Checked out smorgasburg at row DTLA on Sunday. It was not too crowded, possibly because it was 90 degrees out and burning hot. That was a good selection of food stores selling a variety of food from tacos and barbecue to Asian fried wings and noodles. There's also a Michelada tent with shade and a cool DJ spinning awesome tunes to vibe out with while enjoying the cool shade. It seems like the food stalls still rotate on a fairly regular basis so it's definitely worth a visit when they change out the vendors. We ended up getting some barbecue, wings, fried chicken skewer and drinks to share. Since it was a hot day, we also really appreciated ice cream alley although it was a competition to see if we could finish our ice cream before they melt under the sweltering sun. You literally cannot go wrong here! I've tried most of the vendors for the past few years and it's always a fun treat! (as a non picky eater). I love Sus Arepas who just opened their brick and mortar finally. Also always grabbing a Golden Skewer for that delicious sauce!! I will always recommend coming right at opening for the most seamless experience with parking as well as ordering food and finding a bench to eat at. Being rarely available on Sundays, we finally decided to take a family trip to Smorgasbord at Row DTLA. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We really enjoyed the repurposed industrial area, which reminded us of the 798 Arts District in Beijing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was our first time in the area, and the online entrance information was incorrect as the gate was blocked. We got a little lost initially but eventually found our way. I read online that the vendor lineup was reportedly weaker, which unfortunately seemed to be the case. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a pretty hot day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A Reddit user suggested eating breakfast beforehand to save money, but we ended up going out for KBBQ. We were immediately sluggish afterward, so we went to a coffee shop for a caffeine pick-me-up. We tried: - Strawberry Animal Cookie at Sad Girl Creamery - Mango Michelada from I Love Micheladas - OG Cheese from Urbn Pizza The ice cream wasn't bad, but it wasn't my favorite. Our son loved it, though. The Mango Michelada was pretty good, with nice mango chunks, but nothing truly memorable. Our son insisted on cheese pizza, which was solid. I think we'll wait for a vendor refresh, as there wasn't much that stood out to us this time. On the plus side, we didn't overspend, but we didn't try as much food as we'd hoped. It had been a few years since my last visit to Smorgasburg, and this trip reminded me that I really need to come back more often. Located at The Row in Downtown LA, it takes place every Sunday, and the first two hours of parking are free, which is a rare find in LA. We ended up sharing musubi, chicken wings, and Japanese skewers. I've been to the LA smorgasbord time and time again since 2018 and even though they've changed a few vendors here and there throughout the years, I've never left feeling disappointed! One consistent vendor that's always been there is Sus Arepas located right at the entrance. I always order the Reina, which is their chicken salad arepa. Their sauce is truly addicting and I always find myself feeling regret that I didn't order two of them. They open at 10 AM and offer free parking in their structure. I highly recommend getting there before 12 PM because that is when things get really packed and you'll find yourself waiting in line and not being able to find a table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Last time I went I got there at 10:30 and the timing was perfect. By 1130 they were pretty much no tables left. We were lucky to find one table at the very very far corner at the very last minute. Otherwise expect to stand and there's no shade in sight.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sometimes he might find some of the vendors giving out samples. For example, the last time I went, there was a karaage style fried chicken place, which had super flavorful and moist chicken giving away samples. My first time at @smorgasburgla and I was not ready for how BIG it would be! Throwing it back to my first visit where I quickly realized I'm definitely a beverage girlie. There were so many vendors, so much good food, and way too little time to try it all. Here are some standouts I tried: Matcha Kava I had no idea what Kava was until this stop! It's a plant based drink meant to promote relaxation (and tingles your tongue ). I tried two servings. Tingly, yes. Calm? Not quite yet. I'm totally down to try three next time and see how chill I can really get Spam & Tamago Musubi These were massive and totally delicious! Not your traditional musubi shape, but packed with flavor. First timer here. My family and I absolutely enjoyed it. Tried different foods today, all which were so delicious. We started with our micheladas. I had the pickle shandy which was so delicious, it was lemonade, beer & pickle juice with crunchy pickle as garnish. 10/10. I also had a mango michelada which u also enjoyed. My daughter wanted dumplings and we went to the zindrew dumpling booth, we love the we've had them before at other markets. Pork and shrimp ones are our favorite. We also had a bbq chicken plate & dirty Mac. I really enjoyed all the food with fried today. Pulled pork was delicious, bbq sauce was too. Surprisingly stumbled upon Smorgasburg since we were here at Row DTLA for an Innisfree pop up. There's a paid parking structure nearby and it's not much of a walk at all. Entry is free so that's pretty good! Everything is close by to one another. We came here a couple hours or so before Smorgasburg closed so we had to speed run some of the food and vendors, but a lot of them have paired up with food delivery apps for food pick up so you can always order ahead of time, and then just pick up the food at the vendor stall, find a table to sit at, and enjoy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It did take some time to wrangle a table, but we were lucky, since again, it was towards the end of the day for them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Smorgasburg rotates vendors, has special guests, hold special events, themed events, and much more, so if you want to keep track of that, definitely follow their socials. Not only do they have food vendors but they have other lifestyle goods vendors such as apparel, jewelry, candles, vintage items, and much more. These also rotate too. Honestly, I find this more worth going than the huge food festivals like 626/OC Night Market, etc. Worth stopping by at least once. read more

