I came to LDI in West Covina in June 12, 2015 with severe adult acne, brown spots and acne scars. The transformation of my skin is unbelievable after 5 treatments. Being a fair skin African American numerous dermatologist would not recommend any type of laser. I am very thankful for Dr. Rispler's expertise with multiple laser treatments and African American skin. The price is minimal in comparison to the amount of money that I spent in the past on creams, lotions and useless other microdermabrasions, peels, etc. The only regret that I have is not take a before picture without makeup to post for everyone to see the best results ever, I can now go out of the house with no makeup and get compliments on my skin from family, friends and co-workers. Why does LDI keep changing their name/address. Because their lousy reviews go away! Last time I looked they had at least 100 bad reviews!!!! Be prepared to get a $10,000 - $18,000 quote from a sleezy salesman for your laser treatments. When you say you can't afford the doctor and sleezy salesman will go into the hall and work on an approach to either hand you a credit application or negotiate. Then does this work any better then other laser treatments in the $2000-$3000 range...in my opinion NO when you say NO I am not interested they will escort you out the back door, you no longer can exit thru the main lobby. After I had daughter I started breaking out & had tried so many creams that I THOUGHT weren't good enough. I kept hearing about LDI on the radio and saw billboards all over L.A. and Orange County and thought of it as my last resort. I went in for a consultation with my mom and my daughter and explained my whole situation about how I started breaking out to the "Salesman" and he was VERY persuasive. He quoted me $9000 with 6 months of treatment and if I started treatment that day, I would receive some sort of discount plus an extra treatment. So I did. The staff was nice but some of them seemed snooty. Dr. Rispler DEFINITELY pissed me off and annoyed me because he is RUDE and very UNPROFESSIONAL! He would walk into the room and explain to his "Assistants" (as if I was a mannequin or nonexistent) the type of treatment I'd need and say only like 2 words to me then leave! Then he just shoots you in the face if more breakouts start to occur and it's SO true how they sell you so many other products in their office without telling you that from the start. My last visit is what pissed me off the most! After buying like 9 different products from their office already, Dr. Rispler told his assistant to tell me I needed to buy another cream or something and I said I didnt bring enough money to buy another product so the assistant told Dr. Rispler, he came back into the room and said, "So do you not go to the movies? You don't have that kind of money?" I was extremely offended by his leprechaun looking self and never returned. Sadly I fell for their scams. In 2006 I started my treatments here. I believe I had something like 8 treatments for half price since my mom was not willing to pay whatever it is the sales man said. I also hated how the staff always tried to push me into buying more products, I mean $80 for a month supply of antibiotics. Also Dr. Rispler is a jerk. He doesn't care about his patients. The first time I met him he has a needle in his hand and he started to pump antibiotics into my face without giving me enough time to prepare for a needle in my face. Every other time he was just too busy to really care what was going on with me since his company already had my money. It did help my skin, but only for about a year or so. Not worth the money. Now I use products from Sephora - Mary Lou from the Costa Mesa shop has helped me tremendously. I'm on the road to perfect skin without the high cost. Avoid this place at all costs. The doctor there is so rude! I got a brush off and he acted like I was wasting his time. He said nothing could help me, that there was no such thing as the laser that I told him about. Whatever, I went to a different place in Westwood, where they did have the laser, and am so happy with my results. Oh yeah, plus the parking place ripped me off. They had me waiting in the waiting room for over an hour, then wouldn't validate. And the poor parking attendant tried to be helpful, but wasn't. After such a rude experience, a waste of my time waiting around, and then being charged $18 to park somewhere when I'd rather be anyplace else. Totally bad experience. THE +'s: a nice big lobby. quick and efficient service by the staff. THE -'s: dr. rispler is just not a very good doctor -- which negates the entire purpose of coming here in the first place. first i was asked the usual medical history questions by one of the staff. that happens at other docs i go to but usually the staff asking the questions is well-versed in the procedure. i didn't get one of those staff. then i had to wait almost 20 minutes before dr. rispler showed up. when he did, he was quite brusque and gave a diagnosis without asking for details. i had to ask my questions loudly as he was leaving in order to get any answers. and the answers were, like his 5 second diagnosis, short and dismissive. the result of his hastiness was that he prescribed medication that was either way too strong for me or else i was just severely allergic to it. had to take a day off from work because i sprouted rashes all over and my face became swollen. SUM: last i checked, it's the doctor's responsibility to diagnose and prescribe with due diligence. that's why we go to doctors and don't try to fix things ourselves! grrr. even though i actually got to see him on my first (and now last) appointment unlike other yelpers, it was definitely not a good experience. read more

