The taiyaki was quite good overall. The filling was a bit stingy, but the flavor made up for it. We tried the mini taiyaki - three mini ones for $3.59 - and ordered six in total: Nutella, custard, blueberry cream cheese, and red bean. We didn't care too much about the presentation even though it looked messy. Our favorites were the red bean and custard, both of which had great taste and texture. The blueberry cream cheese was also enjoyable, offering a unique and interesting flavor combination. For the price, we were pretty satisfied. After ordering, we were given a buzzer, so we took a quick lap around the food court while waiting. The taiyaki came out hot and fresh, which made a big difference. The typical shaved ice are hard little ice chucks with no flavor. They have different types. There is a fruit one with mango and strawberry. They also have a tiramisu flavor. I think they also have an Oreo one. The golden fish buns are good too. I like they are a little crispy on the outside. This is in the hmart food court. It is hard to find a seat there. The ice cream tastes even better in their fresh fish cones, especially if you get a Nutella filled center that adds just the right amount of sweetness. I LOVE Snowtime, their snow is so worth it. They DON'T skimp on the toppings like some other places. Their mango snow is my favorite, it comes with super fresh mango pieces, some cheesecake chunks and some cream. I don't remember what exactly is in it since it looks like it might be a new addition to the menu but if you love mangos then get it, you won't regret it. It's sugary addiction. Bing Su is frozen milk shaved and then topped with fresh fruit, sauces & pieces of cheesecake, brownie or mochi. Like a Korean shaved ice or an Asian sundae. Fun treat & not too too sweet. Tons of preselected bowls to choose from or make your own...my daughter chose this preselected bowl by the business & I must say it was really good, we were able to eat the whole small together which is pretty big! Small is 15oz container but they small, regular & large sizes. They also have Tai yaki which are fish shaped waffles that can be soft serve ice which they had 6 flavors to choose from and can be topped with an array of things like Oreo bits, tiny macarons, mochi & MORE. This is one of those places that I frequent for very specific items whenever I'm in the area. These items include brown sugar milk tea boba, taro milk tea, and fish buns with custard filling. Sometimes I also get their soft serve depending on who I'm with since they're big enough to share. None of these items I've mentioned are too sweet which is a plus. I don't know why but this is one of the only shops where I know my body can tolerate drinking brown sugar milk tea without feeling unwell afterwards, so kudos to them! I also would like to mention that if you do order the brown sugar milk tea, it does sometimes take a little longer if they have to make a fresh batch of boba, but I don't mind because its always warm, with the perfect amount of chewiness. Their service can be a hit or miss but they have always been friendly overall whenever I've been. After eating a savory meal at another establishment in this food court, we needed to follow up with a lil sweet treat. My family had never tried bingsu, so we were intrigued to say the least. We're suckers for anything chocolate, so instead of the usual fruity toppings, we opted for the Choco Butter Bliss which has snickers, brownies, graham crackers, and caramel sauce on top. One thing about bingsu which I guess we were no aware of was that the toppings are only on top, and not mixed into the whole dish. Of course you can mix it in yourself but we did not think that far ahead. We devoured the toppings on top and then was left with nothing but shaved ice for the remainder of eating it. Sad to say, we didn't feel like eating a bunch of sweetened ice (we're ice cream fanatics, not ice fanatics), so we didn't finish all of it. I really like Snowtime. Their shaved ice is so soft and fluffy. It is unlike the Italian ice or the snow cone ice. They use milk I think in the shaved ice. There is sweetened condensed milk as a topping if you want it. You can choose your topping or you can get one of their pre selected offerings. They have drinks but do not offer boba which is a surprise to lots of people. They have the little fish pastries with the option of Nutella or red bean or custard. I like the custard and the Nutella better than the red bean. Nothing wrong with the red bean and those who like it should probably get that filling. The fish cones are good too. They have flavors like matcha and taro or vanilla or chocolate some days. They rotate them out. For the mixed flavors you might have to go with what they offer that day because the machine can only dispense a mix of the two flavors they decided on that day. It's very sweet, so be sure you're into that! Their soft serve is delicious and for fun get a fish cone that you can fill with red bean paste, Nutella, or custard. Then your soft serve (get matcha) then add a couple toppings! They are obviously popular, so expect a wait. Service is great. I eat slow and the soft serve didn't melt through the cone by the time I was done. I'm not from the area so I usually get Somi Somi in SoCal. I like Snowtime's fish cone slightly better. Food and Drink (4/5): I got the Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea for my drink and the Boba Bliss for dessert. Both of items I got were equally delicious; however, they were a tad sweet. I know...I know...they are desserts haha. Unlike some other establishments, this Showtime didn't give me the option to change my preferred ice or sweetness level which kinda sucks. I prefer my drinks to not be so sweet; however, it was still good. The boba was nice and soft and the drink had an overall good flavor to it. For the Boba Bliss, it's considered a "snow." The Boba Bliss had brown sugar boba, vanilla-almond cereal, almond flakes, and brown sugar drizzle. It wasn't as pretty as I would like it to be but it was really good. Especially for a hot summer day, this was perfect to cool you down. A variety of different textures made it even better! Service (4/5): Overall, service wasn't too bad. Workers were distracted by one another which resulted in my products coming out slower then expected. Cashier was really nice and attentive. One of the better taiyaki's I've had in Arizona. This shop specializes in taiyaki treats, treats made into fish shapes using waffle batter. I opted for a traditional taiyaki which is filled with Japanese sweet red beans. It was OK. Not incredibly good, but passable. Taiyaki's are made in a special pan that folds in half like a waffle maker. My taiyaki's had a lot of excess baked batter around the fish shape because they put too much batter in the waffle iron. Not a big deal, but it just shows either how they lack experience or skill at making these. You have to understand--the Japanese are extremely attentive to food details. Presentation is EVERYTHING. Food is an artform. The recipe they use for the batter is pretty close to authentic. It was just a hair too thick in texture. The flavor was good, but just not quite authentic, and no, I can't put my finger on it. The sweet red beans were good. Overall, not disappointing. These were about $2.75 a piece, reasonable. They also do the ice cream cone thing where they use smaller versions of the fish as a type of waffle cone. Will I buy again if I'm at H Mart? Probably. I love taiyaki. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind.
