I can't believe I've never posted a review of my absolute favorite restaurant! I come here a minimum once weekly, but typically 2-3 times. When I walk in I'm greeted like family because they see me so much lol. The first time I came here I was alone, and was like a fish out of water. It was during lunch time so it wasn't busy at all. One of the ladies were super kind and patient. She helped me make a sauce, and choose what to order; as well as providing a sheet with how long to cook everything. Now that I'm a regular, my go-to selection is... Meats: chicken, fish filet (my FAVORITE!!), ribeye roll Vegetables: (Varies) Napa cabbage, broccoli, spinach, enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts (SO GOOD!) I also get flat noodles and potatoes to eat towards the end or else it'll make you full. I've finally been able to convince my friends and family to go on different occasions and they love it. They all joke that I should be a sponsor for So Hot because it's all I talk about, and I've gotten so many people to go try it. Lol Overall, I LOVE this restaurant. I'm definitely in love with this place! I'm not sure what it is but my group and I will usually spend about 2 or so hours here. I love the vibe and the food. It's basically an all you can eat buffet but catered to your table. The options are amazing, I love the cheese tofu and the thinly sliced chicken. There's like a dessert that's only offered during dinner that just melts in your mouth. I love everything about this place except we'll their Bubble tea. It's alright but not really something I'd come here for. The staff usually walking around making sure that the broth don't go down too much. There is a girl there that oh my goodness she is just so nice and very helpful all the time. I'm always happy to have her there when I go. I'd give this a 5 star review but there was time when i first I went there that it wasn't the most pleasant because of one of the staff members. Obviously he wasn't going to be the reason I didn't comeback when the food was so good. I haven't seen him in awhile so I'm thankful I can enjoy my food without that person there. They have a wide variety of broths to choose from with varying flavors and spice levels (they even have a cajun broth that's so good!). Wow, we would definitely recommend this hot pot spot to any who's never had hot pot before (or anyone in general)! We decided to eat here for a date night, and we haven't had hot pot before. There was a 40-60min wait, but you can sign up for an alert when your table it ready. The waiter asked if we have had hot pot before, and after saying we hadn't he was so kind and showed us how the tablets and ordering worked, then showed us to our table. (There's also the robot waiter - so cute!) We got the dual pot to try two flavors: cajun and medium spicy. The cajun was a little more subtle, but the spicy flavor stole the show! Once you order what you'd like on the tablet, it's sent to the kitchen to then be brought out directly to the table. We would recommend only getting 2-3 items at a time (excess food is charged to the payment of left over). The sauce bar is amazing! It offered so many ways to add some extra flavor to the meat. After finishing three different types of beef, hand-pulled noodles, napa cabbage and bokchoy we ordered both desserts to try. The milk mini buns were AMAZING and the waitress explained what the desserts were made out of! This restaurant knows how to seamlessly serve hotpot, from the iPads on the tables for easy ordering to the stackable trays the food comes on, to the self-serve dipping sauce station. This was my first time seeing this, but they actually have a laminated pamphlet that teach you how to make different sauces from the ingredients they have there! genius. All hot pot places should have this. In terms of the variety, they certainly meet the requirement. They have most hot pot offerings. The weird thing was that you had to pay per broth base, even though it's AYCE hotpot. Lastly, service was great. It's delicious. It's the better option to get hotpot. They have a little robot that guides you to your seat. After being seated, the server asks you if it's your first time. Since it was, he explained that it's all you can eat (with a few exceptions). My husband and I got the Chicken broth. The server explained that the chicken broth had some pork bone in it. The pork taste was very present, but that was on me. I didn't think it was going to be that noticeable, so I think we will go with the veggie one next time or do half chicken for my husband and half veggie for me. Updating review for those gluten free/celiac. Make sure you request a separate pot. Unless the rest of your table is GF you should have your own pot. The meats and veggies are gluten free. The rice noodles are also gluten free. They have a rice dessert that is supposed to be gf, i did not try it due to cross contamination. This is my absolute favorite hot pot place in the state. It is right next to H Mart so there is some traffic between that and other Asian restaurant nearby in the area. The wait wasn't long, the cute robot leads you to your table and I think they had some plexiglass and seating was every other table for covid. We got different broths. It's all you can eat so we ordered every red meat. They also have white rice and lettuce wraps and a sauce bar with a lot to pick from. At the bar was also toppings like scallions etc. Definitely try this out if you like cooking your own food in hot broth with veggies and then dipping into savory and spicy sauces. There was a long wait for our table on a Sunday night, but they texted us when our table was ready. They explained everything to us since we were new and even made my sauce for me, the tasty Cantonese style sauce that's on the sweet side. We got the mushroom and tomato broths. Both were very good. We got