Great timing. The you g woman at the front desk was friendly and had a warm smile. My stylist was friendly (Louba). She washed and conditioned my hair first. Then put heat protector and use Keith Murphy products. The blowout was fast and simple and turned out gorgeous. I was so happy and next going to seriously consider the membership. I went in with clean, dry hair and he curled my hair but hardly put any product in it and was done in about 30 minutes. What he did I could have done myself at home. Really wanted to like this dry bar since it was so much closer to me than the other bigger company dry bar. Went in and it was a super cute salon however, as soon as my stylist started with the hair wash it was all just going bad. While being shampooed the water was extremely hot and burned my scalp which ok it's fine the temp of water is out of her control but would have been nice if it was tested first. Then the blow drying started and she unfortunately kept burning my scalp with the blow dryer that I had to keep pulling my head away, and when it came to the curling of curling my hair the stylist burned the side of my face and it was so painful( was trying really hard not to scream from the pain) I completely understand that accidents happen but with the stylist just felt like she was rushing me and being careless from the very beginning. I get my hair blowout once a month at the other dry bar and have never had any issues of Burt scalp or face. I went to get my hair and makeup done for a wedding I needed to go to. Louba was doing my makeup and hair for that day. I wanted to get my hair washed, so she proceeds to do that, but she wasn't so careful. I ended up getting water in my ear and I freaked out about it. When I called the business prior they said they would provide a cape but they didn't. Just a towel near my neck only. I am wearing a formal dress and I wish they provided me a cape. Water did splash on my dress but luckily it dried quickly. The hair curling was okay and it wasn't too great. I had much better from other places. What was NOT okay is not putting heat protectant spray on my hair. My hair was steaming a lot from the iron. At night I checked my hair and noticed that my natural hair color faded. So clearly it was burnt pretty hard and I am very upset. Its smells burnt too. For the makeup Louba assumed I wanted a bit more natural makeup. So I said yes that's fine. Keep in mind I do take care of my skin so I don't need heavy makeup. She proceeds to put on winged liner that made my eyes smaller and puts on a really oily base makeup on me. Before my visit I called ahead if it's okay if I bring my own makeup because my skin tone is more fair. They said it's okay and Louba didn't bother to look and check. My stuff was actually the right makeup that fit me. What was not okay was the fact that she ignored it constantly after pushing her to check. I literally bought my tinted foundation after being color matched at Sephora a few days ago. She then proceeded to grab foundation and didn't bother to test on my neck to see if it works for my tone. She just put the makeup on me directly without checking to see if it matched me at all. The colors she used for my eyes were too heavy and too much for me. I asked her to remove the winged liner and she did but I overall didn't look great. Upon going back to my place the makeup made me look tanned and darker and I was not okay with that. If I bring my own makeup there it's because it's matches my skin tone. I immediately rushed home and removed all the makeup and did it myself which looked a lot better. I feel bad for the artist but I can't leave a positive review for the place. I called the business about a refund but they couldn't initially do that back on my card they wanted to give me store credit. The store manager and front desk couldn't and they had to talk to the owner. To go through that as a hurdle for a refund is crazy to get it back on my card. I told the front desk and manager to view me in my shoes. How awkward would it be to mid way telling the stylist/MUA that I hated it. I can't even say it in front of her because It gives me social anxiety. So I had to call right after. I felt upset because it's expensive and I honestly wish I didn't tip. I wish that was refunded as well. I left the two stars because they were kind enough to give a refund but I'm not okay with the fact that I wasn't listened to for most of the experience. She only used part of my blush and lipstick after I pushed on it. I am very disappointed with this place. At first I would say I have had a great experience since I got my hair styled for my engagement photoshoot and the curls held well. Negz was professional and nice and really listened to my requests. My curls lasted the whole day in the hot weather in Pasadena and even lasted 4 more days. It was amazing. I asked where the bathroom was, the front desk girl said "on your left, and it'll be right in front of you" and as I was walking to the bathroom, a stylist had her tray in the middle of the isle, saw me coming and didn't care to move her tray out of the way for me. I couldn't tell you if they provide drinks for their guests either because I wasn't offered