Our server was attentive and around when we needed something but never interrupting, and his recommendations ended up being some of our favourite dishes. The anchovy olives were a standout, super crispy, packed with flavour, and not overly fishy at all (great if you're a bit hesitant about anchovies). The mushroom toast was rich, savoury, and full of umami. Just a heads up not to let it sit too long since it softens the bread. The tuna tartare was fresh and well-balanced. Not my personal favourite served on toast, but still really enjoyable overall. The paella was excellent, perfectly cooked shrimp, tclams, and crispy pork belly chicharrón that added the best salty, fatty crunch. The roasted cabbage completely surprised me and was easily one of the best veggie dishes I've had in a while. I could have eaten a whole plate of it. We wrapped things up with churros and shared a pitcher of sangria. For three people, it came out to about $68 each before tip, which felt very fair for how much we ordered. As well, the manchego was so tiny it was like a shaving . The bone marrow amounted to about three teaspoons of marrow. We were so sad and dissatisfied. The patatas bravas was okay. Unfortunately we do not have a reason to return.

We had begun our night at Bar Gobo and just was not feeling it, so we decided to come to La Boqueria instead for dinner. We were able to get a table right away with a quick phone call, and they saved us a table upon our arrival! We mainly came here for wine and the delicious Pintxos, and between the two of us we shared a bottle of the Blasted Church Hatfields Fuse, and a platter of 5 Pintxos (great date meal!). Due to the current circumstances they seemed to be understaffed so the food was taking longer than usual so they offered us a complimentary dish of Pulpo a la Gallega - perfectly cooked giant octopus with potato, mayo and paprika - if I knew how delicious it was I would have definitely ordered it as an appy! The Pintxos are to die for - perfect for sharing. Our favourite was probably the negitoro, and the ultimate sardine. The platter of 5 is a perfect portion for 2 people and a great way to try a selection of Pintxos and a delicious explosion of variety of flavors. This place is a must-visit for seafood lovers, and such a unique offering comparing to the many tapas options in the city. My only feedback is I would have probably liked a more extensive list of red wine; maybe more full bodied reds? The cocktail list also looks amazing as well but sharing a bottle of wine is such a great date idea that we decided to leave the cocktails for our next visit. If you are looking for an unique romantic date night spot, I would highly recommend La Boqueria because it will be sure to delight and surprise your date with a great meal, ambiance, and great service. Truly a hidden gem in Vancouver for seafood and wine lovers. They are only open for dinner service for now so be sure to make a reservation.

Sure Mediterranean diet is considered to be a "healthy" diet etc. However the ingredients if not sourced from organic farms etc,, it would render any "healthy" attributes meaningless. FYI, peppers and tomatoes are well documented to contain high amounts of pesticides. If they are not duly removed, they would do more harm than good. Having said that, some are more sensitive to inflammation than others I am more than happy to re-review when your restaurant can stake the organic ingredients or non-pesticide claim. Overall I felt the dishes were solid but some such as the calamari could have had cooked longer to show some browning on the outside of the rings as the outside of the calamari looked anemic. We were fortunate that our party of four was able to be seated comfortably in the booth next to the front window which provided a view of the street. Four stars for today's experience and five stars with the Host and server who was assigned to our table.

All the dishes were expensive for the portions, though very delicious. The paella was a decent portion for me and I had to pack about half home. Though my friends were not full after so maybe I just have a small appetite. Street parking available on the side streets. If you are lucky, you might get some free spots.

The tease of the fried quail egg was just over the top. We particular loved the rice sausage as we got a hit of fragrant rice as well. Sobrasada & Queso Valdeon was an unique and one of a kind experience. Super intense! The smoky spices of the pate really reinforced the underlying complex flavour profile of the blue cheese. This is perfect with a glass of wine. These crispy fried croquetas containing bechamel sauce and either fresh sweet prawns, mushrooms, or ham, are quite addictive. Not as rich as we thought and the filling was like fried milk donuts, so had a very contrasting but pleasant texture. Last but not least. The escalivada con garbanzos with anchovies, roasted garlic, peppers and onions. Got to get something healthy right? This was such a comfort dish, remind us of summer get-togethers with relatives. Sweet garlic and gently soft peppers and onions, savoury umami from anchovies (not pungent at all) really went well to elevate the chickpeas. The nutty sweetness from the liberal use of olive oil tied everything together. We would love to try a few more of their creations once covid is over as tapas are best to be shared with friends with tons of wines.