I think this was the fourth or fifth year I've visited Smorgasburg. It was fun as always, but there seemed to be significantly fewer vendors this time. I noticed Jolly Oyster from Ventura is no longer on the scene. It's been there every other time I've been to Smorgasburg, so I was surprised they weren't there this visit. I noticed there's a new oyster vendor in town, Broad Street Oyster Company. Super Frites, the vendor that sold Euro style french fries was also missing. That was a huge disappointment, because I was planning on getting some of those fantastic frites. There were two vendors selling Beef Tallow Fries, so we picked one of them and gave them a try. They were seasoned fries, and they were really good, but nowhere near the quality of Super Frites. And the seasoning, as delicious as it was, was so strong there was no way you would know if the fries were cooked in Beef Tallow or Canola Oil. The main reason I travel down to Smorgasburg every summer is to hit up Lobsterdamus. Their signature dish is a Charcoal grilled lobster on a bed of garlic noodles, they call it a Lobster Nest. Enjoying a Lobster Nest with a fresh squeezed ice cold lemonade is always an absolute highlight of the summer for me. And this year was no different. It's always been much more crowded when I've visited Smorgasburg in the past. This visit seemed like at least 25% fewer people. There weren't very many vendors with more than a few people in line. Over at what's advertised as the "family friendly beer tent" there were plenty of places to sit. Usually you have to hunt for a table, or just a place to sit in the shade. But not this visit. It was great not to have to search for a place to sit while carrying your food and drink. I'm guessing what makes the beer tent "family friendly" is that they have Corn Hole Boards and Bags set up for people to use. They were getting a lot of play. It was quite entertaining, actually. Smorgasburg is an open air food market that is open on Sundays at the Row in DTLA. Since they've been open, this place has acted as a de facto gateway to some of possibly your favorite and some of the best restaurants and bites Los Angeles has to offer. The first time I went to Smorgasburg was years ago (in Dec 2016), so some of the spots/ vendors in my pics might not be there any more. But I was hooked ever since. Anytime you visit, it could be a different experience with different offerings and a beer garden . My latest visit, I came in specifically for a quick bite - the Jordanian shawarma wrap from Miya Miya before heading over to catch a play at the Pantages (yes...the drive out of the way was worth it). The people I've encountered here are have been wonderful each time. I just love seeing people doing their hustle and actively pursue their passions. Also, I feel for them...my last visit was on a very hot day. The spot where Smorgasburg is located is like one giant concrete block. I can tell you right now, I probably wouldn't last out there. Today was the final Smorg of 2025 and the 2nd Annual Caribbean Christmas. The DJ was spinning new and older hits that had a lot of people dancing in lines or as they walked around. I specifically attended to try Bridgetown Roti and ordered Mom's curry chicken roti and callaloo patty. I enjoyed the punchy curry spices, tender roti, and crunch turmeric slaw. The patty was flaky and moist -- gone before I could even take notes. I finally tried the sugarcane juice from Sweetgrass - calamansi was the perfect complement. There are many choices for food. I was here for the food choices. Today was "A Very Caribbean Christmas" Sunday. I didn't try anything Caribbean but purchased Maya Salsa from El Maya Gourmet. I had to buy it because it was spicy and had lots of flavour, which is rare in supermarket Salsas. I got a Pull Pork Nacho (photo) from Black Sugar Rib, another pleasant treat that differs from what I get from a restaurant. All services are average after you get in a long or short line. Smorgusburg is a lot of fun! They have a parking structure on site, but it does fill up quickly. Parking costs money if you're there longer than three hours. I can't remember the exact amount, but I believe it was around $10 for 3 hours and $15 for 4+ hours. There is a huge variety of food vendors here, so you're sure to find something you like. Compared to other food markets, like the 626 night market, I found the portions and the prices here more reasonable. Personally, I like food markets for trying a little bit of a lot of things and usually find the portions are way too big. The day we went, there was also a live dj, free photo booth, and a michelada tent. It's a very fun atmosphere, and kid friendly if your kids are okay with crowds. This review is for Bernie's Shaved Ice specifically -- a new vendor that just opened during the end of 2024. They serve granita ice, which is a shaved ice / frozen dessert. It was a hot day, so their fruit flavors were really refreshing! They freeze fresh juices/purees and then shave it. Then, they add a marshmallow meringue to the top and toast it for a fun topping to go with the icy treat underneath! Price can be a bit steep if you're buying a lot for a large group, but I understand the cost comes from the fresh ingredients they use. Service was fast and friendly, and the shaved ice came out quick. Great summer treat! I can't say I'm the biggest fan of "The ROW DTLA," a high end shop/work/live area just east of LA's skid row, but the highlight here has got to be Sunday's Smorgasburg. 