The food is awesome but the place is always dirty. The front door looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years! I hated to touch it to open the door! The ledge by the window was filled with dirt and dead bugs. Won't eat inside that filthy place again. read more

Greasy noodles and fairly flavorless food. Not sure how a curry can be subtle but it was; once you got past the grease both the noodles and tofu were water-logged which did not help given the lack of flavor over all. read more

This is a very straightforward Asian fusion. Pick your protein, pick your base, pick your veggies, and pick your sauce. It is pretty nice (new decor) and very clean. My udon was excellent. Hope's nice was good. Ordering required a little patience, but the attendants are nice and appear to be enjoying their jobs. read more

First time ordering from here. Was disappointed but will try them again. I like the concept and really enjoy Asian food. My biggest complaint was that everything was way overcooked. I ordered udon with chicken and all the veggies with a yellow curry sauce. Udon noodles had very little chew to them, broccoli was mushy and the carrots just fell apart. The yellow curry was flavorful but very oily. My wife got the regular noodles with tofu and vegetables with the Thai chili sauce. Tofu was really good but again vegetables were overcooked. Thai Chili sauce was barely noticeable and no real spice. Nothing felt lively, fresh or with clean vibrant flavors. I am hoping next visit will be better. read more

All the goodness of chicken, rice, and veggies in a bowl cooked just right with a splash of sauce to make it scrumptious you so know I'm all for it! Coming here I knew what I wanted and what I ordered and what I received were exactly that as I ordered a bowl with fried rice, chicken, and assorted veggies with some teriyaki sauce to make it just way it should be scrumptious! One thing I've always liked about coming here is there's a ton of different combinations you can come up with like you can make each bowl totally different with a different sauce or rice / noodle or protein or adding different veggies or by making a mix of the different combinations the possibilities are endless. The last time I made a KBBQ teriyaki mix it came out a bit sweet a bit spicy and totally yummy this was just what was good on the given day especially when I added some of that yummy yum sauce to make it more sweet than spicy. Besides the bowls I've also ordered some gyoza and egg rolls both of which were just what they should be and totally went with the bowls of yummy goodness! Overall coming here is always a fun treat as you can come up with what's good in every way with that said I'm sure I'll be back again soon! read more

They don't offer anything gluten-free. They don't even have rice noodles. They have something called udon rice noodles, but udon is typically made with wheat. I would've asked the staff, but the cashier had already claimed the soba was gluten-free, and (luckily) I know that only very high quality soba sold in Japan is made with pure buckwheat flour, without wheat. Also, the staff member working the cashier was also flipping food on the grill, while taking orders, and not washing his hands in between. It was dirty, with little or no ventilation. read more

My family and I went here after a trip to Cedar Point. The food was really good, and the portions were more than enough. They have lots of choices, great sauces, and vegetarian options available. Everyone who worked there was super nice, and the establishment was very clean and had plenty of seating. I think this would also be a great take out option as well. It's not terrible. I ordered a chicken bowl with traditional noodles, with extra veggies. I paid $2.50 for extra veggies and definitely did not get extra. I guess I should have checked when I picked up. The noodles were a bit mushy and greasy, but the flavor was good. The Haru Maki is extremely mushy on the inside, don't order that!! Overall, it was fine.. not sure I would go back... I feel like I didn't get what I paid for. read more

Wonderful, clean, tasty experience. Simple menu, affordable, fast. I love the thick Japanese udon noodles. The bowls are big so it fills you up. Owners are nice and added extra heat to our bowls. So I was really disappointed when I ate here. I'm a big fan of soba, udon, ramen and the alike but this place does not live up to its name. I guess I'm just extra picky because the rest of my group loves this place. I ordered the shrimp udon with the sriracha sauce on the side. Of course the staff couldn't follow the directions and my meal was drenched in sauce. I'm pretty sure it was because the girl at the register could have cared less about her job. It annoys me because we came in on lunch with a large group of coworkers and spent a large amount of money. Anyways, for my review I also wanted to comment on the noodles... first of all, the bowl was like 80% soba. The noodles that made of the majority of my bowl were not mixed in with the sriracha drenched veggies so it was bland once I got to it; then, then when I did, it was like super soggy and over cooked. The noodles themselves are really thin and not close to what soba should be. I've had the opportunity to eat here for lunch since my visit and I declined. Overall, I won't be back and I do not recommend. This place is like mall food, unless that's what you're looking for, try a different restaurant. read more

Was In Sandusky for work all week and stopped in here for lunch on the way back home. The only mistake I made was not coming here on day ONE and every day in between. Amazing friendly staff, and hands down the BEST meal I've had in Sandusky. You would be doing yourself a huge disservice by not trying this place. 11/10 recommend! read more

Alright, This is literally MY FAVORITE take home food place. I live in Michigan, and going to sandusky last year for Halloweekends at Cedar Point, my boyfriend and I chose Soba for dinner and it was the best decision we could have ever made. The food is fresh made with simple and very tasty, their yum-yum sauce tastes almost better than the store or a hibachi place, and the portion is HUGE for the price. The only thing that I don't like, is that there's only one location. In Sandusky, Ohio. I love this place so much, I even contemplated making the 2 1/2 hour drive to Soba from home as a day trip. Please consider opening more locations, possibly in Michigan! Last time i was in the area, I bought 3 bowls in one day. read more

When SOBA first opened, it was fantastic. We've eaten there several times since. Last night was a big disappointment. The staff is typically very friendly and helpful and last night was no different. So I would give them a 4 star rating just for staff. The cleanliness of the facility is starting to go downhill. Lots of trash on the floors and they seem to have a water leak from someone in the kitchen that leaks into the hallway near the bathrooms. The last three times we've been there, they've had towels on the floor to keep the water contained. Totally understand what they're trying to do but it's been like that for at least a couple of months and it just looks a bit trashy. The food was a huge disappointment. For some reason it seemed extra greasy with lots of oil in the bottom of the bowl. My wife and I both ended up feeling a bit queasy after we finished. The chicken was just ok. Maybe they changed suppliers for the chicken? I wouldn't tell people to run from here as we did really like it before. Maybe we'll try it again sometime down the road. read more

This is like the Japanese restaurant equivalent of Chipotle. Everything is fresh and fully customizable. You pick your protein, noodle/rice, veggies and sauce. The servings are large and delicious. I like that the kitchen is open so you can see what is going on while they make your food. Employees are friendly and efficient. The atmosphere and music are contemporary. read more

I'm glad I found this place! The main offering is a make your own bowl. You choose the type of protein and it gets cooked up on the grill with the vegetables you choose. Choose noodles or rice and your sauce. The Korean bbq sauce was actually spicy enough for my taste! I usually find the spicy is not spicy enough. The portion was huge. I'm going with 4 stars as a combination of 5 stars for the staff and 3 stars for the food. On my first visit, we came in as a group of 8 about 30 mins before they closed. You couldn't tell for a second that anyone was inconvenienced or angry about inheriting a big group at the end of the night. (they had even started to clean the floors and put up the chairs). Our food was excellent and the staff was warm and friendly. In fact, in subsequent visits, I've enjoyed watching the cooks because they seem to have such fun doing their jobs. They are always laughing or singing or joking. There seems to be a real camaraderie among them and it is nice to see. Relative to the food, my bowls have had decreasing amounts of vegetables with each passing visit. And I agree with the reviewers who have mentioned the grease. I have found, however, that you can ask them to use less oil. (although I will say that out of 2 requests for less oil, I think they only got it correct once). Still, I won't give up on them yet. I like a made-while-you-wait fairly healthy fast food option. And the cooks are a while-you-wait source of entertainment in my opinion. read more
