I've tried a couple of other storage places over the years, and SoCal is far and away the best. Their rates are good, especially compared to a major, national chain that I have used before. (Maybe PS also stands for Pricey Spaces?) The facility is very clean and well-maintained. Their use of local street names for the corridors makes it easy to find your way around, unlike other storage places where everything blends together. Everyone I have spoken with at SoCal Self Storage has been exceptionally friendly and helpful; they treat you like they really value you as a customer. I've had storages over the years because I frequently work out of town. They require you to pay for insurance. Well, one winter the rain came thru a skylight in the roof. They were NO HELP. I made out the reports, took pictures and sent them. Zoyla was no help. They turned down my insurance and my oak rocking chair I was given when I had my baby was ruined. As well as, clothes and a few electronic items. They did fix the skylight, but then I found out that they knew the skylight needed to be fixed. That's the way to keep up the property. The last time I rented a storage, there was a new lady there taking care of the office. She overcharged me ay least three times. When I tried contacting Zoyla, I got no response. When I did finally get a response from her, I explained the situation. She said she would check into it. Not surprised I never got a response. Will not use again. read more

I currently have a unit here. This facility is very clean and secure. There is ample parking out front and they even have a truck to rent for moving if needed. The employees here are amazing, very helpful, communicative and friendly. I feel very safe + secure at this facility while coming and going as it's located in a great community. I frequent my unit often and it's always so quiet and when I see the occasional person in the halls, I've always been greeted with kindness. Rates are fair for this very bright and airy, clean and secure facility. I've actually had multiple size units and no matter which size, they have all fit my needs at that time, I love the roll up doors on the unit, very smooth and the use of an elevator and rolling carts are there if needed. The access hours are perfect, I'd rather not be somewhere the hours are to broad. I highly recommend So Cal Self storage for your storage needs. read more

Hi, I rent a storage space here and I have a few concerns about this business. First, upon move-in I was not offered free use of a truck. When I contacted customer service about it via their website I didn't receive a response. When I requested a temperature controlled space they said their ac was broken but they still charged me for temp control. Also, when I asked to see the size of the storage space I was shown a slightly larger unit than what they actually gave me when I paid. Lastly, when I punch in my code to open the back gate theres a German Shepard that barks nonstop and aggressively through a gate. I think they belong to the business next door. It's a very unpleasant experience when this happens. read more

My trailer has been stored here a number of years. Several years ago, it and several other vehicles in the gated area were broken into. My trailer was damaged and $10000 worth of property stolen. The security cameras and system were sub standard. I am not sure if the local police department was notified at the time of the break-in. The people staffing the building were great. The management of SoCal storage were not interested in having a conversation about improving security. So, they decided to increase my rent. Be aware, that if there is a problem, this company will not stand behind you. read more

I am a Real Estate Broker who manages several apartment buildings in the South Bay Area. I needed to store an outgoing tenants personal belongings until they could be claimed. I also needed to get the property empty and looking great for showings ASAP. I hadn't planned how exactly it needed to happen but after phoning several different storage unit companies in the Torrance area I decided to go with SO CAL self storage on Miracopa St. The girl who answered the phone was named Zoyla. She was very helpful on the phone & went out of her way to explain the different size storage units and what amount of furniture would fit in each. I kept forgetting her name and was embarrassed so I finally asked if I could call her "Z" for short. She laughed and said it was fine then continued to help me. "Z"explained the different discounts for each of the size units and also helped me with the "free" rental truck, which really was free as long as I returned it by 5:30pm and replaced the gas I used. After a long day packing up someone else's belongings and transporting them for safe keeping, it was very pleasant to see "Z" waiting to help show us the easiest way to unload the huge furniture and get it locked up for safe keeping. She had several other customers come in to ask her questions or get help and she managed to get all of our questions answered and solved any problems as needed. I will surely use this location for all of my business storage needs and highly recommend it to my friends for personal storage. P.s. I read a few negative reviews and cannot understand what caused these people to say such negative & personally insulting things about this business and the manager. She was always available, in person and on the phone. The storage units are secure, clean, bright inside and have controlled secure access. Plus, you can add insurance coverage if your homeowners Insurance does not cover your belongings while in storage. The convenience of The loaner truck and the sparkling clean building are extra sprinkles on the top! read more

Zoyla is amazing! I was about to get roped into the Public Storage scam for $1 for the first month and Zoyla took the time to explain how your services work in great detail. I went back into Public Storage and asked what the total was and when the first payment for next month would be due. I was shocked to find out the price was much higher than what they said initially over the phone. I then immediately called Zoyla and she gave me an amazing deal half the price of What Public Storage was offer and the quality of the So Cal Self Storage facility is ten times better than Public Storage. It's like comparing a can of Spam to a filet mignon, there is just no comparison. I am so pleased with my savings and my new friend Zoyla! Simple process to rent a unit. I never had any trouble accessing the facility during open hours. Felt secure enough to where I didn't have to worry about my stuff being stolen etc. There was some mis-communication about terminating my rental unit use when I no longer needed it but once I called customer service they were more than willing to help me sort it out! read more

I would always use this storage facility anytime I am here in the South Bay, and I have used a few shady ones by accident in the past, but Cathie and her team here at SoCal storage and that is Cathie, Travis and Breeana put the feeling of family back in to corporate in the way they dealt with me, they are wonderful and the facility is so clean and well cared for as well. I recently returned from Maui and had to pick up my stuff for a move to Florida and they could not have been more helpful and accommodating and friendly on my departure as they were on my arrival. We have been renting at SoCal Self Storage since September of 2015, when we had to close our beloved bookstore and put the fixtures in storage. Zoyla has been with us since the beginning, and has helped make the experience far less painful than we expected it to be. She--and the rest of the crew--have always been helpful and understanding...not to mention unerringly pleasant. Additionally, the facilities are beautifully maintained, both clean and well-kept. I rent two different units at this facility concurrently. The managers here are very good with sales and getting you in here; they are not so good at maintaining the same level of service after that. They can be immature and unprofessional for no apparent reason when they are on the phone or it is otherwise inconvenient for them to serve you. Also, you should know the office is closed often during business hours when staff is unavailable for a varietyof reasons. You can access the facility without them, so hopefully you won't need their service. read more