I feel really bad for leaving a negative review but I want to make sure I advise people so they can save their money and false hope. So I went here a few years back when I was 18 trying to help with my acne and scarring. I went in with my mom and spoke to the fancy guy with the suite and they just feed of every insecurity you have dealing with acne. They had me take off my makeup and hold and mirror and asked what would you change about yourself. They are smart they make you look at yourself and remind you how much you want to change and they make sure you remember how much you hate looking in the mirror. Anyone with acne know looking and having no makeup is torture and just reminds you . So I cried and my poor mom( single mom) cried to and asked how can you help her it hurts me to see her always so insecure and hurting over this. So they offer packages and blah blah with treatments that would help. My acne wasn't horrible and my scarring either but it feels like it is to me u know. So they said 8 to 12 treatments should do it and we can offer this . Prices were wow and my mom is a single mom so we only got 4 treatments. Sooo I got the four and all his rx face washing pads and creams . Lets me just say noo difference I mean I didn't except perfection but I thought I would see a lil change and nope nothing. Heed the reviews on this Rispler quack. He's as bad as everyone says. I came here well over 10 years ago, and it looks as though he is still scamming people. I had acne at the time, and they didn't do anything for me other than sell me on all of their awful, proprietary products. The one time it did clear up, it was only momentary and at the cost of excessively drying out my skin. They used this as an opportunity to sell me on laser treatment to treat the acne scars. They kept pushing and pushing laser treatment even though I expressed opposition because I felt it was too soon. A short while later, sure enough, the acne came back. Had I paid the thousands for the laser treatment, it would have been in vain, but they just cared about making more money. In time the scars faded, anyway, as my acne was never that bad to begin with. This Rispler guy is as rude as everyone says he is, and he and this place need to be shut down. read more

Since I didn't spend more, Dr Rispler told me that his nurse would be the one treating me. EXCUSE ME. If I'm going to spend over 10k, the board certified dermatologist better be treating me! He told me that my face looks like a toyota and he can make it into a porsche. He also mentioned how it looks like a war broke out on my face. He is the worst dermatologist someone can ever go too. Went in today for a free consultation at the Covina location, got quoted and started the treatment for my acne and acne scarring the same day. So far i do not have any complaints. The staff were very friendly and the nurse explained everything in great detail. Dr. Rispler came in and evaluated my face for the treatment that needed to be done for today, I did not find him rude at all. I like how the office gives out samples of the medications, topical creams and face washes instead of purchasing the full size and finding out later it did not react as well with your skin condition. Seeing this "doctor" was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Dr. Rispler is rude, full of himself, unprofessional, rushed to get out of there, AND DID NOT HELP WITH ANYTHING. He is just an example of what good, wide advertisement can get you. After over $8,000 out of pocket charges, he did not help my skin in any way. In fact, he caused a major health scare. He prescribed a higher dosage of an anti-biotic for my skin. I was 150 pounds, he gave me the dosage for a 200+ pound person. After taking the medicine for 5 months, I looked on the website of "Solodyn", it says that even they do not know the side effects of use after 12 weeks. My eyelashes all thinned and fell off, the hair on my scalp (my beautiful long hair) thinned and began falling, my skin was so red and dry that I could not even open my mouth to talk (and this remained for months), i had serious liver problems, and now suffer with digesting almost everything I eat. During my many appointments with Dr. Rispler, I told him of the symptoms I was experiencing, he just always said, "Its got to get worse, before it gets better. Trust me, this medicine is not something you should be worried out. Keep taking it." Even after I stopped seeing the bastard, his office kept calling me with messages like "Dr. Rispler really believes you should continue with the process so you can see maximal results with your skin. You don't want to waste all the progress." Go to hell! They were obviously hungry for more money. If my education did not take so much of my time, I would take this bastard to court. Horrible service. Dr. Rispler was a jerk and treated us like crap because we weren't