There's a reason why this place is so busy! The ice cream is incredible and there's such a variety of flavors, you can't go wrong! We did the ice cream flight (6 small scoops for about $11) and my ranking was as follows: 1. Cookie Monster - great chunks of cookie dough and Oreos 2. Peanut butter cup - I loved the big pieces of peanut butter cups! 3. Peconic swamp thing - a chocolate base with fudge and raspberry swirls 4. Parent trap - a special flavor of vanilla with Oreo and peanut butter 5. Birthday cake - not bad, but too much of a French vanilla flavor for me 6. Mint chip - again, not bad, but it leans too much to soapy- mint Go visit this place and select your own lineup!

Just the best. Having a nut allergy, I am usually restricted to soft serve. Thankfully, they always have the best flavors for soft serve! I got a banana blueberry swirl. Amazing! Adorable place, fast service. Go here after Funcho's for the best experience

Very popular place on a sunny day July 4th weekend.. line moved quickly and service is fast. We got the Cookie Monster and the cherry pistachio and were pleased with it. We liked the cherry pistachio better but I came back the next day for more. Would recommend.

We were next door for lunch at Funchos so it's a no brainer to walk over for iced cream after! Great service despite the long line and isn't much more than an old ice cream shop but it was delicious. A tad expensive (3 ice creams for $23) but really really good treat for rare trips out east.

Depends on the audience. In my opinion worst ice cream I've ever hard. I got the cookie dough. It was plain, flavorless, really put the vanilla in VANILLA because it tasted like I was eating frozen water. The hot fudge wasn't hot and just hardened. The cookie they add for decor was the best part.

We stopped in during our day trip out east. We got a mango sorbet and the flavor of the week blueberry crumb cake with whipped cream and blueberries on top. The blueberry crumb cake was amazing! The mango sorbet was good as well. For a Monday afternoon, the place had a long line, but it moved quickly. Plenty of places to sit outside and decent prices. We'll be back if we are ever out in that area.

As always, we could not pass up a visit to Snowflake. Ice cream is my krytonite! This time I tried the Cookie Monster and really liked it. My gal had the flavor of the week, Caffeinated Turtle, coffee ice cream with caramel, pecans, and dark chocolate flakes. It was delicious. A few weeks ago they had Polish Blackberry Brandy ice cream which was terrific. The flavor of the week specials are always pretty darn good, as is their regular flavors.

Discovered this local ice cream shoppe a few years back and have coming back ever since. Pictures are from my many visits. Their homemade ice cream is unique with flavors like Peconic Swamp Thing, Black Magic Woman, Cookie Monster, and Cotton Candy. Of course, you can find the usual fan-favorite flavors of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip and cookie dough. The Peconic Swamp Thing and Black Magic Woman and Peanut Butter Cup Crunch are my favorites. Service is friendly despite it always being busy regardless of what time of year or day it is. They also have soft serve ice cream, shakes, sundaes and cakes! They even have ice cream for your fur baby dogs. If you're looking to sit to eat your ice cream, there are limited benches and tables. We usually eat in the car. But we're not here for the ambiance, we're here for the ice cream. For the cone sizes prices are reasonable and the ice cream is creamy and delicious! You'll be happy and satisfied. An ice cream lover's delight for sure.

Ordered the black magic woman. It's chocolate ice cream with chocolate fudge, chocolate crunchies, and chocolate chips. Absolutely delicious and the best combination of all my fave toppings! It's a small store so it definitely gets crowded when it's busy. But the staff are fast and efficient at taking orders. I'll definitely come back whenever I'm in the area again.

