There's a reason why this place is so busy! The ice cream is incredible and there's such a variety of flavors, you can't go wrong! We did the ice cream flight (6 small scoops for about $11) and my ranking was as follows: 1. Cookie Monster - great chunks of cookie dough and Oreos 2. Peanut butter cup - I loved the big pieces of peanut butter cups! 3. Peconic swamp thing - a chocolate base with fudge and raspberry swirls 4. Parent trap - a special flavor of vanilla with Oreo and peanut butter 5. Birthday cake - not bad, but too much of a French vanilla flavor for me 6. Mint chip - again, not bad, but it leans too much to soapy- mint Go visit this place and select your own lineup!

Very popular place on a sunny day July 4th weekend.. line moved quickly and service is fast. We got the Cookie Monster and the cherry pistachio and were pleased with it. We liked the cherry pistachio better but I came back the next day for more. Would recommend.

We were next door for lunch at Funchos so it's a no brainer to walk over for iced cream after! Great service despite the long line and isn't much more than an old ice cream shop but it was delicious. A tad expensive (3 ice creams for $23) but really really good treat for rare trips out east.

Depends on the audience. In my opinion worst ice cream I've ever hard. I got the cookie dough. It was plain, flavorless, really put the vanilla in VANILLA because it tasted like I was eating frozen water. The hot fudge wasn't hot and just hardened. The cookie they add for decor was the best part.

We stopped in during our day trip out east. We got a mango sorbet and the flavor of the week blueberry crumb cake with whipped cream and blueberries on top. The blueberry crumb cake was amazing! The mango sorbet was good as well. For a Monday afternoon, the place had a long line, but it moved quickly. Plenty of places to sit outside and decent prices. We'll be back if we are ever out in that area.

As always, we could not pass up a visit to Snowflake. Ice cream is my krytonite! This time I tried the Cookie Monster and really liked it. My gal had the flavor of the week, Caffeinated Turtle, coffee ice cream with caramel, pecans, and dark chocolate flakes. It was delicious. A few weeks ago they had Polish Blackberry Brandy ice cream which was terrific. The flavor of the week specials are always pretty darn good, as is their regular flavors.

Discovered this local ice cream shoppe a few years back and have coming back ever since. Pictures are from my many visits. Their homemade ice cream is unique with flavors like Peconic Swamp Thing, Black Magic Woman, Cookie Monster, and Cotton Candy. Of course, you can find the usual fan-favorite flavors of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip and cookie dough. The Peconic Swamp Thing and Black Magic Woman and Peanut Butter Cup Crunch are my favorites. Service is friendly despite it always being busy regardless of what time of year or day it is. They also have soft serve ice cream, shakes, sundaes and cakes! They even have ice cream for your fur baby dogs. If you're looking to sit to eat your ice cream, there are limited benches and tables. We usually eat in the car. But we're not here for the ambiance, we're here for the ice cream. For the cone sizes prices are reasonable and the ice cream is creamy and delicious! You'll be happy and satisfied. An ice cream lover's delight for sure.

Ordered the black magic woman. It's chocolate ice cream with chocolate fudge, chocolate crunchies, and chocolate chips. Absolutely delicious and the best combination of all my fave toppings! It's a small store so it definitely gets crowded when it's busy. But the staff are fast and efficient at taking orders. I'll definitely come back whenever I'm in the area again.

Oh my gosh was this amazing. For the amount of people in the cute little shoppe it was pretty fast service. The employees where nice and the ice cream was AMAZING. It was so creamy and rich. And was super good. Not to mention you can buy any ice cream soda and the portions are pretty big and well priced. Either way this place was amazing read more

OMG, so good!! One of the better ice cream shops that I've gone to, and believe me I've gone to plenty. Do you love peanut butter? Do you love shakes? Do you wish you could drown yourself in the combination? Then do yourself a favor and order their peanut butter shake (oh, you knew that was coming). It is honestly out of this world and it tastes like you stuck a straw in the sweetest jar of peanut butter. 5+ stars and highly recommend!! Their chipwich is good, but not great. The vanilla ice cream in the center is definitely spot on, but the cookies aren't as soft as they should be. They are very flavorful, don't get me wrong, but they didn't seem to freeze right and they crack when you bite into them. Still 3.5 stars, but there are stronger options here. The cookies & cream with "stuff" topping completely rocks! First off, the ice cream is ridiculously good and it alone would warrant a 5 star rating. However, add their "stuff" topping (a mixture of other toppings), and you've got the recipe for a memory making dessert. 5 stars and one of LI's treasures!! read more

Worth the trip. I live in Colorado, but I have family on LI. For the past two years that I have come to visit I put a stop for a frozen treat at Snowflake on my "to do" list with the family. This year I had the cherry vanilla, it was the best I've ever had. My sister, who is the world's pickiest eater had the chocolate chip cookie dough and raved about it. Commercial ice cream brands miss the mark. Yes we have a lot of snow in Colorado, but we have no Snowflake! read more

