Super Solid location and I would definitely stop by here again whenever in Morristown. Around here…read morewe try and hold on to Summertime as loooong as possible and while we can't always head down the Jersey Shore all the time it's pretty cool to know that Surf's Always Up at your local Playa Bowls. Shake Hands with Superfoods: one of My favorite items here is their "Ocean Ave Green Bowl" which is based with Kale, Pineapple, Coconut Milk, Topped with Granola, Banana, and Honey. It's delicious and not too sweet but just right plus it brings lasting energy to help keep me going throughout my busy day. I believe I may have shared this thought with you before but any surf town on the planet would be happy to have a Playa Bowls nearby, but here in Jersey we're proud to say they're All Ours. Come And Get Your Munch On!!

This location was a little crazy when I stopped in around 3pm on a weekday. There were definitely…read moresome kids from the local school hanging out singing loudly along with the music. It was a bit obnoxious but they were just having fun and most likely waiting to get picked up. I ordered just a dolce smoothie as I was hungry but needed something before going home for dinner. The dolce smoothie there I had always been my go to. This one I felt like the only peanut butter was used to decorate the inside of the cup and way too banana flavored. Still good but their prices definitely have gone up for smoothies. Biggest issue is always finding parking in Morristown. Street parking is near impossible to find and the closest parking garage is a bit of a walk over.

Shaka Kitchen offers tasty, made-to-order Polynesian-inspired cuisine - protein and veggie bowls,…read morepoke bowls, acai bowls, tacos, quesadillas, and smoothies - with plenty of options for pescatarians, vegetarians, and vegans - crafted with fresh ingredients in a casual ambiance by friendly, knowledgeable staff. The experience reminds me of many of the local, fast-casual restaurants we've enjoyed while visiting the Hawaiian islands - although I didn't see an option to have SPAM with any of the dishes. Place your order at the counter, then have a seat at a high-top table while your food is prepared to order and served in plastic 'to go' containers with disposable eco-friendly forks. The taste and quality of the food does come at a price, as the prices are slightly higher than most of the other fast-casual options in the area, but it's worth it to me (as it should be to you). I had the Loco Moco bowl ($20), comprised of kalua pulled pork, brown rice (substituted for the white rice it should come with), cabbage and carrot slaw, scallions, crispy onions, and topped with a fried egg and kickin' lime sauce, which was VERY tasty. My dining companion had the Shaka Bowl with grilled chicken ($20), comprised of zucchini noodles, carrots, cucumber, scallions, cabbage, pickled onions, mango, and sweet chili sauce, which she really enjoyed. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP: Shaka Kitchen doesn't have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking off South Street. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday.
