I love this Hagen location more than the other Hagen cafés in Seattle. The atmosphere and service are nice. I especially like the outdoor seating, the view, and the way they've recently arranged the space with plants and umbrellas outside. I also like the recent music selection. Keep it up! I usually get breakfast here, either the Smashed Avocado Toast or the Breakfast Bun. I also like the paninis. Definitely the spot for you if you like horrible service and tasty food. I work and live nearby so I find myself coming here frequently. There is a particular barista working nearly every time I come in; they are so miserable and unfriendly that I have decided not to go back. Each and every time they do not greet me and today they said "what do you want?". What I want is a little hospitality on the side of my $8 pastry. It's such a bummer because I would love to support a local business, but I cannot deal with their stank attitude. Let me know when they quit. Fellow Yelp Elite, Dawne from Florida, flew from Tampa to Seattle right before Hurricane Helene. I was happy to meet up with her. The cafe originally selected was strangely closed on a Friday mid morning. Thankfully, plan B was a short walk away to Hagen Coffee Roasters (9/27/24). Last December, we first met at a Cafe Hagen atop Queen Anne, so it seems we are continuing this hygge tradition. Upon entering, one is greeted with a vast pastry case of enticing sweet and savory items. Because of the line, there was ample time to ponder the choices. Decent menu featuring both eats and bevs. Dawne ordered a pumpkin chai latte. I ordered a 16oz mocha and one of their raspberry layered shortbread bars to share. Mocha was well crafted. We enjoyed the well balanced bar too. We were lucky to snag an indoor two top. Both the indoor and outdoor seating were near full. Pleasant interior and welcoming vibe, adding to the site's popularity. I appreciated that we were able to catch up for over two hours onsite. Interesting though versus other onsite roasters like Red Twig, Zoka, Herkimer, Caffe Vita, Cafe Javasti as examples, there was not any overt coffee roasting scent. Love this little neighborhood cafe. Good coffee. Get the kopenhagen latte if you like cardamom and the seattle fog (their version of a London fog); both are so yummy. Pastries are always solid. We got the following:: - Breakfast Bun -- super simple, clean tasting and the bread was so light and fluffy! - Salmon Breakfast Bun -- daughter loved this and proclaimed it was her favorite breakfast spot! - Seasonal Jam Waffle -- meh, wished it was a little easier to eat as the waffle was cup shaped so you end up eating the berries/cream first. I'm so surprised at the mixed reviews because I had such a solid five-star experience at both Hagen locations in Seattle. My partner and I were in town for work, arriving early on a (rainy) Monday morning. We sat down at separate tables, which were pretty small, to make room for our individual breakfasts and laptops, until more people showed up in the afternoon. Wi-Fi was strong. Coffee was strong. Honestly the best pour over I've ever had, and I wouldn't normally say that about a dark beverage. Had a delicious Blueberry Danish and Brie & Prosciutto Toast. I really wanted to like this place but they completely forgot my breakfast skillet and I waited patiently for 25 minutes before asking about it and they claimed that I didn't order it. I came here for breakfast and latte. I definitely ordered my breakfast and they just forgot to make it. No apology was issued. They did. It accept any accountability. The definition of poor service. They did absolutely nothing to make it right. On top of everything, the "healthy" skillet is smothered in tons of cheese making it the opposite of healthy. A bustling stop on a Saturday morning, this is one of my favorite places to visit when I am looking for a sit down coffeeshop to take in my morning. The pastry case is always full and I just pick whatever looks the freshest because its always good, though I have to say the cinnamon cronut muffin has been a stand out. The vibe is great, with beautiful wall decor and ambiance. Its always busy here, but not so busy that you can't find a seat usually, just might have to wait a minute for something to open up. They have more substantial food as well if you are looking for more of a meal. I am always eyeing the Norwegian waffles as they are being brought to someones table, one of my favorite treats to make at home, but I bet they make a great version here. read more

