I come here almost every week to see my favourite MUA and hairstylist: ATLAS You must see ATLAS. I've been coming here for years now, and I refuse to see anyone else. She gets everything done right and she is also so very thoughtful. I also have been taking my daughter here since she was four years old & she LOVES coming here to see Ms. ATLAS. I trust her for all things beauty: event makeup, haircuts, styling, you name it. She's the best, and I am VERY picky! The salon has always been so warm and inviting as well. Special day tomorrow so I treated myself to a blow dry! I have extensions which require extra time to get dry - so why was I in and out of the salons in less than 30 minutes (that's including a wash)? My extensions were damp, my hair wasn't properly styled even when I expressed concerns on wetness and not being happy with the style. My "tight" curls were supposed to last for tomorrow but it's been less than an hour and they're almost all gone already. Paying an additional amount because I have extensions makes sense because it requires more work - but there was almost zero brushing. Just running a hot tool over dam The girl next to me who started getting her washed even before I walked in was halfway through her service when I was being sent out. So $75+tip to have to come home to DRY my own hair and I'll have to style it again. Great way to waste almost $100. read more

Atlas is awful lolz. If you want any blonde or highlights done stay away from her. She took like 7 hours and still sent me home with a botched head of hair. When she was finally done playing with my hair she got to the register and said "I went ahead and took off your conditioning treatment" ... after not giving me what I asked for at all? You're the best Management finally gave me a full refund and referred me to their sister salon in Costa Mesa, their hairdresser there even said it was terrible. This location used to be great with Gabe and the old Fatima but it's gone so downhill. There were already a number of bad reviews about her but I naively did not listen to them. ONE STAR - DO NOT GO HERE This was one of the worst salon experiences I've ever had, and it was entirely due to the Irvine location. They completely ruined my blowout--my hair looked awful and had to be redone at a different location because it was that bad. The only reason my hair was salvageable is because the Costa Mesa location fixed it with a different stylist. On top of that, I accidentally left a hair clip at the Irvine salon. I was told it was being kept at the front for me. When I returned to pick it up, the manager aggressively yelled at me, talked over me, and kept repeating that it wasn't there and there was "nothing she could do." She was hostile, rude, and clearly had no business managing customers. After all that screaming and disrespect, she suddenly found the clip. Not once did she apologize for yelling at me, accusing me, or wasting my time. Zero accountability. Zero professionalism. Between destroying my hair and the manager's abusive behavior, this location is an absolute disaster. If you value your hair or basic human decency, do not go to this salon. read more

This was my first time to a Social Dry Lounge and I have heard great things from friends at other locations like CDM. I was attending my best friend's wedding and decided last second to get my hair styled. I did not have an appt but the front desk girl said she could squeeze me in. I provided a photo of the "hair inspiration" and was excited-- I saw other customers walk out with beautiful blowouts. I got a strong sense that my stylist is NOT trained with hair (she mentioned makeup is her passion). While washing my hair, water kept pouring into my ears & splashing everywhere. I had to ask her a couple times to please be careful. She placed my hair in large curlers but in odd directions, not matching the direction/style of the photo provided. I kept my mouth shut and put trust in her process. After releasing the curlers which added awkward volume to my hair, she took a hot curling wand and started to focus on individual clumps. Her technique was very amateur as if I handed my 12 year old niece to give me curls. She burned my scalp twice, with me shouting "Ouch!" each time. I should have asked her to stop-- but I had no time to return to my hotel and fix it myself, because I had a makeup appt next elsewhere. When she conveyed she was done, I was extremely disappointed!!! I felt like it was a bad joke, costing me $60 on this pathetic styling with no defined shape. Within 15-20 minutes after leaving the salon, my hair fell flat and I took the attached pic. Sadly, I had to brush my hair straight in the car headed to the wedding and I will NEVER go to this salon unless I know the hairstylist by reputation and will NEVER do a walk-in. read more

They have done good blow outs for me in the past, but the management is not customer friendly. I had a service done and the price was not communicated to me ahead of time and did not match what I was quoted over the phone, which ended up to be triple what the most salons charge. I paid it but then tried to contact management to see if they could come up with a resolution, and they were were less than professional. For any kind of circumstances that may arrive management is not helpful. read more