sure we could afford the $6000 treatment. They do a lot of radio advertising because they are not going to get any word of mouth business. The staff is equally horrible with service. Dr. Rispler was their for the consultation when we signed up and we never saw him again till after the final treatment. All the treatments were performed by teenage assistants. Well I too have been receiving private messages since late Feb 2013 from the good "Doctor". The initial one was similar to the message to Eunice K and the last one stated that I signed an agreement telling me that there were no guarantees going into the treatments. Yes I did sign a bunch of paperwork and shame on me for not reading the 500 lines of small print disclaimer. Most people don't read that stuff and trust the salesperson. He (salesman) should not have lied to me telling me everything would be clear after all the treatments were done. He (salesman) also should not have told me that everything was covered with the price that I paid. That's fraud in my book. Mr. Rispler also states that there are tons of great reviews in the "Filtered" section? Most of those are negative as well and the few good ones including Amber B. are obviously fake. Wow, for real? Usually if there is something redeeming about a place, I am the one to find it. (This is my first one star review). But my experience here left me with a feeling of disbelief at how this place is still running. I drove from Walnut (20 minutes away) to go for a consultation. I was excited to finally get my skin tags removed. I had been quoted $4-500 at another institute in Orange, CA but could not go then because I didn't have time as I was switching jobs and moving out of the OC. I had also been saving up for laser hair removal and scar treatment. I took off an hour from work to drive here because my mom made me an appointment which was really nice of her. When I got there, there was a lady at the front desk who was very kind and another lady who took me to the room who was also nice. The one star is for them. After the lady left she said someone would be in to see me. A tall Caucasian man in a suit walks in with slicked back hair. He asked me what I wanted and I told him I was interested in removing my skin tags and improving the texture of my skin overall. Within 1 minute of sitting down, before even explaining anything to me in detail other than my skin tags "have roots" and that would be very difficult to get rid of, he says it will cost me between $9,000 (for surface removal) to 12,500 (for a proper job) and take me 6-8 treatments to get the tags removed?! First off who quotes prices things right off the bat?! Secondly seriously, $12,000? I told him that other places had quoted me $4-500 and that his price seemed really high. Quote for quote he replied, "well maybe you are better off going there then." I politely said thank you and walked out while saying that was the strangest appointment I've ever been to. I really wanted to say something nastier but it was two days after Christmas. Came back home and saw these reviews on yelp - looks pretty spot on. The West Covina the service and facility is horrible. The interior offices are like a free clinic. They were dirty. Even the elevator was ridiculous. They set you up with a male sales person per se. He was rude and did not want to spend any time answering questions. All he wanted to do was talk about the money part. I asked him what is the laser of the surgery he is recommending. He could not answer the question. All he said is we have different things. Things? Since I was asking too many questions about the basics, he said the girl at the front desk can answer all of them. A consultation won't hurt. So I went. I must have looked indecisive because they brought in a "salesman"-at the time I thought he was a doctor so I went with it. I came in to Dr. Rispler's office for my adult acne that I suffer from, The staff was very friendly made me feel welcome as well as Dr. Rispler. I have been looking for a long time for a dermatologist that I can trust to help me. I have tried every product possible and nothing seem to work, I was ready to give up and just face that this acne is not going away. Since starting my treatments With LDI I have seen major improvement in my skin. I am no longer breaking out and my acne scars are less visible. I wish I could give this rating a NEGATIVE 5 stars. I went to the free "consultation" yesterday at the Irvine office. There was no consulting though, it was basically a very high pressured sales pitched. