Before I even get to what may genuinely be the greatest burger I've ever eaten, I have to start with Nevaeh. Somehow, Nevaeh managed to make three grown men eating burgers after rock climbing feel like we were being welcomed home after returning from a dangerous expedition. Every Wednesday, two of my childhood friends and I go rock climbing together. We've known each other forever, and our Wednesday routine has become sacred: climb until our fingers are destroyed, debate whether we got stronger or just found easier problems, then head to Eureka! for burgers and beers. And then there is Nevaeh. From the moment we sat down, her service was exceptional. She was warm, funny, attentive, and somehow appeared exactly when we needed something without interrupting three childhood friends catching up. The IPAs arrived cold and perfectly timed. And then came the burgers. After climbing for hours, you're operating on another level of hunger. Your forearms are cooked, your fingertips hurt, you've had that first sip of IPA, and you're discussing completely meaningless things with the seriousness of a United Nations summit. And then, in the distance... Nevaeh appears. Carrying the Double Smash Burgers. Time slows down. Conversation stops. Three men quietly turn their heads. She approaches carrying what can only be described as beautifully constructed monuments to beef. With the confidence of someone who understands exactly what she's bringing to the table, Nevaeh places the Double Smash Burger in front of me. At that moment, nothing else matters. I've been eating burgers since I was a child. Backyard burgers. Burgers after sports. Fast-food burgers. Steakhouse burgers. Gourmet burgers with ingredient lists requiring their own table of contents. I'm 41 years into my burger education. I thought I understood burgers. Then Nevaeh put this thing in front of me. The patties have those magnificent thin, smashed edges pressed against the griddle until they develop a deeply browned caramelized crust. The edges are crispy while the center remains incredibly juicy. Then comes the cheese, melted into every irregular crack, crevice, and crispy edge until the beef and cheese essentially become one glorious substance. The freshness and acidity of the toppings cut through the richness, the sauce brings everything together, and somehow the bun contains this entire operation without collapsing under the enormous responsibility assigned to it. Nothing dominates. Nothing is unnecessary. Every ingredient seems to understand that its sole purpose in life is to make the next ingredient taste better. Then you reach for the IPA. That first cold, bitter, hoppy sip after the burger is borderline transformative. The hops slice through the richness of the beef and cheese. The carbonation resets your palate. The bitterness contrasts perfectly against the salty, caramelized crust. Suddenly you're ready for another bite. Burger. IPA. Burger. IPA. Childhood friend says something. Nobody hears him. Burger. IPA. Nevaeh walks by and somehow already knows we're doing great. At this point I'm wondering whether she received specialized training in burger logistics because her timing was almost suspiciously perfect. Need another drink? She's there. Need something for the table? Already handled. Want to actually enjoy a conversation with friends without constantly being interrupted? She understands that too. That's what makes Nevaeh exceptional. Great service isn't hovering over a table every four minutes. It's anticipating what people need while allowing them to enjoy why they came in the first place. Nevaeh absolutely mastered that. Somewhere between the Double Smash Burger, my second IPA, and laughing with two guys I've known since childhood, I realized something. Burgers have quietly followed me through my entire life. Family barbecues as a kid. Burgers after sports. Burgers with friends as a teenager. Burgers after long days. And now, decades later, every Wednesday after climbing, it's still the same thing. Same food. Same childhood friends. We're just older now. And apparently we've finally found the final boss of burgers. The Eureka! Double Smash Burger. So I'm prepared to make an extremely irresponsible statement: This is the best burger I've ever eaten. Could climbing-induced starvation have influenced this conclusion? Possibly. Could two IPAs have strengthened my conviction? Almost certainly. But I have enough experience in burger consumption to stand behind my findings. The Double Smash Burger is phenomenal. The IPA pairing is perfection. But Nevaeh is what turns the whole thing into an experience. She doesn't just bring you a burger. She arrives carrying the burger. She presents the burger. Been to the Carlsbad location a few times (and enjoyed the food), so I was stoked to see this location while in AV. It was early and a chill vibe in there, so my husband and I