100 food trucks and stalls, plenty of seating, a designated ice cream/dessert zone, two hours free parking ... wow. It's a much more manageable '626 Night Market,' only during the day, with shorter lines, and free. Super friendly and easygoing foodie crowd, sampling everything from the LA food scene, including a whole pizza. I can never say no to that one. The definition of Smorgasbord is a "buffet offering a variety of hot and cold meats, salads, hors d'oeuvres, etc." and also "a wide range of something, a variety". Smorgasburg is located at The Row in DTLA, right off of Alameda. Smorgasburg only happens on Sundays. Parking is free for the first two hours in the parking structure. Admission is free as well. There are lots and lots of food vendors and the best part is the VARIETY. They are mostly small business owners, some with no store front who only do pop ups. A lot of them are regulars at Smorgasburg LA. There is something for everyone! I love supporting the various small business vendors that sell there. This venue is 100% outdoors. You place your order and wait for your food, then go grab a table. There tables in shade, under umbrellas, or you can step out of Smorgasburg and go hang out along The Row, there are plenty of seating areas. There's a DJ playing music, there is a center aisle selling goods of different kinds, there are plenty of vendors selling desserts and drinks. There really is something for everyone. The only downside to this and I won't even take a star away from this review, is the fact that it is on an asphalt and concrete loading dock area so it is HOT on warm days. There is a fantastic selection of different cuisines--from tacos to BBQ. I highly recommend visiting on a themed day. My favorite was in celebration of Filipino American History Month in collaboration with FILLED Market! The selection of vendors was curated to highlight Filipino food and goods. Go early, as the weather will be better and you will easily avoid the long lines. Go with a group, too, so you can have little tastings from different vendors. What a way to kick off a Sunday! I admit, I came to L.A. a bit overwhelmed by where to go and what to eat. Coming to Smorgasburg let me have a little bit of a lot and and a unique experience all the way around. There seems to be a bit for everyone, from tacos to burgers to noodles to hot dogs to rice to drinks to desserts to so much more. Plus it boasts food from different parts of the world, a beer garden, shopping and Ice Cream Alley. After doing a lap to get the lay of it all, I went with a Korean hot dog, my first ever. I would definitely get this again. It had all the fried, indulgent goodness that you want from a food vendor. I also indulged in a beer, ube brioche bun, Hawaiian shaved ice and Thai tea ice cream. I visited with my local team from work, and they were all able to get what suited their fancy as well. Smorgasburg has free, close parking (such a plus!) and ample photo opportunities and backdrops. What a fun and lively experience this was, I've had this bookmarked for a while but never had a chance to come while I was in SoCal till this past weekend. The gf and I were so excited to see the wide variety of delicious offerings, after a long discussion on what to choose since we had to save our stomachs for our anniversary dinner later on so we decided on the brisket from saulitos which was so freaking delicious. That may have been the best bbq I've ever had. We also had the cheesy kimchi rice hot pocket which we thought was pretty original and clever. The special from moom maam; gelato and coconut sticky rice in a waffle cup. Out of this world delicious. We then paid a visit to Lei'd cookies, the owner was so sweet, she even gave us a free cookie ! We got the cannoli, guava cheese, mango sticky rice, and the strawberry-passion fruit which all were awesome. Not to go out of order but we did start and end with coffee, our favorite beverage. Had a total of 3 coffees with oat milk and a ube latte, all from whole & oat coffee and we still talk about how good it was. All the vendors were so friendly. We agreed that Smorgasburg is now a must destination whenever we are in SoCal. read more

Smorgasburg is an event we are so lucky to have in LA! And every freaking week!? Goodness! That being said, let's have y'all know what you're getting into before you go. There are nearly 100 vendors every week and this ain't a flea market. High quality local vendors selling food, drinks, and their goods. It's F*R*E*E* to enter! You never see those words in LA so had to emphasize that because it's exciting. But once you're inside, browsing may be free, but it'll cost you a pretty penny to wine, dine & shop to your heart's desire. My mortgage-less millenial wallet hurts when I'm here. It's not cheap but everything is so rad, no points knocked at all for the prices these awesome local shops charge. Edible Highlights: Be Right Coffee will hype you up to get going. Glad has the most delicious cheesy focaccia di recco. Smashburgers from Softies. Vegan cold desserts from Happy Ice. Energy boosts without the beans from Kavahana. Mama Masubi serving spam goodness. Mao's colorful baos. Adorable vegan donuts from Donut Friend. Fried Chicken sandwich from Chimmelier. Mumu has a brick & mortar shop, but you should def try their taiyakis if you haven't. Beer Garden if you want to get your drink on with pretty good craft options. There's so many more delicious spots, but those are just a few I love. I still haven't even tried everything there. With so many vendors, it's hard!!! There's usually almost enough seating at peak times but almost enough isn't quite enough lol. This past week we had to go out of the main area into the courtyard to sit down and enjoy our eats. Bonus for Tesla owners, super charging in the parking lot! They charge fast though so only do this option if you'll be in and out, otherwise those idling charges will start acruing.
