Dr Snow and staff are wonderful! Very calm environment and listen to all my concerns (i.e. fears). They have been awesome and have gotten me to come back regularly for years (hard task due to aforementioned fears). I highly recommend. I'm now a regular and have even gotten 2 root canals and crowns which would not have happened before seeing Dr Snow and staff. I am here to say that FINALLY I will see another dentist besides Dr. Snow. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Dr. Snow. He has been my dentist since 2006. My husband has been his patient before we started dating. My son started seeing him as a toddler ( he's 11 now.). We all love him. At one point we went to a pediatric dentist (why?!?) and my son swore he would only go to Dr. Snow's office from then on. We've followed him to 3 locations and will follow him to 3 more. I've been getting nervous because I know he will retire soon. Real nervous. I could go on and on about what makes him so fantastic but I'm digressing because this review is about Dr. Koenig, the new dentist in the office. My son had a dental emergency today and as per usual, the staff was empathetic and swift to get us in. I'll be honest, I felt a little trepidation about it not being Dr. Snow when we got there. After the pediatric dentist fiasco we just didn't want another bad experience. Also, Dr. Snow had already extracted one of my kiddos teeth and it was painless for him. Well, Dr. Koenig immediately had a way about him that made my kiddo feel less nervous. I mean he was nervous but Dr. Koenig didn't let that rattle him and I think my son was braver because of Dr. Koenig's confidence. I could tell by the way he held the needle that he was going to be as good as Dr. Snow. Unbelievable!! He had the tooth out in under 5 minutes. No drama from my child, in fact his faith is restored in dentistry after having lost it at the fancy pediatric practice. Dr. Koenig was kind, informative and truly skilled. I felt like I did the first time I walked out of Dr. Snow's office so many years ago. (If I had gone into my history you would know exactly what a big deal it is for me to say that.) I should say that I had met Dr. Koenig before today's appointment after a cleaning. I have enamel loss and some discoloration on one tooth from acid reflux (I didn't even know that was thing). He spoke with me at length about why this happens, and how dentistry can help me. I had gone in expecting horrible news and a gigantic price tag. He assured me it wasn't awful and was not an expensive fix. He even shared some personal experiences that put me at ease and really highlighted his empathetic side. I really (REALLY) liked him BUT when I went to make my appointment, I chickened out (thanks ghosts from my dental past) and insisted Dr. Snow do the job. Of course my tooth looks great and Snow did a fantastic job but I will never dismiss Dr. Koenig again. He won my trust today and I feel pretty silly for not trusting my gut the first time I met him. If you are like me and are worried about who will replace Dr. Snow (I know he's had some duds in the mix thru the years), worry no more. Dr. Koenig is amazing. Since I'm here already, I can't ignore the ladies at the front desk. They run the show. They have always been 100% helpful, getting me in for emergencies, calling me diligently when I've asked to be put on a waitlist, helping me navigate crappy insurance, or dealing with my stress when I haven't had any. I've watched them help other patients in the same joyful way they've helped me. I can't imagine them being any other way. WOW! Had a great dental experience at Dr. Snow's. I get very nervous going to the dentist but once I got there the atmosphere was very relaxing. Nichole was my Dental Hygienist and she was always smiling and did a great job cleaning my teeth. Her smile kept me relaxed. She even drew a smile on my appointment card...haha I couldn't have asked for a better person to take care me. I met Dr. Snow and he examined my teeth. I fell in love with this place. Before setting up an appointment we read the Yelp reviews. So when we called to set up our appointments they told us they didn't have an opening for new patients for 6 months, it wasn't a shock. Our receptionist used Dr Snow for years (and gave him some of his famous fishes) and over the years a lot of people from our office have been to see him. All were very happy. He is a very caring dentist, not one who pushes expensive treatment unless it is absolutely necessary. If you need major work done and money is tight,Charlie Snow will figure out a way to get it done within your budget. He has had several different hygenists over the years, some better than others, so that is why I only gave 4 stars rather than 5. I picked Dr. Snow as my new dentist largely because of the hugely positive reviews on Yelp.I was reluctant to change dentists, but my old dentist wasn't on my insurance plan and was crazy expensive. I was frank with Dr. Snow about wanting a dentist who was an excellent practitioner as well as proactive in the care of my teeth. I had one molar that my previous dentist put on the "watch" list a few years back because she was concerned that the worn crown would compromise the underlying tooth. I communicated this to Dr. snow on my last several visits knowing that he was known to be conservative in his management. He was not too concerned. Well, the moment came. On vacation I started experiencing temperature sensitivity. I babied the tooth through vacation and called Dr. Snow's office on my return. I mentioned to the receptionist that the pain got worse each day and that I needed an appointment as soon as she could get me in. She said she would call me back, but never did. I called back the next day and spoke to a different receptionis. I expressed increasing urgency. She said they were overbooked, but would call if there was a cancellation. I never heard back from her. What stuns me even more is that it has been well over a week and still no call. At a minimum, you would expect that a dental receptionist would have the common sense to atleast look ahead on the schedule and try to fit you in for a dental emergency. No luck there either. Still no call. I had to go back to my old dentist. It seems that there was decay under that crown with a hole in it. Worse still, she considered it a "hot" tooth possibly in need of a root canal. I'm now scheduled to go see him. So what could have been simple, proactive maintenance will most likely incur costly work and the loss of a previously healthy tooth. As a side note, my old dentist was going on vacation this week. She instructed her receptionist to call and check in on me while I was gone. She did. She also gave me her cell phone number and asked me to text her if there were any issues. She said she would be in Montana, so reception was iffy....but that her cell phone usually worked and she wanted to make sure I was okay. I suggest you skip Dr. Snow's office if you are looking for a dentist that will take care of you and your teeth when you really need it. Dental emergencies happen. What shouldn't happen with a good dentist is being left out on a limb without any resources. read more

