Not located too far from Pike Place itself, this place isn't too crowded on a Friday afternoon around 3pm. This place has a nice, minimalistic interior with the Social Grounds and Pike Place logos on their walls. Windows here let in a ton of natural light, and you can do your laptop work here since it isn't overly noisy besides the mainstream music popping in the background. Staff were very helpful and kind, and gave me some recommendations on what to get here, most notably their matcha drinks. I decided on the peach matcha for this visit. The matcha quality was only okay at best, and it was overly sweetened in general like vanilla. Presentation though was on point though with the whip cream on top of the drink similar to an einspanner one of my friends got before here, and I loved seeing that layer of peach below, even though it was tough to stir even with their straws. Drink is quite big for the $9 price tag compared to other recent places around the area, so you're getting a lot more here! I just probably had a one-off experience with the matcha, so I'll come back to try their coffee instead. read more

Looked for a random place for coffee or matcha near Pike Place & ended up here! The interior is pretty big, not sure if they would allow studying here but if they did, I totally would! My partner and I each got the Einspanner Latte and the Matcha Einspanner, each which currently cost $7.99 according to the menu. While I was paying, I couldn't help but notice a discrepancy between pricing and saw that the cashier charged me $8.95 for each, bringing my total for drinks to nearly $20! From photos people have been posting of their menus, it seems like they have been very quickly raising the prices of their items every couple of months, which is :/. I asked a different cashier about this & she quickly refunded me the difference though. I have a feeling that they just didn't update the menu facing outwards & will be raising their prices shortly though. The drinks themselves had a pretty presentation! The thick cream on top perfectly complimented the Einspanner Latte, I also liked how strong the coffee was, but not bitter at all! However, I think the Matcha Latte was made WAY too sweet. The difference in sweetness of drinks was extremely drastic, so I wish they would have offered like levels of how sweet they would make it or at least let customers know that the matcha is rather sweet. I feel like they used a pre-made matcha powder that already has sweetness in it & probably just use a proportioned amount. I don't think the matcha was very strong tasting at all. Pretty solid coffee spot near Pike Place! I went here after seeing a really good Uber Eats deal of spend $20 or more, get $15 discount, effectively making 3 drinks to cost around $6! Even without the discount (no upcharges online), $7 for regular Einspanner and $8 for a matcha Einspanner is good, given it is 16 oz and is fairly substantial. My rating is based on regular pricing. The Einspanners have a good amount of cream which makes it fairly hearty, with the regular one a coffee based one which I actually like more than the matcha. Matcha one is decent but the matcha quality is just okay. The creaminess makes the drink quite delicious. Plus, the presentation is pretty good. read more

I'd like to give more of a 3.5 because the decor is fine, there's lots of comfy seating, and it seems like it'd be a great place to have a drink and hangout. My concerns were the taste of my drink and the service. Tried the iced ube latte and it really wasn't very enjoyable. The ube taste is there, but it didn't have much going for it. I'm guessing that it probably is better hot, but I expected more and it wasn't very sweet, which surprised me because it's ube - usually sweeter in my experience. Another person in my group tried the iced strawberry matcha latte and THIS one was very good! Wish I had ordered that one. The place is cute and cozy, but there were several used plates and cups around so we had to work a little to find a more open spot. There was only the one lady, so perhaps she was understaffed today? But we were the only customers for a while so I'm not sure what happened. Perhaps she was also having a rough day because she wasn't very friendly. She wasn't rude - just didn't seem too thrilled to have us there. Again, perhaps it was a rough day so far. I'd be willing to give this place another shot when in Seattle again. There are also other things to try, so maybe it'll be a better experience. read more

Stumbled in here while on the hunt for another Coffee Shop in Pikes Market. What a great find. It's pretty spacious and very open. I thought the Barista was extremely nice but obviously very overwhelmed. We had the Hot Chai and Vanilla latte. Both drinks were pretty strong and smooth. I am so glad I stopped by here for matcha. The place has such a calming vibe to it and there's plenty of seating. Best einspaner i've had in a while! I got the matcha einspaner, strawberry matcha einspaner and einspaner black. The matcha einspaner was my favorite. The cream they add is super creamy not too sweet but also whatever matcha they use its not bitter and it has more creamy sweet notes than earthy umami. Strawberry matcha was delicious but once it was all mixed it was a bit sweet for me but ill get it less sweet next time! Strawberry flavor was delicious tho. Plenty of seating and a table that sits up to seven people. Bar seating available for those that come alone! They have pastries from Macrina bakery and muffins from Boulangerie bakery in Bellevue. We tried the strawberry muffin, almond pinwheel and everything but bagel with cream cheese! I happen to notice signage diagonal from where I had parked on 1st Avenue. I decided to stop in after one of two stops at Pike Place Market (1/23/25). Very nice interior with various seating configurations. The barista at the main counter was very upbeat and pleasant. Turns out this was a former Armistice Coffee. Social Grounds has been open since November 2024. I decided to sit at the counter facing the sidewalk and take in abundant sunshine, while nibbling on a heated savory scone from Macrina and sipping on a well crafted 16oz mocha. Perfect temperature and balance with the chocolate, steamed milk, and espresso. Coffee beans are from Sleepy Monk in Cannon Beach, OR. Coincidentally, I enjoyed this roaster back in August 2024 while visiting the Oregon Coast. I was onsite on a Thursday late morning, pretty much had the cafe to myself. Perhaps it's much more crowded at other times with downtown workers and tourists? Chill cafe conveniently located near Pike Place!! I visited this spot while showing a friend around Seattle, and it was the perfect spot to sit and chill after all the walking around in the morning. Our favorite was the matcha einspanner, and the caramel einspanner was a close 2nd - highly recommend either of these for a morning caffeine boost!
