Marche is a pleasant restaurant in downtown Eugene. It was pretty quiet with a nice upscale atmosphere, but a little hard to find for us, as we don't live in Eugene. Service was very good, but a little on the slow side. It wasn't bad, though, as the vibe of the restaurant is relaxed. We both ordered the Smoked Pork Chop (sweet potato purée, huckleberry jus, roasted brussel sprouts, pecans & bacon). It was cooked nicely and was enjoyable to eat. I would have preferred more of the huckleberry jus and more brussel sprouts, but can't complain about the quality of the food. In short, it was delicious, but could have been even better with just a few enhancements. Price was reasonable when compared to comparable restaurants in Salem and Portland. I'll return again for a different dish. read more

Once again, magnificent. She: Steak frittes. Excellent cut and flavor. Me: 6 oz tenderloin...flavorful and accompanied by seasonal vegetables. Desert was the peach upside down...also had a scoop of pistachio i.c. w/it (birthday) I want to say that there may be an erroneous thought that this is high priced establishment. Well, restaurants such as this are costlier but the proof is in the pudding...so to speak. Very nice ambiance..a bit subdued but it compliments the decor. We were in town for a college game day and decided to give this establishment a go. Very quick seating and we made it right in time for happy hour which we didn't know was going on. Little happy surprise! It begins at 3 :) Husband and I each ordered one drink and 2 food specials from the happy hour menu. One was the tomato basil mozzarella pizzetta and the second were the fried oysters. The food did take a little bit to come out but I didn't mind as it came out very fresh and you can tell they didn't just throw them together. The pizzetta was small (because it's a pizzetta) and cut into 4 pieces. The first was so good and had that wood fired taste! It was the perfect size for an appetizer for us. As for the oysters, cooked perfectly! I hate it when they're overcooked/dry and these were delightful with a perfect crust. I did take off one star because the server, while pretty nice, was not very warm nor attentive. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated and gives off that French feeling. A cute little restaurant cafe with lots of indoor and outdoor seating, right inside of downtown market off 5th Ave. They have some pretty fairly priced options and their quiche and salads are really good. I enjoyed visiting the marketplace and sitting down and enjoying the place. Though they were quite busy when i went, their wait times after placing an order is pretty good. read more

Marche remains the classiest upscale restaurant in Eugene. With a warm comforting atmosphere and five star cuisine and service it is surprising how reasonably priced the excellent menu is. Whenever we miss Paris we just make reservations at Marche and forgo the hassle of air flight and crowded airports. C'est bien. read more

Ambiance is always great here, but the quality of the food and service are inconsistent, especially for brunch. Expect to spend a very long time to be seated and to receive your food. Some waiters are excellent, and others are inattentive. The host usually seems overwhelmed as this person is expected to do many more jobs other than the usual host duties. Reservations are essential. Going to Marche used to be such a great experience. I hope they will get back to the way they used to be with excellent service and food. read more