Expensive and worth it for a splurge. I'd like to try some of the other more modestly priced offerings. I wish they offered phone ordering, they only seem to do ordering via DoorDash and Uber Eats and I hate giving those things any cut of the profits.

This is definitely more of a 'have some wine and chat!' place rather than a food place. They have an entire backside of their menu dedicated to drinks. The prices are placed relatively high for relatively small portions - and the food isn't always served okay, and some were extremely delicious. Pizzas are definitely personal pizzas - so you're forewarned! Also, the music in this place is quite deafeningly loud. I could barely hear the person next to me unless I talked into their ears! I went with a giant party for a birthday, and while the service was almost perfect considering how big of a group we were - there were times where we were all left stranded with no water refills (they could have left us with water jugs, but I'm guessing they wanted us to get drinks instead?). It wasn't like we were downing the water either, we were asking for them to bring us jugs of water so it would be more convenient for both parties - which was largely left unanswered. As for food - definitely not very pescetarian or vegetarian-friendly. Or gluten-free! They had a flatbread under tapas that was titled 'gluten-free' but then underneath it in brackets it wrote (but not celiac friendly!). So, therefore, the bread must not have been gluten-free considering those with celiac are allergic to it?? Very confusing. There were only a couple of dishes and pizzas that didn't have any meat on it, and while most places would allow you to substitute things - it was written at the bottom of the menu that they would be 'politely declined'. We ordered the Pulpo a la Parilla (the octopus dish!), Patas Bravas (baked potatoes basically) and four pizzas (Criminale, Margherita, Tuna Tartare, Funghi). The octopus came out extremely charred. However, the pieces that weren't burnt to pieces tasted delicious! A friend likened it to taste that chicken, and even cautioned me not to eat it because he had thought it was chicken! The potatoes were really good as well, and the tomato aioli was really good! It had a kick to it that I found very addicting. Pizzas are irregularly-shaped, so I wouldn't recommend sharing with a lot of people. The pizza cutter that comes with it also doesn't cut very well, so make sure you use your knife! The four pizzas that came out, the Tuna Tartare was the only one that stood out as it was basically tuna sashimi on top of a bed of salad on top of the pizza. when eating that - don't lift it like a regular pizza or all the ingredients slide off! The other ones weren't that impressive, and the Criminale is basically a fancier Hawaiian pizza. read more

Once again. Per Se social corner let's me down. There has virtually been an issue every time I've attempted to go there or support the business. And now today, once again, I go to the restaurant side- a manager says hello, but seems as though he's in a panic (But he should not let that show if he is a manager or a professional). I ask him for a table for one. He answers that there is only bar service for me- automatically because I'm a single person I don't deserve a table- and this is right after I say I needed a table to do work. There is empty tables everywhere. He said there is not enough servers. Well clearly how will one customer affect that? And how is it different than sitting at the bar? A bartender could come to a table for a second! I worked in this industry for many years. He also told me he has reservations coming in. But guaranteed he didn't have enough reservations with the amount of tables. And if there was enough servers for those reservations, how come there wasnt enough for me? total discrimination. He was an asshole and unprofesssional. Tall and in a navy blue suit, brown hair. The owner should know. And, the worst part- This is the second time this has happened. And I've had horrible service at cafe as well. I then walked over to the Vancouver classic and legendary, Glowbal. They were smoking busy- way busier than Social corner- they were gracious, and gave me an amazing two top table on the patio For my lunch. And within 5 minutes- three people have already come by to check on me and offer an appetizer on them to try out. Do better Per Se Social corner, and actually get managers working that actually 'care' about the patrons and don't stereotype , or make one more important than the other. Also- the first time I was ever there, food was ice cold. Literally all four plates for myself and my friend. Never again. read more

"I recently had an amazing dinner date at Per Se Social Corner in downtown Vancouver, and it was a night to remember. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the truffle fries, which were some of the freshest and crispiest I have ever had. We also ordered the Seafood Paella, which was delicious and cooked to perfection. To complement our meal, my date ordered the cocktail, Grounds of Divorce, and we were blown away by how good it was! It was a perfect blend of flavors, and we both agreed it was a 10/10. Our server was also incredibly attentive, making sure our drinks were always topped up and our meal was going smoothly. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely as well, with a great vibe and friendly staff. Overall, we had an amazing experience at Per Se Social Corner and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in downtown Vancouver. Already been here about four times since the soft-opening. Service was very pleasant. Had some great conversations with our waitress. Atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. High ceilings and open layout make it seem like a chic place to hangout/grab some drinks. Best pizza I've had out-of-Italy; thin, not too oily on the bottom, and many great toppings (avocado, bulgogi beef, goat cheese, potatoes, bacon, etc.); you can pretty much make your own pizza. I had the Arancini Shrimp Risotto and Goat Cheese Arugula salad for appetizers and-wow. Perfect mixture of sauces and taste, I will definitely be back for more. Strongly recommend those two dishes, especially to be shared between two. All in all, I would be there a lot more if only I lived closer! read more

