My wife and I went here twice for the Tuesday Special, A Two-foot dog, Fries and Soda…read more On our visits we were greeted by happy employees. They made us feel welcome and were very helpful to us newbies. Our orders were taken and we were explained the process. Most of the condiments are self-serve. Both times I had the chili, yellow mustard and onions. My wife had Cole Slaw on her first one and Sauerkraut and mustard the second week. We made quite the mess but enjoyed the food. The hot dogs are very tasty and cooked just the way I we like them, a little char but not burnt. We had to cut the dogs into quarters and the rolls held up fine. The chili, while it tastes good is a little bland and my wife would have liked a little more flavor in the Sauerkraut too. The order of fries is large, hot and crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The store is a nostalgic walk into the past with retro fixtures, tables and decorations. It's fun to read the 45's that line the walls while enjoying these dogs. The dogs are a novelty and are good enough to come back for. They have an extensive menu and I'm tempted to try the other offerings but the Two-Foot dogs always call me back.

It's not icy in the least and the strawberry sundae with the lil bursting needs and the gelatin things is it's to-die for!! Texture can add something love to the experience & this sundae is the perfect example!! The strawberry flavor also wasn't overpowering or artificial tasting! It was truly lovely. The hotdog was also tasty. It was bigger than I was expecting and the crust has a yeast flavor in a good way. enjoyed the crunch and then when I was on my way out, they gave me a free Italian marshmallow treat. They gave me the option to get the ice cream first or after.. I elected to eat it first and the rest of my order took about 5 mins.

The location is very easy to get to and a decent parking lot in the back. The people are super friendly and gave good recommendations. There is a seating area that is good for groups to relax and eat their treats. Other menu items included Korean corn dogs and ice cream. Mango Bingsu $10 {4/5}: I got the small mango Bingsu (I really wanted the matcha but had my caffeine limit today), it could have easily been enough for 2 people in my opinion (unless you really like your desserts). The shaved ice was made with milk to give it that creaminess. The ice was topped with fresh cut mango, mango popping boba, condensed milk, mochi, and vanilla ice cream. They also sign your receipt to bring back next time to spin the freebies wheel! Will definitely come back with friends to try other desserts

Maggie's Hot Dog Truck had come up as a good hot dog spot in my area Yelp Searches. The history of…read morethe truck is addressed in pics and in other reviews. Bottom line. It's an old truck, that has been refurbished, has a cool history and has been in business as a red hot dog truck for over 50 years. Maggie's has hot dogs, kielbasa and chili. They also have drinks, chips and cookies. Maggie's uses Mucke's natural casing dogs, which is definitely not something that most CT places use. Maggie's does not have any specialty hot dogs per se, but they do have their own chili and some other standard toppings to choose from. I ordered a hot dog with chili and mustard. I haven't had a Mucke's in a while. It seemed like it was probably steamed. Good flavor. Good snap. The chili sauce was meaty and tasty. Definitely above average for CT. The mustard was good too. I would definitely recommend Maggie's if you're in the area and want a hot dog or chili to go. 4.5 Stars

Maggie's Hot Dog Truck is a restored 1934 GMC Model T-18, and the history alone is worth a look. It…read morestarted out transporting workers to CCC camps in the 1930s, then the State of Connecticut used it to move prisoners to work details, then it became an ice cream and popcorn truck in Hartford before eventually ending up in a junkyard. Robert "Red" McCormick later rescued and restored it, and it's been serving hot dogs for more than fifty years now. At this point it's basically a local icon for those who know, and can be found over on East River Drive in East Hartford. The menu is simple--hot dogs, kielbasa, chili, drinks, chips, cookies--and that's exactly the right call for a place like this. I had two hot dogs and both were great. Quick service, good flavor, and they were wrapped well enough that I had zero concerns about anything spilling on the way back to the office. Overall, a fun, straightforward lunch stop with good food, and fun character and history. If you appreciate old-school spots that keep things simple, this one's worth a visit.

Since it is a hotdog stand I'll try to get right to the point. Pros: - Alex (a.k.a. the hot dog guy) is extremely friendly and always willing to customize your order no matter the amount of people behind you - He is one of the few hotdog vendors that I have observed wearing gloves (and changes them when they get dirty) which after observing some vendors touching trash and scratching themselves then proceeding to making food is a plus - He is dependable meaning no matter the weather he'll be located right outside of The Russian Lady - I once dropped my got dog right after I got it and he was kind enough to make me another one right away (free of charge) Cons: - Due to hot dog stand stand being located right outside of The Russian Lady you are guaranteed to have to deal with extremely drunk and loud people - Drunk people will try to skip the line or get really close to your food to see what you ordered

After a night of dancing, dripping mascara, and sore feet, you wander the streets of downtown Hartford looking for a quick bite to eat. You're tired of the mediocre pizza at Aladdin's and decide to grab a bite at a street meat stand. You go to the first cart outside of Blackbear and witness the hot dog man stuffing garbage into a trash can with his bare hands. Slightly disgusted, you crawl your way to the entrance of Russian Lady and witness the holy grail that is Hartford late night food. Alex the hot dog man stands in his newly bought hot dog truck wearing a set of plastic gloves, topping hot dogs with cheese, chili, and potato chips. He's always welcoming to everyone and especially so to his frequent customers who eat way too many hot dogs (me). Open 10PM-3AM Thursday through Saturday, you can always expect excellent service and delicious late night food after your night out.
