Snooty Fox is a well known breakfast/lunch joint nestled in a strip mall near the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Avenida De la Carlota, off I-5 Lake Forest exit. I usually tell my friends to use Coco's as the landmark then go all the way to the back. Daily specials are written on a white board by the entrance and I usually get one of those plates. It should not be a surprise to anyone who is a regular here that its "those potatoes" is a popular choice as a side. You will not be disappointed when you order a ham steak or a chicken fried steak. Walking in, you can definitely tell this place is a very classic diner that hasn't aged. Although, it's admirable that they kept this "style" for a really long time. All the tables are also seated fairly close, but it was not busy at all when we went around 11:30am! Service was also quick and friendly here! We ordered a eggs Benedict and the country fried steak for my bf. The portions were quite huge, so you'd be certain to be full from your meal! Digging in the eggs Benedict, it was very simple, but also very delicious. I enjoyed this one a lot! Adding the hot sauce complimented it really nicely. I also got my entree with "those potatoes" and the bell peppers were a nice touch to the hash browns. My bf's country fried steak was okay? It was definitely greasy and he said it was kind of plain, but he enjoyed his butter toast a lot. The additional sides are a bit pricey to add on. Overall, this was a nice experience! I mean it was good food. They did a good job. I would go back and I got the eggs Benedict and I really liked that. I didn't like the sausage as much, but it wasn't because they did a bad job. It just wasn't for me at the time. Sometimes I just don't like the taste of pork. But eggs Benedict with the ham yeah that was good and yeah, I know that's pork but it's a different type of flavor. If you know what I'm talking about either way it's a good place to go. If you want to have a decent breakfast in OC there's not a lot of those. read more

I had not been to the Snooty Fox for probably 15 years. It's not in our usual breakfast rotation but it will be now. We were looking for a place to go to breakfast on Sunday and all of our usual places had lines out the door. I remembered going to Snooty Fox long time ago and thought we would go there to see if we can get in. My husband had never been and luckily since we're only a party of two we didn't have to wait that long even though there was quite a line out the door. We probably only waited about 10 minutes and got a seat inside. The hostess was friendly as were the waitresses and the folks that brought our food. The food came out pretty quickly it was accurate and very tasty. The portion sizes were generous and I think the prices were pretty fair. I usually order the grilled chicken sandwich, the last 3 times it was overcooked and stringy each time. I did try the French dip once and it was dry and had absolutely no flavor. This is the quintessential old-timey diner, including all the greatest hits: brusque service, thick brown ceramic coffee mugs from 1974, and eggs served every way imaginable. The menu is huge, prices are reasonable, and the coffee is actually really good! We went at noon so I opted for a classic cheeseburger and fries (an upgrade option for another $2) and everything was fine; nothing to write home about. I think I would've been more bowled over if I had gotten breakfast -- all the plates around us looked pretty good! I was instantly greeted with warmth and nostalgia as soon as I opened the door. This is such a cute breakfast spot with wooden tables and brown hues all over. You pick where you want to sit. As a corner spot in the plaza, there are big windows all over which brings in warmth and sunshine. There is also outdoor seating which is dog friendly. I just felt so happy and comfortable eating here! The food also did not disappoint. I ordered the #21 which was French toast, 2 eggs, and meat (which I swapped out for hashbrowns). The portion was very generous and I ate half and took the other half to go. I opted for deep fried French toast, which I have never heard of at any other breakfast place before! It was fluffy on the inside and very interesting with a crusted outer layer. Compared to "normal" French toast, I will say it was a little hard to cut and didn't soak up syrup as much. I lovedddd the butter they put on top for some reason, and the syrup was the perfect consistency and sweetness. The hash browns were crispy and tasty, and the scrambled eggs were fluffy. To drink I had the decaf coffee, which they labeled with a little paper coaster that sits under the cup to let servers know not to refill with regular coffee. I really appreciated this little touch to provide the best customer service! The restaurant being almost full even before 8:30AM just goes to show how people must love coming here. Gloria was incredibly friendly, warm, and attentive, even though the place was absolutely packed. My husband and I were having the hardest time deciding what to order--everything on the menu looked so good! But Gloria was super patient with us, never made us feel rushed, and took the time to walk us through some of the most popular dishes. Her recommendations were spot on, and the food ended up being absolutely incredible. What really stood out, though, was her attitude. She had the brightest smile the entire time and truly went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and taken care of. That level of service is rare, especially during a busy breakfast rush! Gloria is a total rockstar and deserves a serious raise for how hard she works and how kind she is. We left with full stomachs and huge smiles on our faces. Yesterday was the first time I've been there and oh my gosh besides it being impact on a Sunday They have such a large large selection of food, and I ordered a tomato juice, a side of biscuits and gravy, and one scrambled egg. It came with two biscuits lots of gravy biscuits or tender and everything was just wonderful. They sang happy birthday to a friend of ours that was at the table and brought him a piece of chocolate cake. This place is wonderful. Definitely will go back. We waited about 35-40 mins to be seated and once we were inside the packed restaurant, our server greeted us right away. My husband ordered an omelet, our son had pancakes and sausage, and I went against the grain and ordered the French dip! This sandwich was heavenly. The bread was the perfect texture w/ generous piles of shaved beef (I had to ask for a side of horseradish as it surprisingly doesn't come with) and bowl of au jus to dip dip!