Really excited to have this in the neighbourhood! It could not have been easy to take over the old Subeez space, but their redesign is classy and suits the space well. They have only been open for just over 2 weeks, and I specifically wanted to give a 5-star rating for great service. We came in as a group of 15 without a reservation, and they expertly accommodated us happily. We ordered the crab and lobster ravioli and a pizza. The ravioli was good but overpriced at over $40 for just three pieces. The pizza, on the other hand, was excellent and highly recommended. We also tried the carpaccio and paella, both of which were great. Since it's an Italian restaurant, I plan to try the pizza next time for a proper rating. This is hands down my favourite place to eat a burger. Every time I come here, the quality is consistently amazing--from the first bite to the last. We all agreed the food was great and is worth returning for. The only negative was that it was starting to rain towards the end of the night but they didn't pull the clear rain shield down on our side only.

When I arrived, I was told that I hadn't booked an outdoor table and that I would have to wait if I wanted to be seated with my dog. What made the situation especially frustrating was that there were several tables available. There were three four-person tables occupied by only two people each, and they had literally just sat down and still had their menus. I asked if it would be possible to separate one of the tables, but the host immediately said no because they were "eating dinner." They clearly hadn't started their meal yet. She even mentioned that the tables would normally be separated, but that it was "too late" to do it now. Unfortunately, I was in a rush and couldn't wait, so I had to leave without dining. What disappointed me most wasn't just the seating issue, but the host's attitude. Her facial expressions and tone were dismissive and made me feel like I was being unreasonable for simply asking a question. Overall, it was a really disappointing and disrespectful experience. Good customer service is about trying to find solutions, not making guests feel unwelcome. Based on this experience, I won't be returning and won't be recommending Tavola to my friends.

We shared a pizza and the Rigatoni Boscaiola. The pizza crust had great leopard-spotting and a chewy, blistered edge, with the tomato sauce tasting bright and fresh rather than sugary. The rigatoni was cooked properly al dente, catching plenty of that savory, creamy mushroom-and-sausage sauce. It's thoroughly satisfying, though like many rich pasta dishes, the sauce leans on the heavier, saltier side toward the last few bites. We finished with a slice of their house tiramisu, which was airy, nicely soaked with espresso, and not overly sweet. The Service Lively, attentive, and down-to-earth. The staff handled the dinner rush smoothly, we were greeted warmly, menus were dropped right away, and wine recommendations were casual and honest. Even with a queue forming near the door, we never felt aggressively pushed out, though the pacing of the plates is definitely brisk. The Ambiance Snug, energetic, and very much a classic West End neighborhood joint. It's a tight room with warm lighting, rustic wood accents, and a bustling open kitchen/bar area that fills the space with good cooking aromas. Because tables are packed closely together, the noise level climbs quickly once the room fills up, so it feels more vibrant and buzz-y than quiet and intimate.

The service was great and food was excellent overall - just one minor ding. Overall 4 stars. 1. Absolutely share the Octopus Mosaic, a carpaccio-preparation of paper-thin octopus fused together like chain mail armor, and bursting with flavor from the limoncello dressing. High protein and low carb too (5 stars) 2. Romaine salad was fresh and had light dressing with a quail egg snuck underneath. (4 stars) 3. No kid's menu here but they do offer half-sized entree portions with modifications. We got the rigatoni with butter parmesan and our son eventually ate half of it. He was probably still full from lunch. 4. The lobster-prosciutto stuffed chicken breast was skin-on and cooked perfectly. Very hearty dish, with veggies and gnocchi to add some carbs for balance. 5. Wife got the Branzino filet in Veloute sauce. Fish was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The minor ding is that a few hours after dinner my wife was getting super thirsty. It was either dehydration or maybe there was more sodium than expected. Vietnamese fish sauce has a similar effect on her. Anyways, it was an excellent dish when we ate it. Also, they had this awesome beet puree on the side which our son loved. He eventually ate some of my chicken when slathered with the beet puree. Kids and their quirky appetites...