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THIS SCAM. The salesman started off with typical salesmen tactics - he was overly complimentary and told me for one reason or another I was THE perfect candidate for laser. He barely looked at my skin - I could have had make up on and it wouldn't have mattered. Then he scribbled the number 4 on a piece of paper and circled it and said 'this is what you want for the BEST skin results - totally free from acne and acne scars.' Then he scribbled a 3 and circled it and said 'this is what you want for almost the best results.' Then he scribbled more circles and dash lines indicating each treatment comes with some doctors appointments and lasers. I asked how many appointments came with each session and he couldn't give an answer. And then he wrote down the price - and I am guessing this changes depending on who he is talking to and how much he thinks he can get - but for me the 4 sessions were $9500, the 3 sessions were $8500, and then one session at a time was $3500. And when I saw the prices, my eyes were immediately stung by tears - I was NOT expecting the price. I started asking a lot of questions about how they determine what lasers to use and what results are to be expected, do they have any paperwork describing these sessions, and how do they determine when a treatment session is complete - well I guess I asked one too many questions because he became very defensive and told me not to question how they do their job! He then told me that I could only get these "special" prices if I signed up RIGHT NOW and started treatment right away. There was no way I was going to pay $9500 for a #4 scribbled on a piece of paper - so I told him I had to think about it. And he said well when I come in next time the price wont be the same, and I asked how much will it increase $1000 or $2000?? Again he couldn't give me a straight answer, just another " Ill tell you what I'm gonna do...." So I stupidly scheduled another appointment in two weeks so I could 'think about it' as that seemed to be the easiest way for me to get out of the sales pitch. I will not be going back to that Dr again. I am 100% certain they are counting on the patients being in an already discouraged and sensitive state (having dealt with acne for a good portion of their lives) - and are willing to try anything. I went to the LA location. Have never had laser or anything done before at almost 60 years of age. Dr. Rispler was kind, has a great smile and answered all of my questions. Checked in often during the procedure. Val and Gina, the Nurses, were great and experienced. They explained everything really well. The sales guy on the first appt. was not pushy at all. Will report back later re: results on how my skin and brown spots are doing...but so far, am really happy with these folks. read more

I visited their office for free consultation and I was quoted $7500 for 3 face treatments for my wrinkles and brown spots They gave me a brochure about the machine they used and I left..I researched the machine and in the process, I found a place called Canyon Medical Center that was using the same equipment and I got the same treatment for half of the price . After 3 sessions they told me that was all they could do!!! Dark spots never changed, if anything I've gotten more spots and redness in my skin from their treatment. 3 sessions for $5000 now you know why they need to be paid in full upfront! It breaks my heart to see how some poor innocent women can get fool by this guy and his salesmen . A friend and I went to the Laser & Dermatology Institute of California on 08/24/15. They are INCREDIBLY rude! We both wanted to consult with issues on our neck. We have different issues, yet the price quoted is $7,500 each! Gloves were never put on and we were never examined. I was not even given an estimate in writing. Their attitude is "You need us more than we need you." I don't think so!!! Many years ago, when I was in college economics class I learned the following: The PAYING Customer is the King or Queen. I wish I read these reviews before I wasted my time going to LDI. First of all, the office was really ghetto looking. Then, while I was in the waiting room, I asked to look at some before and after pictures and the staff looked at me like I was crazy. They didn't have any. FIRST RED FLAG. I was led into a little sales office and the "nurse" made me take all of my make up off. I told her nicely & in a kind of joking manner that I wish they told me not to wear make-up when I made the appointment as I was going straight to work afterwards. She got very confrontational and made an extremely rude comment implying that I was an idiot. I was shocked. Then their salesman (not Dr. Rispler as the website promises) came in to give me my "consultation". He basically told me there were 3 different options that I could choose from ranging from approximately $6,500 to $10,000. He was totally unable to describe the difference between the 3 options. He was extremely vague about the whole thing. Also, I specifically asked him if they try to sell their patients certain products such as creams/lotions and he said no, they don't do that there which I see from the other posts that that was a big lie! He also told me I was not allowed to write any of the numbers down because they weren't firm numbers, just estimations and that they would not give me any finance information or firm numbers until I signed the paperwork to start the treatment right then and there. REALLY??? Who would go into something like that without knowing anything about the procedure or costs? I told him that I was going to go home and think about it. He told me not to bother and said if I ever came back, the price would be much higher. His whole attitude changed and he became very rude. He said that I've had enough time to think about it and if I wasn't going to do it right then and there then I was never going to do it. Then he stood up and opened up door basically kicking me out of the office without saying good bye or anything. Yikes! What a scam this place is!