I had the opportunity to enjoy my favorite ice cream store on the PLANET - Snowflake is the BEST EVER! This time like all the other times I've made to the trek from CA to NY to visit family, we NEVER miss Snowflake. Freshest ingredients, creative new flavors. Great little gem with a large variety of hard ice cream, sundaes and even a few sherbet and sorbets. All flavors our 4 top tried were great but my personal favorites were cherry vanilla and the regular vanilla. Also really appreciate all their covid precautions. I don't know who the 2 young girls that work here think they are, but instead of doing their job, they were constantly talking shit about every customer that walked into the place and were giggling the whole time. Such a great icecream place but horrible customer service. Do better and get more professional people in there. So disrespect read more

Alarmingly delicious fresh homemade ice cream. We tried peconic swamp thing, cherry vanilla, black raspberry, strawberry, and peanut butter crunch. The cherry vanilla was loaded with cherries, creamy and not overly sweet. But oh, the peconic swamp thing. It's chocolate ice cream with brownie chunks and raspberry swirl. There was once a homemade ice cream shop in Southampton called Fletchers that had a similar flavor but it closed down and with it any hope of a chocolate/fruit ice cream. I couldn't find it anywhere. I've searched high and low. The closest I've ever come was combining dark chocolate and candied orange gelatos at a shop in Rome. I digress. I am so happy to have this flavor in my life again after all this time! read more

I've driven by Snowflake countless times while tooling around Riverhead and I always wondered if it was any good. Well....yeah it's good, really good. Ice cream on Long Island is really hit and miss and homemade ice cream isn't easy to find. When you do find it, it's usually in the unlikeliest of places. Snowflake has a large assortment of original flavors and the lines are well deserved. On the day we went, we got a bunch of standard flavors but I got to try the pumpkin soft serve. That was fantastic - tasted just like pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream. Black magic woman also got good reviews - chocolate with fudge and chocolate crunches is a great choice as well. Staff is really friendly and helpful - took the time to explain all choices and flavors to all that asked. Serious thumbs up from a guy that doesn't like sweets. read more

Wait hold the door. (Sorry still recovering from GOT last season....) This place is unreal. I am SO happy we happened to drive by during our hamptons trip this weekend. This is that homemade neighborhood ice cream shop you go to every weekend (if you live nearby) or travel to whenever you're in town. It's THAT good. I tried the banana split and the peanut butter crunch (OMG!). All of their flavors that I tried were pretty much on point. What stood out to me most, however... was surprisingly the soft serve. Specifically, the pistachio soft serve. OH MY GOSH. I can still taste the flavor. It was to die for. Plenty of parking spots nearby (huge plus!) and outdoor seating available. This is a perfect spot in addition to your winery/brewery stops when in the area. Who doesn't love a good ice cream cone on a hot summer day?! There's always a line here no matter what time of day. But trust me it's worth the wait. It's also not the cheapest, but again worth the money. There's something about homemade ice cream that I just have a soft spot for. PLEASE go here. Its really quaint, they have unusually crazy flavors and its all homemade! My son ordered the "Cherry Pistachio" and I ordered the "Chocolate Fig Newton" soo soo good! Some adult supervision is needed here. Goofy teenagers, I asked for small cup of hard vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and nuts, guy asks me if I want hot fudge sauce I say no chocolate sauce. He puts nuts on first and then pours on chocolate sauce. Prices have gone up.. read more

Yum. It's ice cream. It's yummy. Maybe because it's March, but the only place to sit was on a few outdoor benches. Not where you want to sit when the temp is in the 30s. There's a reason they were voted best ice cream in New York State! We love their ice cream scoops (Black Magic Woman, Butter Pecan, Coffee, Pistachio, and really all of the ones we've tried!) The staff comes up with a flavor of the week which is often thematic and fun. The ice cream sandwiches are excellent and their soft serve cups are a favorite with the younger crowd. Worried about lines? Go before noon on weekends and stock up with points for home. read more

Extremely friendly staff who explain all the ice cream questions I had without batting an eye, yes please! Found this little place while on a layover and decided to give it a shot, pretty glad I did. they have a variety of flavors which everyone knows such as vanilla and chocolate ad some more exotic ones such as black magic woman and malt crunch. The price is kinda higher than what you would get at a sonic or DQ but the quality is way better than those two, so money well spent. If I'm back in the area I'll be sure to bring along of friend to keep business up. read more

Amazing variety of homemade ice cream, ice cream cakes and ice cream sandwiches. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They take the time to explain the unique flavors and had plenty of staff behind the counter to keep the line moving. This is as good an ice cream shop I've been to in the last 30 years. My recommendation is the vanilla Oreo, plenty of large cookie chunks with great vanilla ice cream. read more