anything. I booked my blowout appointment online 30 min prior to the start time. 10 min past my appointment time, I hear the front desk girl & who would have been my stylist talking about how she's running behind and something about a last minute appointment. Assuming, they were talking about me. I then hear the front desk girl call another client and tell her they are running behind. I'm in the industry so I totally get it when you're working under stress and it's not fun. So I decided I didn't want to be part of that. I told the front desk girl i know I booked last minute so it's okay, I won't keep my appointment. And her response was "yeah" lol I know probably should've called for my appointment. But, if they were running behind because of my appointment...they also should've just called me and told me it wasn't going to work out and I totally would've understood. I would consider this area a very nice area, and I definitely expected a lot more better treatment than I received. Immediately when I checked-in, the receptionist asked what I'd like to drink (although they ran out of champagne). In all, it was a nice warm greetings. I was booked with Marie at 12pm but because I was 10 minutes late (took me a little while to find a parking), they had reassigned another stylist, Jasmine, to style my hair instead. Turned out it was great. Jasmine listened patiently to what style I was looking for and that it needed to hold til late evening. She did a fantastic job and I was thrilled with the result! In terms of the salon, I noticed there were quite a few jewels missing from the wall and chairs which it kinda makes the place look aged and tired. In additions, the wall had this 80s look and paint finish. Personally, I think just replacing the missing jewels and a fresh layer of paint will give the salon a refresh and update look in no time. Jasmine did a great job styling my hair. $55 + tips wasn't exactly cheap but considering that I had extensions in, I think it justified the cost. The stylist I had was super sweet. I got my hair straightened and by the end of the night, my scalp was covered in tiny white dots and was BEYOND itchy. I get my hair done because it usually lasts longer than when I do it at home. This didn't even last the day. I didn't like that she used the straightener on each section of hair 3 times. That's a lot of heat. I was also very uncomfortable because the other stylist in the salon was talking about COVID. She doesn't believe in vaccines and she has had COVID several times already. I went to Social Dry Lounge to get my hair and makeup done for my step sister's wedding. I had called numerous other makeup artists prior to finding Social Dry Lounge. Other artists were either charging an obscene amount of money, unresponsive, or completely booked. When I made my appointment, I asked a ballpark estimate on how much it would cost and the receptionist said it wouldn't be more than $110. Actually, they increased their prices recently and neglected to mention it on the phone or at my appointment. It ended up costing $120 for a full updo and full face makeup. It really wasn't a big deal for me, but I know other people may have thrown a fit if they were told a different price than what they were charged. The salon was clean and I loved the decor. It was very classy and bright inside. The complimentary mint tea was a nice touch also. Davey did such an amazing job on my updo. I literally only had an idea of what I wanted and briefly described it to him then Googled a few pictures. How he styled me was better than I could've dreamed of. He was funny and professional, aside from his magical styling hands, I truly enjoyed talking to him. I hope I go to more events that require an updo just so he can style me again. Marie did my makeup. It turned out amazing. She truly is an artist. I sat down and she asked me where I was going, what kind of style I wanted, what my dress looked like and from there she was able to do my makeup perfectly. Yeah not gonna be a next time for me.. From the start total pump fake: place is so cute inside and spacious, nice and clean. but! No greeting. Zero acknowledgment.. place wasn't even that busy! Finally, 5 minutes later was noticed and "checked in" and was told they would be with me "soon." Lies lol 10 minutes later after my constant huffin and puffin to get SOMEONE to just start on my wash, a lady who had been sitting doing nothing comes and takes me to wash my hair. Granted she was really nice. Then, I sat waiting AGAIN for my stylist to come and actually start on me. Which finally started another 5-6 minutes later. The blow dry was sub-par. Wanted to charge me $70! For nothing special. My appointment was for 11 am. I wasn't greeted until 11:10 am. Wash at 11:15 am. Actual blow dry didn't start until 11:25 am. All of this would have been forgiven too if they actually had customer service and acknowledged they were running behind or apologized. For getting simply a blowout - I was pretty disappointed. For context- I have 3b, very curly hair; I came into the salon requesting a blowout and beachy waves. So naturally, it's a bit of a process to get a blowout - which I'm aware of. That said, I was charged a $15 "extra curly" fee because of this. I understand adding a fee, but what disappointed me is that no where on their website do they mention this - they made it seem like the blowout was a flat $55. Which to me is misleading. In addition I mentioned the $45 first blowout deal they had on their site. They responded a little flat, and like I was trying to bargain. But they say they'll honor it. In the end I'm charged $70, plus tip. Given that the blowout was supposed be $45, the curly fee another $15, I was overcharged. Money aside, my blowout lasted barely 20 minutes. I ended up having to redo it by the time I got home. Louba lacked customer service and barely spoke to me throughout and kept commenting on how my hair was so difficult and that I should just get a keratin treatment from her. And not once did she check in with me to ask how I felt about the hairstyle. Now again - my hair is very course and curly. So if you have a different texture hair, then you may have a different experience! I just would not recommend any girls with naturally curly hair to go here. Or if they do, maybe try a different stylist that could be more experienced with this type of hair. read more

I told her my daughter needed two french braids and showed with my hands what they should look like. Two french braids should be an easy enough request to follow. Shadi was not friendly at all, made no small talk, never asked what the hair was for or anything. After a few minutes, I noticed I noticed that she was definitely not doing two French braids as requested, so I went back and showed her a picture of two French braids. She was then extremely frustrated, and started over. She even told my daughter, "your mom really messed up". Pretty much the only words she spoke to my daughter the whole appointment. I found it to be very unprofessional. My daughter has multiple gymnastics competitions coming up, which I will be finding other hair places to do her hair. I will not be returning. read more

I booked a blowout for my daughter as a special treat for her 18th birthday. This has been our first time experience with SDL. On their website, the blowout is listed at $49 with a 20% discount, we were to pay $35 plus tip at the completion of the service. Gabe was assigned to work on my daughter's hair. All went well until towards the end, Gabe noted to us that my daughter's hair needed a bit trimming as one area seemed to be of uneven length. I took a look and the area he mentioned can be taken care of with a couple of snipping, something I can perform if I had a pair of scissors or at home. He said he could fix it after the blowout. No price or additional fees were mentioned or even remotely suggested. We thought that was part of the blowout or/and a first-time visit incentive. It took him less than 2 minutes to complete the trimming/snipping with all the embellished hair trimming time included. We tipped him more than 20% thanking him for his service, without any slightest idea what surprise awaited us at the checkout. Maddie was at the checkout and she told us the total bill amount was $120, not the original $35. With the 20% first-time visit discount, we can just pay $96. At $61 more than what we came here for, the offer of $96 sounded like they were doing us a favor, didn't it!! In a very calm voice, I pointed out that this was a complete surprise as no price was mentioned when Gabe wanted to trim the few loose pieces of hair. It is an outrageously ridiculous amount for what was performed. Maddie showed some understanding, nodding her head saying she'd go and talk to Gabe. When Maddie returned, she said we could pay $80 for the service, still a hefty $45 more than what we came here for, plus what we tipped, which we shouldn't have for this kind of unethical practice. I was running late for another obligation... so out of extreme reluctance, I went ahead and authorized the charge of $80. In hindsight, I should have agreed only to pay $35, not a penny more! This was meant as a beautiful experience for my daughter. Instead, we left feeling like we just swallowed a huge dirty fly! SDL would have kept two very loyal customers plus many referrals if they adhere to more ethical and professional business practices. Beware and pick a different service provider for your hair needs! Or risk being surprised and left with a terrible experience! read more

DO NOT GO HERE- I came in for an updo and eye makeup. The stylist took 25 min to put my hair in a ponytail and rush through my eye makeup. I had to ask her to curl the ends (six whopping twirls of the curling iron) and to use Bobby pins to secure the bottoms. She couldn't even be bothered to use an eyelash curler on me. The whole time she was in such a rush even though I came in with a reservation (which notes approx 2 hrs total time for both services) and literally nobody else was in the shop. Insult to injury, after my hairstyle inevitably fell out within an hour of leaving the salon, I called the store for a refund and they have been taking messages and not following up or following through. It's laughable that they charged $115 for such abysmal service. Shame on me but heed my advice and avoid this place at all costs!!! read more