She "washed" my hair twice. First wash she literally put shampoo on my hair like conditioner and then rinsed it out. Second "wash" she again maybe rubbed the soap in a total of 4 times, rinsed and was done. I paid for an extra conditioner, that took all of 5 seconds. I have two rows of extensions... 24 inch extensions. I was in and out of your salon in 43 minutes. I do this every week back home and at minimum they spend 1hr 15min on it. I had one of the worst blowout experiences here yesterday. From the very beginning, things went downhill. At the shampoo bowl, instead of clipping the towel securely like most salons do, it was just draped around my neck. My arms and back ended up completely soaked because water was constantly sprayed all over me, the towel and even the chair were soaked, and I had to ask for a new towel myself instead of being offered one. The water temperature was another issue. First, it was freezing cold. When I asked for warm water, it was then turned up so hot it scorched my scalp. A stylist should check the temperature before putting it directly on a client's head. I also requested purple shampoo to help with brassiness, something most blow-dry bars include without hesitation. Instead, I was told it was a $10 "upgrade" (which isn't listed anywhere on their menu). On top of that, she only shampooed once (instead of the usual two shampoos and conditioner most salons provide) and just left me sitting with purple shampoo in my hair for two minutes without any massage or attention. When it came time to blow-dry and style, I was left waiting while my stylist walked away to help someone else without saying anything for nearly 10 minutes. When she finally curled my hair, there were pieces left straight until I asked her to fix them. She then tried to brush out the curls and loaded my hair with so much hairspray that it felt crunchy and stiff. Despite all that, my curls fell out as soon as I got in the car. For a service that's supposed to leave you feeling pampered and polished, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. Between the poor shampoo service, getting soaked, lack of professionalism, extra charges for basic requests, and a style that didn't last at all, I definitely would not return. I ended up paying $77 with tip for a blow out to get completely soaked. Not worth it at all for the experience and unprofessionalism! read more

I have been a member at Irvine and recently had surgery and did not realize you need to give a two weeks notice to pause my membership due to my surgery. The day I called they indicated that the manager was the only one that can pause the membership and to send an email. I sent the email and they still charged my card. When I called and said due to my loyalty to please reverse the charge until I can come back in. I have asked numerous times to remove the card they charged and they have not. She refused and said"go ahead and dispute the charge". No kindness, understanding or compassion. Horrible customer service and they have now lost a customer. read more

I came in on time for a blow dry and style and had to wait close to 40 minutes and even though I explained in detail the simple soft wave style I wanted , I walked out nothing remotely close to what I had asked !I just waisted my time & $68 later I had to go home and wash my hair and style it myself! I phoned the Social Dry Lounge Irvine on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 10:15 a.m. to inquire about the B3 Demi-Permanent Conditioner Treatment + Blowout for $130.00. Having never been to this salon, nor previously had this treatment, I had some question's pertaining to the treatment. I actually live across the street from the Lounge and was wanting to have the treatment done ASAP, as a walk-in, for a special event that evening, but when I attempted to ask the receptionist some very basic question's she became seemingly agitated and said she would have a technician call me. However, no one returned my call. At 10:52 a.m. I tried calling back, but the line rang out! So after waiting an hour, I said, "forget about it", and I jumped in the shower, wet my hair, towel dried it and applied a bottle of Olaplex to my hair. Then I put my hair in a plastic shower cap and mixed up a clay facial for myself. I left the Olaplex and clay facial on for another hour, got in the shower, washed & conditioned my hair and got my hair towel dried and added some organic olive oil to my ends and then added a leave-in conditioner cream with Argan Oil. Then I went about blowdrying and styling my hair, all to which I was hoping to have done at the Social Dry Lounge. As to my questions that were left unanswered; here is what I needed to know... 1. I am a blonde, that get's blonde highlights every 6-8 weeks and am getting my highlights done on March 12, 2024, in 5 days, so are there any considerations I should know about insofar as interactions wherein highlights might affect and or reduce the longevity of the treatment? In other words should I wait and have the hair conditioning treatment done after my highlights? 2. Does the treatment have any odor like the Brazilian Blow Out or BKT? 3. Does the treatment contain any "aldehyde" or chemicals like PPD's, that people with a sensitive scalp might react to? Personally, I can't have "all over" hair color and even struggle with toner, as I have skin/scalp sensitivities, and have a long history of certain products burning my scalp, and triggering "contact dermatitis". For example, once during an "all over" color, my scalp began to burn as if someone was stabbing my head with a million needles and my scalp has turned red as it is burning from the chemicals. I've also suffered with hair color, toner and Brazilian Blow Out treatments, wherein during the treatment, I've become severely lightheaded & so dizzy that my ability to stand up and walk has been impaired. Post treatment's I've had my scalp become dry and scaly and it will shed for 2-3 weeks because I believe I am allergic and or very sensitive to certain chemicals. So in closing, it is my duty to ask questions about hair care products so that I can try to mitigate any adverse reactions. All in all, the disappointment I am herein expressing comes from the fact that the receptionist was unable to answer any of my questions, unable to ask anyone the questions, and after taking my number down, I had no return call! The manager Delsa of all the locations is rude and has no skill in customer service or appreciation. I called to inquire about an up charge that I have been receiving lately, and she left a demeaning voicemail. When I returned her call, she was just waiting to argue. The blowout service is always hit or miss. Some stylists take 30 minutes while others can take close to two hours and still do a poor job . The salon has increased their prices which are not worth the quality you receive in return. and the manager keeps saying they waived the fee for me. but they should have made that clear at the time... because i didn't know that. i've been going to them since 2022. my blowout was always regularly priced and then they decided to up charge me when my hair maybe became a tad longer and doesn't take anymore time. it doesn't make sense. and yes delsa, i still felt like you were not willing to understand my reasoning at all. that was the problem. i am not trying to make any false accusations here. it is what it is. read more