Bomb, bomb, bomb ice cream! I love hand dipped and homemade OMG. Staff super welcoming and super nice and super patient. I'm high maintenance with food, and ice cream is what I live for. Like, eat a half gallon in a sitting live for. Okay so I haven't done that in about 6 years, but still it used to be a frequent occurrence. Ice cream is my first love and my first job was at a Dairy Queen. So I could eat all of the ice cream. Which I did. That said, this ice cream was delicious. I got peach, strawberry cheesecake and lemon. YUM. I tried a sample of the black magic woman (dark choc ice cream w fudge and mini choc chips), delicious but since I don't dig on cold pieces of actual chocolate (the mini chips) and I was feeling fruity, I went w every fruit flavor I tried. My 2 year old, who of course loves ice cream, but is not a sweet freak, tried some of the sample Cookie Monster (blue vanilla w cookie dough and Oreos) and LOVED IT so much it was the only spoon he wanted (yes I was juggling 5 sample spoons) so I got him a small one scoop. He ate all but a few bites, which I then finished, natch. Also, my husband got a boring vanilla soft serve w sprinkles, he said it was good. He wants me to add "it's not in the good part of Riverhead tho". Didn't look bad to me, but he's from the South Bronx, so he notices things I don't. Good as hell, will be back! read more

On our drive back home we decided to make an ice cream stop here because our friend saw it featured in some best ice cream list. We each ordered and I tried a seasonal fruit flavor which was very good. It's clearly popular and the ice cream has great home made flavors but it's not exactly the best locally made ice cream I've had. read more

A Riverhead institution on west Main Street. Very popular nationally awarded ice cream establishment. In summer, long lines but worth it. Many flavors. Soft ice cream and yogurt style as well. Limited benches outside so we enjoyed our selection in our car. Can't pick a single favorite, but love their maple walnut, pumpkin when in season, great vanilla too. Kids of all ages love Snowflake. I come often here since I live here in Riverhead . Just love trying the special flavors. I love anything with nuts. I had the opportunity to meet the owners. What a friendly, wonderful couple. There is pride in their offerings. Check out the variety of ice cream items that would be wonderful at a children's birthday party. Children of all ages of course. read more

They were all delicious and creamy, but my favorite was definitely the black raspberry. The flavor was rich and tasty. The ice cream was also the right amount of sweetness. I was fortunate to attend a private event yesterday with ice cream provided by Snowflake. The bionic swamp thing (or something like that) and cherry-pistachio were amazing flavors. Nona's choice was also great according to my partner. There were several other choices available but unfortunately, due to time and space limitations, we weren't able to try them all. I started coming to Snowflake back when I was in HS and every time I come home (now that I live across the countryI make sure to stop here. This is consistently the best ice cream you can find out on Eastern LI. If you are anywhere near here, regardless of time of day, make sure to stop by and grab something sweet because you will not regret it! And don't be concerned if the line is out the door - it's usually like that and moves pretty quick and is ALWAYS worth the wait! read more

The BEST homemade ice cream- EVER. This ice cream is made on premise- a hard thing to find these days. There is something for everyone on the menu- one of my kids likes to switch it up and get a different flavor each visit (she has yet to come across one she didn't like- including the homemade italian ice). My son is in LOVE with Peconic Swamp Thing- a chocolate lover's paradise. My favorite (as well as the fav of my youngest daughter) is the soft ice cream- by far the creamiest around. We go through withdrawal since we aren't local anymore but we go daily when we are in town. A birthday just isn't a birthday without a Snowflake Ice Cream cake. All of Snowflake's delicious ice cream goes, well, just DELICIOUSLY! My personal favorites include lowfat chocolate peanut butter, soft serve, pretty please! I have to add that the gelato flavors are SO refreshing and tasty, it IS almost always hard to decide what to choose. Also, when strawberries or local peaches are available, the super servers can treat you with sliced peaches or fresh berries covering your ice cream. You just may need to call ahead if your taste is seeking fruity goodness, then you can decide before you arrive!