I joined Yelp just so I could add a review for this Ice Cream. This is the best Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream I have ever had. Huge PB cups not just pieces. In my small cup I counted at least two full cups and about 4-5 half cup. Went on a rainy night and we stood outside, cold as it was, and ate every last bite. It was off season so no long lines but I'd wait for this ice cream any night of the week. If you are anywhere near Riverhead you need to make it a priority to stop here. The staff are awesome and friendly. Wish I didn't live 2.5 hours away. Thanks for the hospitality and amazing samples. read more

Listen up everyone...Snowflake has the most delicious homemade ice cream ever!!!! From the time I was a little girl from Huntington, my family would stop here on the way to East Hampton, where we would vacation during the summer. I have since moved around a bit. I've lived in Texas and Florida plus traveled through quite a few states and still I would pick Snowflake as the BEST! The ice cream is smooth, creamy and of the highest quality. My favorite is the Strawberry Sundae...big pieces of fresh strawberries mixed in the the most awesome strawberry ice cream, covered with large strawberry halves swimming in homemade syrup, topped with fresh homemade whipped cream and a cherry! My mouth is watering just describing it! If you are out East, this is THE place for Ice Cream!!!! read more

Bring a cooler with you if you pass by riverhead, this place has the best ice cream and the most imaginative flavors. Peconic swamp thing and cherry vanilla are an awesome combo, like a yin yang devil angel most complete ice cream experience you could ever hope to experience fully clothed. The butter pecan is rich, the lemon is delicate and the flying saucer sandwiches are great too. Bring some home! Oh and dont miss the rum raisin! read more

Holy moly homemade ice cream. You will drool just looking at it. I had the cookies and cream (you could actually taste the mashed up Oreos, unlike many places where it's just the slightest cookie taste). Cones are nothing special, but that can be overlooked. I also tried my friend's sundae. The homemade whipped cream was fantastic. They let him get as many flavors as he wanted, even though he got a small, which I thought was great. Too bad it's so far away, though probably a good thing for my waistline. read more

Fresh, wonderfully varied ice cream. This place has the best ice cream so far that I've encountered in Suffolk county. I'll drive a half hour to go here, and I always get like two or three half gallons to go. Peconic swamp thing, peach, and their maple walnut are my top flavors. It stores well at your house, and every person I've brought there rants and raves how tasty it is. Plus its next to Funcho's. Best combo ever! read more

Yum! Stopped here after a softball tournament, what a great treat to end the day. Friendly, homemade mixtures, huge portions. I've been coming to Riverhead for yrs and went to the chains. No more! This will be our place - it's so close to strotzky park and the outlets - it's off the crowded main road. Highly recommend Sherri's delight - one of the flavors of the week. Excellent ice cream. Very homemade quality. Lots of fun flavors. Excellent prices. Friendly, patient staff. I highly recommend. The cookies and cream has full oreos in it! The Peconic Swamp Thing chocolate ice cream and brownie chunks is goodness from the gods! I loved the cherry vanilla as well! They also have an unusually wide variety of sprinkles, like mint chocolate, cherry, stuff, etc. Lots of homemade novelty ice cream treats as well, great for a get together. read more

I love their soft serve ice cream!!! It's comparable to soft serve from momofuku milk bar. During the summer I get their soft serve every other day and I even bring some home for family members. The staff is always so friendly and smiling. My niece also got their mint chocolate chip ice cream, which has also been a favorite of mine was also delicious. We came really early on a Friday and by the time we finished eating the crowd had arrived so I imagine it gets very busy. We had the chicken and burnt ends platter, took some slaw and pulled pork to go and bought a bottle of bbq sauce. We regretted not buying more, we live in Queens so its not a quick trip with young kids but we can't wait to go back this summer when we vacay in Hamp Bays. Highly recommend everything was fresh and delicious, sweet potatoes were perfect nothing was greasy. I hope this place never changes the quality.

Courtney and John are always so hospitable when we visit. They go out of their way to make each visit memorable. At this point, they feel like extended family. The BEST homemade ice cream- EVER. This ice cream is made on premise- a hard thing to find these days. There is something for everyone on the menu- one of my kids likes to switch it up and get a different flavor each visit (she has yet to come across one she didn't like- including the homemade italian ice). My son is in LOVE with Peconic Swamp Thing- a chocolate lover's paradise. My favorite (as well as the fav of my youngest daughter) is the soft ice cream- by far the creamiest around. We go through withdrawal since we aren't local anymore but we go daily when we are in town. A birthday just isn't a birthday without a Snowflake Ice Cream cake. All of Snowflake's delicious ice cream goes, well, just DELICIOUSLY! My personal favorites include lowfat chocolate peanut butter, soft serve, pretty please! I have to add that the gelato flavors are SO refreshing and tasty, it IS almost always hard to decide what to choose. Also, when strawberries or local peaches are available, the super servers can treat you with sliced peaches or fresh berries covering your ice cream. You just may need to call ahead if your taste is seeking fruity goodness, then you can decide before you arrive! Homemade and delicious. Some places say its homemade but you get that artifical aftertaste. Almost like they use a packaged base and just add flavors. You don't get that here. Great creative flavors.
