Wow! This food is insanely delicious! As we knew that we would be passing through Eugene yesterday,…read moreI started looking up restaurants. I was enticed by the pictures of fresh salads and wood fired pizzas. We ended up getting a few pizzas, a couple different pastas. They were all so flavorful (not salty) the texture of the gnocchi was so soft and absorbed the flavorful sauce. We were all blown away. We used QR to order, and were advised to order in waves. Drinks first. Everything came out promptly, even though the restaurant was pretty full. The last few days we ate at some incredible restaurants. Cold Springs Tavern in Santa Barbara, Nepenthe in Big Sur, then we come to Osteria DOP and all agreed the food here was unmatched. The best. For driving many hours, I liked that the atmosphere was casual, but it still looked modern and nice.

Their food really does live up to the hype. The pizza has a perfect airy, charred crust with just…read morethe right amount of crispy and chewy. The pasta was a nice al dente and had a good coat of sauce. Despite the restaurant being fairly busy, the food came relatively quickly! The restaurant has limited tables, so expect a wait! There are also bar seats and seats that face a wall. There are QR codes at tables to scan and place your order, and the waiters that bring/bus food were super friendly. All and all, Osteria DOP was a great experience! I will be back to try out more items from their menu.

I needed a new wok and decided to try this Asian Grocery to see if I could find a good one. I…read morepicked this one because it was easy to get to off of a freeway. The store front looks new, in a nice area and they have a parking behind the store which is helpful if there is no street parking open. I called the store to see if they carried woks and the person was nice to tell me they did and the price range. When I went up to check out, the lady at the front desk was so nice when I asked her opinion on the wok. It's nice to get another opinion when you can't read what's on the label. But, the company has been in business since 1628 so I'm sure they have the experience to make a good pan. Inside is a bright large store with a good number of aisles of products, fresh produce, frozen foods, cooking items and live seafood. You could, seriously, spend an hour or more looking at all the items. The shelves are clean and the items look good!! The aisles are wide and brightly lit. They had products for Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean and Philippine cooking, as far as I saw. They have shopping carts and cute small ones for kids. I wasn't here for much so took a hand basket. Big mistake. Picking up a sauce here and 7lbs of rice there and my basket was getting heavy. So, went to check out. I felt the prices were good. And, they were kind enough to pack it all in a cardboard box which made it easy to carry out. The items I've tried have been good quality and tasty. I definitely recommend and, even though I just went today, I have a running list of things I forgot and want to get next time.

This place is the place if you're looking for anything Asian-Pocky, Buldak noodles, hot pot…read moresupplies, ice cream, anything red bean/matcha/taro....all of those flavors. I tried the buns and I got good checkout service, but the steamed buns retain a dough-y texture. Not bad, but not my personal fave. The fillings weren't bad. I liked the flavor of the canned bubble tea, but with every canned bubble tea I've had, the bubble part is not the best. This place is close to where I live, and it'll be excellent for getting Buldak Creamy Carbonara!

I would put the local Lane County Saturday Farmers Market against any of them for local in-season fruit, produce, eggs, meats, and baked goods and many other local products. It runs 11 months of the year. I can be found there at opening every Saturday unless we are out of town. Everything sold fresh is local and in season. Prepared food is made from local ingredients, mostly organic. On any given Saturday there are four or six bakeries with very fresh baked goods available with some of the best bread, croissants equal to Paris bakeries, many, many sweet and savory pastries. Many rural farm stands are represented with their complete in-season produce, fruit and vegetables. There are always three or four booths selling foraged mushrooms in season with a great variety of cultivated ones as well. Several vendors raise and sell the best eggs I have ever eaten. If you beat me there, you might get some double yoked ones, but they sell out fast. Meat for the freezer, fresh fish and canned fish, several hot food venders and if you can manage tastes in the morning several local pot distilleries are showing up these days. Everyone is pleasant and helpful and the culture is one of cooperation and helping other venders and customers so that all are successful. Come and check it out. The new pavement makes it easy to move around, stay dry. There are tables for you to eat your hot food. Don't forget to take some flowers home for the vase from the four or five vendors who are there regularly. The large open building houses about a third of the vendors with large open doors, the rest bring their own tents and the outdoor arrangement is easy to change for the day. You come too, but save a little bit for me!

Marche is a pleasant restaurant in downtown Eugene. It was pretty quiet with a nice upscale…read moreatmosphere, but a little hard to find for us, as we don't live in Eugene. Service was very good, but a little on the slow side. It wasn't bad, though, as the vibe of the restaurant is relaxed. We both ordered the Smoked Pork Chop (sweet potato purée, huckleberry jus, roasted brussel sprouts, pecans & bacon). It was cooked nicely and was enjoyable to eat. I would have preferred more of the huckleberry jus and more brussel sprouts, but can't complain about the quality of the food. In short, it was delicious, but could have been even better with just a few enhancements. Price was reasonable when compared to comparable restaurants in Salem and Portland. I'll return again for a different dish.

Well, restaurants such as this are costlier but the proof is in the pudding...so to speak. Very nice ambiance..a bit subdued but it compliments the decor. Next time we're sitting at the counter to watch the chefs create. All-in-all a pleasant evening spent with my bride of 47 yrs.