This time, we met Uptown on a Friday morning at their local Scandinavian-inspired roastery for a few hours to engage in some coffee talk...well, girl talk really...which, I thoroughly enjoyed. This comfy sunlit corner was packed, but we got lucky and found a table. I sipped on a cozy seasonal...off menu...hot Pumpkin Chai Tea Latte and Marie surprised me with a scrumptious raspberry slice to share. It's one of Denmark's most traditional treats...The Hindbærsnitter-a delicate pastry made from two buttery and crumbly layers of shortbread-like cookies, blanketed with sweet & slightly tart raspberry preserves, a thick lamination of white powdered sugar glaze and a sprinkling of crushed freeze-dried raspberries...such an unassuming little square of jammy goodness. Hagen is a luxury coffee brand, which you have to know going in. I researched Seattle coffee roasters prior to our trip, and Hagen was at the top of my list of places to visit due to their unique and extremely high quality selections: gesha, wush wush, and multiple experimental processes all with interesting flavor profiles. Their barista was amazing, and for being solo she did an excellent job managing the orders. I got a Juicy Berries pour over ($9) and a bag of the Tocora Gesha ($35). Fortunately, both were excellent. The pour over was fragrant and had deep fruit and chocolate notes throughout. Very good. The gesha however, was on another level: layers of flavor throughout each delicious sip and as the cup cooled more presented. This place is worth the trip for anyone who really appreciates high end coffee, but it's not something I can afford to drink on a consistent basis. read more

Came here during a family trip to Seattle and I must say this IS the best cafe spot within its area. My parents loved their specialty latte so much that they wanted to buy the beans to make at home (however they don't have the equipment to remake it so they did not end up purchasing unfortunately haha)... However they're not big coffee people so that should say a lot about how much they loved the coffee here! The pastries were equally delicious and overall just a great little coffee spot and would definitely be my go-to if I lived nearby. Located within 2-3 blocks north of MoPOP and the Space Needle, we stopped by this pretty coffee shop for our morning coffee fix. Has both indoor (tables and chairs) and outdoor (bar table with high chairs) seatings for chilling, chatting or studying/working. Delicious pastry variety (we enjoyed the pear crème brûlée one the most, although it was more similar to a danish) and enjoyable coffees including a fun peach specialty coffee that was sweet and not overpoweringly peachy. Would come here again for our morning coffee needs. Prices are reasonable (about $6-7 per drink). Seems to be very popular with the locals and dog friendly too! read more

I love this cafe. My friend and I often stop by for their incredible pastries and coffee. I don't know how to explain it since there are so many choices of pastries, but there is such a depth of flavor to them. The pastries are slightly crisp on the edges and fluffy on the inside. I have worked in the area for years, and Hagen is the relative new comer to the area and an interesting contrast to old and funky Vita across the street. Both have very good espresso, but they are so different from each other. My lattes have always been stellar here. Top shelf espresso being pilled here. Like others have noted, it can get packed near the typical coffee times of day. Even during the off times it can be tough to get a table. The line moves quickly (relatively) though. The main thing I like about Hagen is their baking component, which you don't really know about because the business name just says "coffee roasters" but in actuality they make and sell different croissants and cookies and all kinds of different things that don't agree with my waistline. The prices are what you'd expect for Seattle, not exactly cheap. I spent $19 on a plain latte and a breakfast sandwich, which were both good, but still it was $19. It's not like I do anything else with my disposable income, so I will keep coming back, and you should come here too. read more

Wow. We've been very lucky while vacationing in Seattle and British Columbia. Hagen Coffee Roasters makes a gorgeous pour over. We've stopped there for coffee and breakfast twice now. The place has a calm energy and a perfect cappuccino. The pastries are lovely and the smashed avocado toast is the most thoughtful I've had anywhere outside of my home. Most places just smash an avocado without much thought to seasoning or a crisp toast on the bread so that it can soak up flavor. The serving is generous too. Such a gem in the Queen Anne neighborhood! I've tried a handful of cafes around the area and I knew within that first sip that this one takes the cake! I've tried the mokka, caramel and lavender lattes- all so good. I love that they make all their baked goods in house and went back to buy a few loaves of bread (focaccia and onion rye). Everyone I've encountered has been welcoming. Will have to visit their SLU location soon- they offer brunch and have more seating available (there's a few outdoor benches in QA). They offer an unusual-for-this-area selection of Scandinavian-style pastries and breads (the Kardemummabullar was awesome; others in our group really loved the "Cinnamon Social," which is kind like a flat/rectangular slice or cinnamon bun). Coffee is excellent, too. We had a bit of a mixup during the ordering process - one of our party changed their mind re: his coffee order, and the staff handled the change really kindly on the fly.