Dr. Snow has been my regular doctor for years. He is a great doctor, very knowledgeable, and laid back. His hygienists vary from great to so-so, particularly when it comes to professionalism. His office staff are nice enough. The most annoying thing about visiting his office is that both Dr. Snow's and the hygienist's appointments tend to run late. One time I even left because I had to get back to work and could not wait for my appointment any longer. I've been going to Dr. Snow for over a year and he is a great dentist. Best novacaine shot giver ever! I'm a big baby and never feel a thing. He's very laid back and fun to talk to, as is his dental assistant. The bad is that I had a serious dental emergency last week and could not get in to see him. I spoke with his receptionist twice on Friday and she kept telling me she'd see if I could come in on Monday and would call me back. She did not, not on Friday afternoon and as of 3 pm today Monday, she has never called me. Why have a dentist if you can't get in with an emergency? I broke off my front tooth at the gum line-- not a trivial matter and I expect to be able to see my dentist when something big like that happens. If you just need a good dentist for routine cleanings and fillings, they are good. But if you want to be able to count on someone when you have an emergency, a big fat zero. read more

Dr. Snow himself is an excellent doctor. He is very knowledgeable and funny, making actual procedures very worry-free. Unfortunately, he has surrounded himself with some of the worst staff I have ever encountered. The receptionist does not seem to care about patients at all. I've had numerous appointments cancelled or ignored for absolutely no reason. Most recently, I was told that my appointment never got made and would have to be rescheduled for 5 weeks later, leaving me with a temporary filling for far longer than is recommended. There is no point in attempting to go to Dr. Snow for any sort of emergency, as the staff will refuse to give out appointments any earlier than a month in advance. He is always overbooked, and appointments that are kept generally run 45 minutes later than scheduled. To sum up: Great doctor, horrible staff. read more

Of several dentists (with great Yelp reviews) that I called who supposedly handled emergencies, Dr. Snow was the only one who called me back personally in the evening and made an appointment with me for the next morning. That was really caring and I am so grateful because the next morning I was in even worse pain and would have been in a terrible situation if I had not managed to get an appointment somewhere. I went in this week for a filling replacement and a cavity fill. I was so nervous from a previous experience that took place at another office. Dr. Adler cleaned my teeth first which I was surprised about, but also grateful for because of how gentle he was on my teeth. It calmed me down for the rest of the procedure due to his positive bedside manner. It's always awful to have needles in your mouth but I literally didn't feel the prick. He was able to get all three things done in an hour and it was painless and stress free for me. I was numb for a couple hours after but by evening I was eating and had no side effects. Mere words cannot express my gratitude for Dr. Snow and his staff. Not only is he a skilled dentist who actually may be the only dentist I'm not afraid of, but he also takes great pride in his work. He installed a crown a few years ago and when it broke recently, offered to fix it for free since the crown should have lasted quite a few more years. In another case, I had a dental emergency and he was able to see me right away and put me at ease about the problem. If I ever leave Austin, I'll miss the breakfast tacos and the ability to take dogs everywhere, but most of all, I'll miss this dentist's office. read more

I came here a couple of times before changing to a DDS down the street. I definitely would not recommend this practice if your work schedule is unpredictable and you're a frequent business traveler. Pros: -Dentists are very nice and knowledgeable Cons: -Hygienists are curt/unfriendly -Appointments are nearly impossible to make If you have to reschedule an appointment, your best bet is setting something up 3-6 months in advance. The front office staff won't call you for a reminder until the day before - and in that 6 mo. period usually my schedule has changed. I tried to reschedule my appointment and they put me on a waiting list. When I called to follow up about the waiting list and available appointments, I'd apparently been taken off the waiting list and only had the option to book something 5 mos. in the future. This situation happened twice - definitely not worth the headache. read more

