After a consultation with the manager, the lovely receptionist told me that they would not honor the gift certificate $100. The gift certificate did not have an expiration date on it, but evidently they have a policy that it cannot be used after five years. Especially in light of the closures during the pandemic. I do not think this was right. I choose to no longer patronize this business and will be getting my massages elsewhere from now on.

Evidently, he went into the back office and pulled up my review of Serenity. Next thing I know, the owner comes out surrounded by all her waitresses. She began to berate me for my last review 10 months ago. Says my review was damaging to her business and was impacting her waitresses, all of whom were mothers (not sure why that was relevant). She also said that if I didn't like her place, I should get out and not come back. How unprofessional! If her business is getting bad reviews, maybe there is a real fundamental reason. Maybe it is her temper and tendency to ask paying customers to leave and not come back. The owner is a bigger problem than a bad review. Funny enough, without the owner incident, I probably would have given Serenity a better rating than I had previously. After all, gift certificate notwithstanding, I spent $75.00 there for a coffee pot and dry teas. Still, all in all, I could not in good conscience recommend this business to anyone. But when I arrived and greeted my therapist, I was stopped at the front desk and told I couldn't go back until "this was taken care of." I was made to stand there while they charged me for both the missed session and the one I hadn't even had yet. It was awkward, cold, and humiliating. Despite all my consistency and support, I was treated like a flight risk. I was made to feel so uncomfortable that I walked out and didn't even stay for the massage I had just paid for. When I reached out to management to explain how upsetting the experience was, the response I received was brief and dismissive. I've since canceled two months of future appointments and requested that my card be removed from their system. Roxanne is a truly wonderful massage therapist, and this review is in no way a reflection of her work. But the way this situation was handled by management was deeply disappointing. There's a lot to work on in how they treat loyal clients and communicate policies. I would have preferred to leave a better review - but this experience left me no choice.
