Have had 3 massages here. Never had same masseuse and all 3 were great. Great massage for the cost.

I had an hour to kill and had been looking for a fair priced spa for a few days. I was in the area and decided to stop in here for a no frills massage. I think the woman who worked on me was named Sunny. We were in the first "room" which was a curtain separating other curtained off massage tables. There was a cheap towel to cover myself and paper towels covering the table. I would assume that the sheet under the paper towels as well as the towel had been used a few dozen times without a wash. Anyway, the massage itself was very good but if you're the type of person that cares if a few random people are looking at their ass, this is not the place for you. As I was getting undressed, a few customers walked by which moves the curtain more than some would hope. My masseuse was the go to person for phone calls and random questions. I assume it was because her English was pretty good. Because of this, I got neglected a few times when she had to leave the room to talk to a customer 2x, get one the phone once and talk to other employees (who came into my curtain) at least 5-6 times. At first she whispered, but I guess since I'm not a complainer, she got more comfortable and was talking in a regular voice over my naked body. Honestly, I'd totally come back here. The price, paired with the massage was worth all the other crap. They also give out punch cards. 10 massages and you get 60 minutes free. read more

A very no-frills place to get a cheap massage. My mom and I stopped by to get a 20-minute foot massage. We waited just a few minutes before being brought back. The rooms are divided with curtains, so it's not super private, but the massage was fantastic. My only regret is that we didn't get a longer massage. Price was about $20. read more

Massage was super amazing - great pressure, movement, and my body felt so good afterwards. Don't expect a fancy spa. This is a place simply to get a good massage and that's it. Remember to clarify what you want them to work on. If you just say you want a massage for 30 min they'll start with their regular 1 hr routine and ask if you want to add more time to work on the other areas. Price is affordable (20 min for $20, 30 min for $30...). They add on extra $1-$2 if you pay by card. I wasn't told I had to pay 20% tip like the other reviewers were so maybe they changed this policy? Walk-ins are fine. This place is OK. After reading the reviews I decided to visit on a day I needed a good back rub. The space is tiny, upon entering I was taken to an area in the back with separated by sheets. Probably the smallest massage area I've ever been. It was so small twice people walked by and hit my feet from outside the sheet. The massage itself was not bad, but not the best either. The woman did work on my back using both her hands and feet which was good. I will probably visit them again since they are extremely close to my apartment but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

My friend and I went here for a foot massage and they were able to take us within 15 mins of calling them on a Saturday night. The place is small. I think there were 4 beds total, each separated by a sheet. The service itself was good, I got a body massage with hot stone (just the back) and a foot massage for one hour and they charged me $50. The only complaint I have is you can hear everything, it was cold, and wished the lights were slightly dimmer. read more