Decent food, so so service. The restaurant is cozy and darkly lit, which I like for a date night. We were seated a bit late because our server was late, but she was nice. The gougeres are always delicious. Our food took quite a while to come out, at least 30 minutes after we ordered. The tenderloin I ordered rare came out medium, and by the time I got the refire everyone else had finished their meals. I was not offered any compensation for the misfire or timing issue. The pizzas are perfect personal sizes. The smoked pork chop tasted good but was overly dry. The crème brûlée is delicious. We came in kind of late from traveling so we sat at the bar both bartenders were friendly and gave us some great ideas for dinner dinner. It was in a vegetarian mood so I ordered the portobello mushroom sandwich. I have been really looking forward to Marche being open before 4pm as I often find myself looking forward to an early afternoon break with a beer and fries. They used to have the best, I. My opinion. Note tho "used to"! So, now open for lunch and dinner for the last two weeks I stopped in for the aforementioned fries and beer. The beer was a fine IPA , but the fries were crispy and not at all what my memory held. I was disappointed for sure! Came in for a solo dinner while on a business trip and I was super pleased overall. Food was phenomenal with outstanding service. Prices are generally high but also worth it if you're looking to treat yourself. Starting with the cheese board, we had a selection of cow, sheep, and goat. Along with it an assortment of nuts, apple, honey, crackers, and a solid jam Sole pomme frites was very light fish but paired well with the salty fries and great with a crisp white wine. Dessert (apple tart) was astonishing, with the espresso being a little disappointing but not the worst I've had. I am also a coffee "snob" and I've had very few restaurants with good espresso. Well prepared French meal in a nice setting. Service was excellent and pricing was very reasonable considering the caliber of the food/setting. Good selection of French wines. The bar service was horrific- I sat down at at 2:53 pm and asked if she had a nice Pinot, She stated she one, had but recommended another red. I stayed with the Pinot, She never mentioned in 3 minutes there is a happy hour wine list. The glass of wine i received was maybe 3 oz's, She never refilled my water glass. After 2 sips my glass stayed empty for about ten minutes as was busy talking to customers across from me. I saw more of her backside then front. Bestie and I flew up to Eugene to do a weekend of all things Candace loves :) Wine, dining, dessert, running, nature, covered bridges of Cottage Grove beauty- that sort of stuff and I was looking for the best places to have dinner. Marche kept coming up and was very close to our hotel so he made a rezzie. We certainly have a favorite French restaurant, in Paris but I wasn't holding Marche to their standards. I had their Brown Butter cocktail - can't keep me away from my Bourbon for long ;) We shared the roasted beets and each had a warm bowl of their squash soup. Both were ok in my opinion. I ordered the Parisian Gnocchi and wasn't impressed at all with it. If you're thinking about ordering it, I'd say skip! I probably should have taken my chances on the fried chicken sando from the bar menu. The gnocchi had absolutely zero flavor. My friend ordered the steak frites and the tastiest item I ate at dinner were some of his frites, which were perfectly done. Since we were here celebrating my birthday, they offered a dessert of our choice. We had a birthday cake waiting but the Smore dessert looked so yummy and IT WAS. I swapped the chocolate ice cream for the honey ice cream since I'm not a big chocolate fan and it paired so wonderfully. The place was lovely, but I'd order a bit different on a return visit. Cocktails seem to be good, bar menu items may be better than regular menu items, dessert was solid and their dessert wines (gosh I need to get back to Porto soon!) and cocktails look amazing. It had been years since we last dined at the original, smaller 5th St Marche and we had good memories. But this was a "new" restaurant for us - a fully renovated Marche - so I ordered a simple Margherita Pizzetta - not a big culinary challenge. The other two diners received their fried oysters and linguine plates early. When my pizza arrived, I looked from it to our waiter in disbelief that he brought this out. A third of the crust was a crispy carbon black as was the underside. I explained this was not edible and should have never left the kitchen. He apologized and in time I had a replacement perfectly baked pizza. On exiting the restaurant, I asked the hostess who seated us to please pass along to the house manager that my burned pizzetta should never have been presented to a customer. Something is very wrong with the training of the waitstaff and kitchen if plating up a burned order is something worth attempting. Within a few steps of heading out the door, someone from management (no name tag) caught up with me to offer a sincere apology. Good effort (the replacement pizza was fine) but one rarely gets a second chance to make a first impression. And serving obviously burned food is not good restaurant practice. read more

Marche no is celebrating 25 years here in Eugene. They are a staple food is still excellent. Service is excellent and it's a lovely ambience. I had the soup of the day which was potato leek with a garnish of bacon as well as the salmon dinner for dessert. we each had something different. Everything was great, this is a romantic quiet restaurant with really good food. We did not try the alcohol, but the menu was varied and well curated definitely worth a visit. read more

A restaurant that claims to serve French cuisine walks a fine line and Marche always delivers. Food is presented beautifully and tastes heavenly, wine list is outstanding. We didn't have reservations so had to wait for 10ish minutes to get a table but that is to be expected on a weekend. Service was prompt and our waitress answered all of our questions with enthusiasm. We mentioned our anniversary to the hostess and our server put a candle in our dessert! A nice touch. One minor drawback is the noise level, but that's not enough to keep us away. read more

I'm trying to avoid red light foods, but the French baguettes were too tempting to pass up. I thought about getting the beef, but I really don't like the way it's prepared either all the sauce reduction. I just like my steak plain and simple. I ordered the steamed mussels as an entree. Wow, it was so good and filling. It came with its own bread, but I used the baguettes to dip in the sauce. The salad was by far very mid. Nothing special at all. The sorbet was good, but the cookie was better. For Thinsulin fans, there's plenty of green light options, but don't be detailed with the red light baguettes. read more

One of the worst restaurant experiences we have encountered in all of our travels. We arrived at 8:40pm for a quick order before closing, and there was a complete lack of professional service, the food took an hour to arrive, and the meal was undercooked. We sent things back for further cooking and stressed that the main part of the dish be cooked to completion in lieu of remaking the whole dish. It was salmon, and they remade the whole dish the same way - undercooked. It was also done with a lot of patronizing attitude from the manager and waitstaff on hand.
