Jerk chicken was good, plantains 1/5, steamed veggies had 0 flavor and they clearly don't clean the vegetables before cooking. Makes me wonder about other things. But 5$ for a 16oz coconut water that's not fresh poured gtfoh. Then the lady asks what gravy I wanted, I said oxtail, she says it's a shortage so they not giving out oxtail gravy. The owner is there a lot, friendly, and always good for a quick chat. You can eat in - uncommon for Jamaican restaurants; and they do catering and inhouse events. There are about 10 tables to sit at. They also deliver and have free wi-fi. Their lunch specials are $4.99, through the week until 2pm. They serve breakfast (open every day except for Sunday) at 8am. I like that they have sauces on the side from you to chose from. My food was fresh and the rice was really good but they ox tails were basically nothing but bones and they gave soooo much rice but not enough meat. The food didn't taste as good as i expect it too but it wasn't bad. Also the owner charge me 3$ extra... He charge me more for the ox tails that was 3 dollars cheaper on the menu. The food here is great! Not as authentic but still fits the bill. I go here almost weekly to take advantage of the lunch special which is 5.99 for a choice of meat, rice, and salad. I usually get the jerked chicken or pork. Im picky about oxtails and the first time I tried them here, it wasn't as good as I've had at other places. But overall this place is really god llod for the price. The place itself is well managed, the staff is nice and friendly, and the place is kept clean. I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW UNPROFESSIONAL THE MANAGER AND STAFF WERE. I came in 7 mins before the lunch special and was told I was 7 mins early. I said ok (as in I would wait). After watching the staff stock up several dishes and complimenting on the dishes, I was asked what I was like. I told the staff what I would like and when I got to the register, I was given a different price. I repeated that I wanted the lunch special and was told it was 3 MINS before lunch time. I repeated that I wanted the lunch special and the staff took my dish, threw some the curry chicken BACK into the curry chicken heating dish and gave me the box for a lunch special price with and attitude. [Note: FOOD WAS PLACED BACK INTO THE HEATING DISH WHICH I BELIEVE IS A FOOD REGULATION VIOLATION!]. I purchased the meal and couldn't even eat it. I returned and spoke with the manager. He called the staff over and we literally went back and forth about service I received. i purchased a brown stew chicken lunch on a Tuesday afternoon.. although the rice and peas was spice less, it wasn't too bad, however, the chicken was extremely dry and old as if it had been previously cooked and reheated over and over,a few times well. I called the next day to complain about the food being old, to which I was assured that the food was not old, as they cook their food fresh every day, I was given a reason that the chicken may have been fried too much in preparation of the brown stew.. The gentleman was extremely professional and apologized, he told me to come on in for a free replacement lunch. I vowed to never go there again, however, because I took the time to put them on "front street" with this review, its only fair that they get a second chance to see if they can sway my opinion and decision. I have to say this restaurant really surprised me! The food was actually fresh and tasted great-a rarity at most Jamaican restaurants. The main sitting area was clean and had a welcoming feel. I ordered two fried chicken meals for my mom and I and was pleasantly surprised! We rarely patronize Jamaican restaurants because the food is of poor quality but this restaurants has brought my faith back! I have to say though the woman that served me the food wasn't very pleasant. I expect a certain level of customer service when I go places and she just didn't look happy to be there. Thankfully, the guy at the register(I think he might be the owner) made up for her short comings! He was pleasant, smiling, and very personable. Okay, so I gave the location 3 stars for the lack of "friendly service." I am big when it comes to customer service, and feel a company should strive to hire pleasant people (not faking it for a paycheck) when dealing with the public. I often go to this location and find the owner is super nice, but I find a lot of the young ladies to be rude, uninterested in what they are doing....just downright unpleasant! Once we got home and began to have dinner we both noticed that oxtail was very tough and had no flavor at all. My husband said that he liked the rice with peas but I only liked the salad. My wife ordered the fried chicken which we did end up taking and she enjoyed my goat more than I did, and she doesn't even like goat like that. I've been coming to this restaurant for the past three years now. Every time I come, I am always greeted and positive manner by the staff present. The food is by far extremely fresh. Around lunchtime, the lines are not stressful, as a staff are pretty quick and correct getting your order. If anyone asks me one of top favorite Caribbean locations, this is definitely one.
