It's pretty apparent that the new trend in Los Angeles are these smashed burger pop-ups, and I'm definitely not complaining. This particular pop-up located at an auto body shop in Pasadena, is cranking out $7 wagyu smashed burgers. It's relatively new, which means no crazy hyped lines-just yet. There's a good amount of parking as they start smashing, or rather "smoshing" at 7pm. Early arrival is suggested as they stop when they sell out. As far as flavor, think simple McDonald's cheeseburger on steroids. The wagyu is pretty choice and the crunch from the burnt edges sets it over the top. It was a good burger but I don't think it was worth $7. The texture was amazing, crispy, but not burnt. Probably one of the best patties i have ever eaten. Very simple. No lettuce or tomatoes. Just the patty, cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard. It was amazing but $7... I would need about 4-5 to be full, but I am a fatty and I love food. If it was $5 I would give it 5 stars, would have bought 3 and would come here 4/5 days a week for dinner. Only downside is it is outdoors and recently it is around 40 degrees at night. 40 is like -10 in la. TLDR; Too pricey and too cold out for my blood. I live down the street and saw this pop up as I drove by a few times. So, I decided to walk over on a Friday night. There were a lot of people eating and waiting around but no wait to order. I was told they were busy and it would take about 45 mins to get my food. Can't say I was excited about that, but I was all in. Ordered one of each of their burgers, which means, one with raw onions and one with grilled onions. $7 each. The burgers were definitely good, I prefer lettuce and tomato on my burger but the simplicity is what makes this place what it is. I'm glad I ordered two because they went down fast. Will I be back? Waited a month to write a review for Smosh Town because why would anyone write a review about a burgee place? Burgers tastes the same, right? Wrooong. These burgers are everything a burger should be. Still super hot off the grill when walked to a few yards to seating. Meat was juicy and tender. These patties were the perfect smashed size for eating: looking thin but thick with flavor. Staff was friendly and worked hard to complete thier constant orders. It did take about a half an hour for my order to be ready but I cant blame them because they looked really busy.