WARNING!!!! BEWARE!!!! DO NOT STORE YOUR THINGS HERE!!!! NO SECURITY!!!! OPEN ACCESS TO ALL UNITS!!!! Pictures posted say a thousand words explaining why I rated so poorly. Place your things here at your own risk and hope they don't get stolen is all I can say. You are better off placing them in your front yard. Pros: Place looked nice Cons: No manager No security Security is a negative and without security, what is the point of keeping it here. Waste of money. Made reservation online a week in advance. Came during open hours and sign on door said they were out until 2:00pm. I did not receive a phone call saying they would be out. Nor does it say on the website that you need to call ahead of time to see if they are in the office. Tried to call before I got there and couldn't get a hold of the manager, but the website says they are open. The operator (located elsewhere) even said they were open as that is what is stated on the website. Called SoCal company again about this (located elsewhere) and they said they couldn't do anything about it or get a hold of the manager. Keep in mind that I rented a UHAUL for x amount of time and needed to return it within 2 hours. I was there around 12pm and saw that sign saying they were taking a 2 hour lunch break. I waited past 2pm and they had still not arrived. During this time that I waited, I noticed that the door to ALL of the storage units were open along with the gate to enter with your car. In addition, the back door (only supposed to be accessible to the manager) was also open which contained: bolt cutters, the security system, and all the supplies they charge you for. This means anyone could enter and STEAL your things! There was bolt cutters in the back room and someone could easily muck with the security system to erase all proof. SERIOUSLY?! To top it all off, some people came by and backed up their truck right in front of the door and another came by with bolt cutters. They claimed they were not stealing, but that they lost their key to their unit and tried to contact the manager but couldn't get a hold of them previously and again today, the manager was still not around. So because they couldn't get a hold of the manager to break the lock, they brought their own bolt cutters to do it and then started loading up their truck with furniture and whatever else they had. I didn't stay to witness it all as it was past 2 and I had already waited there for over an hour waiting for the manager. Go to any other storage facility and they will tell you it is against their policy for you to cut your own lock because doing so would make it easy for anyone to steal, but apparently not here. The company will tell you that the manager works 70hrs/week so deserves a lunch break, which by all means, take a lunch break, but you should notify your customers and change the office hours that you are open. Also, apparently she isn't always around since no one can get a hold of her, so they are paying her to not even be there and manage the storage facility. This place is a joke and totally unsafe. And what kind of company can't get a hold of their own manager, but only have the office number? It is not a good sign when even they can't contact or manage their own manager. I never received a call back from the manager after leaving a message too saying that I was waiting. Bad service. You shouldn't trust to leave your personal things with someone that you can't get a hold of during open hours or during emergencies. Go to other facilities where there are people onsite 24/7. It's sad because had the manager been there, I probably would have moved into the storage facility as it appeared to be clean, but after seeing how bad the security is, I am glad I didn't. read more

Conflicted about this place. On one hand, this place seems to be a simple, clean storage facility - one that deserves a much higher rating than I gave it, and more in line with other reviews. The reason I'm giving them such a low rating is because of the atttitude of one of the employees regarding their truck rental. The odometer read the same on the dahsboard when we returned the truck as when we recieved the vehicle - a figure which was written down and signed off on by another employee. We only went the equivalent of a city block and only rented a truck briefly to move a couple pieces of big furniture. Of course, when we come back another employee checks the car, claims we went about 5 miles further then we actually did, dismisses the signed paper and goes to a computer which has a different odometer figure somehow typed in, and gave us attitude claiming we didn't put enough gas back in despite the fuel line being at the same place (margin of error, fraction of a hair at most). Really?! The shenanigans only stopped when we had her call the original elderly employee who rented us the truck - who of course said everything was fine. The one who gave us attitude then claimed she was "letting you off the hook". Again, really?! That's how you've been trained to talk to customers?! BTW, I have extensive video walkthrough of the vehicle I shot prior to rental (a habit born of bad car rental experiences before) so I can be 100% certain that she was flat out being bogus - so I actually was having a bit of an issue containing myself from laughing at how incredulous she was being. Just because of this rude employee, I've contacted my bank to prevent them from charging my card for bogus issues that she may conjure up at some other point. Anyways, other than this incidence, the facility is nice, clean and seems very secure. The original elderly employee with the short hair was a delight - try to deal with her if you can. Just... if you must, try to find a different method of transporting big items here. read more

I LOVE THIS STORAGE!!! I have had such a pleasant experience with sweet Zoyla. She has been SO helpful and SO understanding that I will never use another storage place. I am a teacher and I have always needed a storage unit to hold things when I change schools or different grades and during summer. I have used a myriad of storage facilities but when I came to this one I realized that THIS IS THE PLACE! Zoyla is so pleasant every time I walk in the door and I consider her a friend now. Torrance Self Storage is not your average storage facility. They go above and beyond to make your storage experience the easiest as possible. The management team is beyond wonderful, and their customer service is beyond your typical standard's, and they work very hard to maintain a great relationship with their tenants. One of the things I like best about Torrance Self Storage is that I always see the same people working there year after year. At my former place, the employees seemed to change from month to month.