For apps, we got the mortadella focaccia, oxtail raviolis and polenta fries. Food came out quickly and was super flavorful. I got the Cjarsons for dinner and LOVED it. I'm not an apricot person but the flavors and sweetness were so great. What a fun summer dish. Service was always checking in and super friendly. Definitely a highlight of my trip to Vancouver and would absolutely recommend. I hope to come back again should I find myself in the area.

My wife hosted her bridesmaid proposal brunch in Carlino's private Alberni Room on July 4th, 2026…read more Twelve guests, two weeks of detailed planning emails, and a final bill of $1,061.16 including a 20 percent automatic gratuity. Breakfast came at approximately 11:00 AM, the salad course at approximately 12:00 PM, and the mains at approximately 12:40 PM. A morning meant to end at 1:00 PM ran to 2:00 PM. In between, nobody checked on the room. Her mother, a bridesmaid and her brother each had to leave the table and go find a server, roughly every ten minutes, across all three courses. There was no water service. The only pitcher was the one left in the room during setup at 10:00 AM, shared between two tables for the entire event, never refilled. Her father and brother, seated at a connected table Carlino arranged, were never offered the mains at all. Staff assumed they did not want to eat and never asked. Three requests later, the fix was to take food off the platters already on the main table. Nobody asked about allergies or dietary restrictions at any point. One guest has a dairy intolerance and received her replacement main at approximately 1:15 to 1:30 PM, while everyone else was eating dessert. We raised it with the assistant general manager before leaving, and were told to email the events manager. Carlino spent three weeks acknowledging in writing that several of these things went wrong, asked what would be a meaningful resolution, and then on July 31st refused every single option: no gift card, no refund of the automatic gratuity, no credit toward a future visit, no gesture of any kind. The space is lovely and the food was good when it arrived. But if you are trusting Carlino with an occasion that only happens once, understand what the recovery looks like when it goes wrong.

The description stated it was drizzled with honey but it tasted more like olive oil? It was just ok. In spite of the mediocre food, the service was stellar. When we mentioned we did not care for the beet starter, someone (I assume the manager) came up to us and addressed our concerns about it and continued to come back to check up on us to make sure we were happy with the food (I didn't say anything about the fish because I already felt bad mentioning we were unhappy about the first dish). The server at the bar was awesome as was the gentleman who was their "grappa expert". Bar seating was ok. Ambiance is lovely, energetic and loud. I would maybe return and give this place another chance because the service was so good. Perhaps we didn't order the right things.

I sat inside and the felt like I was in a cozy Italian cafe. Light music, warm lighting, immaculate vibes. The service is incredible. The two servers on tonight made sure that our glass of water was full throughout the meal. Now the food. THE FOOD. Started off with the sourdough bread and an order of meatballs. The sourdough was hot and soft but held its shape when dipping into olive oil and vinegar or when using to scoop sauce off a plate. The meatballs were tender and fresh. There was a bit of a wait between the appetizers and entrees (this is NOT a detriment, just bear with me), and when we got our pastas, they were the freshest I've had in a long time. The sign in front of the restaurant advertised fresh pasta and did NOT disappoint. We ordered the pesto dish with chicken and the gnocchi with chicken and both dishes were INCREDIBLE!! Absolutely blew us away. Finished off the meal with a lemoncello shot and it went down so smooth, I wouldn't have realized it had alcohol in it if I didn't know that beforehand. Gastown lured us in, but when we return, it will be for Robba Da Matti.

While the description sounded incredible, the dish didn't quite live up to our expectations. It was enjoyable, but we still preferred the bolognese from our previous visit and cacio e pepe from this visit, both of which showcased the pasta more effectively. We also ordered the gnocchi, which was well prepared and satisfying to certain extent, but it didn't surpass our favorite one from San Francisco. The pesto sauce was just okay. If we order the gnocchi again, we'd likely try it with a tomato-based sauce instead. Overall Value - 4/5 This restaurant offers excellent value, particularly for pasta lovers. The quality of the house-made pasta alone makes it worth a visit, and there are still several dishes on the menu we're eager to try. We're already looking forward to returning and exploring more of what the kitchen has to offer.

I recently came back with a big group. I got the presto lunch deal. The deal came with a soup of the day and a salad. I got the wild mushroom risotto. They served it with lots of risotto to my shocking surprise. It had truffle mushrooms and that was my favorite. The beef tenderloin was good. The soup of the day was a vegetable soup. I really like the Caesar salad. The ingredients used were fresh. I really like the bread that came with our meal. The decor looked almost the same as I remembered 15 years ago. Service was great here.