They consistently have problems with their booking platform. I've called and made reservations twice now confirming my appointments over the phone, only to arrive and have them tell me that they are overbooked. They often overestimate the wait time and have people entering afterwards wait in line as well, if not they would send customers off and request they return 1-2 hours later. I've had major chronic back pain since high school and have gotten tons of massages in my life from all kinds of places. I once got an aromatherapy European massage at a luxury spa resort on the shores of Hood Canal overlooking the Olympic Mountains in Washington State, where lotus flowers floated in a pool by my feet, the massage beds had 1,000 thread count sheets, and I was given a warm terry-cloth robe and slippers to wear after placing my belongings in a Mahogany locker, and the only sounds I could hear were soothing Buddhist flute music and the flapping of butterflies' wings. Oh, and afterwards, they gave me iced cucumber water, handmade candy, and I was left to leisurely pamper myself in the 500 square foot marble-floored bathroom with a basket of complimentary Aveda samples.* Snowflakes Spa is nothing like that whatsoever. I walked in, was led behind a curtain basically 5 feet from the front door, and instructed to throw my shit in a bucket, lie down on a cot with a face hole in it and cover myself with a towel. But guess what? The $120 spa massage sucked - it was just a 60-minute petting with fancy oils from a licensed housewife wearing pearls. It was relaxing in the way that lying face-down in a pretty room to be hesitantly touched by a stranger is relaxing. The $48 hour-long massage I got today at Snowflakes, on the other hand, was f'ing awesome. I had the worst kink in my neck & shoulder all day on top of a bad spasm all week. Lisa worked it out. She also found every sore place on my entire body that I didn't even know needed work. The first part was over a towel, and then she brought out some oils and really dug in. Tiny Asian women with strong hands are maybe my favorite people on earth. Yes! Sit on top of me and dig your elbow into my shoulder! Roll your entire arm over my leg! And then finish every section with a hot towel which a) feels so soothing and b) washes off all that (good-smelling, but smelly) oil so I can take the subway home without sliding into a homeless person! By the end of my hour, I couldn't even hear the cars driving by 20 feet from my smushed face, because true relaxation is achieved by actual, tangible pain relief. And they're not savages - they offered me water before I left. I am so thrilled to have found a great, affordable massage within a few blocks of my office. I'm in the middle of writing my thesis for grad school and needed a good massage. I didn't feel like traveling all the way downtown to go to my usual spot, so looked on yelp to find a place midway and stumbled upon Snowflakes. The reviews I read had me excited, but wait for it. I go, wait 10 minutes sitting on the massage cot and finally he comes in to massage me. He literally walked out 4 times during the massage to answer the door and chat with customers, then sat on the phone for another 5 minutes while giving me a half-assed massage. I came in at 8:30 and he was done by 9:15 and charged me for an hour. Mind you, all of the distractions that took place AND he short changed me time wise--I was a bit on the pissed side. It was obvious that he was an "extra" on hand because he had no technique whatsoever. I came in w/ pain and left with it...I'm thoroughly disappointed. I will not be returning. read more

My husband and I came here and tried the hot stone massage. Like its name, it was freakin hot. I felt so bad for the girls because you can tell the stones were literally melting their hands off. However, it felt so good on the body that I think for once in my life, I enjoyed being selfish. The prices are reasonably, if not very affordable. Who cares if you're a few feet away from someone else. There's a sheet that separates you from others. You can put your personal things below the bed and keep an eye on it through the hole you rest your head in. So I just got back to my apartment from this Mecca of massage that lies only 6 blocks away from the very couch I am currently sitting on. Literally, I just walked in to this place - was immediately put in a private room filled with tantric Chinese music and within five minutes was getting a ridiculously good hour-long massage. $48 for the hour, it's grand and they really know what they're doing and seemed to focus on areas that specifically felt knotted up. This is by far the best Tui Na massage spot in Hells Kitchen. They offer comfy tables and face cushions, instead of putting your face through a hole in the table. I've had both Michael and Rita and both offered serious pressure to work out the knots, made sure I was comfortable and don't skimp on the hot towel treatment at the end. Snowflake also offers a frequent customer card, so after 10, you get a freebie. With their low prices and amazing service, you'll definitely want to come back, often! I have tried many Chinese massage places throughout the city, mostly the ones further downtown. However, I walk by this place every day on my way home, so I decided to drop in on a Wednesday night to check it out. Since I didn't know what I was getting myself into, I only asked for a 30 minute back massage because I didn't want to be stuck with an hour massage if I wasn't enjoying it. Sure, the place is small, but with their prices it can't be beat. The area you are in is completely closed off by curtains, so I felt absolute privacy. They offer a hanger for your clothes/coat, and they also offer a plastic bin for you to put your other belongings in (which they slide under your table, and you can actually see your stuff through the head rest, which I really liked although I never thought they would take anything). They play relaxing Chinese instrumental music, and when I was there they also had a sound machine going with relaxing nature sounds. As for the massage, I really enjoyed it. I felt that she used a bit too much oil, but her pressure was just right, and she didn't just go thorugh the motions. I had a few knots in my back and she took a little extra time to try and work those out. They offer hot towels at the end of the massage, which is a big plus in my book. Let me start off by saying that if you are looking for day spa to treat someone special, you might want to look somewhere else. However, if you had a long day at the office, or are just looking for some special attention for an hour, this is your place! It is no frills, but that is why I love it so much. I can come here regularly and get a high-quality massage at an affordable price. I believe that if you ask for an hour massage, they pretty much just do their standard massage consisting of a mixture of shiatsu, hot stone, and deep tissue. The massage was amazing, my girl (I cant remember her name) was great, pressure in all the right spots, found my trouble spots and worked them out no worries. The price was great too - 30m for $26 before tip! Its a little noisy but it didnt really bother me. This is my guilty pleasure. When my insanity workouts have gotten out of control and I can barely stand up afterwards, this is where I limp over to for some TLC for those achy muscles. It's nothing fancy, and you can hear more conversations from the street outside than you want to, but man oh man...best massage ever. You don't get any fancy robes, and there may not be incense burning in your "room", but for the price you pay, you can't beat it! It might be a good idea to take an appointment before coming in, specially on weekends when its get busy. Visited two days in a row - 5-star experience each occasion. Others' comments regarding no frills are accurate. Once your face down on the table though that fades away. I was downstairs each visit, and think I prefer that more than I would the upper level (brighter and more people transiting and therefore more noise). There is typical meditation/nature background noise also. Cannot beat price. I'm from DC and paid literally half what I would have paid were I back at home for 60 minutes at Snowflakes. On each occasion (different therapists) they found the knots and persisted to loosen them up. Each seemed very cognizant of being able to read my body, including current injury which I figured I'd see of they could identify before I told her about it - she did and adjusted pressure and technique without me saying a word. read more