My first experience at this place was great but that stylist is no longer there so today I had an appointment for a blowout style with Gabe which was really disappointing. I shared that I had a photo shoot a few hours later and I needed the style to hold up for photos. My hair was in great condition going in but Gabe didn't use any heat protector or any styling treatments. At the end of the appointment I had so many small flyaway hair from the heat styling that they were standing up all over the top of my head like static electricity. I have never seen my hair like that before. Gabe's technique was good, but he does not communicate much, took a very Quick Look at the photo I brought for style reference and did not really replicate what I had asked for. When I mentioned all the flyaways he got some hairspray and tried to plaster it down. Within 20 minutes of leaving the flyaways were back and one side of my hair had fallen out of the styling almost completely. I had to fix that side at home before taking photos. By the time I arrived at the photo shoot 2 hours after the hair appointment, the photographer said that the back of my hair was straight and the sides were curled so she would try to just shoot from the front or side. I'm so disappointed that I spent money for that experience. Obviously I will not recommend this location and will not return. It was a completely sub-par experience while there and an upsetting experience upon leaving and realizing that I paid for something that I could have done better by myself. When I style my own hair, it lasts all day so I guess I will stick with the Shark styling tool and my own skills until I find a better quality outcome. read more

I am beyond happy with the results I got from two services I did this past year by gabe. 1) balayage (first visit) Came back for a touch up 2) curtain bangs (3rd visit) The photos don't do enough justice. I showed gabe what I wanted and the man delivered. Results looked better than the photo I originally showed him. I was introduced to gabe august of 2022 and been a loyal customer since. Before and after photos are shown below of the balayage + back and side angles of curtain bangs. Btw, last touch up was in October and my hair color still ON POINT 4 months later. Big fan! I am super particular when it comes to my hair and I have a hard time trusting any hair stylist (terrible past experience). One of my closest clients came into my work with beautiful hair and she was the one who recommended Gabe to me. You will not regret coming here. Tried this place for the first time today and I'm never coming back. Ellie (Elly?) was my stylist. I felt like she was a newbie the second she couldn't properly even wash my hair. I asked for a sleek blowout with curled in ends. She insisted that she needed to use a curling iron for this. I said no. I get blowouts regularly and no one has even suggested that they needed hot tools to make this work. I walked out knowing my hair was a mess. The top half layers were so curly to the point where they were ringlets and the bottom half of my hair was nearly stick straight. I walked down 5 doors to Starbucks, looked at my hair in the reflection, took these pictures and walked straight back to the salon to get my hair fixed. Anna (who was very nice) "fixed" this by using a curling iron to just curl all the hair. So now I just ended up with curly hair made with a curling iron, which is exactly how I didn't want to end up and why I spent the money for a blowout. I asked the cashier if Elly was new and she said no. This was even worse! If she was new then I would have just let it go because she is still learning. But the fact that this stylist is working there as a veteran employee blows my mind. I've had dozens of blowouts in LA, Boston, and NYC.
