Patrons of this bar have earned a degree in day drankin'. It smelled like a day-old diaper near the trash can so we moved seats. You will find older/age locals, a few twenty somethings pre-gaming before a bachelor party, and folks like us who popped it for a drink to watch the end of the Cubs game. Do not order food here. I watched the guy who runs the grill make all the food without wearing a pair of gloves. And the guy was a real jackass to the female bartenders. And...an older gentleman with gray hair who re-stocked a few bottles in the beer well slammed down a few bottles on top of the bar and a few pieces of glass went flying and hit some bar patrons. read more

If you're a female, don't bother trying to order a drink from the 2 bar tenders that can't handle their bar plus tables. They will not even make eye contact with you if you're a girl. And even when you do order your ONE drink, they will not get it for you. They do, in fact, keep the men taken care of. Being a bar tender myself, this behavior is unacceptable especially for this type of establishment. Very very under average bar tenders. Terrible service. They need at least 2 more girls working a WEDNESDAY. read more

I ate from this restuarant one time and I dont think I will ever go back. Well I have one dilema iand its just with one person. Heres the situation. Myself and some co-workers ordered from there for lunch. Both of them got the pancakes and sausages. And I got the shrimp basket. Now the food was good, I didnt have a problem with that. But let me tell you what I did have a problem with. I have a problem with someone cooking my food who doesnt wear gloves. I saw him grabbing and laying out the bacon, and then opening up the eggs contaniner. Talk about cross contamination. gross.. Now, i ate my shrimp because the restaurant isnt gross or anything. Plus I doubt that he had to grab my shrimps with his bare hands. So, I go back to the job and share with my friends that the cook doesnt wear gloves when he cooks. they were displeased to hear that. They still ate the food, because they said they was starving and plus becuase they stated that the food is good. All in all, I want to give snickers a good score for their food, but give them a minus * for their cook who dont wear gloves when he cooks. read more

The chicks that run this place has serious personality issues. No smiles, no engagement, and definitely not a chance of having more than an ounce of liquor served in your cup. This place was super close to our hotel. We went in for late night drinks. Background music choices were okay. Decently busy, but not packed on a Saturday night. Beer was $7.50 and mixed drink was $10. They were very strong cocktails. Heavy pour-ers here. The entertainment for the night was a bar brawl that broke out. However, the bouncers were able to help break it up quickly. Overall, a good dive bar. read more

First time in Chicago en route to an after hours club. Asked a group standing in front of Snicker's for directions and the next thing I know I was having a great time drinking Jagermeister and Old Style beer at the bar inside of Snicker's. The locals were cool and the bartenders courteous (and calm when a fight broke out!) Snicker's is a dive without a great deal of funky dive atmosphere but it was an interesting contrast to the Wit. I can't imagine eating at Snicker's, but I guess it is nice that they offer the option. read more

This place ruined my fiancé. He expects every gyro to be as good as this one. My god, it was to die for. I had a Greek salad with basically a plate of feta.. The stuff I live for. Wonderful food, fast service, plenty of cheap beer and good drinks. People watch, or just watch the little bartenders do their thing. Either way, so good. I love this spot! Oh, what a find! This is a dive people, so ignore the "Deli" in the title and just stick to the basics-- beer and cocktails! One of the best jukeboxes in the city. It's loud, it's brash and it used to be smoky, but it's always fun! You'll see everyone from businessmen in suits, hot-to-trot trixies, 80's types in "mom" jeans, leering guys with chew in their back pocket and so on! Be prepared to hear anything from Tupac to Def Leppard. Unless, of course, you guard the jukebox and skip over the crap. People are usually so wasted here they don't even notice that their bad picks are being deliberately skipped! read more

I found a paper clip in my drink. I brought it up to the bartender hoping they might make me a new one (many people don't wash their hands so you never know who has touched it). Instead, I was told "no one uses paper clips here" and the paper clip was removed and the exact same drink was handed back. How absolutely rude! read more

I feel bad for this bar... seriously! My husband and I went here and the waitress added an additional $75 to tip line on a $50 tab. Obviously NOT an appropriate amount and we weren't black out drunk. Best part is we still had the customer receipt to prove that the amount was bogus! The owner argued with us and showed us the receipt that the waitress forged. The signature wasn't even close! Fun place downtown to get your drink on. Not nearly as obnoxious as some of the other bars in the area. The set up is coffee shopish, with the meathead to female ratio is pretty good if you're looking to hookup. While not a place I'd be a regular at, I'd come back when in the neighborhood. read more

Ahhh Snickers. This is where I was introduced to "The boss has pissed me off so I am going to drink in the middle of the day" A fellow co-worker was having quite the bad day and being the newbie she dragged me along to Snickers where I could get lunch and she could quietly slam three cosmos. The lunch crowd varied but I had a feeling that most in there either didn't have a job or they were well versed in the day drinking during work hours routine. I had a hot dog and fries which were neither good or bad. The crowd was entertaining to watch as was my friend when the alcohol began to take hold. Unfortunately that co-worker moved on but I upheld the tradition of taking the newbies "for lunch". This is not the place to go and be seen...this is the place to go to not be seen. read more

Great Dive Bar! I always stay in the loop and so I just walk a couple blocks to Snicker's they have these Russian Hottie Bartenders and drink specials. I have met artists, CEO's, and blue collar workers just getting off work at happy hour there. You just never know who you will meet and the juke box is rockin too. What a perfectly dive-tastic bar in the midst of a very NOT divey neighborhood. When you get sick of fancy steakhouses and upscale everything, you can stop into Snicker's for a dose of reality. The beer is cold and there are often specials. I haven't eaten here...and I probably never will. It looks questionable at best. I would give a zero if I could I was assaulted by the bouncer of this place and the owner was there and didn't care. By assaulted, I mean I was dragged out by my hair in the middle of the street. So ive been coming to Snickers for years. I loved coming here. It was divey, affordable, nice emoloyees. Its changed. Prices keep rising it seems and its become more trendy. Waited on thurs going between the bar and a table trying to get a drink. My friend got 1 but after 40 minutes of chilling waiting for her to drink her drink i was resigned to just leaving right away when she was done. .lo and behold a bartender came up and asked if we needed anything! She seemed to be the only 1 helping people as it was. Not a huge fan of this place anymore. I like neighborhood bars to hang it but guess I'll be looking for a new one. read more

Old time River North place. Wasn't called River North back in the day. Great diner type food. Great scene. Not really a dive, but not a real trendy place either. Beautiful Polish bartenders. Owner says he only hires Polish woman bartenders because they always show up for work. Strong drinks. Been coming here for many years and sometimes take clients here who get a kick out of the place. It's a former deli, but I award four stars for the new genius business model: Greasy gyros + full bar + constantly-rotated position of down-on-her-luck/smoking hot eastern European bartender = hopeless, worthless noontime alcoholic crowd = low maintenance $ engine. read more

How Snicker's remains in business in this high-rent district is a mystery, but it has a nice throw-back feel in an area replete with pretentiousness. Looking for a good dive bar with reasonable prices in the middle of River North amidst the overpriced and pretentious places...Well you found it. This place is pretty no thrills. It personifies dive bar, but the pour a stiff drink and there's enough to choose from. There is a juke box that apparently you can pick songs and pay for from your phone. Can't say the musical selection was the best, but it was a Tuesday night. read more

I only ordered a gyro sandwich, to go. It was great. Bartender greeted me within 30 seconds. Order was out in 5-7 minutes. If you want a traditional gyro joint, gyro, this is the place. So much meat in the sandwhich, I could barely pick it up. Fries were great too. All for $10; Plus tip. read more