gave their happy hour a try! Wonderful service from Emily that day, who made our first happy hour experience here, a happy one! LOL. I love the Eureka! restaurants. We 1st time we tried it was at their Indian Wells location. We loved their burgers & the interesting ingredients they put together. My daughters recently moved to the OC & they are fortunate to live down the street from the Aliso Viejo location. We've been there a few times & I always get the Fresno Fig burger. It is mouth watering delicious! Their sweet potato fries are also tasty. The service has always been great! We love sitting on their outdoor patio. The ambiance outside has been quiet & relaxing, which I like. I wish they'd open another location closer to me, so I could go more often. The one in Hawthorne, is the closest, but still too far away. Happy hour drink prices look to be pretty decent. Fish and chips are good but small compared with commensurate dishes in the area. The Fish Tacos al Pastor are excellent. Best restaurant in this category anywhere around ... because of the people like Faith V.! We recently moved back to Aliso Viejo, and heard about this place from three different people within a week or two. So we've been three times in the past couple months. The food is fantastic - we've had the Frachos, the lettuce wraps, and the Ahi stack as appetizers over different visits, and they are top-notch. We've had a couple sandwiches, and several of the burgers. Super fresh, cooked perfectly to our request, great sides. The drinks have always been just right - balanced, never too sweet or over the top anywhere ... just exactly what you'd hope for. While I think the food and the drinks are better than most, there's a lot of good options around for food. The thing that always makes us more likely to come back to a restaurant is great, caring service on top of terrific food. I feel like these days, just receiving decent service is better than average, so when people go the extra mile at Eureka to greet you quickly and warmly when walking in, and then the server is super sweet and friendly all along, it makes a difference. It makes you feel more like you are a guest and not just a transactional thing, and makes it that much easier to choose Eureka the next time we are trying to figure out where to eat out. Good not great. We came in on 03 July, around 12:30, there was about only 3 other people in the whole place. Server was extremely slow, only came to our table maybe 1-2 times the whole meal and just overall not pleasant to deal with. Honestly the only thing that saved it was the manager; he was very friendly, kind and social. Our burger also came out medium rare when we asked for medium. They did apologize but most places would either comp their mistake or give a free dessert as a "hey we're sorry, let us make it up to you!" It's almost industry standard, but not here or at least with our server. Anyway, the food was good 8/10 and the inside is always clean and nice. We live right next door, but hardly come here because honestly it's just nothing special, at least not that special compared to all the other places they compete against like Webbs. read more

Eureka is definitely the go to place for burgers in Aliso! Now I gotta be upfront, these burgers are premium, the kind that have fig and all the fancy fixings, and the cost reflects it. I'm so glad I gave this Eureka! location another shot -- the service this time was amazing. This time, everything felt different in the best way. I wish I remembered the name of the gentleman who served us -- he was such a sweetheart. It was a rainy day, and since we sat on the patio with our fur baby, he made sure we were comfortable, even offering to turn on the heater and bringing out a water bowl for our dog. My husband and I shared the Wild Child cocktail (still my favorite!), and split the bone marrow burger and wings. The burger was rich and flavorful, and yes -- I upgraded to truffle fries, which are always worth it. Love getting food from Eureka! I usually order pickup via DoorDash and it has never failed to deliver. The food quality is consistent and it's helpful they are open late. It's nearly impossible to find anything not fast food open past 9pm in Aliso. Even McDonalds closes before midnight! And I would pick Eureka anything over eating unhealthy junk food past 10pm. Not everyone works a 9-5 cake job ya know. The seared salmon platter I ordered recently was absolutely delicious. Loved the string beans and ripped potatoes too. The accompaniments really made the salmon taste great and filling by giving contrasting texture and flavors. Very well executed especially knowing I usually hate ordering something that can otherwise so easily resemble hospital food. But this? I wouldn't mind eating every night. The kids chicken bites were also delicious. It comes in a good portion size and everything tasted fresh.
