I really enjoy this place a lot. The burgers are smashed to perfection so that you get the crispy edges. The sourdough for the patty melt is buttery and crispy as well, and the cheese is melty with smothered fried onions atop it all. It's a wonderful sandwich--I asked for mild spread, btw, but it's good, too. Also, the patty melt comes as double but get a third patty added. I think the patties are 1.75 or 2 oz so it's worth getting the extra meat. The service is relatively friendly. The ambiance is outdoor seating, so there is a lot of street noise. I'm not sure if they have a bathroom. And parking is on the street. Prices are kinda up there for a burger, but to me it's worth it. Keep in mind that smash burgers aren't typically juicy due to the smashing. But the sauce, onions, pickles, and other condiments are where you'll get "juicy" from. You get the smash for the crispy edges and onions smashed into the burger. But I'm not sure the onions are smashed in here, tbh. Give it a try. I believe you'll dig it. read more

I really wanted the OG Smash Burger to live up to the standard of Original Tommy's, but unfortunately, it doesn't quite compare. While the chili is tasty and the service is excellent--the cashier was genuinely dedicated to guest satisfaction, and the food comes out hot and made-to-order in 5-10 minutes--it lacks the signature experience of the real OG Original Tommy's. Not huge at all and for the price, therefore not a good value. I spent $24 for the Chilicheese bruger combo with $1 upcharge for a bottled drink. The burger itself was decent, but they are way too tight with the chili portions compared to Tommy's, and the shoestring fries don't hold the chili nearly as well as the thicker-cut fries. I also found the specific combination of pickles, onions, and mustard on a Tommy's burger to be superior. The setting is purely a walk-up window with four outdoor benches, so it lacks the atmosphere of a traditional dine-in experience. Street parking during around 2pm on weekday was no problem. Got a spot right in front of the joint. If you do stop by, definitely give the chili a moment to cool--it comes out steaming hot! The bun is soft and melts into the patty as easily as the cheese. Balance of flavors is achieved with the acidity of the pickles against the OG sauce, cheese and patty. Off the beaten path, or at least MY beaten path, I haven't been on this piece of real estate in at LEAST 25 years! They've really created a nice little space with about 4 sidewalk picnic tables for dine in (no indoor seating, and only a walk-up window for order and pick-up). On this 94 degree Burbank day, I opted for a pick-up, but I would eat on site on a more forgiving day. Online ordering was super easy and my food was ready as promised. The woman behind the window was quite lovely and made sure I had everything I needed before I took off. Once again, this burger absolutely hits. I've tried a lot of smash burgers, and in my opinion this is hands down the best smash burger in California. I don't care what all the critics say--the burger speaks for itself. The patty is perfectly juicy while still having that crispy, flavorful crust that every great smash burger should have. The chili is the perfect finishing touch, adding just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the burger. My biggest complaint? I have to drive way too far to get one. That's how good it is. This burger shop is so adorable, in eye catching red and yellow (ketchup and mustard) colors. It really stands out on the street. When I passed by last time I remembered having read very positive reviews on their food in the past. I had errands to do but decided to grab something to enjoy for dinner later on. The patty melt jumped out at me since I generally love that sandwich. I prefer regular bread to hamburger buns as well. This time that was all I ordered since the fries would get cold by the time I ate them. The patty melt is a very ample size. Service was very friendly and efficient. I love that their story is on the inside of the box. So I said I was going to eat it in a couple of hours for dinner. But when I popped open the box to take a look, it smelled so good that I had to pull over and eat half of the melt on the spot. So glad I did because that fresh perfectly hot bite was remarkable. It is a perfect patty melt and the best I've had in town. The meat is expertly prepared, bread was not soggy and the toppings were just right. Interesting, quaint little burger spot straddling the border of Burbank and Glendale. Love the decor: bright red and yellow branding everywhere. There's no indoor seating; just a storefront and a few tables with shade out front. Parking is street. Menu is very simple. Just the smash burger, a patty melt and a PB&J for the kids and the vegans. I got the combo with the double patty. Came with a soda and a side of fries. So, as for the burger, theirs is pretty damn good. It's a bit on the smaller side, but it's a quality burger for sure. Patties were nicely crisped, flavorful and juicy. The onions were nicely caramelized and crisped. I think the best part of the burger is their OG sauce. It's not too tarty like most Thosand Island-type burger sauces, but well-balanced. Goes well with their fries, too. Speaking of the fries, they give you generous portions of the shoestring type. These were well-seasoned and crisped nicely. A good complement to a really good smash burger. I'd put OG Smash Burger in the upper tier of the smash burger spots I've been to. Located on Victory Blvd on the outskirts of Glendale, the shop is small and unassuming, other than their large sign and clean order window. There is some street parking along Victory and a few tables for outdoor seating, but when it's busy, expect to eat in your car or on the bed of your truck. The place can get pretty busy with just a normal flow of customers just due to the size, expect to wait at least 10-15 minutes even when it doesn't look too busy. If you're in a rush, it might not be the place for you but if you have some time to spare, it's worth it. OG is overall a delicious smash burger. It's a classic smash, just onions, pickles, and sauce. Their burgers are smashed correctly, achieving a great crispy edge while having a great and balanced flavor that's not too salty. I believe a smash needs to have two patties to have the right ratio, and the same is true here. The single is a decently generous patty for what it is, but it's still lacking the right ratio. The fries are a very nice accompaniment, well seasoned and crunchy, nothing to write home about, but a nice accompaniment to the burger. A combo probably comes out $3-5 dollars more than comparable places. If you're in the area, though, I'd definitely give it a try; there aren't many places in all of LA that are on the level. read more
