as well. I found my new hair spot. I was in desperate need of a new hairdresser after my long-time stylist moved to Palm Springs. Unfortunately, a previous salon had left me with a burnt scalp and uneven layers, so I was feeling pretty nervous about trying someone new. Enter Katie--she was an absolute lifesaver. I explained my situation, and she took the time to really listen, patiently walking me through what I wanted for my hair. The results were amazing! This salon offers a model program where you can be a model for an up and coming stylist. My hair is very fine wavy/curly and at times even experienced stylists find it difficult to work with. Because of it's density and how thin it is. But JADALYN did such an amazing job. She was very thorough during our consultation. I have been to many high end places and have had experienced ppl cut my hair but they often fear cutting too short or they are in a hurry or fall short in the communication aspect. I got to the point where I honestly wouldn't mind if someone just went too short on accident so I gambled with a less experienced stylist and I am glad I did because she not only executed the inspo pics, she did better than anyone I have had in the past 4 years. The Instructor Sal was supportive but also not hovering. The entire experience was very pleasant. I know she still needs models to complete her program before she starts taking on clients. Too many salon politics going on. I have always had a wonderful over the top experience with my stylist Britany. She is the bomb, any highly recommend her for cut & style. I have had an ongoing appointment for every other Sunday with Britany, and no problems to my knowledge have ever been noted. Out of the blue, I received a vm that I have been essentially 86'd from the salon. All my future appointments cancelled. This only hurts Britany, as she will now be short 2 - 3 appointments per month. I believe this is a way to push out a great stylist. There was no back up to an explanation given. Thank you to Mya for cutting my hair!! This is actually the 2nd time I went out to get my hair. This first time someone butchered it and I just decided to do it at home. I have a trip coming up and was looking at salons in the area and found Salon on 30th. They were able to book me for the next day with another hairstylist. Unfortunately, I was running late because I don't know the area, but the salon and Mya were nice enough to accommodate for me. I showed Mya a picture and she asked me questions so we could figure out exactly what I wanted. She was very gentle and caring. Mya would check in after some cuts to see if I was satisfied with the length and even gave me advice on how to style it. I came to see Christina after a previous stylist had messed up my hair with bleach wash, and just wanted to go back to being dark. She was amazing. She not only listened to my sob story with grace (haha thank you), but was able to help me decide on a color/shade that would be both what I wanted and also flattering with my skin tone, easy for maintenance, etc. She did a beautiful job, and I've honestly never been happier with my color. She also went to great lengths to help prevent my skin from getting dyed in the process, which I always appreciate. She was so sweet and understanding and really tired to understand what I wanted and ended up showing me what I thought I wanted wasn't what I really wanted!! I started to write a nice long review of the bonkers experience I recently had with this salon, but it's easier to tell you that it ended when the manager said to me, "We are a salon by stylists for stylists!" Which makes you know that he is unreasonably self-important and that he favors staff over clients. Their policies and their attitudes are bordering on delusional as evidenced by the other 1 star reviews. And their prices? Hello, this is Southpark, not LA. So, I wound up going down the road aways to a more highly rated salon where the manager smiled at me, did a consultation right then, scheduled me for the next available appointment, told me I had great hair, and said they were looking forward to seeing me. I don't know where to start, but my first experience at Salon on 30th was more than amazing. I've only gone to Japanese stylists my entire life, usually drove 2 hours to LA to do so. I don't know if this is Asian thing where most Asians go to Asian hair stylist for various reasons....(later, Marisol completely changed my opinions on that) However, since I've been here in SD for 3years, I thought it would be the time to look for a salon close to me. My husband recommended this place, and I found Marisol!!!! She is like a person who knows what you are talking about, what you want and what she is doing!!!!! Very very detail oriented!!! Easily she became the best stylist I've ever met, my new hair style turned out so great, it's so much better than what I wanted:) she is very good at both layering and balayage. I even got my bangs which I'm obsessed with. I've never been so happy with my new hair style. It seemed a little bit hard to make an appointment with her, I made mine almost a month in advance (of course she is busy cause she is damn good!) This was my first time at the salon and getting a haircut with Madi. I was very nervous as it was my first haircut by a stranger - my mom is a hairstylist and has done my hair since i was born. If anyone else did my hair, it was someone else in her salon and someone i knew. So coming to Madi was a huge shift for me. I let her know before she started in case i got emotional during my haircut and she was very sweet and understanding. I told her that i desperately needed a trim because my ends were so dead. I also let her know i have an anxiety tick of picking at my hair so the breakage in one spot of my head was worse than others. She took what i was saying and offered her suggestion. She walked through length, how much she recommends to cut off and styling. I agreed with all that she suggested and we began the cut. She cut my hair dry and then we went to wash and condition my hair. I got a strengthening treatment that she recommended. She also did a nice little massage during the wash. It was very relaxing. After, she blow dried and styled my hair. After she was done, i felt so refreshed and my hair felt so much smoother and healthier. Overall, a great experience. I'm so glad i got the appointment with Madi. She is so understanding and patient and did an amazing job. I am so happy with my cut! I called Salon on 30th to book an appointment, was offered a mini-consultation over the phone. They scheduled me with Marisol based on my needs, and she was wonderful! Upon arriving, the entire staff was super friendly and welcoming, and made me feel super comfortable. Marisol took the time to make sure that my hair was perfect, since a long bob is not forgiving when it comes to mistakes. I've gone back twice and have been happy every time. So after my review the owner contacted me and he was very professional understanding and apologetic. That alone deserves five stars. For some reason a lot of businesses don't take constructive criticism and unhappy customer reviews seriously but I'm very happy to say this business did. I have no problem talking to the owners of the business about what my concerns are and I do appreciate when they reach out to me in a professional manner. The