beef, lamb, noodles, dumplings, and veggies. It was fun to cook them in the broths at our table. If we wanted more of anything it was easy to order more of something from the iPad at our table. We came hungry since it is All You Can Eat. We definitely left full and happy. This place is not worth coming if you have part of more than 6. My group came as a party of 13 and tried to order most of our plates at the beginning so we would not have to make multiple small orders. What the staff here didn't tell us at all is that the cap for orders on an item is 7. If you try to order more than 7 of an item, they will not tell you that they can't bring out that amount, they just won't bring anything out for your table at all. I mean, bringing out nothing at all to a table that obviously wanted that item for the hot pot makes no sense. The iPad allows you to order more than 7 items, but they should obviously change that considering the situation I'm describing. For the first hour of the two hour dining limit, my party did not receive some of our orders seen in the photos. The lack of communication of an order cap of 7 orders ruined my group's dining experience as we had to keep asking where the food. After enough complaints, they finally explained to us that they won't bring anything out if it's higher than 7. This is a piece of information they should tell any party larger than 6 before they start ordering. The total for a group of 13 comes out to be $450, with each person paying $35. There was an automatic gratuity fee for parties larger than 6, and for my group's experience, I was unhappy about paying for that since the service was terrible. I'm so glad we have hot pot restaurants in the triangle because it's one of my favorite meals! This one typically will have a wait on the weekends. If you go in and they tell you an hour, please know that typically it's like 30-45 minutes. I think they like to over estimate waits just in case. So you can pick up to three broths just remember that on top of the ayce price they will charge you for each broth so you could be paying another 5-7$ extra for broth which makes no sense to me but whatever. You order on an iPad and the items will come out to you, their customer service isn't always the best and they always seem to forget an item or two but it's fine bc you can always reorder more food. It was our first time at So Hot and we had a wonderful experience! We were a party of 4 (+ 1 toddler) and arrived right when the restaurant opened for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant is decent sized but the tables filled up very quickly. Once people seated it got a bit tight to move around. We had a baby wagon that was quite large and the restaurant was very kind to accommodate. You order from an ipad, which was super easy because there were also pictures. The selection and quality of the food were great, and we got what we ordered very quickly. There are also a few dessert options, like the sweet buns. You make your own sauce at the sauce bar. The was a bit of a queue at the sauce bar as it was a single file line but no complaints because you can also get sesame balls and fried rice crackers! I think we ordered too much to start because the soup base struggled to boil with all the food we put in initially. Our waiter was awesome, and was very patient with our toddler who kept throwing his straw away. He checked in on us constantly to make sure we got what we needed. I liked how you can place your order on a tablet and they bring it out. I wasn't a fan of how the food was brought out and just placed in your space with nothing said (like literally plates kept being put right in front of our eating space). We ordered rice and a few other items that never made it to our table, but we were able to get our other items. I think the owner or manager was walking around checking in, sweet as can be! Dessert is also included in the price, and there was a brown sugar rice cake and a sweet bun type of dessert. Overall, So Hot was ok for me, I felt some flavors were lacking, service could have been better, and it can be pricey for someone who's never been and doesn't have a big appetite. Don't get me wrong. So hot was great. Like this place is packed every weekend. Then pandemic hits and this restaurant probably handles it in the worst way possibly could among all the hot pot places. At first, they do the take out hot pot which is not remotely worth it. Then dine in opens and all the utensils are plastic. Sauces are limited. Drinks are non existent. Have they improved since then? Yes. But not by a whole lot. When I go unlimited hotpot, I am going for all out. I want my meat. I want my actual utensil. I want my drinks. Please consider bringing back how things were. Honestly, I visit Szechuan Mansion Hotpot in Cary regularly, I have dined in and purchased take out. For a Few dollars less, you get to take your left over veggies and noodles home!! The concept is a cook your own broth and add ingredients. You choose what broth, meat, noodles and vegetables you want to prepare. Pretty cool experience depending on where you go. I was told this was buffet, but that is incorrect. They bring all portions out to you. Very different from Szechuan Mansion Hotpot. It's illegal to re-serve food that has been served to a customer. So why throw all that food away ? The veggie broth was ok. I've had better . Fried rice was not good at all. And to be honest, the location didn't appear clean. It was a Thursday evening and it was dead, 3 tables occupied. Try Szechuan Mansion Hotpot, much better bang for your buck, better broth. And whatever you don't eat, you take home. For $30-40 per person, that's a deal. Pho with added ingredients can cost an average of $15 per person anywhere in the triangle. To spend $36 dollars on a similar concept and not take leftovers home is a complete waste. read more