I just had an 60-min massage here ($48 before tip, cash or Visa/MC) and it was absolutely wonderful. (I live pretty close by and you can't beat that price in this area.) The place is very no-frills and street-facing, so you get some ambient noise, but who cares? Get naked, be quiet, and ask for it strong. (Your other option is 'medium', which I can't imagine being very effective if you walk in with any kind of pain.) My masseuse (I already forget her name, probably because my brain is scrambled with bliss) figured out right away where my worst tension is concentrated (neck and shoulders) and spent more time on those areas. I like a little pain with my Tui Na, and this was nice and deep, slightly uncomfortable at times, but didn't leave me praying for death like the first place I tried. Personally, I think this is a plus. At the end of the session, the owner(?) gave me a buy 10, get 1 free card and two coupons, each good for 60 mins, body + feet for $40. Owner and masseuse were both super friendly. I will definitely be going back! If not for the sad state of my wallet, I'd be going back tomorrow. read more

I'll say up front that I am a big massage fan - deep tissue, someone who really knows their stuff, and understands the interconnectedness of the body. That's my disclosure up front as my review is based on that! I had Winnie, who is a bit below average in terms of her quality for massage. I asked her to please give me a stronger massage several times, and she didn't quite understand what I was saying. Each time she asked me if I wanted it lighter (?) I said "no, stronger please." Nothing changed so I stopped asking. She did accommodate my odd schedule, so that was good. The place doesn't small bad like Rub a Dub, so that was positive. You can hear everything though, so if you want to relax, skip this place entirely. I heard more people peeing in an hour than I've heard in the last month. (and what I believe are two massage therapists using the restroom and I didn't hear the water run afterward - like for hand washing - though I can't be sure.. and yes I'm OCD like that, so I did listen). The mops are so gross, that if the tables are cleaned with towels like the mops, I'm quite sure I will be infected with some gnarly fungal infection in a week. lol (or not lol) They have a frequent guest card so if you plan on going more, ask for one. Your 11th massage is free. Bottom line: If they weren't close to my house and I wasn't desperate, I wouldn't be back. If I'm desperate and have a bad neck problem, I may have to go there again because downtown is just too far late at night. read more

My hubby and I decided on a Sunday morning that we should go for a massage, I called to make reservation in the afternoon and I was so glad that I did, because i was having my massage treatment in the afternoon, they were lots of people coming in without appointment and had to come back again, it's surely a popular place. This is a great place if you are looking for an effective massage, nothing fancy but just exactly what we needed. Both of our masseurs were very good....which is rare and we both felt very relaxed after the treatment. The only thing is that my masseurs did mainly upper body work, I was very confused but it was my fault that I didn't say something about it.