owner offered me a free redo and some products which is kind of funny because I mentioned they were pushing products.. anyway I don't like any of the products after trying the davines line. I believe that's what was drying up my hair. The reason I say that is because my hair was dry and brittle wasn't sure if it was from the toner they put on to correct the hot roots or what but the last time I shampooed I used my original product line (enjoy) and my hair was like a thousand times better. Anyway they paired me with a really great stylist for a redo who I saw on Tuesday who listen to me was engaging not overwhelming and perfect for me and my style. I believe she really knew her stuff and my hair looks great afterwards I'm very happy now! I appreciate everyone for making everything right! All I can say is Bettina is the best stylist/artist around. I recently saw her and she gave me a perm and a cut. Yes, I said PERM!! She gave me a Curl Cult Perm, which is not damaging to your hair. I absolutely love my hair. The cut is pretty amazing too. I have received so many complements. Bettina is a beautiful person inside and out and always listens to her clients and lets them know exactly what she is doing. I've been coming here on and off over the years. Sometimes when I get a stylist I like, I'll follow them to other salons, but honestly, I think I'm just going to stick with Salon on 30th from now on no matter what. I love the location. South Park is one of my favorite neighborhoods and this place is right in the mix of things, right across from the coolest store. I have to say they have they've got their communication down pat. Both online - they go into detail with regards to their Covid precautions - and in person. When I called to confirm my appointment, I updated my contact info and they went over Covid protocol on the phone. Quick, easy, painless. The person was friendly and covered everything without making the process seem drawn out. When you arrive, they ask that you give them a call. They'll meet you at the door for a temperature check and spritz of hand sanitizer. They've spaced out their chairs and the space feels airy as it is, which is nice. I got a mini scalp massage with my shampoo, and it felt great to get the weight of my overgrown hair lifted. I say overgrown because it really started to become somewhat of a mess due to many at-home attempts at trimming my own hair. My stylist walked me to the front desk and walked through some of the products she used. I think this place does a good job of letting you know which products would be good for your hair without making you feel pressured at all. They said they'd put the recs on my file if I ever decided to get them. It truly felt informative rather than salesy. Everyone is friendly, informative, and ready to deliver a great service. When making the appointment, the staff was very detailed in their questions of what I wanted and referred me over to Brittani. When arriving, the staff was super friendly when checking me in. Brittani was amazing. We talked about what I wanted in detail and she made suggestions regarding modifications. After the cut, we decided to cut more and I couldn't be happier. Not many salons are open on a Sunday but I am so thankful SO30 was! My family moved to the SD area back in September and it's been months since I have been able to have a little TLC time for my hair. After attempting a little trim on my own, I quickly realized that a visit to a professional was necessary. See, I am going from a short pixie style haircut to growing it out so in the back it's often uneven as the layers grow. Little trims here and there are good, but eventually I knew I would need to book an appointment. After going to my go-to resource for finding everything, I took to Yelp to find a local salon and stylist that I could potentially call my own. Salon on 30th immediately popped up with rave reviews and photos to match AND they were open! I was so glad to have been able to snag an appointment that was just a couple of hours from when I called - which can often be unheard of. I arrived with about 5-10 minutes to spare until my appointment time, so the front desk took the time to give me a mini tour so that I knew where the restrooms were. So sweet of him - and being offered a beverage (wine, please!) was a great welcoming touch. The salon itself is very clean with a trendy aesthetic (i.e. exposed brick and wood beams) and a place you could find yourself easily hanging out. I saw Amparo tonight and she was delightful to work with. I have to say that all of the staff at SO30 was warm, welcoming, and very friendly. I showed Amparo a reference photo to give her an idea of what I was looking to achieve and she walked me through what would be realistic and most achievable with my hair. She has a delicate touch and I absolutely loved my hair walking out today! She gave new life to my hairstyle and proves that even little and simplistic changes here and there make such a difference. Overall my first-time experience was amazing! I really appreciated that when booking my appointment I mentioned I found them on Yelp and that gave me $20 off my first haircut - and while I was checking out they mentioned they military also receives a discount. I had big curly hair that went just past my shoulders, which I loved. I showed Sal pictures of how I wanted only the back of my hair shorter. So that I could have one of those angled cuts. I also told him not to cut the front at all. And I physically sectioned off all the hair on the sides of my head and said don't touch this part at all but that is not what he did, the hair on the back of my head is less than an inch long higher than my ears. He actually cut off all of my hair except for my sideburns which he left 5" longer than everything else. I can't stop crying. I'm not kidding. I.Can't.stop.crying. I'm not even sure if I can go to work. Because he cut it so short and high up my head it will be years before this grows out. It will be 10 months just to grow my hair back down to my hairline. So I'll be wearing a scarf or hat until next August. I just spent 3 years growing my hair back. I feel so humiliated and defeated right now. I just don't understand why he cut off all my curls? Sal cut my hair so short that he cut off all my curls. There's nothing left to work with. I actually had balayage highlights which we talked about and I told him I just got them a few months ago, he cut all of those off too. I do not understand why he did this, all I talked about was how hard it is for me to grow my hair out and how I wanted to be able to put it up after my haircut. Did he forget what cut I asked for? Did he decide that I was better off without the 5"+ of hair he cut off? He has curly hair too, didn't he know that he was cutting all my curls off? I guess people make mistakes or have bad days I just don't understand why he cut all my hair off after we talked so much about not doing that. Everyone was nice. The salon was pretty and they didn't charge me for the cut, which would have been $90 they have that choice but I cant pay to get my hair back. I'll put up the picture I showed the stylist of what I wanted and what I actually got but I don't think I can take actually pictures of my hair without an ugly cry episode so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that. read more