I have been to Dr. Snow several times, for both a crown and to repair some old (not by him) fillings which had cracked off large pieces of my teeth. Dr. Snow is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and patient. "Patient" is nice, because the last thing you want is for your dentist to appear to be rushing in to start working in your mouth. He has both practiced and taught dentistry - he really does know his stuff. The fillings he did were so large that I was amazed I didn't have to get crowns, but he assured me that with the new technology of filling materials, they would be fine. Well, several years later, they are in fact so fine that I can't even identify which teeth he repaired and which are untouched! And to the people who have posted 2 and 3 star reviews, I have to say that grading down a dentist because you didn't think the hygienist was friendly enough is like criticizing the firefighter who saves you because they didn't shave that day. (Good) Dental work will be with you for a lifetime - that's what these reviews should really be about. I am very pleased to say that I am confident that Dr. Snow's work will stand me in good stead for many, many years to come. read more

Dr. Snow is an Austinite's kind of doctor. The main thing I love about him is that he doesn't push unnecessary procedures or products on you. Other dentists that I've been to inevitably want to talk to you about teeth whitening and a great new toothbrush, not Dr. Snow. In fact I remember my first visit with him, I was there for a cleaning. During the procedure he says asks me "Do you drink coffee or tea? And have I ever thought about whitening my teeth?" I thought "Here we go..." But then the next words out of his mouth floored me. I chose this dentist because of this name and ratings but my first dental experience was disappointing. The staff seems unfriendly and unacknowledged. I went to get x-rays to see about getting my last wisdom tooth out and when I got them taken they informed that though the x-rays didn't quite catch the far far back of my mouth and it doesn't appear that they are pushing into other teeth so I didn't need to worry about it. I wanted to get my wisdom tooth out for personal reasons and I could have sworn I had one more left in there so I didn't appreciate being told to just not worry about it especially when I was paying to get an accurate x-ray. Dr. Snow was super cool and I enjoyed his demeanor, however, my interactions with the ladies working with him had an unpleasant tone. I asked them if I got a crown put on and it fell off soon after if I would receive a refund or what would happen in that event, surely these places have policies yet they looked at me like that was a stupid question and said something on the lines of sure but that wouldn't happen. I think professional businesses should make a practice out of reassuring people that their concerns about their money are understood and that it's ok to ask any questions about a product before buying it and know it's relieving to a customer when they know their policies in and out and can run through a hypothetical consequence with you before you shell out all your dough. I am a person with extreme foresight especially in cases of expensive services so I called a head of time before booking the appointment to ask if I would receive discounts with my Vital Savings by aetna and someone told me sure. After the appointment the lady checking me out said she applied it but it wasn't very much. I then asked them to email me my x-rays which I received looks of annoyance with that too. They never emailed the x-rays(unless they misspelled my email?) until I had to re-request them today-I called to ask about how much my upcoming services would be with my aetna savings and the lady on the phone said they didn't accept that even though I was told during my last visit a discount was applied. I felt slighted by this group, until I got a call back soon after writing this review about how there was a discount applied after all. After seeing how haphazardly they operate, I still wonder if I did get proper x-rays done during an $86 visit. If you can get past multiple complications that may occur coming here, Dr. Snow has a delightful presence. read more

I just moved to the Austin area not long ago and was looking for a high-quality dentist. I went to Dr. Snow based on his rave reviews here, and I can now vouch that he is, in fact, WONDERFUL! I've seen him twice: the first time, I was in pain from a filling gone bad from another dentist. Dr. Snow quickly saw the issue the other dentist had left, did some reshaping, and the pain was instantly gone the next day! Miracle worker! The second time, my permanent retainer had come unglued and after expensive quotes from orthodontists for their initial visit fees plus taking off, remaking, and reattaching the retainer, Dr. Snow was able to fix the retainer for a much more reasonable cost and it only took ten minutes in and out! His staff is friendly and professional, the office is adorable, and in a great location! I'm happy I now have a regular dentist I can trust! read more

Dr Snow is the best Dentist I've ever been to. I use to be so tense when I needed a shot to numb my gum. He administers shots slowly & expertly & I never feel a thing. A number of years ago had to have a tooth removed due to the negligence of another dentist. I found Dr Snow through yelp. He did everything he could to save my tooth & when he had to remove it, he took his time & I couldn't even tell that he was pulling the tooth.
